In this chapter, Marjorie tells us the story of how she met her beloved fluffball, the runty werewolf known as Fleetpaw.

Chapter 6

So, about fifteen years ago, there was a nineteen-year-old girl living with her aunt and uncle in the northern part of the village. Physically, she was rather short and chubby, with curly black hair and a round face full of freckles. Also, her eyesight wasn’t particularly great, so she had to wear glasses at all times.

Now, like I said, she was... well, slightly overweight. Not because she was a big eater or anything, no. It was something about her body having difficulty processing sugars. That was just the way she was born. Doctors had said that there was no cure for her condition, so she had to bear that burden throughout her whole life.

Of course, as it couldn’t have been any other way, she was very unpopular among her peers. The other kids mocked her constantly, calling her names and shaming her for being ‘butt-ugly’ and ‘a fat-ass.’ They could be so cruel... Only god knows how many times she ran back home to hide under her bed sheets and cry.

Sucks to be that girl, huh? Well, that was me.

Yeah... Young Margie didn’t have it easy. No one wanted to be my friend, because apparently no one makes friends with ‘ugly fat cows’ like me. ‘Go stuff your face with cake, fatty!’ they’d tell me before cackling like the heartless little demons they were. It was hell, you know? It got to the point where I just dreaded to climb out of bed in the mornings and go outside.

But that wasn’t all...

I don’t know if it was because of all the stress or what, but around that time I also began to develop a sleepwalking problem. At first I’d just wake up in the living room or something. It was a bit disorienting, but nothing anyone would call a big deal, right? Well, one day I woke up outside. And when I say ‘outside,’ I mean at the edge of the forest.

It was still very early in the morning, before sunrise. I was beyond confused, but I got up and just walked back home. No one saw me, and I never told anyone. Then, a few days later, it happened again. And then again the day after. I woke up in the same place every time. It was like the forest was calling me in my sleep, you know? Or at least that’s what I thought.

Then, the fifth time it happened, which also ended up being the last, I woke up earlier than usual. It was still quite dark, and I could feel myself being in someone’s arms, as though they were carrying me somewhere.

“W...where am I?” I asked in that state of mind where you just can’t tell whether you’re still dreaming or not. The only response I got was a very startled gasp. Next thing I knew, I was on the ground. Whoever had been carrying me disappeared among the bushes so fast I couldn’t even get the faintest glimpse of them.

“W-wait!” I shouted into the darkness as I stood up among the trees. “Don’t leave me alone here!”

But no one responded.

“...H-hello?” I tried, seeing nothing but bushes and trees all around me. Not that I could see much anyway, since it was well before sunrise, so everything was still quite dark. Not having my glasses with me didn’t help either. Ah, I’m not going to lie; I was starting to get a bit scared, girl. I mean, just imagine waking up in the middle of the forest at night, completely alone and lost. It wasn’t great, is what I’m saying!

“Please...” I begged with more than a few tears in my eyes, hoping that whoever had been carrying me hadn’t truly left me to die there. Thankfully, that’s when I finally got a response. It took the form of the voice of what I assumed was a young lad my age, coming from somewhere among the thick bushes that faded into the unknowable mass of darkness ahead.

“T-the way back to the village is right b-behind you, vanni,” it timidly spoke. “W-walk in a straight line and you will be there in... less than ten minutes, I— I promise.”

“...Who are you?” I asked, trying to see beyond the shadows.

“I... c-cannot answer that. I am sorry...”

“Why can’t you? I... don’t understand.”

“Y-you... You do not want to know,” he said from wherever he was hiding. Somehow, I thought his voice sounded uneasy, as though he was scared. “Please, trust me, vanni. It is... for the best that y-you do not... see me.”

“W...why’d you say that?” I asked, genuinely confused.

“B-because I might... f-frighten you... and I do not wish to scare you.”

