Chapter 02: Knowledge is Power
#2 of Demon Lord's Chronicles
Orithmorn, or Ori for short, now lives with Kuan the researcher, and with his help they start putting some pieces of the dragonoid's origin together, but even with the knowledge in their hands, it isn't enough to show a clear picture.
The ship finally docked in the military specified ports with the crew and soldiers working to unload everything they got during their trip while loading some supplies in. Kuan was talking with Captain Winters while Ori, or Orithmorn, the dragonoid, was busy helping the crew for as long as possible. "Thank you again, captain, for indulging me on this... trip. Regardless of how brief it was."
"No problem at all, even if the Academy didn't call me for help, I would have come either way." Winters reached for Kuan's hand, holding it gently in his own. "You know I'd do anything for you."
But Kuan yanked his hand away, quickly reaching into his pocket to pull out his phone. "Oh, look at the time, I better find my car before it really gets towed this time." And swiftly walked away. "Ori! Come on, we're leaving!"
"Coming!" Ori put down the four crates he was carrying, two on each shoulder, before jogging after the professor, briefly noticing the dejected look on the captain's face, but didn't pay it much mind at the moment. "Wow..." Even from the port, he could see the large buildings that rose high up in the air, for some reason he expected to see people in medieval clothing, but everyone wore a form of modern clothing and accessories. "This place is amazing."
"Wait till we actually get into the city." Kuan chuckled a bit at Ori's excitement, hopping into his sleekly-designed car, the dragonoid following suit, fastening their seat belts before driving off. With the roof of the car pulled back, Ori enjoyed the wind breezing past his face and body, leaning back in his seat with his hands behind his head, oblivious to Kuan's difficulty of keeping his eyes on the road, hence why he was driving slower than usual, as the dragonoid unknowingly put himself on display for, not just Kuan, but for every civilian they passed back.
They drove for a bit with Kuan pointing out some places of interest here and there, including a smithing shop which Ori will be pretty familiar with if he's going to be an adventurer, as well as the Adventurer's Guild, which was a pretty huge building in its own right, expected with it being the main hub for adventurer. It was then that Ori also noticed that they drove into the 'rich neighborhood', lots of fancy and glimmering houses stretching as far as the eye can see with each sitting upon a pretty impressive and sizeable piece of lang, he practically had to cover his eyes from how shiny everything was.
Soon enough, they finally arrived at Kuan's house, which was a bit contrasting with all the shine and glimmer of the other houses, mostly made of smooth marble, but with lots of details and trims painted black or a faded gold. "I always hated how I got practically flashbanged every time I step out of my house." Kuan explained as he parked in the designated space, allowing Ori to get a good look up close. It was a pretty big house still, but not as large or grand as the other houses, had a more simple design to it, about three floors if he counted right. "Well, come on in." Kuan called out to him as he stood at the open door, the dragonoid had to duck his head down a bit to get in, his horns briefly scratching the top of the door frame. "Welcome to my humble home."
As Ori stepped in, he immediately took notice of the small stepped with the shoe racks. "Yeah, I don't like people stepped into the house with dirty footwear on." Kuan quickly explained as he wiped his feet on a soft, towel-like mat. "And this, is for those who don't or can't have footwear on." Ori did the same since he wasn't wearing any shoes as well, letting out a small hum of content at the soft feeling the mat gave his soles, then finally stepped inside. Behind the first door to the right was the living room, the biggest room in the entire house with a lounging area with the wide TV, its shelf, and multiple gaming consoles pressed against the all-glass wall behind it, on the left side was a sliding, glass double-door that opened up to a yard with a pool on one side and a space for lounging on the other.
Right beside the door was a bar-style kitchen, with one side reserved for all kinds of drinks, mostly alcoholic beverages, while the other side was for preparing and cooking food, it's also where the fridge was. On the far side of the room, a small distance away from the yard door, was a smaller lounging area that was more of a miniature library, with two, large bookshelves standing side by side in the corner, a small distance beside the mini-library was a spiral-starcase that lead to the upper floors of the house. "Your place is huge, Kuan..."
"Meh, it's not that big to me, but it's home." Kuan downplayed the compliment with a shrug.
"Welcome back, Kuan." They turned to the stairwell as someone walked down, once the man was in full view, Ori saw that it was another garuda, a raven-garuda to be exact, with faintly shiny and smooth feathers and black raptor hands and feet, with his human part being more of a grey color instead of the usual human skin colors that the dragonoid expected. He only saw a small part of it because the man was wearing a purple robe with a good portion of his chest exposed. "And you brought a guest, I see."
"Ah, Zrennous." Kuan gestured to Ori as he introduced the two. "This is Orithmorn, someone I met on the expedition. He'll be living with us for a while." Then gestured to the raven-garuda. "Ori, this is my brother, Zrennous Dusk, or Zen for short."
"Greetings and a pleasure to meet you." Zen walked up to the dragon as they each reached for a handshake, the raven taking the form of the dragonoid in from head to toe. "A pleasure, indeed~"
"Pleasure's mine~" Ori, oblivious of the raven's analysing eyes, replied with his cheery tone.
