Unjust Love

Doberman's Love: Part one

By Roofles

Henry was one of the first people out the door when the bell rang at the all-boys school near the park. He hated the stuffy navy-blue school uniform they forced him to wear along with the other boys who yammered and chatted away around him as he quickly made his way to his locker. He dropped off the textbook he didn't need before slamming it shut and trying to make a hasty getaway before being notice.

Henry wished he had that kind of luck.

“Hey," but of course that would've been nice. Able to get home for the weekend without someone trying to get something from him.

“What do you want, Brent?" Henry asked, his sharp tone would've made anyone else back off. Unfortunately, Brent was either too stupid or too desperate to notice or care.

“Just asking what your plans are for the weekend, is all." Brent was dodging the question. Tipping toeing around it and Henry audibly groaned as he turned towards the jock. He was flanked by two of his cronies Henry had never bothered to learn their names. Curtis and… Loni? He didn't care enough to know and just ended up calling them thing one and thing two in his head.

“I got a family thing." Henry lied easily enough. It didn't deter Brent in the least.

If someone didn't know Henry, or rather Henry's family, one would've thought the older boy was cornering him as Brent rested an arm against his locker and leaned down over the high schooler. Brent had been held back a year due to an incident. His family had gotten it erased, paying off the poor victim he'd bullied into flunking out if they agreed to holding Brent back a year so there were no other incidents.

They'd agreed, taken it out on their son and Brent came back twice as pissed off as he normally was. His bullying had increased. This, however, wasn't one of those times. Even if it appeared that way to everyone else quickly rushing past them in the hall, refusing to look as thing one and thing two stood guard for Brent.

He was large and imposing. Looming over Henry who was a head shorter than the other guy was.

If Henry didn't have his last name, he might've been intimidated or worried about Brent choosing him as his next victim but knew better. People like Brent kissed up to and licked the floor people like Henry walked on. All because of Henry's family name and good standing. Rich. Popular. Famous. One thing after another onto the list of problems he had to deal with. Brent being one of them but nowhere near the top.

“Brent, I got plans." Henry repeated himself, unsure if the other guy heard him or not. Or if he even understood the English language.

“Oh? Anything interesting?" Brent finally asked, blinking several times and Henry could smell the lunch on his breath with how close he was now standing. “Something my dad might wanna' know about?" Brent brought up and yet with that face, that smile, Henry was sure Brent wanted something else from the high school senior instead.

This could've been a form of bullying Henry supposed as he was forced to rest back against the cold metal locker and look up at his classmate who was too tall to be a high schooler. It was more akin to harassment than straight up bullying, though that was a form of bullying… wasn't it?

Henry was more focused on the thought than anything Brent was saying.

“Just want to help out family, you know. My dad owes a bit of debt, see…" Brent just yammered on and on and on to the point Henry wished Brent would just punch him instead of having to put up with his sob story.

Brent wouldn't have been the first to drop to their knees and beg from scraps from Henry. Scraps Henry didn't even have the right to give.

Henry Conwell family name was known worldwide. His father, Doctor Conwell, had been the lead geneticist to develop the K-9 program. A genius that was going down in every medical book being made. Some were even being remade to add a credit to Dr. Conwell. A man that had changed the world as we know it.

Anywhere, everywhere someone went knew about Dr. Conwell's research. Even people living under rocks or waking up from comas knew who Conwell was. It had been groundbreaking, in more ways than one, and the fame had forced the small family from Indiana here to Texas in order to continue his research.

Even moving from state to state to state hadn't changed things. Henry forced from one school to the next, wherever his dad needed to be. Henry wished, with their money, they'd just hire a private tutor. No such luck. Henry was forced to deal with it all just because he'd been born as this man's offspring.

And now, here he was, being harassed again because of it. Some people might like the attention. Feeding off of it. Henry on the other hand wanted to tuck away in his shell and not come out until this storm blew over.

Brent, like so many others, weren't picking on Henry, no. They wanted something from him. A chance maybe to get into his good graces for future job potentials. To increase their own family standings and reputations? Wanting a possible opportunity at getting a chance to talk to his father or just money. Plain and simple. Dollar signs might as well have been floating in Brent's eyes.

For some odd, stupid, reason they all somehow thought Henry had direct access to any of this.

Which was of course ridiculous. But when even the principle was kissing the floor he walked on, there was no stopping it. He couldn't explain it to any of them, no matter how hard he tried. It went in one ear and out the other.

Henry hoped going to a private all-boys school would've helped with this. A rich one at that. One where only the richest, most entitled pricks could get into. They had their own fame, fortune, and family names to fall back on. Henry had hoped that would change things. It had not. Instead of getting people picking on him for his name, people were trying to kiss his ass in order to get something in return.

“My father is the one you want to talk to about this, not I." Henry began about to explain for the tenth time today about the situation only ending up stopping as a rather large shadow fell over the boy standing before him. “Conrad." Henry looked away, not addressing his chauffeur that came in to check on the human.

A low, deep growl filled the hallway and nearly everyone there took a step away from the Doberman that had come in to check in on his charge.

Large would've been an understatement. Con Rad Conwell was a good foot and a half taller than Henry, let alone Brent. He stood a head, shoulders, and chest above anyone else in the hallway as he looked down at the boy pinning his young master to the lockers. And the Doberman did not look pleased by it one bit.

Henry was just thankful Brent had the restraint not to touch him. If the boy had laid a finger on him, Henry was sure his bodyguard would've punched the boy out. If he'd been lucky. There were far worse things Conrad could and would do to someone that assaulted him.

“Sir." Conrad said though his dark brown eyes were boring into Brent as if they were drilling holes through the boy's head. Possible ideas of what to do with this annoyance? “Your ride is ready and waiting, young master." The Doberman didn't even bother looking at Henry, he rarely did.

Conrad Conwell might hold their last name, but Henry was in no way related to the muscle headed canine. He, like so many others, were just servants his father employed to keep Henry on track. And in line. Eyes and ears watching and reporting his every move to his father Henry rarely saw.

They didn't work for Henry, no. They worked for his father.

Henry held as much love for the dog as he did Brent.

“I was just grabbing my bag. Didn't mean to keep his majesty waiting." Henry tried to explain with a roll of his eyes. He scoffed off the Doberman who finally gave him a look. “You could've waited in the car…" Henry tone was clear. The human jabbing at the canine's position.

A dog should wait in the car.

Though it came off as cruel as Henry had attended, there was far more going on here than an outsider would see or understand. Henry's family life was extremely complicated and had no wish of explaining it to anyone. Not that anyone would listen or care if he did.

Conrad's cropped ears perked like triangular points and twitched at his words, the Doberman registering what he was saying. With a single step forward, using his body alone to separate the two boys, Conrad snatched up Henry's book bag from the open locker and slung it over one of his broad shoulders.

“Hey!" Henry glared at the Doberman who easily lifted the bag up out of reach.

“I will carry your bag to the car, young master." Conrad bowed his head towards him before shooting the three other boys a look. “Make sure to say goodbye to your… friends." Conrad lip didn't need to lift, he didn't need to bare his fangs. The heavy weight of the Doberman's voice alone made sure the threat was clear.

Back off and don't bother Henry again or else.

The other three lifted up their hands, lowered their heads and backed away quickly without another word.

“I told you," one of them hissed at the others. “He has a freaking army of those things watching out for him. Just leave the freak alone."