“Scare me? But... you don’t sound scary at all! Besides, when you were carrying me just a few moments ago, you were taking me back to the village, weren’t you? Why would I be afraid of someone who was just trying to help me?”

“Y-you do not understand. I... I am not... h-human.”

Obviously, that wasn’t something I was expecting to hear.

“...What do you mean you aren’t human?” I asked, even more confused than before. “What are you, then?”

“I am...” he began, but whatever inner struggle he was having didn’t let him finish. “N-no. I... I am sorry. J-just forget about me. Please.”

But I wasn’t having any of that.

“No. Stop hiding. Come out from those bushes and let me see you,” I gently, yet firmly said.

“B-but...”

“It’ll be fine. I won’t be scared, I promise.”

There was a long pause, and then...

“Very well. I... I will come out, a-as you wish.”

I watched as a dark figure slowly emerged from the shadows ahead. It was so short and small, at first I thought he might have been a fourteen year old boy crawling on all fours. But the truth slowly revealed itself as he moved closer. A pair of glowing amber eyes is all I could make out at first. Then, I began to notice the paws, the legs, the muzzle, the bluish coat of dark fur, those dog-like ears, that tail... The creature I was beholding was very clearly a wolf; one that approached me with his eyes downcast, as though he was ashamed of himself.

“H-here I am, vanni... j-just as you requested.”

I, of course, could barely believe what my eyes were seeing.

“Y-you... are a wolf,” I said, mouth agape. “A talking wolf.”

“I am more than that. I am what your people would call... a werewolf,” he said, still trying to avoid eye contact with me. “I... am a lycca.”

I was shocked speechless.

“P-please do not fear me,” he said. “I promise I mean no harm to you. I, uh... I simply wanted to carry you out of the forest safely... j-just as I had done the previous four times I found you sleeping here.”

“Y-you are a werewolf...” I said, finally remembering that I could speak words too.

“That, I am.”

“B-but— how... I mean, I thought werewolves walked on two legs!”

“T-this is only my feral wolf form. I... do possess the form you describe, b-but please do not ask me to show it to you, vanni. I would not, uh... dare insult your eyes with it.”

“Oh, um, a-alright, I guess...” I said as I sat down on the ground, wondering what he meant with ‘insulting’ my eyes. I wanted to ask, but... Well, I sensed that wasn’t something he was comfortable discussing at that time for some reason, so I decided to change the subject:

“Ah, yes, anyway...” I said. “I noticed you keep calling me ‘vanni,’ but that isn’t my name. It’s Marjorie... But you can call me Margie, if you want.”

Suddenly, his eyes lit up.

“Y-you would give me your permission to speak your name?”

“I, uh... Y-yes?”

“Oh, thank you! Thank you for granting me that honor, Margie-vanni! I am not worthy!” he said excitedly, bowing his wolf head before my very stunned self as though I had just knighted him or something.

After that, as you’d imagine, I asked him his name. Of course, he didn’t have one. That’s when he told me about how lycca go without a name until a vanni gives them one. By that point, I had vaguely understood that ‘vanni’ was either his word for ‘woman’ or a title of some sort. Now I know that not all vanni are women, and not all women are vanni; but back then that guess was all I had... which surprisingly was close enough, all things considered!

So, I asked him if it’d be okay if I gave him a name. Again, his eyes lit up with a kind of joy that took me by surprise. You should have seen how hard he was wagging his tail! It was like Christmas had come early for him or something. Anyway, I asked him what kind of name he would like, and he said that any name would be fine, so long as it came from the bottom of my heart.

“Alright. I’ll try to think of a good name for you. Maybe next time we meet I’ll have something,” I told him. “Oh, uh, I mean... We will meet again, right?”

“O-of course! So long as you wish it, we will meet again! H-however many times you would like!” he hurriedly said. He looked so happy!

Then, he guided me back to the edge of the forest, where I could see the village. Sunrise was coming and I needed to get back home before anyone noticed anything. So, after making arrangements to meet again that afternoon at six, we parted ways. As the sun was beginning to rise, I watched him turn around and speed away really fast into the forest.