"Hmm..." Zrennous hummed in thought as he held the dragonoid's hand for a bit longer. "Physical strength... and magical prowess. Interesting..." He held his chin in thought with his other hand, looking up at the dragon. "Magic Brawler, by any chance?"
"Um... I think so..."
Zrennous raised his eyebrow in question, turning back to Kuan for explanation. The eagle-garuda shrugged. "He's a bit of a special case. Will tell you about it when Isswak gets back."
"From your tone, I believe it's a serious subject. You sure you wanna include that irresponsible, party boy in on it?"
"Hey now, he might be a bit of a wild and free spirit, but he knows how to keep a secret and keep it well." Just then, the door practically slammed open, making Ori jump slightly, but the two garudas weren't phased. "Speak of the devil..."
"Woohooo! I'm baaack!" With that, in walked a third garuda, this one had a lighter-colored human body, while his feathers were pink in color, his beak was a bit on the long side but not as long as Zrennous' but it was a bit sleek with a slight curve at the tip, he was totally shirtless while wearing very short shorts, so the mystic markings on his sides and biceps were pretty visible, as well as his lean-buff physique. "Ayo~! Who's the stud?" He asked as he gave Ori a shameless look over.
Kuan let out a sigh of frustration. "Isswak, this is Orithmorn, or Ori, for short." He then turned to the dragonoid. "Ori, this is my second brother, and our resident all-out pervert: Isswak Dusk."
"Hello, hello, hello~" Isswak greeted in a suggestive tone, walking up to dragonoid and standing so close that their bodies were inches from pressing together, one hand shamelessly and gently rubbing against one of Ori's firm pecs, licking his beak hungrily. "Hmm... you look like a whole meal, right here~"
"Uh, um... t-thanks?" Ori didn't know what to do, but that rough, raptor hand actually felt good on his pec, his bulge slowly growing bigger from that touch alone just like the blush that was slowly painting his face.
"Ooohhh, and big where it counts, too~" Isswak's other shameless hand went down to grope and roll Ori's fat and hefty bulge in his palm. "Oof... that's pretty heavy!" He actually gave it a couple of bounces.
"Alright, you had you're fun!" Kuan pulled Isswak back and away from the dragonoid by the band of his shorts. "Where the fuck were you, anyways?"
"Was at Cherry's place, duh." He replied with a shrug like it was common knowledge.
"Of course..." Kuan pinched the bridge of his nostrils in frustration.
"Wish I could've joined you this time, but was caught up in some personal things." Zen stated as he made his way to the kitchen, grabbing one of the wine bottles, a glass, and poured himself some.
"Next time, I'm dragging ya with me~" Isswak promised as he swiped the cup from Zen's hands, taking a swing from it. "Ah, that's the good stuff. But I'm sticking to cheap ol' beer~" Isswak then noticed Ori practically eyeing his and Zrennous' body, his beak spreading into a suggestive smile. "Hey, stud. If you want to see more, you could've just asked, ya know~"
Ori's face exploded into a deep blush at that statement, quickly raising up his hands in defence. "Oh! Um... so-sorry for staring... Was kinda curious a bit..." He scratched a cheek with one claw a couple of times. "I noticed that you three look different than most avians I've seen."
Isswak raised an eyebrow in question, but Zrennous instantly understood what the dragonoid meant. "Oh? You haven't seen a Blessed Animaloid before?" The raven-garuda turned to their older brother. "Where is he from, again?"
Ori tilted his head to the side in confusion. "Animaloid? Blessed?"
"Let's just say he's been... away from society for quite a loooong time." Kuan briefly explained, feeling that this isn't the right time to tell his brothers the truth. "But to answer your question, Ori..." He made his way over to the mini-library in the corner and looked through... until he found the book he was looking for, explaining to the dragonoid as he flipped through the pages. "In this world, animaloids, the races who have non-human features and bodytypes, are split into four categories..." He flipped to one of the pages he was looking for and showed it Ori. The page, or pages rather, in mentioned showed four drawing, two on each page, of the bodies of anthropomorphic animal-like men, each with different features and characteristics, Kuan pointing each out as he explained.
The first picture was of a normal-ish-looking human but had slight facial features of an animal of sorts, the nose and cleft lips were an indication, as well as the hair, animal ears, and tail, their hair is colored the same as the fur that covers their shoulders upper back, arms, and legs, but unlike Kuan and the others, they had completely human hands and feet. These were the Half-Born, someone who's dominant genes were that of a human, but still had characteristics of an animaloid race, like ears, horns, the nose and cleft lips are an uncommon feature as it doesn't always appear on a half-born, also there is a chance that a half-born's lower body will be completely covered in fur, but that is a very rare occurrence. They are also physical superior to normal humans, but slightly weaker than a full-fledged animaloid.
The second picture was of an anthropomorphic wolf or canine with a completely human-like body, but it was covered in fur, they even had hands and feet like a human, but with a pawpad-like pattern on their hands and feet, they also had softer features than feral animal. Those are the Beast-Born, the most common animaloid race out there and they make the majority of the animaloid population around the world of Pandora. They are far superior to humans and a few other races, but still have the weaknesses of their feral counterparts. Also, regardless of what kind of animal they are, all beast-born are ominvores cause their anatomy is closer to that of a human's.