Where some might've taken it as a compliment or even thanked the Doberman for the rescue, Henry just shook his head and pushed past the canine who quickly tailed after him.

“Is that one of them?" The whispers had already begun.

“Holy shit, they're bigger than I thought."

“Do they just follow and obey everything he says? That's so… freaky."

“What a creep."

“He probably gets them to do all kinds of nasty things for him." The whispers from his fellow schoolmates were endless. Some were envious, others were fearful, and some… some were just cruel. Both to Henry and Conrad behind their backs as they glared after the two.

Blaming the uprising of K-9's for all their problems these days.

Conrad gave Henry a respectable distance as he followed behind him, keeping an eye out on everyone they passed by. Cropped, pointed ears perked up. His small stub of a tail motionless as the Doberman's eyes scanned each and every face they came across. The center iris of his pupils contracted and dilated, zooming in and out as Conrad scanned over every person and their face there, using facial recognition tech to make sure there weren't any threats.

There was far more to these dogs than just genetical changes to their DNA structure. Most of the K-9 units had been altered even further, turning them cybernetic in nature. Artificial limbs, eyes and supportive body parts like spines to turn these already beefy K-9's into true working machines.

Henry could feel Conrad watching him from time to time and it made him feel uncomfortable. Feeling those artificial eyes scanning over him. Henry did his best not to let it show, however. Not wanting his father's pet “dog" to get satisfaction that he'd gotten to him. Only to report back to the master that he'd done a good job and get scraps thrown from the tableside. Maybe he'd be allowed to sleep at Henry's father's feet if he kept kissing ass like this.

Dogs…

“I wasn't even five minutes late." Henry just started up with as they exited the building, walking down the flight of stairs and towards the open front gates.

Two guards, one on each side, stood there. Both were K-9's and both gave Henry a nod as the boy walked past.

“Brent Mitchell." Conrad stopped long enough to say the other boys name to one of the two guards. The mastiff just gave a nod of his head.

“Understood sir, he'll be expelled immediately." The mastiff tapped his ear about to call it in when he felt a tug on his suit. Glancing down Henry just glared up at the dog.

“Don't you freaking dare!" Henry warned as he let go of the K-9's suit. “This is embarrassing enough without you getting my classmates expelled just for talking to me." Henry tried to keep his voice down as he got on the three canines who all just stood there, back straight, head's up as they let this human berate them. “It's already hard enough for me to make friends without all of you sticking your noses in my business all the time. Just. Don't. Please…"

“Yes, young master." The mastiff just said, standing there. Henry could've kicked him in the shin, and he knew the canine would thank him after as he hobbled on a leg. There was no point getting on them, though, Henry knew.

It was all his father's fault.

Ever since Dr. Conwell, the lead scientist involved in Project Tomorrow, had introduced the first K-9 to the world… everything changed. The world itself, for starts. People were lobbying against animal cruelty. Others were bringing up religion and citing how inhumane it was. There were rioting, people fearing they'd lose their jobs and be replaced by these K-9's. Others were picketing against the act of “playing god."

Either or, Henry was the one who felt like he was suffering the most.

Ever since his father had made a name of their family, his whole life had turned upside down. He was pulled out of his old school, they moved to the big city, and he was under twenty-four watch from one of his dad's… experiments.

Conrad Conwell was K-9 471. The serial number burned into the back of the Doberman's thick neck. He was one of the most “successful" of the batch and thus was charged with the sole purpose of watching over, helping, and protecting Henry's life. Going so far as even offering up his own to protect the human.

When he was young, Henry thought it was the coolest thing in the world! He got a big brother, sort of. Conrad was always there. Helping him out, playing games with Henry when he was just a kid. Every birthday, every sleepover, everything involved the two of them. That was until Henry realized the harsh truth of the matter.

Conrad wasn't his friend. Let alone a big brother. None of these canines were. They might as well just have been machines preprogramed to like him. Puppets on strings with no real thought or feeling of their own.

That wasn't friendship or love. It was fake. Just like they might as well have been. His father had created them in order to keep Henry “company" while he worked. Like someone of old might've done, buying him a “dog" to play with. Tossing his own son aside and throwing him to the dogs. Literally. Henry grew up with them, sure, but they weren't family. His own family hadn't wanted him and these… dogs had taken him in because their master ordered them too.

It was pathetic.

The worst part was, Henry had been fooled by it all. He thought Conrad, like the others, were his friend. That he could trust and confine in the Doberman who claimed to only have his best interest in mind. Only for the dog to run off and tell his dad all the secrets he'd told Conrad; the Doberman betraying his trust.

Like everyone else. They didn't give two shits about Henry, just his name. His families name.

They worked for their father and that was that.

They had never been Henry's friend now or from the start. It was all one big fat lie and Henry was thankful that illusion had shattered away, and their true colors could finally be seen.

“Let's just go." Henry shot Conrad a harsh glare he reserved for the Doberman alone. Conrad knew exactly why Henry treated him differently than the other canines. “I just want to go to my room and read." Henry was already walking out the gate as he tapped on the wrist band.

The wrist band was of newer tech, one of the prototypes Henry got his hands on above everyone else. It felt like a glove, or half of one. It wrapped around his wrist, over the back of it and onto his palm. He could tap on the back with his other hand or use his left hands fingers to tap on the palm to use the device.

It had everything. Connected to a Nexus Point nearby, it allowed him full access of various devices. Most of which he was still trying to figure out. It was a prototype; it didn't come with a manual. Henry didn't mind. He loved dissecting things and figuring them out…

A hand caught his shoulder stopping him making the human glare daggers at the Doberman once more. Conrad bent down, licked his thumb, and then wiped Henry's cheek as if he were a small boy.

“Your father has an important meeting today." Conrad just explained, putting his sunglasses back on. Henry knew they were far more than just decorative wear. The sunglasses were nearly as advanced as the K-9's were.

The world was changing, and Henry was caught in the middle of it without a say. Like a boat lost at sea during a storm. All he could do was hope he didn't capsize.

“And you're point would be what?" Henry dared the Doberman to go on.

“I am to keep you company until dinner. It will be late, tonight, after the meeting." Conrad just stayed where he was, knelt on one knee before the human so he could look him in the eye with one hand on Henry's shoulder. The strength of that hand alone kept Henry from running.

And the two of them knew it. Conrad would physically drag Henry back if he tried to do anything foolish, again. It wouldn't have been the first time either.

“Are you telling me I can't even go to my own damn house now?" Henry hated this. Hated how Conrad always pulled this type of shit in public, all to keep Henry from making a scene. Henry wanted to! He wanted to scream and rant and hit him but…

But he never did. He knew better than that. He wasn't a child anymore. Today of all days told him that.

Henry turned away, clenching his fist so tight it hurt. Taking that single moment to let his feelings show before tucking them away again. Hiding them from all to see. Being jaded and apathetic to life. It was just.. easier that way.

With a shrug, Henry pushed the hand off his shoulder.

“Whatever." Henry muttered bitterly as he turned towards the parking lot. He didn't need to tell Conrad to come. The Doberman would. No matter what Henry did, he could never shake the dog from following him.

There were very infrequent occasions in which Conrad wasn't lurking somewhere nearby. And when the Doberman wasn't around, one of the other K-9's would take his place to watch over their “young master."

Henry doubted any of them even knew his name anymore…

Climbing into the back of the reinforced hover limo, Henry pressed the button to roll up the divider window even before Conrad got inside. He wished he could lock it, because sure enough, Conrad was rolling the window back down. Glancing up into the rearview mirror, Conrad spoke to him.