‘Wow. Those are some seriously fleet paws...’ I thought to myself.

As promised, we met again that very same afternoon. I went into the forest and found him already waiting for me, sitting patiently like an obedient pup. It was absolutely adorable! We spent an hour talking about many things, but mostly about what it was like to live in the forest. I believe that was when he mentioned Howling Grove to me for the first time too. And when it was time for us to part again...

“Oh, I almost forgot! I think I already have a name for you,” I said to him as I was beginning to start on my way back home.

“Oh! D-do you?” he quickly asked, his tail wagging again.

“Well, I was impressed by how fast you can run, so... How does ‘Fleetpaw’ sound to you? Do you like it?”

“Fleetpaw...” he quietly echoed. “Yes! I would be honored to carry that name, Margie-vanni!”

“Well, then!” I said with an exaggerated flourish. “I hereby grant you the name of Fleetpaw, noble wolf of the forest! May you bear it with pride forevermore!”

“I shall!”

Then I returned home. We met again three more times on the next three afternoons. It was really nice to finally have someone my age to talk to, even though I couldn’t tell anyone about it. Okay, yes, he was technically three years old at the time, but you know what I mean. Anyway, it was like having a secret friend! Fleetpaw was so genuinely nice, if somewhat awkward and shy. But that only made him even more adorable to my eyes! And people called werewolves ‘monsters’? ‘Who are truly the monsters?’ I wondered.

The fifth time we met, that’s what we talked about.

“I never told you this, but... I’m so glad I met you, Fleetpaw. You’re the only one who has yet to make fun of me, and I appreciate you for that.”

He made a surprised face.

“W-what do you mean, Margie-vanni? Why would I... or anyone else want to make fun of you?”

“Oh, come on. You don’t have to pretend I’m not... you know... ugly.”

“...What?” he simply asked, tilting his head in confusion.

“Let’s face it. I’m... not very popular. The boys in the village sure made it their lives’ mission to remind me every single damn day of my existence that I’m nothing but a stupid fat cow. That’s my lot in life, I guess. It’s what I get for being born with this ugly fat face.”

He took a few steps forward and sat beside me, putting one of his paws on my hand.

“I could not imagine what kind of monsters you had the misfortune of growing up with, but... you are not ugly, Margie-vanni. You are beautiful.”

“Oh, don’t start making fun of me now, please,” I said, somewhat despondent.

“I am not doing so. I simply cannot look at you and see anything other than a beautiful vanni.”

Oh, how I wanted to believe his words, but...

“Stop lying to me! Don’t say I’m beautiful when I’m obviously not!” I shouted, crying.

He stood silent for a few moments, his gaze downcast.

“I am sorry,” he quietly said. “I did not know... how much you have been hurt. But I did not speak lies. Those ‘boys’ you mentioned did. Please do not... listen to them. They do not deserve it.”

“You... truly meant what you said?” I quietly asked as I tried to wipe my flowing tears. “You really think I’m beautiful? E-even though I’m short and fat... and I have all these stupid freckles? And I can’t see two yards in front of me without my glasses?”

“None of that matters to me. In fact, I... I rather like your freckles,” he timidly said as he kept his gaze cast on the ground, ears flat against his head. Somehow, I imagined that he was blushing hard under the fur of his face. “M-my point is... there is more to beauty than being short or tall, or fat or skinny. Do not let anyone tell you how to feel... a-about your own body. It is yours, and yours only.”

“I... I try, but... it’s not easy.”

“Oh, I know...” he said. “I, too, struggle with... the body Mother Moon has given me.”

That surprised me. Then I recalled what he had said only a few days prior about how he didn’t want to ‘insult’ my eyes with his werewolf form.

“You... think you’re ugly yourself?” I asked him.