The third picture was that of what Ori could only explain as a werewolf. Large body, bulging muscles, digitigrade legs, and very rough facial features. As Kuan confirmed, these are the Were-Born, ones who are far superior in physical aspects, and easily tower over others, they also have more feral tendencies, so they are a bit common, but are not commonly seen among modern civilsation. Unfortunately, they also have a bad tendency to succumb to their wild side more than the other animaloid races.
And finally, there were the Blessed-Born. Animaloids like Kuan and his brothers who's bodies were part human and part beast-born, but they all have animal heads and forelimbs, as well as these markings on their human parts that are slightly different in desgin between each individual, yet the styles change from race to race, they also come with their own race names like Garuda for blessed-born avians.
"But, no offense, what makes your kind 'blessed'?" Ori asked after Kuan finished speaking, having moved this anatomy talk over to the living room, the dragonoid listening very intently.
"Because, according to history and religion, our kind are closer to how our gods and godesses look like." Kuan explained as he flipped through a few pages until he found the one he was looking for, showing it Ori. It showed portraits of beings with similar bodies to a blessed-born, all wearing strange regal clothing from various cultures.
"Ooohhh..." Ori looked at the portraits, taking notice of the mystic markings on the deities' human parts.
"Also, we are also the most attuned to magic, which is another thing that, supposedly, put us closer to our gods." Zrennous explained as he scooted close to Ori. "Other races also have their own differences and variants like the animaloids."
"Man, guess I have a lot to learn about this world, huh?" Ori mused to himself as he handed the book back to the eagle-garuda.
"And that can be done by adventuring, my guy!" Isswak suddenly piped in, chugging the last of his beer as he sat down on the other side of Ori, resting one leg over the dragonoid's own. "You definitely have the body for it and I bet the skills as well, right Kuan?"
"Oh, he does. And I was gonna suggest adventuring to him as well." Kuan confirmed as he closed the book and set it aside. "I'm pretty sure he could even put the heroes to shame."
"Whoa, bro. Careful that no one hears you talking like that about their precious, decorated human-weapons." Isswak mockingly warned, ending with a chuckle.
Noticing Ori's confused look, Zrennous explained. "They mean the heroes who are always their to fight against the Demon Lord and their forces. They're held up in a very high caliber, maybe even higher than the Council themselves." He let out a small sigh with a shrug. "But, as you saw with these two, not everyone view them in such positive light."
"Hmph, bunch of uptight adult-children if you ask me." Isswak scoffed in clear disdain in his voice. He then looked at his older brother. "And what makes you so sure that he's stronger than them?"
"I have my suspicions and guess, after all, you're probably in the presence of the new Demon Lord." Kuan said that oh-so-casually.
"Ah, I see, I see. The Demon Lord, huh...?" Isswak mockingly agreed... but then the color drained from his and Zrennous' faces as they slowly turned to look at Ori, who had an embarrssed look on his face.
"EEEEEHHHHHH!!!!" Both screamed in unison, their voices echoing briefly all the way outside the house.
A quick explanation from Kuan later, Ori and the brothers drove in the eagle-garuda's car over to the Adventuring Guild to get him registered. They passed by the building briefly and at a distance, but now that he was standing in front of the building itself, Ori noticed that it was way bigger up close and takes quite the space of land all for itself.
They stepped in and were met with the loud and boisterous sounds of the men and women in there, staff and adventurer's alike. The inside was exactly what anyone expected, a long reception counter facing the large double-doors, on the wall beside the doors was lined with notice boards, which were a few, large touch screens with small, pedestal-like machines right below each screen, each one with a smaller tablet jutting from either side for personalised use, this is where the missions and private requests are posted for all to see and adventurers to choose from to undertake, meanwhile on the other side was an area that was a tavern-like restaurant for the adventurers to rest up before and after a quest, having themselves a hearty meal or a good drink or two.
They were met with a half-rabbit girl with white rabbit ears, and fur, as well as an animal-ish nose and cleft upper lip. "Welcome to Kanasa's Adventurer's Guild. My name is Melody, how can I help you?" She was dressed in a neat uniform with the blue, yellow, and black colors of this guild's branch. Her expression and ears perked up as she noticed the group walking in. "Oh, the Dusk brothers. It's been a while."
"Good morning, Melody. It sure has, didn't see you for a while in this branch." Kuan was the one who spoke, they agreed before heading over that he would be the one to handle everything. "I want to get my friend here registered as an adventurer, please. With the tests and everything." He explained as he gestured with a thumb to Ori.
"Yes, I got transferred for a while to another branch because they were horriblly understaffed. But that aside, are you sure about the tests? They are not really mandatory these days, you know."
"I know, but, uh... call it an experiment."
She let out a small chuckle, one hand in front of her mouth. "You and your experiments. Alright, let's see here..." She mumbled to herself as he flipped through the pages of a registry book in front of her.
"What are those tests about?" Ori asked in a whisper.