“What would you like to do today, young master?" Conrad asked. The dog was throwing him a bone and Henry wanted to bash it over the Doberman's stupid skull with it.

“I don't care. Father probably has my entire day planned out…" Henry bitterly replied. It wouldn't be the first time. They'd ask what he'd want to do only for them to tell him their actual plans. It was like they got off on giving the human a glimmer of hope before snatching it away.

He was a prisoner in his own life by rules, schedules, and furry K-9 guards making sure he could never have fun.

“Today is your special day, you get to choose young master." Conrad just said as he started up the hover limo and merged into traffic.

“My day?" Henry laughed. “Every year it's supposed to be my day… it never is. Dad's working, of course. Moms who knows where. Maybe a spa or getting drunk with her friends. And here I am, stuck with a dog like you." Henry just turned away, resting against the heated seat. “I just want to run away…"

Despite his sour mood, the limo was extremely comfy, and he laid back on the seat looking up at the ceiling. It was a luxury. At least his prison was well furnished with temperature control. He got off lucky compared to how most of the people lived these days.

As futuristic as things were becoming, some things never changed and Henry rather look at the ceiling of the hover limo than at all the homeless on the street. It was hard to feel bad about your life when you had warm meals, a soft bed, and a roof over your head every night.

One day, Henry would like to give back to the people. To do something good with his life. Maybe then he'd feel like his life had some value to it.

“The limo doesn't even have a skylight." Henry just frowned at the ceiling. It would be nice if it did. Then he could look up at the clouds and imagine what it would be like to be a bird, flying free from all this. No worries or concerns. No K-9s watching him and especially no family name to think about.

“Sunroofs are dangerous, young master." Conrad just said and Henry rolled his eyes. Anything dangerous was strictly forbidden. This limo alone could take a tank shell and still be intact afterwards. A worrisome thought Henry tried not to think about.

“You didn't use to say that…" Henry grumbled. Conrad had been his best friend growing up. A big brother that had taken him out behind their mansion into the woods to explore and play. Even when it was storming, the two of them used to sneak away together…

And now Conrad was his jailer, his warden forcing him to play the boy scout.

“What did they do? Castrate you?" Henry could mock Conrad. He could yell or even hit the dog. The Doberman didn't seem to mind. He let him. Conrad let him do whatever he wanted, and Henry couldn't keep it up. A jab here or a glare there was all he could muster these days.

They used to be best friends and now…

It hurt, even being around the Doberman after what happened. He still felt the sting of betrayal and just looked out the tinted bullet-proof window as they went by. Wanting to look at anything other than the Doberman he knew was watching him from the corner of his eye.

Henry didn't say where he wanted to go, and Conrad was just driving. He could have aimlessly been driving around the city for all Henry knew. His thoughts were elsewhere, recalling when the Doberman used to be his friend. Of better days.

Conrad would sneak into his room to “check" on him and after assessing that Henry was lonely, he'd stick around for the rest of the night to keep him company. Henry didn't know what it was like for people to have four legged dogs after the sickness that wiped the species out, but having Conrad around was a thousand times better.

They'd sneak snacks together. They'd stay up late watching inappropriate shows. Conrad ended up covering Henry's face half the time as the human buried his bright red cheeks in the Doberman's short black furred, brown marked chest. Conrad had laughed and teased him about it after.

Back when Conrad felt comfortable doing so. Or maybe that, as well, had been just a lie.

The dog used to get on him about things. Would push him playfully and tease the human as if they were really friends…

Conrad didn't do any of that now.

He was in a suit, wearing an earpiece and with sunglasses Henry knew were far more than they appeared. Conrad wasn't his friend; he was his guard “dog" and nothing more.

“Where are you taking me?" Henry asked accusingly as he held himself. It was his day and here he was stuck with this K-9 servant. His parents hadn't even bothered to send him a message or… anything. He didn't have friends, not like the other kids did.

People would talk friendly to him; they'd invite him to parties or try and hang out. Henry could quickly pick up on the fact they weren't interested in him. They were interested in Project Tomorrow. The future of the world. They wanted to brown nose him while he was young to use him later. They wanted to borrow money they'd never return knowing Henry was good for it. They wanted to help their own family out by using Henry who wasn't even able to invite anyone to, say, a birthday party. Or to even have one.

It was his day and yet… Henry might as well not even exist.

“You said you wanted to run away," Conrad just answered as he took a sharp turn and cut off another car as he made his way down the road. Henry jerked at the sudden movement, eying the canine up front. He hated how good Conrad's hearing was.

“You're actually going to take me out of city limits?" Henry dared to hope but he ended up scoffing as he noticed the Doberman turn off a side road instead of onto the freeway that led out of the overpopulated, bustling city.

“I'd never endanger you, young master." Conrad just said with that flat monotone synthetic voice. If it wasn't for his deep voice and the soft growl that accompanied every word Conrad said, Henry would've sworn he was just a robot in a dog suit.

“In other words, no fun." Henry rolled his eyes pulling out his phone. No one had texted him. No new messages or calls. Not even a voicemail. “This sucks…" He cursed softly, turning away from the front, and just staring at the seat. “Not even a damn message…"

Maybe he could just take a nap and forget about today. Nothing would be lost. Today might as well just be another normal day for the now eighteen-year-old high schooler. He was almost done with school. Then? Then his entire future was already planned. His father had enrolled him in the same college he'd attended, planning for Henry to follow every footstep that his father made.

It was a good half hour before Conrad spoke up from the front, waking Henry from his dazed sleep. Rubbing it from his eyes, the human sat up to look around.

“The hell is it now? Another bible study?" Henry scoffed.

“We're here, young master. And you know master doesn't believe in fictitious things." Conrad only replied turning the engine off as Henry looked out one of the side windows.

“Holy…" Henry had to resist the urge to press his face against the window to look at the theme park in front of them. “I'm not a little kid," Henry tried to hide his enthusiasm as he glared towards the front. The Doberman wasn't there.

The door slammed shut and Conrad was already walking around to open the side door for Henry who just gave him a look.

“Do you need help getting out of the car, young master?" The Doberman asked with a small bow, looking up at the human as his muzzle dipped down and his glasses slid down it. Their eyes met. There was a brief tug of a smile on the Doberman's lips as Henry refused his hand, pushing past his bulk and stepped outside on his own.

As if to say he didn't need his big brother helping him anymore.

“I'm not a little kid anymore…" Henry just grumbled walking past him towards the front gate in a hurried pace.

“Of course," Conrad just nodded as he watched the human practically skip towards the entrance. “Young master," Conrad called making Henry flinch and stop in his step. “You forgot your coat. It is chilly outside," the canine walked over before offering it to the human. He went so far as to forcibly put it on Henry without making it appear as such as several people looked at the two.

Henry's ears were burning. His face growing hot, and he quickly pulled up his hood hiding his face before anyone…

“Is that…?" Someone in the nearby line whispered.

“He's younger than I thought." A pair exiting the theme park remarked stopping and just gawking at Henry as if he'd suddenly began glowing.

“Who's the dog?" Someone laughed. “Of course, he'd have a dog! He must love them."

“They aren't dogs!" Someone else got on them about. “They're K-9's. Dogs went extinct. How could you make such a stupid mistake?"

“Is that a new K-9 model? He's so lucky to get all the newest stuff. He must be so happy."