“No, it’s... different in my case,” replied the timid wolf. “We lycca are apex predators, built big and strong, with ferocious claws and beastly fangs meant to rend flesh with ease. ‘Beauty’ is not a concept that could apply to us. It is... the sole domain of vanni. And rightfully so.”

Of course, I had a hard time trying to visualize such a cute, adorable wolf pup as anything remotely close to a ferocious, flesh-rending ‘apex predator,’ as he had put it.

“So, if not that... then what are you struggling with?” I asked, growing more curious by the second.

“Well... I was born a runt,” he said, speaking that last word with profound shame. “A-although I am an adult, I am stuck in a body that will simply not mature fully. I am smaller and weaker than all my packmates, and...” he paused. “And a weak lycca is not worthy of vanni.”

I wasn’t sure what to say. All I knew is that he was essentially suffering in his body like I was. Perhaps he thought the reason was different, but that didn’t seem to be the case to me. Finally, after a few moments of somber silence, I understood what I had to do.

“Fleetpaw,” I said. “Show me your werewolf form, please.”

He panicked.

“W-what? B-but— but— M-my stunted lycca form is an insult to your eyes! No vanni deserves to see something so unworthy!”

“That’s for me to decide, isn’t it? Come on, it can’t be that bad. I promise I won’t make fun of you,” I said with a smile.

He let out a big, heavy sigh.

“Alright,” he said, defeated. “The desires of a vanni always come before the desires of her lycca. I have no choice but to comply with your request.”

And so, very reluctantly, he closed his eyes and began to change. I watched in awe as that cute wolf started to rise on his hind legs, his body shifting as he slowly stood upright. Watching the transformation happen before my eyes was beyond fascinating. His forelegs became arms and his paws transformed into clawed hands; all while his torso abandoned its canine shape to become decidedly humanoid, with well-defined muscles and all.

At last, the transformation was complete, and there he was: Fleetpaw, the werewolf, standing before my astonished eyes. He was only slightly taller than me, and his physique... Well, you know what he looks like. Sure, he isn’t half as muscular as, say, Fang; but you have to admit he still has quite the athletic build. And, well, seeing as though he was the very first werewolf I had ever seen, it wasn’t like I had a frame of reference or anything. So, as far as I was concerned, he was a total hunk! Not that I don’t still think he is, of course!

What’s more, he wasn’t just a total hunk, but a shy one too! Oh, he was so adorable, squirming about as though he was praying for the earth under his feet to open up and swallow him whole! I wanted to hug him so bad, but I managed to control myself. Still, I swear I don’t know how I didn’t die from cuteness overload right there and then!

“T-this is my lycca form, M-Margie-vanni,” he said, his gaze firmly planted on the ground. “I... apologize for... s-sullying your eyes with my woefully inadequate werewolf self.”

“What in the world are you talking about?” I exclaimed. “You are absolutely adorable!”

He was shocked. Stunned. Flabbergasted.

“...B-but I’m so small and weak!” he feebly tried.

I shook my head.

“You asked me to believe you when you told me I’m beautiful, right? Well, now I’m asking you to believe me when I say you’re the most adorable thing in the entire universe. Can you do that?”

He looked at me with those big puppy eyes of his for a few moments, and then... his tail began to wag excitedly again.

“I... I can! A-and I will!” he finally said.

“Good. Now, it’s not every day that I can see a nice, friendly werewolf standing before me, or any kind of werewolf for that matter, so... can I touch you?”

“Y-y-yes, of c-course!”

Thus, I lifted a hand and slowly ran my fingers through the thick fur all over his very athletic chest. I don’t think I need to explain how enthralling that was; to feel that soft, fluffy fur of his under my hand. I couldn’t tell you how many new and strange things must have awakened in me at that moment.

“So fluffy...” I said dreamily as I ruffled the fur on his respectably manly pectorals, but then I realized what I was doing and drew my hand back with haste. “Oh, I—I’m sorry, I don’t know what I was thinking. I, uh... I hope that wasn’t too awkward for you, hahahah...”