But Kuan explained in a normal voice. "It's just to measure a person's strengths and prowesses in both physical and magical aspects." He quickly added before Ori asked the obvious, other question. "They were mandatory a long time ago, but a lot of people made a stink about it because with those tests, your Rank would be pretty high or low, depending on the results. Some complained that they give the less competent a great advantage because they can undertake the more difficult but high reward missions, another half did so for a similar reason, but moreso because they believed that these less competent adventurers shouldn't be undertaking such difficult quests to begin with just because they were physically strong or have high magical aptitude."
Melody suddenly piped in. "I wasn't around during the times of the old system, but I kept hearing stories about how pretty powerful individuals succumbed to monsters or natural disasters beyond their knowledge. Scary stuff, indeed." She flipped the book around to them and pointed at a small space. "You guys are in luck, no one's taking the test today, so you can go right in. Just sign your name here, the date here, and the type of test you want to undertake here." She explained as she pointed at the designated spaces before handing Ori a pen.
He took the pent and wrote his name and other data in a surprisingly neat and graceful handwriting. "Uh... what sort of tests are there?" He asked as he turned to Kuan, pen still in his hand.
"Physical and Magical. We'll take both so right those down." Kuan again explained briefly, the two remaining Dusk brothers watching from a short distance.
"Really, both?" Melody asked in surprise and a bit of awe as she looked over Ori briefly. "A physical and magical attributed adventurer is pretty rare."
"Here." Ori handed the book and pen back to her once he finished writing everything down.
"Orithmorn..." She read his name to herself. "That's a pretty fancy name for a dragonoid." She then put the pen and book away before pointined to a door on the side. "If you'd follow me, please." They did as instructed, followed closely by Isswak and Zrennous.
"You think this is okay?" Isswak whispered to the raven-garuda. "I mean, this could easily bust the whole 'secret identity' thing wide open if witnessed by the wrong people."
"Let's let Kuan handle this one, he clearly has a plan." Zrennous shrugged with a casual expression. "Besides, if some does ask questions, we can just say that he's someone who's been training rigorously all his life and these are the results, no pun intended." That was the story that they all agreed on before heading out, in case someone too curious and nosy for their own good decided to ask some questions.
Finally they arrived at a spacious room with nothing but a large pentagram drawn in the middle and a small pedestal with a glass orb on top of it. Melody stood beside the young, human lady in a magician's outfit as she explained, for Ori's sake. "This magic orb will test out your magical potency and personal mana pool, calculating both before giving an approximate number that results from that calculation. Jessica, if you please."
"Right." The young lady, Jessica took it from there as she explained what they had to do. "You first reach out for the orb with both hands, without touching it, then try to concentrate and let your magic flow into it. The orb will do the rest."
Something inside of Ori wad giving him a small sense of dread, but he did as instructed. Stepping into the pentagram and reaching out for the orb, he then closed his eyes, tried to calm himself down to let the magic flow smoothly and slowly. Once his magic was received by the orb, it began glowing brightly, catching everyone by surprised, numbers suddenly appearing above it and were randomizing at pretty high speed. "Um, is it supposed to do that?" Before anyone could answer his question, the orb suddenly went dark, the numbers disappearing... "Um..." *Crack... CRASH* The orb suddenly exploded into many smaller pieces and fragments, the two ladies yelping out in shock. "I didn't touch it! I swear!" Ori quickly held up his hands in defense.
"That... was unbelievable..." Jessica exclaimed in a shocked voice, picking up a fragment and looking at it. "When the Hero of Magic took this test he only managed to crack it a bit... this is something different entirely..."
Melody suddenly turned to Ori, making the dragonoid jump a bit. "Excuse me... where did you say you were from?"
Before Ori could say anything in his shocked state, Kuan jumped in. "He was stranded on a secluded island that we passed on our expedition. Poor man has no recollection of his past, so I figured that this would help jog his memory a bit." He placed his hands on his hips. "Well, now we at least know that he has some amazing magical prowess. On to the physical strength test?" Melody just nodded silently, unable to form coherent words in her still shocked state.
She ushered them out and soon enough, into another room, this one was a bit smaller and had a device that was supposed to test physical strength, it looked like a small mattress with some heavy padding and metallic plating inside, both hooked to a mechanical device that will also give an approximate number that should represent the individual's power level. The person overlooking this test is a hairy, muscular orc with a bald head and a chipped, left tusk, wearing nothing a furred, leather waist cloak and leather pants. "Been a while since I've seen you boys around here." He instantly pointed out Ori as the one taking the test, giving him a once over. "You're a big boy."
Melody introduced the orc to the dragonoid. "This gruff man here is Torug Ironskin. He'll be the one to see how strong you are."
"Hmph..." Torug walked up to Ori, giving him a look over. "You might have the build, but muscles without any strength in them are just hot-air balloons." Then walked back and gave the device a couple of pats. "Show me what you got. All your strength!" He demonstrated by giving the machine a powerful punch, a small display above rolling through the numbers before settling on '83', the orc letting out a prideful huff as he pointed at the number with a thumb. "The closer your number is to a 100, the stronger the machine deems you to be. But honestly, these are just numbers." He gave one arm of his a hard flex, the bicep bulging out and firmly pressing the veins against the skin as it mapped out the muscle. "Physical strength is always changing in time, you either become stronger or weaker, and no one can decided which path you take but yourself. Certainly not a decorated sardine can like this thing."