Everyone at the front of the line, waiting to get in, were looking at the two and talking loud enough for even his human ears to hear. Muttering and talking, pointing, and gawking at the human as if he were a freak in a show. It sucked. This sucked. He just wished he could go somewhere without being noticed for a change.

The other K-9 security guards stepped forward, making sure no one directly harassed him. They didn't stop them from talking, just blocking access to him.

Henry quickly pulled his hood down over his face and turned away from the gate. “This was dumb. Let's just head back…" Henry grumbled, his cheeks burning from all the attention the two were getting.

“I already got tickets, young master." Conrad said producing two tickets from inside his jacket and holding them up. “But, if you still wish to return…" And the Doberman threatened to rip the two tickets up before Henry's face.

The human scoffed as if he weren't interested before quickly jumping up and grabbing the tickets, or trying too as Conrad held them just a little higher out of the human's reach. The K-9 seemed greatly amused by his efforts and was desperately trying not to let it show.

“Give me the tickets!" Henry glared. “I'm going to rip yours apart and head inside without you for a change. So, give me the tickets!" He jumped, trying to grab them again.

“Is that an order?" Conrad asked with a playful tease that didn't match his face, or size, at all.

Henry stopped at that, giving the Doberman a look. If he did, if he ordered Conrad, the K9 would have to obey him. Conrad would be forced to obey him. It was practically built into their genetics to listen and obey the Conwell family. Henry had all the power in the world over the Doberman and Conrad knew that.

And that was why Henry had never once ever, directly, given the Doberman an order.

Conrad didn't have to listen to any order that would put him in danger but… it wasn't about that, and Conrad knew it. It was the last thing the two of them had left, the last thread of a connection from Henry's childhood. Something he didn't even want to cut loose.

“We're friends, I'd never order you to do anything." Henry had said underneath the covers when he had turned ten years old, holding the larger Doberman's paws, tucked under the sheets together. “Right?"

The Doberman had wagged his tail, those bright brown eyes looking nowhere else but at the human in front of him. Conrad nodded several times, unable to speak yet. The Doberman had gone through countless surgeries to be the perfect attendant for the family. He was to be the family's butler after all.

Conrad had a metal plate on one side of his head that would be hidden underneath faux fur in the future. A bracket looped over one eye and his jaw was still setting from the surgery it had undergone. One update after another. As if he really were a robot being sent into the shop to be “fixed" and “improved" on. Henry, at that time, never thought anything of it. He didn't question it. He didn't question the metal bar attached to Conrad's back along his spine. He didn't ask why he needed to go through physical therapy after his joints had been removed, replaced, and made stronger.

Why he had bloody bandages over his ears and where his tail went… Henry had been so innocently naïve once upon a time ago.

Pills. Shots. Drugs. Powders and mixture of all kinds. Henry had never once asked why Conrad had to take them all. He never wanted too. He didn't need too, not back then. He was his friend and all Henry wanted was for Conrad to be there for him as the big brother the Doberman, surely, was.

“Right!" Henry grabbed the Doberman's large hands back then. “Then, when we run away together, we'll go to see the theme park! Father won't let us right now, we're too young." Henry rolled his eyes. He talked so much to Conrad who just wagged his stubby tail in return listening to every word Henry said with cropped ears; Conrad still had bandages on from where they had cut them. “But you have to come, promise!"

Conrad nodded.

“That's a promise and you don't break your promises." Henry had gotten on the Doberman who just nodded some more, whining through the metal brace over his jaw. “Good. Good! Then, that's where we'll go for my next birthday, it's a promise!" A promise they'd never keep. Not until eight years later it seemed.

“I can't believe you remembered this," Henry grumbled as the two walked through the side gate and into the theme park.

There were so many people here it was slightly overwhelming. Henry stepped closer to Conrad out of habit. He kept his hood down, mask up as he looked over the vast crowd before them. At all the stands set up, serving food and drinks. He looked at the gift shops up front before turning his eyes upwards at the all the rides overhead.

Everything was so… bright, and colorful! People were laughing, screaming in joy and just… it was perfect. This felt perfect and, above everything else, normal. Despite the crowds and noise, Henry could actually feel excited to have a birthday, again. Henry looked one way then the other still unable to take everything in.

Roller coasters winding through the skies like coiled serpents with people screaming along their backs. There was a log ride that splashed down soaking everyone watching. A giant Ferris wheel could be seen in the back. A haunted house was closed down for repairs and there was even a rocket ride that shot straight towards the heavens before stopping and plummeting back down.

People were screaming and laughing and having the time of their life and Henry wasn't sure what he wanted to do first as he looked around at all the happy, smiling people. His own smile began to fade though noticing something that stuck out above everything else…

Everyone here had come with friends or their family. Mothers and fathers with their kids. Holding hands, laughing, sharing funnel cakes and…

“They look so happy..." Henry muttered to himself looking at the father playing with his boy near the ice cream stand. He rubbed his arm, feeling suddenly cold. “This was stupid…" Henry muttered. Sure, as a kid he'd dreamt of coming here. Of running away and joining this place! Which kid hadn't?

He also had dreamt of coming here with his family. And instead, he was here with a dumb “dog" as an adult.

“We should just go. This was a dumb idea…" Henry turned to go but found the Doberman standing in his way as if sensing the human's discontent on the matter, the shifting of his emotions from a high to a low. Just like a rollercoaster one minute in the heavens before plummeting down to the screaming hells.

Henry always hated bible study. Something his mother had forced him to take after another fight with their father about it.

“We should wait to eat until after the rides," Conrad stayed just behind the human. His back was straight, chest was pushed out as he looked around keeping an eye out even now. His guard dog was back, and Henry couldn't believe how lonely he felt surrounded by people.

There had to be hundreds, maybe thousands of people here! And he never felt so alone in his entire life.

“Whatever." Henry just grumbled as he walked towards the nearest ride, wanting to just get this over with. He didn't think he could feel any lower but sure enough, Conrad found a way.

The Doberman pushed ahead of the line when Henry tried to walk towards the back. Flicking a badge at the attendant. Conrad motioned for Henry to come on over as he held an arm out to block the line from proceeding forward.

Stopping the world so that Henry, who seemed to have more value than everyone else, could go first.

“Go ahead, young master." Conrad just said. If Henry hadn't been put on the spot before, he would've just continued walking. With that spotlight turning on him, however, he couldn't escape from the embarrassment that quickly followed. It rooted him to the ground, and he felt the churn in his stomach.

At least he hadn't eaten anything yet.

Several people shot him looks, muttering behind his back as he quickly just headed ahead of everyone else.

“Privileged."

“So lucky."

“Can't believe we have to wait…"

“He must be so happy."

It wasn't that Henry was great or did anything outstanding. It was just the stupid name he was attached with. If it wasn't for the Conwell name Conrad wouldn't even be here. Henry wouldn't have to put up with this K-9 and could, instead, be reading a book and trying to pretend he lived in someone else's shoes for a change.

Instead, he was forced to enjoy the rides of the theme park his father owned. Along with half the city. Money really could do everything. Other than buy happiness, it seemed. Ironic, seeing the place Henry was in now.

The ride was simple enough and spun around in large cups that were lifted up into the air and twisted and turned with increasing speed. The ride had been distracting enough before it began tipping side to side, sloshing them around inside the cup like tea about to spill out. Henry was worried he'd slip out, if it wasn't for the warm, strong arm wrapped around his shoulder as Conrad, awkwardly, sat there next to him.