“N-not at all. It is your privilege,” he said, and I was pretty sure he was blushing under his fur.

That night, back at home, I... Well, I’m not going to lie: I thought of him very vigorously under my bed sheets, if you know what I mean...

Anyway, I kept meeting with him every afternoon for the next few days. Thankfully, he didn’t feel as self-conscious about his werewolf body anymore. Or at least that was the impression I got. So we continued having long talks about this and that, often encouraging one another to be more comfortable with ourselves.

Now, I don’t know if it was my raging hormones, the natural attraction between vanni and lycca, his cute shyness, or the fact that he was such a yummy stud... or maybe it was all those things; but the point is, I couldn’t take my eyes off him. Or my hands!

Ever since that day, I always found a way to touch him whenever we met. “Petting your fur helps me relax,” I might have told him, but it was definitely an excuse I made up for myself so that I could indulge my hormone-fueled needs without feeling like a freak. ‘I’m not lusting over a creature that isn’t human. I’m simply relieving stress,’ I had thought to myself over and over. Of course, he didn’t mind me petting him at all. It was my privilege, as he said every time.

And so, whether I was being a freak or not, I thoroughly explored his hands, his arms, his shoulders... and his tail. I didn’t really dare to touch him anywhere else, but... Oh, girl. You better believe there were many other parts of his body I was dying to put my horny hands on. But no. That could only happen under my bed sheets at night, in the realm of my imagination.

Until one day I just couldn’t bear it anymore.

We were sitting on the grass, conversing as usual, and I was caressing the soft pads of his palm. Then, with no warning, I lifted his hand and pressed it against my cheek. He stopped talking instantly, but didn’t pull his hand back. So, I closed my eyes and began to rub my cheek against the palm of his hand, slowly. He simply allowed it to happen. Or maybe he was too stunned to react?

Eventually, I got up and sat astride on his lap, facing him. He looked so cute... I had to caress his cute doggy face, and I did.

“Why...” I said. “Why do I want to kiss your adorable wolf lips so badly?”

“M-Margie-vanni...” he began. “I am sorry. I—I think... our somas might be resonating. They want us to bond.”

“Our somas? What’s a soma?”

“The intangible body within the body. Y-you might know it as ‘soul.’ It is said that... t-the somas of vanni and lycca are inescapably fated to find each other and form a bond... And for that... I—I am truly, truly sorry.”

“But... why?” I asked, still caressing his fluffy cheeks. “Why are you so sorry for that?”

“B-because... I knew t-this would happen... f-from the moment I first saw you. I tried to keep my distance from you, but... C-clearly, it was foolish of me to think I could fight... t-the powerful forces that draw us together.”

“So... You don’t want this,” I said, my heart breaking inside. “I... I’m sorry. Of course you don’t want a freak sitting on you, touching you like a creep. I am... a horrible friend.”

“No, Margie-vanni. I... want this too. I also yearn to taste the honey of your lips... j-just as fiercely as you do. But—” he paused. “But I also want the best for you. And I am just a runt. I do not deserve you. I am not—”

“Stop.”

He stopped.

“Just... just stop,” I repeated as I leaned closer to him, looking him in the eye. “Stop belittling yourself for no reason. Who cares if you’re a runt? You are perfect, you hear me? You. Are. Per. Fect.”

That stunned him speechless again. I could almost see the inner struggle raging behind his big amber eyes. I just kept stroking his furry cheeks tenderly, patiently waiting for him to say something. And then, at last, he quietly spoke to me:

“A soma bond is for life. Are you sure you want me to be your soma-bonded lycca?”

“Fleetpaw, you adorable fluffball...” I said just as quietly, smiling. “Here. This is my answer.”

And that’s when I finally kissed him.