"Okay, we know your stance on these machines already. Can you please let the young man do his test?" Melody finally interjected and put a stop to the orc's ranting. "Mr. Orithmorn, if you please."
Another sense of dread filled the dragonoid as he walked up to the machine, turning back to Kuan, who gave him a nod. "Just your physical strength, no need to add magic into it." Torug gave the garuda a questioning look, but didn't say anything as he waited. Ori took a deep breath before rolling his right shoulder... pulling back his arm and clenching his hand into a tight fist, every muscle in that arm tensing and flexing in preparation for the strike... and then... *WHAM* The punch was delivered with an abnormal impact, but it didn't stop there as the entire machine was punch straight through the wall and right into a few buildings behind it, just a constant *BOOM-BOOM-BOOM-BOOM-BOOM* the machine crashing through about six or seven walls in perfect succession, finally stopping at the eighth wall and remained stuck there, leaving quite the smoking crater in it.
"Whoa..." Everyone looked in complete shock at the hole, and multiple holes after it. "Now that's physical strength..." Even Torug was pretty shocked, but then composed himself and looked at Kuan. "You know that these damages are coming out of your pocket right?"
"All in the name of science..." He tried to downplay his situation, but these repairs will be quite the dent in his finances.
Melody was on the side rubbing her head with her fingers as she tried to make sense of it all. "More magic power than the Hero of Magic... more physical strength than the Hero of War... Who exactly is this man?"
Zrennous was suddenly behind her, placing his hand on her shoulder. "Someone who needs all the help he can get to regain his memories." Then whispered to her. "Also, we would appreciate it if you and the other two kept this between yourselves. We don't want people coming after him, especially the church."
"He could be a new hero and that will bring a lot of prestige with it." She explained more to herself than to Zrennous, but then turned to look at Ori, who was busy apologizing to Kuan and Torug for the inconvenience. "But, I get what you mean. I'll talk with Jessica and Torug to make sure they keep this a secret."
After undertaking the tests, Melody brought them back down to the main area and told them to wait a bit while she printed his adventurer ID for him, so they stood in front of the mission board and just looked at what's available. But this quiet moment, regardless of the noise behind them, didn't last long. "Hey there, big dragonoid!" They turned to see a human with quite the impressive mustache donned in full, knight-like armor with a large shield strapped to his back and a sword on his belt. "You look like someone who can handle himself in a fight or two. Wanna join my party? I promise that the Royal House will treat you right." Even under all that armor, one could tell that the man had the physique and strength to hold all that weight.
Before Ori or the others could reply, a grey-furred wolfman, clearly a blessed-born with a dark-tan skin tone, came up to them. He was wearing a leather vest with furred arm holes and inner trims and tight, leather pants, practically putting his buff body on semi-display, he also wore golden gauntlets with a fire motif. "Forget this old codger. The Steel Fangs is your way to go."
"Back off, the two of ya." Another party leader joined in, this time another dragonoid with faded-blue and yellow scales. His heavily muscular body was donned in a leather strap over his chest and a thick paulderon, while the only thing covering his lower body is a long, leather, waist cloak "He's a fellow dragonoid, a man of scales. So the Grandeur Scales should be a natural choice here!"
While the three party leaders argued among themselves, Isswak gave Ori a nudging to his side with an elbow. "Someone's popular~" Yet again, Ori was interrupted before he could say anything by someone pulling him aside.
This time, it was a woman with a fair, light-colroed skin and crimson-red hair, her outfit looked like a more... suggestive version of a magician's outfit, complete with the large, witch's hat. "How about you join us, handsome?" She asked in a low, seductive tone, pressing her impressively sized chest against his arm.
Then from the other side, a lean-bodied beast-born black cat male with bands around his biceps and neck, lots of golden and silver ear piercings, and wearing nothing but baggy, dark-colored pants with a thick book strapped to his waist, hugged the baffled dragonoid's other arm to his chest. "The Midnight Coven shall welcome you with open, generous arms." He spoke in a soft voice and an equally seductive, gently tracing a finger against Ori's strong arm. He let out a small chuckle as he noticed the dragonoid's face burning with a fierce blush, steam practically whistling out of his ears as he looked at the cat. "It seems we found where his interests lie, sister." He addressed the lady on the other side of the man between them, her letting out an amused chuckle of her own as the feline pressed himself harder against Ori, the dragonoid's hand inches from his crotch. "I'll be sure to treat you verrrry well~" He let out a suggestive purr midsentence, which made Ori blush even harder, his face was practically glowing.
"AHEM!" Everyone stopped what they were doing as they turned to an irritated Melody. "I get that you all are excited to see a new face around here. But Mr. Orithmorn is new to the city, so I don't you giving him the wrong impression." She walked up and began shooing them away. "Go on, get back to your groups now. Come on." They reluctantly dispersed and went back to their respective parties, but the black cat turned around to give him an air kiss he retreated, his hips swaying seductively.
