Duties of a Prince
Royal duties can be a pain, but sometimes they do lead to acquiantances that become... More than acquiantances.
For as long as anyone could remember, the tiger- and lizardfolk had been at war with each other. It was a centuries old feud, though no one was old enough to remember over what. Some speculated it had to do with some ancient dynasty, or a piece of sacred land. But the reality was that no one knew, so when the truce between the two kingdoms were called, both sides sighed with relief.
It was preferable for both sides to switch out the bloodied soldiers with tired diplomats, outposts with embassies, and death with life. It had meant a change in lifestyle for the nobility, too. Aren had experienced it himself. From birth, he'd been trained for war. To lead campaigns in the name of his father, the Fury. But with the truce, the young tiger was suddenly thrust into a different theatre altogether - the political one.
He still carried a blade by his side at all times. His smooth, scarcely striped face made him somewhat of an oddity amongst his more rough compatriots, but they respected him for his command nonetheless. And when he walked through the gates of Lakata, it also commanded the respect of the lizardfolk's citizenry.
Marching in through the northern arch of Lakata, Aren walked at the front of his delegation. At his sides were his two personal guards, Atta and Kann. They were flanked by ambassadors from several of the tigerfolk's vassal states, all carrying tributes and gifts for the lizard king himself. As they walked down the gorgeous sandstone path, the tiger prince cast his eyes around the walls; all of them were decorated with images that seemed to tell the story of their two peoples, right up to the truce.
It was no mistake that this was the path they chose to use for entering the city. There was humility in walking the more narrow street, and it also kept it a tad easier on the guards with fewer angles to cover. Rounding another corner, the path opened up to a large plaza, the north end of which had two sets of stairs with two dozen steps leading to a glorious palace. On the plateau between the two sets of stairs stood a figure clad in golden armour wrapped in a red cloak.
As the delegation came to a halt at the foot of the stairs, Aren drew his blade, and promptly placed it on the stones before him. "I am Aren Felis, Prince Elect of Ather, heir to the Fury. We seek an audience with the Chosen of the Scale, to present to him gifts, tribute, and news from our realm."
One of the lizard guards - clad in little more than a fancy silk loin cloth and metal pauldrons - banged the butt of his spear against the sandstones before calling out in a raspy voice. "The Chosen of the Scale presents his son, Dessan, as his representative."
The figure in the cloak took a step forward and spread its arms, revealing a shining golden armour underneath, ordained with sapphires around the torso in the shape of a dragon's head. Similarly, the figure's head was hidden underneath a golden mask forged to resemble a dragon's face, but it didn't seem to obscure its speech all that much.
"I am the Chosen's emissary. I shall receive you in his stead," Dessan said in a tone that was far more practiced than natural, but Aren nodded in response and gave a deep bow.
As the tiger prince walked up the steps, he began to consider the topics of discussion. His mission was simple. He was supposed to get the lizardfolk's support for an expansion into the cold north, but that was easier said than done. His own people had fur to protect them from some of the environments, but the lizardfolk were far more reliant on ambient temperature. It was why they preferred the warmer southern climates, and why Lakata was positioned on the very edge of an expansive desert.
Though the capital's position had certainly given the scalie ones an opportunity to build a very pretty city; everything was covered in or made from some sort of sandstone. Quartz and gemstones clad the facades of almost every wall that the delegation had gone past, and all the citizens seemed to wear some type of silk garb.
Indeed, even the seat of their leader was impressive. It was a giant sandstone palace, with a pair of large towers flanking it with skywalks going between them and the palace. All along the outside, monoliths stood that detailed the founding of Lakata and the mythology of the 'Chosen of the Scale' - a representative said to have been sent by the divine celestial dragons to lead their descendants to glory.
The interior of the palace was much like the exterior; constructed of sandstone, with fountains that ran along its walls, connected by small canals. Statues resembling anthropomorphic dragons flanked anyone coming into the room from the main doors, their eyesockets holding sapphires that shone brightly in the dusk sun.
At the very end of the main hall was a large marble throne shaped like the paw of a dragon; its claws covered in gold and functioning as armrests. It didn't seem like a particularly pleasant seat, but it was an impressive one. Dessan looked no less impressive when seated in it; he was all the picture of nobility one would expect from the son of a king.
Kneeling before the throne, Aren turned his gaze to the floor as was customary. "By the grace of the Celestials, we meet under the gaze of your forefathers. We wish to make a request of Your Grace."
Dessan cocked his head to the side, his slitted eyes narrowing. "Speak your request, cat."
"The Fury wishes for a delegation of the lizardfolk to join his own people in an expedition to the Frozen Lands. We believe ancient relics to be hidden in temples of our shared ancestors, and we think it could be beneficial to both of us to unearth them."
Aren held his breath. He wasn't sure how his request would be received. The lizardfolk were divided between the traditionalists that believed in the mythology of the Chosen of the Scale, and the unifiers, who believed that the tiger- and lizardfolk had a shared history that had been forgotten.