Somehow, it didn’t feel weird. No, it just felt right, as though we were always meant to be together, from the very beginning. It was like some reverse fairytale coming to life, where the werewolf was the prince or something. Oh, but I wasn’t a cute, dainty little princess in that scenario... Far from that; I was a ravenous monster! I’m not exaggerating: I greedily kissed and licked his lips all over like a hungry beast, savagely wrestling his tongue into submission with my own, and it was glorious!

But I didn’t stop there. I just couldn’t. My brain had completely shut down, and it was just my most primal instincts driving me. And they demanded that I mounted him. So that’s exactly what I did. I rode my cute little fluffball like a wild animal... Which is a bit funny, come to think of it, since you’d expect the werewolf to be the animal, but... Well, I guess that’s just how our soma bond works!

And that’s as far as I’m going to tell you about our first mating, girl. I mean, it’s not like you couldn’t figure out the rest on your own anyway! So, if you don’t mind, I’m just going to skip to after we were done. It was maybe half an hour later. My fluffball and I were lying there, on the grass, enjoying the deep bliss of our afterglow.

“Our somas have been linked, Margie-vanni,” he eventually said. “I am yours forever now.”

“Are you happy, wolfie?”

“I am. Beyond my wildest dreams,” he said with a contented sigh.

“Me too. I love you, fluffball. Thank you for coming out of those bushes for me on that night.”

“And I love you too, Margie-vanni. I promise I will devote the rest of my life to making you just as happy as you have made me.”

“You already made me plenty happy just now. I don’t think anything could ever top this.”

“Oh, I can think of one thing...”

“Hm? What do you mean?” I asked, wondering if there could truly be anything better than the hot, steamy and very forbidden sex we had just had.

“Well, there is an ancient lyccan ritual called ‘The Offering of the Fangs.’ Through it I can confer you the greatest gift a vanni could ever receive from her lycca. Now, the ritual requires me to bite you. It is painful, but if you endure it, you will receive the ability to take the form of a wolf or a lycca at will, with all the unparalleled freedom that comes with it.”

“So... if I let you bite me, I’ll become a werewolf just like you?”

“Yes, and then you will be one with the forest, forever protected by the silver light of Mother Moon. It would be as though a whole new world of sensations opened up before your senses. Or at least that is how most vanni tend to describe it.”

“That... sounds great, but... I don’t know if I’m ready for a change that big,” I confessed, somewhat scared. “Besides, I’m not too thrilled about the idea of you biting me. If it can wait, then I think I’d prefer to wait. For now, at least.”

“Of course! There is no rush! My lycca fangs will be ready to perform the offering when you are!”

Moments later, as the sun began to set, I said “See you tomorrow!” to him and started on my way back home. Although I hadn’t yet accepted his Offering of the Fangs, I was still a changed girl. The sparkling memory of the bliss I had experienced as I had him take my virginity and make me a woman was still fresh in my mind, and so was the gloriously stupid smile on my face. I was no longer Marjorie Benoit, the unlucky fat girl who would never know love, but Margie-vanni, Fleetpaw’s soma-bonded lover and mate.

And so, with a spring in my step, I came out of the woods and approached the village, just as I had done nearly every day for the past several days at that point. Little did I know that my days of living a relatively normal life as a relatively normal nineteen-year-old girl in St. Belaroix were over.

“Marjorie!”

I froze. My blood froze. Everything froze.

I turned to the voice and there she was. My aunt.

“Don’t go home,” she quietly, yet urgently spoke as she approached me. “Go back to the woods and never return.”

“...A-auntie? W-what are you—”

“Many of our neighbors saw you coming to and from the woods almost every day. Some of them alerted the guard of Roud, and they’re on their way now. They’re bringing dogs trained to detect the scent of wolves. Do you understand what that means? If you don’t leave right away, you’ll end up burning to death on a stake for lycanthropy!”

My soul might have as well ceased to exist within my body right then and there.

“B-but... H-how did you—” I managed to stutter out.