Henry couldn't tell for sure, but he thought the Doberman was clinging to him as the ride started up instead of the other way around. And by the end the two were clinging to each other as the cup spun faster and faster until it finally stopped.

“Nope." Conrad was the one to say as he plucked Henry out of the cup and raced out of the death device. “No more of that!" The Doberman's thin fur was standing up in places and his glasses were skewed on his face. It was a miracle they hadn't fallen off.

From there the two ended up hitting a couple of the smaller stores, needing a breather. Henry preferred this. They didn't make a scene and other than people looking at the Doberman, wondering who the human was, they were left alone. Henry kept the hood of his jacket down over his face as he went through the different stalls, mask up.

It was nice to be able to somewhat blend in and as they weren't making a racket. Henry was even beginning to enjoy himself. He even found matching keychains as souvenirs. He lifted them up before his smile slipped away.

These trinkets cost more than the tickets did, but that wasn't the problem.

One of them read “Henry" and the other “Conrad."

What was the point of buying these? It wasn't like the Doberman even gave a damn. He was just here because daddy dearest made sure he was always kept an eye on. Most likely so he didn't stain his legacy he was carving out for himself…

A man that was too busy to even hang out with his son on his birthday.

“This is stupid." Henry just bitterly said tossing the keychains back onto the counter and storming out of the small shop to hide his tears from it all. Frustrated over the matter. A day so many people loved, their birthdays, was just another reminder for him how little his family even cared.

Shoved from one school to the next. Never allowed to have friends. Constantly under supervision. Cameras shoved in his face, reporters harassing him. His classmates didn't talk to him and when they did it was always because of his family name and not because they gave a damn about Henry. And then there was Conrad…

Henry didn't want to dwell on it.

Food helped. Burying his sorrows away in snacks and drinks and whatever he could stuff himself with while the Doberman just stood nearby watching the crowd around them. Henry got a chance to eat whatever he wanted. No more laid-out meal plans, no strict diet that changed every week on whatever the new fad his mother was reading up on.

Funnel cake. Frosties. Fried foods! Hotdogs, corndogs, fried pickles and just… anything on the menu. He'd ordered it all, planning on just giving the rest to whoever else wanted it. He just wanted to taste it. To see what it was like, like everyone else was able to have that he was denied.

He couldn't even buy a damn corndog without someone breathing down his neck. He was surprised Conrad hadn't said anything yet. In fact, the Doberman was being rather quiet about all this.

“When was the last time you ate?" Henry finally asked, wiping his mouth of powder sugar. He felt fat and full, and it was wonderful to splurge for a change. He never got to eat such cheap fatty greasy foods at home.

Everything was made all fancy frou-frou that didn't match Henry's palate at all. What even were kale chips?

“I try not to eat while on the job, young master." Conrad just said not even looking at him. The Doberman had both hands folded behind his back, standing behind Henry as he looked to the left and slowly scanned his muzzle to the right before snapping his head back to repeat.

He looked like a damned water sprinkler and Henry had to stop a laugh as Conrad neck snapped back to the start to repeat the strange action.

“You're always on the job, Conrad." Henry rolled his eyes. “Seriously. When don't you work? When I'm asleep?" He snorted a laugh at the idea as he flicked a crumb off his plate.

“Yes." Conrad just answered as he continued to scan the area like a camera. He'd stop from time to time to glare at anyone foolish enough to draw too close and his lips would bare fangs, growling low if they pressed their luck.

No one was foolish enough to question the seven foot two Doberman in a full suit with dark shades on.

“Then when do you, like, bathe?" Henry asked and yet felt the creeping blush come back to his cheeks at the thought. Conrad and Henry used to bathe together, that was until the bastard of a dog stabbed him in the back. “Never mind! I don't want to know." Henry pulled his hood down in embarrassment as the Doberman looked down at him.

“After securing the perimeter, I tend to bathe when you do, young master." Conrad just said after Henry dared to glance back at him. The Doberman lifted an eyebrow at the look he got from the human. “What? The offer to wash your back still stands," Conrad just offered a hand as if willing to do it right there and then if necessary.

Henry turned away from him.

“How much longer do I have to put up with you today?" Henry just asked instead of addressing any of that.

Conrad checked his wrist band. It was a matching one to Henry making the human wonder if he'd also been given a prototype to test out. “We still have two hours and forty-three minutes." The Doberman tucked his hand back behind his back as he went to his hobby of people watching. Or, rather, people threatening.

“Still?" Henry sighed heavily, resting against the table as he looked around. The sun was beginning to set, and he'd have to get back home to a seemingly empty house that was as cold and oppressing as ever.

It was like a museum. There were fancy works of art and sculptures on display or behind protective glass cases. Everything was there to look at, not to touch. When Henry was young he'd foolishly broke this rule; but he hadn't been the one punished. It had been Conrad, the K-9 severely beaten in front of him for not stopping the young master from touching the painting made of sand.

Henry hadn't forgiven himself for that. It hadn't been the first time, either. Every time, it was for a different reason and yet with the same result.

For talking back? Conrad had been beaten. For forgetting to finish his homework? Conrad had been beaten. For skipping his bath? Conrad had been beaten. Henry hated it. He wished he could've dove in front of his father's cane instead of…

“Is there any other ride you wish to try before we leave, young master?" Conrad offered, and Henry already knew the one.

Within fifteen minutes he was strapping into the bumper car. If he couldn't take his aggression out on the Doberman outside, then he could here. Unfortunately, he hadn't expected said Doberman to join him.

Crushed in the cart that was too small, Conrad insisted on driving, which only caused the two of them to fight the entire time. Bickering like an old married couple as the Doberman tried to get one up on the other drives only to get hit from behind.

“You need to step on the pedal with your big dumb foot!" Henry was practically shouting at him as they got hit from the side.

“It's not working!" Conrad only growled back, glaring down at the machine. “If this was a real car!"

“Reverse, reverse!" Henry covered his face as someone smashed into their front making him lurch. The Doberman seemingly made the perfect target and the two couldn't do a thing as everyone teamed up on them.

At one point, even with the ride still going, Conrad had scooped Henry up and ran out of the place, abandoning their car and leaving it behind. It wasn't like security would get on them. No one ever got on the Conwell's.

It was still embarrassing to retreat like that, and Conrad refused to address or talk about it further, saying they would buy a real monster truck to do it with instead n the future if he so wished to try again.

The evening was finally winding down and Henry wanted a slow ride without anyone else getting in their way.

The two got on the Ferris wheel before the night came to an end. A nice, peaceful moment as the two sat on opposite sides of each other. The Ferris wheel car was boxed in allowing the two some privacy as they looked out over the theme park and at the lights turning on below. A twilight had set over the city and the park, casting everything in a blue glow. Then the lights turned on. One by one and Henry couldn't help but gasp at the sight.

Henry didn't say anything at first as the machine lurched to life, slowly lifting their car up and around. The theme park was lit up in a rainbow of colored lights that flashed and glowed and twinkled like fireflies in the blue glow of the night sky.

It wasn't like the bright neon of the city during the night, instead it was a soft warm comforting glow that made Henry want to curl up with a thick blanket and sleep the night away.

“This was fun…" He muttered more to himself. He was surprised it had been, despite it all. Despite how poorly today could've gone.