Thankfully, the rulers were part of the latter group. "Your father is wise, but he plays with fire if he thinks this request will be granted easily. There are concessions you must make, but we are willing to consider this..."

As night fell upon the palace, torches were lit and guards began to patrol the corridors. Lakata's laws were strict, as a number of gangs made their home in the nearby dunes. Anyone caught outside after dark faced serious punishment unless they could produce a valid permit from the royal palace. It also meant anyone caught inside the palace grounds were subject to even harsher penalties.
Nevertheless, a figure was moving quietly between the shadows in the royal palace. It was swift, and moved with nary a sound. Not even its footfalls made a noise. Somehow, it managed to avoid detection by the guards that patrolled, staying to the shadows and keeping close to corners. Like a snake on the prowl, it snuck closer and closer to the royal quarters.
Pushing open the door to Dessan's chambers, the figure stepped in. The door slid closed, with a slight creak. The figure froze; a moment later, a pair of arms had grabbed a hold of it.
"You thought you could just sneak in here, did you?" Dessan growled, pulling the hood down to reveal Prince Aren's face. "You've gotten better at avoiding the guards, but you're still far too noisy to sneak up on me."
Aren's noble composure completely fell apart. "Listen here, I didn't trek across -" his words were interrupted as the lizard's lips locked over his, and the pair shared an impassioned kiss. After what felt like a blissful eternity, the kiss was broken and Aren coughed a bit. "It's been a while since we've been able to do that, hasn't it?"
"Half a year. Almost seven cycles of the moon, to be precise. Yes, I have been counting," the lizard smirked and walked over to his bed, sitting down on it. He looked different without his ceremonial armour on. His dark red scales stood in stark contrast to his emerald green eyes. He was certainly making a fine figure, with his open tunic showing off his bare, muscled chest.
The tiger slinked closer, a grin on his face as he slid into the lizard's lap; his handpaws pushing him onto his back as he rubbed the scalie chest. "I think we have a bit of catching up to do, don't we?"
It was fortunate that Dessan wasn't wearing much, as it made it much easier for him to slip around his partner. In one swift move, he'd pushed the tiger onto the bed and hovered above him, slipping out of his tunic as he began removing the dark robes the tiger had been wearing.
Aren's breath caught in his throat, and he tried to keep himself from blushing but he couldn't. Their lips met once more as the tiger slipped out of his pants, feeling the lizard do the same; a moment later, their naked bodies met. His sheath throbbed with excitement as he felt Dessan's claws travel down his side, gently gripping his hips and lifting them up.
"Excited?" Aren pondered out loud, resting his arms on his lover's shoulders as he gazed into his eyes. There was such royalty in them. They'd known eachother for years, been lovers for half that time, yet there was always something about Dessan that knocked Aren on his arse. Some aspect that made him swoon.
The lizard hissed, his tongue seeking the tiger's neck as he pressed his slit against the feline's sheath; his member was slowly emerging, showing off its nubby sides and spiked glans. It glistened as it rested against the tiger, before slipping down to his tail. The tiger prince barely had time to steel himself before the - already well lubricated - lizard shift sank its tip into him.
He let out an embarrassingly loud moan, which made Dessan freeze and put a handpaw over his muzzle. "Q-Quiet, Aren! You risk -" His words were caught in his throat as the pair heard a knock on the door.
"Lord Dessan? Is something wrong?"
"No - not at all! I was merely yawning. This day has been quite eventful. Please, allow me to rest. No more disturbances!" Dessan managed to explain, his body still as his eyes watched the wooden door.
As they heard the sound of footsteps leading away from the door, they both breathed a sigh of relief. They'd had to keep their love affair secret, due to the political situation, so it wouldn't exactly be a good thing if a guard discovered the pair. But the near discovery only seemed to drive the lizard's lust up; he pushed his hips further towards the tiger, letting his nubbed shaft sink deeper.
As the dozens of nubs brushed over the tiger's prostate, he shuddered and had to bite down on his lip to stifle his moans. Dessan responded by entangling his digits with the tiger prince and pushing him further into the bed with another thrust of his hips. A delightful union of bodies; fur to scale, prince to prince, as the pair moved in tandem in the darkened bedroom.
Aren couldn't help but let out a mewling, whining moan as he felt Dessan's movements pick up in speed and his thrusts in frequency. His own member was glistening against his belly, flopping every time the large lizardman thrust into him. It got too much for him. Without warning, the tiger gasped, his shaft throbbing, thick streaks of cum shooting onto his furry belly and chest. As his walls clamped down on his partner, he felt the scalie prince shudder as well. A warmth spread out as he felt Dessan's own shaft give up its seed inside him.
After what felt like a blissful eternity, the pair collapsed. With his legs wrapped around his partner, Aren let out a soft chuckle. "One day, we shall secure a union between our people... One day..."
