I Love You Lucario... - Chapter 4
#4 of I Love You Lucario...
Here is chapter 4. Sorry for the lateness. School has been hell. Anyways, enjoy the story.
Mark, Jake and Brad rode their bikes up to the shed out in front of the house. They dismounted their bikes and wheeled them into the small building. The shed smelled of rotting wood and dead animals even though none were present. They rested their bikes against the wall in the back and walked out of the shed. Brad locked it behind them.
"Well, Mark, you might want to get to know your new pokemon. I have more work to do so I'll be seeing you boys later." said Brad.
"Later dad, thanks again!" responded Mark.
"Bye Brad!" shouted Jake.
"Have fun." said Mr. Ledford walking back to the house.
Once the door of the house closed Mark took the pokeball out of his backpack. He held it in front of his face just staring at it, just wondering and thinking about the Lucario. He was thinking about how the Lucario thought about being given away by his trainer to a kid who had no real experience with pokemon.
"Hello! Paging Mark! What's with you man?" shouted Mark waking him from his trance.
"Oh, n- nothing." said Mark quietly.
"Something wrong man?"
"No, just...just how do you think he feels?"
"...who?"
"The Lucario, I mean, his own trainer gave him away to me, just an inexperienced kid who just wants to throw pokemon around. He must feel horrible, betrayed and scared."
"Huh? I never thought of that. Maybe you're right. Well, we just have to make him feel at home. We have to show him that we have more here in Twinleaf than in Snowpoint City. We have to show him we won't leave him." said Jake getting hyped from his own words.
"You're right." replied Mark with a smile. With that Mark threw the pokeball out into the air. "Come on out and see your new Lucario!" Suddenly the ball clicked open and a ray of white light shot out onto the ground. After a second the white light began to take shape into the Lucario and then, the light disappeared. The pokeball closed and shot back to Mark's hand who caught it looking at the pokemon in front of him.
The Lucario stood there without moving. His arms were crossed with his eyes closed and snout pointed towards the ground.
"Hey there Lucario, my names Mark, I'm your new trainer. I was hoping we could get to know each other better and maybe even become friends. Would you like that?" After Mark said this, the Lucario opened his eyes, looked up and uncrossed his arms. Then he suddenly barked at him in a threatening tone. Mark and Jake jumped back at the bark. It was quite obvious that the Lucario was not happy about Mark calling himself his new trainer.
Mark was determined to start off well with his first pokemon. He slowly started walking up to the Lucario. Lucario noticed this and switched to a fighting stance and started growling.
"Come on Lucario, I'm not going to hurt you, I just wanna welcome you to the family." Mark inched close step by step closing in on the Lucario. When he was about seven feet away, the Lucario jumped at Mark sinking his fangs into Mark's right hand. Mark screamed in pain and fell back onto the ground. The Lucario jumped back to his original spot spitting out some of Mark's blood. Mark was now holding his hand with a pained look on his face. Jake ran up to help him with his hand. Mark's hand was dripping with blood. Jake threw his shirt off and started to wrap it around Mark's hand trying to stop the bleeding. He looked up at the Lucario with anger surging through him.
"What fuck is your goddamned problem! We try and be friendly to you when you have no one and this is what you fucking pull! You are one ungrateful bastard you know that!" Lucario pretty much ignored what Jake was yelling at him.
"Maybe that's why your own trainer abandoned you!" This made Lucario look up at the two. He saw the anger in Jake's eyes. He stared wide at the two humans. This hit him deeply. Did his human abandon him because he was so stubborn? He felt his heart break. Tears started to form at the pokemon's face. Jake who hadn't noticed kept yelling at the Lucario.
"Hey do you hear me?! I said you're nothing but an orphan! This proves why your owner gave you away!" said Jake pointing at Mark's hand dripping with blood.
The Lucario stared at Mark's hand with blood flowing out of it. What had he done? This boy hadn't attacked him. He hadn't done anything wrong. He had just attacked in cold blood in his misery of his own abandonment. Jaked picked a nearby rock and threw it at Lucario nailing him in the cheek. The Lucario felt a sharp sense of pain followed by a metallic taste in his mouth. He held up his paw to his cheek rubbing it looking at the two boys.
"No Jake! Leave him alone! Stop attacking him!" yelled out Mark.