“More days could be like this." Conrad wasn't looking out the window, instead his bodyguard and personal butler was watching him the entire time. Henry could never read Conrad's face. It was as emotionless as stone. Blank like a slab of marble waiting for someone to sculpt it… and just as cold.

“I wish." Henry scoffed with a shake of his head. “Be great to be able to go out and do something! Even with you tagging along every damn time." He added with a glare at the canine who just blinked in return. “Can't even go to the movies without dear old dad freaking out… despite him not even being there for…" Henry trailed off.

He was an adult now, but it didn't stop him from feeling like a kid when he thought of his parents. Of his dad. Of everything.

“What would you like for your birthday, young master?" Conrad asked him then. Henry thought about it but already knew what he wanted.

“There's only one thing. And you can't give me that." Henry glared back.

“I'll do whatever I can, within my power, to do so." Conrad only nodded though, waiting for Henry to continue.

“What I want… is the truth." Henry just dared to asked and yet, afraid too.

“Truth?" Conrad ear flicked as he stared at the human.

“Why… why did you tell my father about me…? About everything?" Henry asked the burning question he'd been afraid too after all these years. “That's what I want. I want to know why you… did that to me." Henry turned away, not wanting the “dumb dog" see him tear up. “Why you betrayed me. Lied to me. And ratted me out to dear old dad…"

Conrad didn't say anything at first.

“Is that… an order…?" Conrad just asked instead making Henry mad.

“You told my father everything! You told him that we had snuck out at night! That we went into the woods even during the storm and that…" Henry had jumped to his feet. Once he did, he wasn't sure what to do and just sort of awkwardly sat back down. “You even told him… Even told him that I was… gay…"

Having someone else force you out of the closet was a horrible experience. Henry just never thought Conrad would be the one to do so. His father hadn't taken it well. Henry's father hadn't yelled or hit him or done anything of the such. He had simply gotten up from the table and walked out. Ever since, Henry never had the pleasure of eating with his father at the same dining table.

“You told him everything! All the secrets I told you…" Henry finished up with, wiping his eyes. “And because of that… I lost my family." Henry laughed, a broken sound that he felt inside. “I even lost you… You told them everything and I lost everything."

“Of course, I did." Conrad just answered flatly. Henry shot him a trademark glare stained with tears. The Doberman ears folded back as he looked away from those eyes looking at him with such… betrayal. “If I didn't tell him, he…" Conrad took a second as if struggling with the words that didn't want to seem to come out. “He, your father… the master… wouldn't have let me see you anymore. If I had refused. He'd take me away from you…" Conrad just stared out the window.

His hands were gripping tightly at his knees, the dull claws digging into his pants as the Doberman shook slightly as if struggling with something unseen, trying to hold him back.

“…What do you mean?" Henry didn't trust him. Not after everything. This was probably another lie to get him to open up so Conrad could report back to his father anything that Henry was still hiding from him.

“You got injured when I took you out into the woods that night, during the storm. It might be a minor scratch for you… but your father, master was… livid. I've never seen him so furious before. He said I wasn't capable of protecting his greatest achievement and I should be replaced." Conrad fidgeted with his hands. “They were going to put another K-9 in my place… I told him that I would do anything to stay as your assigned K-9… He only agreed after I reported to him everything you told me… Your secrets. What we did. Where we hid the stash of treats, where we smoked for the first time… I'd do it all over again in a heartbeat. I'd do anything if he just let me… stay with you." Conrad finally conceded, looking back at him.

Henry just rolled his eyes not buying it for a second.

“Some story. I bet dad told you to say all that." Henry didn't expect the Doberman to get up. It shifted the box car they were in. “Whoa, hey, careful!" He got on Conrad as the Doberman crouched down in front of him, down on one knee as the box car began to settle from the sudden movement.

Conrad took his glasses off and looked at him with manufactured altered eyes. There was a hint of metal from the corner of his right eye. Small traces of all the surgeries and enhancements he'd undergone to keep this role as Henry's bodyguard.

“You're eighteen now, Henry." Conrad said, speaking his name for the first time in… so long. “I'm sorry I hurt you, but I couldn't risk losing you." And the Doberman held up two keychains in front of him. One with his name, one with Henry's name on it. “I'd do anything to stay with you. No matter how much you hate me for it. No matter what you do to me… hit me. Spit on me. Yell at me… just don't tell me, don't order me… to leave…"

An order they both knew that Conrad was programmed to follow. No matter how harsh or cruel it was, he'd be forced to do so once Henry was safe.

The human stood there, looking at the Doberman who could easily bench press his body with one hand… at this “dog", the family pet, this K-9 who looked so pitiful and miserable in that moment. What could Henry say to that? What could he possibly do…?

“Please, don't order me to leave you…" Conrad dipped his muzzle down. “I'll let you do whatever you want to me. Beat me. Hate me. Hit me. Spit on me… Whatever it takes… I'll gladly accept it. Accept it all. To be able to stay with you."

“I…" Henry was at a loss for words. “This is a trick. Isn't it? It's just another trick!" The human gritted his teeth, trying to bear the overwhelming weight this meant for him. For them.

Conrad had always been there. Through it all. After being punished, the Doberman still made his breakfast the next morning. He helped him dress, got him up and even offered to wash his back in the shower. Bandaged, bruised, and bloodied, Conrad had always been there to help him after being punished. After every surgery.

Henry had hated him for it. He hated him so much after he'd been hurt… and now?

“It's a trick… isn't it…?" Henry almost begged the Doberman to tell him the truth. It wasn't fair. None of this was fair. He covered his face with both hands, pulling down his hood as he took a seat once more as the Doberman remained kneeling before him.

“…no, young master Henry." Conrad only answered with a soft growl as he continued to hold up the two keychains he'd spied Henry looking at. The human hesitated, carefully reaching out to grab one of the two.

Henry didn't take the keychain with his name. Instead, he took the one that read “Conrad" as if, then, he'd always have him with him.

“Why…?" Henry just asked looking down at it. This stupid cheap, far too expensive, keychain shouldn't make him so happy to see. “Why would you even… You're just a dumb dog!" Henry spat at the Doberman, looking away. “You can't… care. You're just bred like that. Engineered to be… programmed. I read the reports, the test results. I've kept up with my father's research, what he's willing to show me. Plans for me to replace him one day… I know you aren't really feeling this, not how a human would…"

Henry looked at the Doberman who refused to look at anything, anyone else but the man before him.

“You're right." Conrad reached forward and took Henry's hands in his own, swallowing Henry's own in his large grip. “I am just a dumb dog… but I'm your, dumb dog." A smile pulled up on his cheek as Henry looked at him. “Happy birthday, Henry. I'm glad you were born." Conrad wagged his stubby tail. “Because then I got to meet you. Everyday feels like it's my birthday because every day. I get to be with you."

Henry snorted at that. He laughed. “That's so stupid. Why would you," he choked on his words as he tried not to let it show, wiping his eyes as the tears just ran down his cheeks. “Not like you care. Fuck, it's my birthday and not even my own damn family cares…" He tried to stop it, but they wouldn't. The tears kept coming.

All the pain over the years. All alone. His father didn't talk to him. His mother was too busy traveling and spending all their money. He was pushed from one school to the next surrounded by K-9's who'd been ordered, bred, to protect him. He'd been utterly alone and yet… maybe he hadn't been, this entire time.

Then why wouldn't the tears stop flowing?