"Sorry about that. These people just get excited when they see a fresh face around." She apologized as he pulled out an ID card and an amulet with a bronze, coin-like metal with a green-blue jewel embedded in a hole in the middle. "Your ID and this amulet will be your ranking indicator, you can use the amulet to check on your personal stats, level, progress, etc, everything an adventurer needs with just a flip of a coin, so to speak." Ori tested that out, holding up the amulet and watched as a holoscreen of sorts popped out of it, it surprised him a bit, but then became pretty intrigued by it. "The more missions you undertake, the higher your rank goes, so be sure to do as much as you can, because the more missions you complete, the more people you help in the process." She then looked around a couple of times before whispering to him. "If it was up to me, I'd give you a Gold or Platinum amulets, but those aren't the rules anymore." She gave him a small wink as she handed both items to him. "And with that, you're officially and adventurer!"
"And just in time, too." Kuan suddenly piped, having walked away from the commotion for a bit, now coming back with one of the tablets in hand. "I found a few good mission to start things off for us. Here you go." He handed the tablet to Melody who looked over the quests to make sure that they are of appropriate rank before giving him a nod and walking back to her station. While she was setting things up, Kuan walked up to his new dragonoid friend with a knowing smirk on his face. "So... someone's popular. Barely an adventurer and people are already squabbling for your attention."
"Please don't say that, I felt like I was suffocating in there." Ori then turned to Isswak and Zrennous. "And you two could've helped, you know."
"You looked like you were having sooo much fan back there." Isswak gave his teasing answer as he poked the dragonoid in the chest.
"I hate crowds." Was Zrennous' short and simple one.
"Look, you'll have to get used to it. Someday you'll be coming here on your own and there wil be people who are going to ask you to join them on a quest, their party, or even their guild. It's a very common occurrence, especially with new adventurers."
"Yay me..." Ori let out a sigh of defeat, just as Melody called to them to make the final checks... and they were off on Orithmorn's first mission!
"Poison Shot!" Ori called out as he blasted a large, feral boar with LARGE tusk that looked like they were made of a material that looked like metal or a similar ore with the very first skill he learned, but took aim once again as more boars charged at him. "Poison Rapid!" He straightened out his hand like a spear and from his nails shot a barrage of poinsnous bullets, hitting all of the boars charging at him, downing them all in an instant. "Yes!"
"Very nice. You've been learning, I see." Kuan praised as he gave Ori a pat on the back. Ori gave him a proud smile as he put what he learned about magic from Kuan to use, one of the things he learned was that common 'Shot' spells are separated into multiple categories.
Shot: Basic projectile
Lance: Has a chance to pierce through the target
Rapid: Barrage at a single target or in a wide cone
Burst: Explosive shot in a wide cone
Blitz: Multiple homing shots
Bomb: Heavy, explosive projectile
Snipe: Long distance shot
"I just have a great teacher, is all." Ori bashfully scratched his cheek with a claw.
Kuan shook off the blush that was coloring his face. "Well, this should be enough for today, we'll tackle the last mission tomorrow." He looked around for a bet until he saw a nice spot in front of some trees in the distance. "Let's camp there for the night."
It didn't take long before their camp was set up, the firepit built and the fire crackling nicely, that's when the cooking utensils came out and something inside Ori sparked all of a sudden. "Hey, mind if I handle the cooking?" The garuda trio looked at each other and figured it wouldn't hurt, so they let him do the cooking while they set out to do their own thing. Zrennous and Kuan built a magical alarm system and a barrier around their campsite, just in case, while Isswak went out to grab some edible fruits and vegetables from the forest, and with the number of Steel Tusk boars, they had plenty of meat to last them a few days.
Soon enough, the stew that Ori had in the large pot was cooking nicely, the other three actually drooling as they waited anxiously, the delicious aroma invading their nostrils. "Come on, man... is it done yet?" Isswak whined as he sat pretty stiffly in his place, waiting for the food to be done.
"Aaannndd... done!" The moment his announcement came out, the other three let out brief cheers as they held out their bowls, not the exact image, but he let out a small chuckle as he imagined how chicks keep their mouths wide open for their mother to feed them. "Alright, calm down..." He served them all with equal portions then served himself, instantly digging into his stew. "Hmm... not bad."
"Noh ah!?" Isswak started with a shocked look on his face, his cheeks totally stuffed with meat and vegetables. "Ish ish ah hest!" He exclaimed loud,y spitting soup and food bits as he did right before stuffing his face some more... until he began chocking.
"And there it goes... Here, swallow before you speak, dude." Ori chuckled slightly as he handed a canned drink to Isswak, who gulped a good portion of it down to wash down the lump of food stuck in his throat.
"He's not wrong though, this is pretty great!" Kuan praised as he dug into his bowl, while Zrennous let out small hums of content with, almost, every mouthful. As they ate, Kuan noticed Ori looking at him inquisitively. "Hmm, something wrong?"
"Just curious about your beaks is all... I noticed that they move the same way that normal lips do." He actually noticed before, but only took note of it now.
"Oh yeah, our beaks are pretty much an avian's lips, that are a bit soft and slightly maliable, allowing us to form normal words. Unlike our ancestors who had solid beaks." To prove his point Kuan moved his beak around in ways that only normal lips can do, unlike feral birds.
"Also..." Zrennous started before pressing the tip of his sharp-looking beak against Ori's arm and pressed in slightly, the dragonoid noticing how the beak actually bent in slightly. "As you can see, we can't really use them as proper natural weapons, but they should be efficient against softer tissue or materials. So we can't actually 'peck' someone in defence, not effeciently."