Lucario with tears streaming down his face now, broke down and ran off down the road. Mark got up and gave chase. Jake just stood there for a few seconds and then started to chase after Mark. The Lucario ran all the way down a forested path to the edge of a lake. He sat there at the edge regretting what he had just done. Lucario's mind was racing and nothing seemed to help more than letting it all out in tears. He looked at his reflection in the lake and saw his bleeding cheek. He reached with his paw and touched the wound pulling back slightly at the pain when he made contact. Then he thought about Mark's hand that he had ripped open. He started to worry if he was ok. Then, Lucario heard something. It sounded like footsteps coming from behind him. He turned to see Mark there looking at him with his bloody hand.
"Lu- Lucario...." said Mark weakly. "Please don't run...I'm not mad...please." Lucario stood up looking at the human with tears still in his eyes. Mark started walking closer to the Lucario which made him take a step back. Suddenly, Jake came running through the clearing seeing Mark only a few feet away from the Lucario.
"Mark! Get away from that thing!" yelled Jake at the top of his lungs. Mark just dept moving closer. Soon he was right in front of the Lucario. He bent down and slowly extended his left arm out. The Lucario flinched but didn't move. Mark stretched out his hand and placed it on the Lucario's head. He started to scratch the Lucario's head softly and calmly. He looked deeply into the Lucario's eyes and the Lucario looked into his. The pokemon then started to cry with tears running down his face. He flew himself into Mark embracing him in a hug. It was so odd to see such a stubborn and fierce pokemon suddenly break down and show such emotion. Mark's eyes started to water and he hugged the crying pokemon. They sat there for a while just letting it all out. After a while they separated and stood up, their faces still wet from their tears. Jake walked down to both of them and the Lucario looked up at him and moved closer to Mark.
"Hey, Lucario. Look, I'm sorry about what I said back there. I didn't mean any of it. I mean, I was just mad when you hurt Mark, I overreacted. I hope I didn't hurt you." He said looking at the huge bruise on the pokemon's cheek. "Oh my god, Lucario...I'm sorry. I didn't mean it I'm so sorry!" The Lucario stepped out from Mark and looked at Jake. He looked back at Mark then back at Jake. The Lucario then held out his arm towards Jake.
"No, I'm sorry." said a deep growly mysterious voice. This made Jake and Mark step back away from the Lucario.
"Yo- you, jus- just talked!" stammered Jake with wide eyes.
"Yes." replied the Lucario.
"How...how can you talk?" asked Mark.
"I use aura." said the Lucario.
"Aura? What is that?" asked Jake.
"Aura is the essence of life and every living creature that exists. It is a power that I have the ability to use and control. One of the things I can do with aura is project a message into your mind without actually speaking directly to you, which is basically, telepathy. This is how I can speak to you. I can also see what you think and feel what you feel." explained the Lucario.
"So you know what I'm thinking? asked Jake.
"I can figure that out." replied the Lucario.
"Ok then, what am I thinking of right now."
".....pie?"
"Wow! That's amazing!" Mark and the Lucario just laughed at Jake.
"Well, so do you forgive me Lucario?" asked Jake.
"Yes, as long as you forgive me."
"Done."
Also, Mark, I'm sorry about your hand. I wasn't thinking clearly, please forgive me."
"It's no problem. Don't worry about it." said Mark smiling at the Lucario.
"I don't know why my old trainer has given me away, but what I do know is that you're my trainer now, and I and accept that." said the Lucario looking up at Mark, returning the smile.
"Gee, thanks. I'm glad you feel that way."
"Hey guys, it's getting dark, we should probably start heading home." said Jake looking at the setting sun on the horizon.
"Oh yea, we should get home. Let's go Lucario." replied Mark.
"You...you still want me around?"
"Of course. How about we forget about what happened today and start anew." said Mark.
"I would like nothing better."
"Hello my name is Mark, and you are?" said Mark reaching out his hand.
"You can call me Lucario, pleasure to meet you." replied Lucario laughing while shaking Mark's hand.
"And I'm Jake, but seriously guys, it's getting late." said Jake standing over in the clearing.
"Ok lets go." said Mark.
The three started walking back down the road with Jake in front and Mark and Lucario in the back. While they were walking Lucario grabbed Mark's left hand and held it. Mark wrapped his hand with Lucario's and continued walking down the road heading to their new home, walking into the sunset together.