“I once heard the call of the forest too,” she began before I could even finish my question. “It happened fifteen years ago. I had met one of them, and we talked for hours, well into the afternoon. He was very nice, but I was married already, so I couldn’t accept his offer of love without sinning against the Word of God by committing adultery... no matter how much I might have desired it myself. In the end, I chose to refuse the call. I had to turn that lycca away because I was just too afraid to lose all I had worked so hard for. And that was the biggest mistake I made in my life. Even now I still regret it, but it’s too late for me. Now I’m fifty, so I’m no longer a vanni. I can’t forge a soma bond anymore, but you... you already did it, didn’t you?”

“I...”

“It’s alright. Go. Be happy with your chosen lycca, Margie. And don’t worry about me; I’ll be fine.”

I didn’t know what to say, but my eyes were already overflowing with tears.

“Th-thank you...” I finally said.

“One more thing,” she quickly added. “I want you to punch me hard in the face before you run away. Don’t hold back; you have to draw blood.”

“B-but, why??”

“Because if anyone’s watching us right now, that’s going to save my life. Otherwise, they might accuse me of aiding you in your escape. You understand? Now do it!”

I felt horrible, but she was right. If she needed to convince anyone that she had tried to stop me, nothing short of a broken, bleeding lip would have done the trick. So I gritted my teeth and whispered “I’m sorry” as pained tears streaked down my face.

Moments later, I disappeared back into the woods, crying a soundless cry of anguish. My bruised knuckles hurt, but it was hardly a nuisance next to the overwhelming shame I felt for what I had just done.

Fleetpaw found me fast. Either he hadn’t yet returned to Howling Grove, or other werewolves heard the commotion and went to fetch him for me. Whatever the case, I cried into his shoulder for several long minutes before I was able to tell him what had just happened. Then, once I told him about the guard of Roud and their trained dogs, he understood the severity of the situation and immediately took me to the grove. We, as well as the rest of the pack, stayed cooped in there for days — pretty much until we were sure the guard had left the village.

In the meantime, I got to meet the other lycca-vanni, and they all talked wonders about the Offering of the Fangs. “You’re missing out on the best part of being a lycca’s soma-bonded mate,” they’d tell me. “Yes, the bite hurts like hell, but you only have to endure it once. After that, I promise you, you’ll love your new forms so much you’ll want to kick yourself for not going through with it sooner!”

By the second day I was convinced.

So, after I told Fleetpaw of my decision, and after he had calmed down from the giant burst of tail-wagging joy it gave him, I followed the advice I got from the other girls and took off all my clothes. Turns out that if you don’t, they all get torn to shreds when you change, but you know that very well, don’t you? Heh, anyway... Once I was naked, he took my arm, recited the required lines, and sank his fangs into my flesh.

Yes, it hurt, but it wasn’t really that bad. Maybe my fluffball’s fangs weren’t as big as those of the other guys, or maybe the extra layer of fat sort of cushioned the bite. Hahah, I guess being overweight helped me a bit there. Anyway, you can imagine what happened next. I became a werewolf, and it was just as awesome as the others girls had told me. Yeah, they were one hundred percent right: I absolutely loved it.

I just loved how tall and strong I looked in that form. And I guess all the fat from my human self relocated to my — y’know — upper areas. Not that I was complaining, of course! My fluffball was particularly enamored with my, uh... boosted frontal assets, as you may call them. You have no idea how much he loves playing with them! Oh, and best of all, I later learned that the problems my human body has with handling sugars don’t carry over to my other two forms. So, as long as I stay as either a wolf or a werewolf, I don’t really have to worry about that condition anymore!

As for my aunt, well, I never really saw her again, except from afar sometimes. Unfortunately, she passed away last year. My uncle moved out of the village not long after her passing. I think he went to Roud, though I’m not sure. But that’s okay. Now, my only family is the pack, and I regret nothing.

And there you have it, girl. That was the story of how I accepted my fluffball’s Offering of the Fangs and joined the lyccan pack of Howling Grove.