Not until he felt the warm, damp kiss of a tongue licking his tear stain cheek away, did Henry stop. He looked up at Conrad who was still facing him with a soft smile pulled up on his bumpy black lips.

“Don't think this changes anything!" Henry just yelled back at him, trying to shove the Doberman off. “It doesn't change the fact you still ratted me out!"

“I know." Conrad just said as Henry pushed him again.

“I hated you for so long after that! How could I even trust anyone after you just…" Henry vented his anger on him, and Conrad knelt there taking it.

“I know." The Doberman just replied.

“Then you wouldn't leave me alone after… you followed me around even more than you did before!" Henry cursed. “You were always there!"

“And I'll always will be there." Conrad just added on using a large, slightly coarse paw padded finger to wipe his other cheek off. “I'll always be there for you Henry, even master… your father, can't order me to break that promise to you. The abuse is nothing compared to the single thought of leaving you… only that, hurts me."

“What if I want you to just leave me alone!" Henry glared back.

“Is that an order…?" Conrad asked and Henry couldn't bring himself to answer that. “Then… until you do, as you are an adult now, I will stay by your side until you tell me… you order me, to leave." The Doberman said giving Henry the loaded pistol and letting him press it to his head. All the human had to do was pull that trigger, order the Doberman to leave…

And he would…

“I never gave you any dumb orders." Henry curled in on himself, refusing to look at him now.

“I know…" Conrad just said before him.

“I couldn't just order you like some kind of… you were my… and this is…" Henry choked on the words. “Why couldn't you just tell me…?"

“I'd do anything to stay with you." Conrad repeated himself, stubby tail wagging. “Even if it made you hate me… as long I could stay, with you." Henry looked up into that large, smiling face. “I was never your father's K-9. I wasn't bred for that. I wasn't born for that. I wasn't made for him… I was made for you." Conrad pet the side of the human's face. “And to me, that was the greatest gift of all… the day I got to finally meet you. The day he introduced me to you."

Henry snorted at that, sniffling and coughing slightly as he tried to clear his sinuses.

“Fuck, I haven't cried this hard since…" Henry took a moment.

“Since you found out your dad beat me for letting you sneak outside…" Conrad told him. He'd been there, hugging the human as Henry cried for the pain the Doberman barely felt. Genetically engineered, altered and surgically enhanced… Henry felt his pain far more than Conrad ever had. Even as he laid there, bleeding, holding the human in his arms. “You're the only one who ever cried for me…"

“Of course, I did!" Henry snapped back before sniffling and lowering his voice. “You were… my friend. My brother. My… my dog…" He wiped an eye off on his sleeve. “And I couldn't… I couldn't protect you."

Conrad wagged his stubby tail at that.

“It is my job, my duty, and my life… to protect you, Henry." Conrad just smiled then at the human. “To me, to a K-9 like myself… that is the greatest honor I could ever receive or give." And the Doberman reached up to wipe one more stray tear away. “To have my master, cry for me…"

“You mean young master," Henry corrected out of habit.

“No." Conrad shook his head. “You're an adult now, Henry. You are now, and always will be, my master." Conrad ears folded back at that. “I live to serve you, master Henry." And he bowed his head once more as the human embraced him in a tight hug. “Until the day you order me to leave. I will, forever, be by your side…"

Henry gripped him tightly, holding him as if afraid the very ground beneath them would give way at any moment.

“I don't want you to be a servant…" Henry pushed his face against the thick muscles of the K-9's neck. He took a breath, smelling that familiar musky scent as his hands clung to the Doberman's body. They were shaking. Henry was shaking and yet Conrad was so solid and firm, it grounded him. “I just wanted you to be my friend…"

“I've always been your friend, Henry." Conrad returned the hug, nuzzling the side of his face against the human. “I think it is best, if we head back…" He added lifting the human up and carrying him out of the Ferris wheel that had been stopped for the past several minutes.

“You don't have to carry me!" Henry protested, covering his face with his hood. If people weren't staring before, they sure were now as the massive Doberman carried the human out in one arm.

Conrad walked as he always did. His head held up high, shoulder's back and chest pushed out with a stride that commanded respect as he held the human in one arm, showing no sign his weight bothered him.

“People are staring…" Henry muttered, tucking his head underneath the Doberman's jaw. The K-9 just tightened his grip, compressing Henry against his chest as he held him like a big brother would for his smaller brother when he got scared and lost.

“Would you like me to take care of them…?" Conrad only asked, still walking without looking down at the human in his arm.

“I just want to get out of here." Henry muttered under his breath. “Don't kill them. Yet…"

“As you wish, master." Conrad gave a small dip of his muzzle at that in a nod.

Returning to the limo, the two headed out without another word. Henry was still processing what exactly was happening as Conrad drove them back home. That was until he took a side road, cutting away from the manor and towards the woods.

“Where are you taking me now?" Henry asked leaning through the open divider between the back and front of the limo.

“I'm kidnapping you, clearly." Conrad smirked as he pulled over and stopped by the side of the road. The Doberman pulled out his phone, sending a quick text before putting it aside with his sunglasses and earpiece.

“Conrad?" Henry asked as the Doberman got out of the vehicle and shut the door. It didn't take long for the Doberman to go around and open the side door.

With a single hand, Conrad stopped Henry from exiting and instead climbed into the back of the vehicle with him. Shutting and locking the door behind him the Doberman took a seat on the floor in the now cramped vehicle. The front seat had been redesigned for someone of his size, the back on the other hand hadn't been.

“What's going on…?" Henry dared to ask.

“I already told you, master Henry. I'm kidnapping you." Conrad offered with a shrug, unbutton the front of his suit and pulling it off his broad shoulders. The tight-fitting white dress shirt clung to his chest, forming around his arms and down his sides. He had a holster on with a firearm tucked on each side of his chest, under his arms.

He unbuckled it, setting it carefully to the side.

Genetic engineering had created one muscular Doberman and Henry blushed as Conrad proceeded to do the same with his shirt. Taking one button off, one by one, slowly, and carefully with his large fingers. Conrad used the blunt nails to undo the last one before peeling the shirt off his body. The white shirt was semitransparent with sweat as the canine set it aside.

“I didn't know dogs could sweat…" Henry just stated dumbly as he ended up staring at, ogling at and drooling over his bodyguard. He hadn't seen Conrad exposed like this since they were younger.

It had always been a guilty feeling he'd felt for Conrad, something he was sure the Doberman had long since picked up on. It meant cuddling with him were very handsy, touchy, and gropey. That changed after Conrad had told his father all Henry's secrets.

It didn't stop him from fantasizing about his bodyguard from time to time, touching himself whenever he did so.

“We were altered to be capable of doing so, master. Sweating is a good way to manage one's core body temperature. It wouldn't do us any good if we passed out due to overheating." Conrad scratched the brown markings on his chest. The fuzzy chest fur ran down between his abs and lower, disappearing into the top of his pants.

His fur was a glossy black with brown markings on his chest, under each arm and highlighted the Doberman's smile as Henry's eyes traced back up towards his face.

“See something you like?" Conrad teased making the human's cheeks flush. “You know I can smell your arousal." The Doberman went on giving Henry no time to collect his thoughts. “Ever since we were young, you were always so… worked up, whenever I was around." The Doberman continued as he rested back, tilting one leg open as if welcoming, beckoning Henry closer. “After all the years I waited for you to be an adult…" Conrad smiled softly. “You became one handsome man, master Henry."