"However, as you must have noticed, we can actually chew our food normally, right?" Kuan added and waited for Ori's nod of confirmation... then opened his beak wide and pointed inside, the dragonoid actually seeing two rows of sharp teeth, then Kuan closed his beak again. "As you saw, our beaks are practically... protective caps for our mouths, for a lack of better descreption."
Ori let out hums of understanding before eating the last bits of his bowl of stew which containted lots of the boar meat, not noticing how Isswak scooted close to himself until their arms were touching. "I can show you some other things these beaks of ours can do." He offered in a seductive tone, one hand shamelessly reaching down to rub the dragonoid's thigh, massaging the muscles as it slowly trailed up toward his growing bulge.
"Do you have to do that now? We're eating over here." Kuan reprimanded as he glared at his brother.
"What, just trying to show my gratitude for the amazing dinn- WHOA!" Isswak jumped slightly as Ori's body suddenly jolted and let out a brief flash of light. "The fuck was that!?"
"I... think I just learned a few new skills..." Ori explained as he looked at his hands. "Must've been the boar meat..."
"Wait, what!? You can do that!?" Even Kuan was surprised... but then he thought back a bit... until the light bulb of realization lit up in his head. "Wait a minute... Poison Shot... Spike Shot... both of those are monster skills... How did you get them again?"
"I, uh... was kinda desperate, so I resorted to eating the meat of the monsters in the cave."
"And you gained those skills from eating monster meat?" Ori nodded to confirm Kuan's suspicions.
Ori then stood up and walked a short distance away from the camp, standing in front of a pretty sturdy-looking tree with a wide and thick body. He took a charging stance with his shoulder pushed forward... "Iron Rush!" He called out as he charged the tree, his body covered in a grey-ish aura as he slammed into the tree with a loud *SMASH* the tree toppling down a second later.
"Holy shit..." Isswak stated in complete awe.
"Well... that's not something you see everyday..." Zrennous was in a similar state, but his eyes had a tiny sparkle in them.
"So... consuming the monster's flesh gives him extra powers and abilities. Interesting..." Meanwhile, Kuan's inner researcher began formulating plans and all sorts of tests for that specific skill. But until then... "We'll worry about all of that later, don't want dinner to get cold." Isswak and Zrennous practically jumped at the pot, scooping up second helpings for themselves as Ori returned, doing the same for himself and Kuan.
The next morning, they finished the last mission on their list by defeating a bunch of Salamantoxins, giant salamnders with a sickly green and purple coloring, as well as stingers on their tills and middle claws. Kuan practically force-fed the salamander meat to poor Ori, the dragonoid crying at the horrible taste but ate it nonetheless, and that earned him a couple of new skills: Venom Claw and Toxic Breath, as well as raised the power of his Poison Resistance passive.
Once everything was done and the items they should be delivering were collected, they headed back home and made the delivery, earning quite the sum of money for their troubles, of course, all of it went to Ori as he was the one who did most- well, all of the 'heavy lifting' so to speak. With that, the group finally retired him for the night and had a hearty dinner with the remainder of the boar meat they had gathered.
Once everyone settled down, the dishes washed, it was time for a quick shower before bed, although Ori decided to take his time though. "Aaahhh... this is the life~" He mused to himself in content as he soaked his body in the outdoor onsen that was built in the yard behind Kuan's house, the hot water relaxing his tensed muscles, him practically melting in the water. "How I'm learning about this place now?" As he looked up at the star-dotted sky above, he began humming a soft song to himself, head gently swaying left and tight to the imaginary tune.
"Someone's having fun." Ori turned after hearing the voice and the two pairs of feet coming closer, seeing Zrennous and Isswak standing there with nothing but pretty short towels around their waists, their bodies on full display with the dragonoid noticing their markings on their human parts. He already saw Isswak's, but Zrennous' were covered by the robe that morning, so now he could clearly see how they coiled around his arms, from shoulders to elbows, as well as the chain-like pattern that started from the sides of his nipples and coiling to his back.
"Oh, hey! Yeah, this just feels really good~" Ori let himself slide a bit more under the water, his body practically lying down in the pool, it was pretty shallow to prevent accidental drowning, but it was pretty soothing nonetheless.
"Well, that's good to hear." Zrennous and Isswak both tossed their towels aside before stepping into the hot onsen with Ori, sitting down on either side of the dragonoid.
Isswak was the first to press himself closer to Ori, surprising the dragonoid a bit. "So... the new Demon Lord, huh?" His hand was once again gently rubbing at Ori's thigh. "Still can't believe it..."
"Well, he's sitting between us, right now." Zrennous scooted closer on Ori's other side, his hand being slightly more adventurous as he rubbed the inside of Ori's thigh, his pinkie very close to the dragonoid's crotch.
Ori blushed deeply at the attention he was getting from these two, but instead of fighting against it, he decided to play along this time, slightly spreading his legs for them to give both more room for their roaming hands. Both garudas watched in awe as his cock slowly rose to full length above the water, both of their eyes wide in awe with Isswak swallowing some nerves. "Holy shit... that's a fucking monster..." He got even bolder as he moved his hand up to grab and stroke at Ori's monster cock. "Where do you hide all this?"
"It's... difficult to do so..." Ori admitted with a deep blush on his face, taking a sharp intake of breath once he felt Isswak's hand stroke the tip.
"These aren't something to joke about either." Zrennous stated on the other side of Ori as one hand cupped one of his balls in his palm, gentle stroking and rolling it around. That stimulated Ori even more, his chest rising with each deep breath he took, the heat of the onsen wasn't helping matters, either.
"Well then... shall we?" Without waiting for a reply Isswak changed his position a bit till he was almost laying sideways, his head right in Ori's lap as he began lapping at that shaft with his slim tongue, flicking at the sensitive organ with the very tip, occasionally dipping it into the slit. On the other side Zrennous took the same pose, but lowered himself a bit more to let his tongue caress and tease those full and heavy balls of the dragonoid. "How is it?" Isswak asked as he gently stroked that thick shaft in his hand.
"It's... good... Very good..." Ori breathed out, his eyes drifted between the two garudas servicing him like that, slightly spreading his legs a bit more.
"That's good to hear, now then..." Isswak gave that thick length a slow lick from base to tip, briefly flicking the slit with his tongue... then finally took it into his mouth. Ori tensed up a bit, expecting the beak to scratch into his precious organ... but no pain came, the best he could describe as a strangely stiff, plastic-like orifice, otherwise, it was pretty good. Once he was sure that his manhood wasn't in any danger, he allowed himself to relax and enjoy that expert mouth/beak working his shaft, Isswak putting plenty of effort into giving the best head he can. "Mlg... Glk... Mghh... Glp..."
"Fuuuuuuck..." Ori leaned back in his position, his breathing becoming a bit harder and more labored, he looked down at the two garudas practically worshipping his crotch his eyes trailing down their bodies, with their current positions, their rears were practically sticking out. So, without really thinking, his hands slowly slid over their backs and to their smooth, naked asses, gently groping and rubbing them in each hand. both garudas enjoyed that, if their moans of content were anything to go by, so he decided to up the ante a bit... and slipped a finger into each of their cracks, directly massaging their puckers, earning him a louder moan from each.
Seeing, or rather feeling, the dragonoid getting a bit more into it, Isswak and Zrennous decided to finish things up with a bang as they doubled their efforts, Isswak switching from simple bobbing to completely, and quite expertly, deepthroating that huge cock with each down push. "Glk... Mglk... Glug... Glp..." Meanwhile, Zrennous kept working those heavy man orbs with his tongue while his hand moved a bit further down, gently rubbing and massaging Ori's hole's entrance, just like he was doing to their own.
"G-guys... you m-might wanna back off a bit..." Ori warned as he felt his orgasm inching closer and closer, and judging from this intense feeling his having, it's gonna be a big one. "I...sswak... I'm serious here!" Instead of backing off or slowing down, Isswak actually put a lot more effort into pushing the dragonoid over that cliff! "Alright... you asked for it!" The pink-feathered garuda let out a small choking sound as he felt Ori's hand on his head, relaxing his throat as much as possible...
And then he felt it, he didn't need to hear the mighty roar of the dragonoid's to know that it was a big one! *GLP GLP GLGK ULP* He kept swallowing and swallowing and swallowing some more, his throat bulging with each throb of that dragonoid cock, soon enough he was overwhelmed *GHK! GWAG! HULGK!* the rest either splashed back out of his mouth or sprayed out of his nose, feeling a bit light-headed from the lack of air with such a thick object lodged deep in his throat. Somehow, he managed to push Ori's hand off of his head and instantly got off of that cock for some precious air, but that meant that Ori's shaft was free to spray high in the air like a hose, raining down on all three of them.
Taking his chance, Zrennous suddenly grabbed onto Ori's cock and greedily shoved it into his mouth, letting the rest of the dragonoid's load surge right into his throat, since it was near the end he had a better time handling it than 'poor' Isswak, but it was still plenty filling as he just kept swallowing and gulping away for a good minute or so. Once it was over, he gave it a final, hard suck, almost like sucking on a straw, before finally pulling off with a wet *schlurp*. "Aaahhh... that was delicious~" He complimented as he licked his beak in content.
"Glad you had- *urp* -had fun..." Isswak grumbled, but still had a happy smile on his face. "Hope that was good for you too, Ori~... Ori?" They looked up at the dragonoid... and sure enough, he was out for the count, totally knocked out and unable to hear a single word, clearly, the heat got to him more than it should. "Sheesh, and here I thought dragonoids can handle the heat."
"What did you expect after blasting us with such a big load... better make sure he's hydrated properly when he wakes up." Zrennous mused as he got out of the spring. "Come on, help me get him to bed."
"Do I have to?" Isswak whined, but a glare from his younger brother was motivation enough. "Fine, fine. You take his legs, I'll take the arms." It was a bit of effort, but they, eventually, took him all the way up to the guestroom upstairs, Zrennous using some magic to clean him up real quick before putting him to bed. "Sweet dreams, stud~" With that, Isswak closed the door behind him, leaving the dragonoid to sleep in peace.