“I'm not really sure what's happening," Henry admitted. He hoped he knew but wasn't experienced in this regard. Conrad had made sure no one could date Henry and now he was getting the sneaky suspicion why that had been.

Conrad had been extremely and at times overly protective of Henry, even encouraging him to fap to magazines or things he found online instead of daring to date anyone.

“It's your special day, master." Conrad tipped his muzzle down, looking at him with those deep brown eyes. “I was going to give you a special treat." The Doberman adjusted himself. “This is my birthday present to you. If you want to finish unwrapping it, you are free to do so. Sir."

“Treat?" Henry breath caught in his voice. The air had begun to smell like the Doberman. Hot and musky from their long day at the theme park. The way the sweat glistened on his fur, making it conform around his large pectoral muscles.

Henry easily could've used Conrad as a test dummy in K-9 biology, everything was so well formed and sculpted on his body. He was a testament to what they were capable of doing and Conrad was the pinnacle of genetic engineering on more than one level from the looks of that bulge in his pants.

“Sex, Henry." Conrad practically rolled his eyes. “I'm going to fuck you." Conrad stated. “You are mine. I was bred for this."

“For sex?" Henry wanted to laugh but his voice caught in his throat at Conrad's proclamation.

“To be yours." Conrad just said, once more, as if reminding the human why he even existed. “I have been waiting for this day, for you, for years. If you wish." Conrad smirked. “And you wouldn't even have to order me." The Doberman lifted a leg up, placing it on the ground and pushed his butt up just enough to slip off his pants he'd skillfully had undone while talking to the human.

In one smooth motion, Conrad was naked in front of him. Muscles rippled through his thin glossy black fur. From his thick arms over his broad shoulders, down his expansive chest and past the six pack were a pair of sturdy thighs, a tight ass and calves that would put a Greek god to shame. And between those thighs, resting just below that firm belly was a plump sheath and a pair of orange sized testicles resting on the Doberman's now crossed legs.

Henry just looked away, pulling down his hood as he stood there before the naked Doberman.

“Where the fuck were you even hiding that? How did those fit in your pants?" Henry was a mess as he stammered out the first question that popped into his head.

“Would you like to blow out your candle, master?" Conrad teased the flustered human as his stubby tail wagged. “I already unwrapped your present." The Doberman gestured down at himself. “Sorry, I couldn't wait. I was just so excited to give you your treat."

“I…" Henry wasn't sure what to say or do as the Doberman slowly got back up, needing to crouch in the small vehicle.

Conrad's hand shot out and gripped his arm, turning him to face the K-9. Conrad had always been so gentle with him; the action took Henry off-guard.

“Look at me," Conrad practically begged if his voice wasn't so heavy and sultry, dripping with lust as he panted down at the human. “I want to touch you," the Doberman licked his lips, swallowing loudly. “I want to sniff you. I want to lick your body." And Conrad closed in. “I want you to feel me like you used to. Years. Years I have waited for this. The moment I promised myself that you would. And I could… just… be with you, again."

Henry gasped as he felt those strong fingers roaming over his body. The thick leathery paw pads pressed against his shoulders, dragged down his chest and before the human could form a proper retort, Conrad pulled his sweater off. Greedily, the Doberman's hands dipped lower. He didn't even hesitate to slide his wanting fingers underneath the human's shirt, up his stomach and to his chest, lifting his school uniform with the motion.

The vehicle filled with a low deep growl, the Doberman murring at the feel and touch of his human. Henry's smell filled his nose as the Doberman pushed his snout underneath his jaw and let out a heavy, shaking breath.

“I was made for you," Conrad said in that low deep voice. “All I think about it, is you. All I want is you. I would kill for you." And the Doberman nuzzled his face. “I would hurt you to stay with you. I would make you hate me, so long as you let me have you…" And he growled, low and deep that vibrated inside his chest, up his throat and out his splitting jowls as he panted hotly against the human. “I want you. I need you. I can't live without you. Hate me, hit me, spit on me all you want. Just let me have you…"

Henry knew the K-9's had been bred to obey humans, he didn't realize how far this went, however.

“What if I don't…" Henry tried to ask but his shirt was quickly removed and tossed aside before the hungry, horny, worked up Doberman that bent down to nose and lick over the human's exposed neck.

Henry's legs gave out and he fell onto the seat behind him. The heated warm leather making his ass sweat as Conrad loomed over him.

“Unless you order me to stop…" Conrad only growled, gripping, and holding both his arms now as he nosed that sweet tender soft flesh. “You smell so good…" He huffed. “I've been around you for so long…" He licked his lips. “I tried to resist. I did resist. Finding other means and outlets… But not any longer." And his mouth open, steaming hot breath washed over Henry's slightly hairy chest as a red carpet of a tongue rolled out to lap and lick over one of his nipples.

Henry gasped, groaning out as he shuddered in the Doberman's unyielding grasp. Pinned and held against the leather seat now as Conrad grabbed hold of his arms, pushing them back as he tasted his sweet treat.

His heavy sack drooped between his muscular legs, hanging low as his sheath twitched and swelled with anticipation.

“Fuck," the human could only say. “No one has ever done this to me…"

“I know." Conrad growled at the very idea. “I'd have killed them. No one can touch you. Only me. Your mine. My human." Conrad huffed and panted, pressing Henry down onto the floor as he crawled over him on all fours. “Mine and mine alone." The Doberman continued to nose at him.

Sniff him. Lick him. Taste him. Oh, how Conrad had wanted this. Needed this. All he could think about was Henry. All he ever did was for Henry, unable to be apart. On some level the Doberman knew that this wasn't normal or natural. He didn't care. That didn't matter.

They made him like this, and it felt incredible. It felt intoxicating and Conrad wanted to lose himself in the pleasure that Henry's body gave him.

If they made him like this, to obsess and desire him so… then he would gladly give in full throttle to such feelings, such artificial instinct. Artificial? Fake? Lies? It didn't matter. He didn't care. That stuff, such human emotions were foreign and alien to his K-9 mind. All he knew was that he had to protect Henry. All he knew was that he thought of him every waking second of every waking day. All he knew was that he had to have him, claim him, mark him, breed him, and take him as his and his alone…

For Henry's own good. Conrad would be his friend, his brother, his bodyguard, his family… Conrad would fill every role Henry ever needed so, in the end, Henry would need no one other than him.

Henry gasped as he felt a slick hot fluid land on his chest. Looking down he could see the Doberman bucking his hips and that thick, clear fluid leaking from his sheath opening where the red tip was showing. It had filled up the sheath, stretching it out as Conrad whined and begged for it's release.

“Henry…" Conrad gritted his teeth, clawing the floor as he groaned out. Still trying to resist the urge to just… take him. Fuck him. Breed him like a wild animal out in the woods. Lost in the heat of him.

“L-let me get my pants off first." Henry tried to fuss with his belt. His hand was swatted aside like an annoying insect as the Doberman took control.

Lifting up his legs with ease, Conrad undid his belt with his teeth. Those deep brown eyes looking down the humans' body into his face as the Doberman slowly unzipped his pants and, in one smooth motion, pulled both his pants and underwear off. They were discarded with the Doberman's clothing.

“Conrad!" Henry covered his mouth as the Doberman, still holding him up, began nosing between his open legs without restraint.

“You smell…" Conrad warm breath tickled Henry's fuzzy sack. The human could only gasp as that hot drool covered tongue touched it. Licked it. Tasted his sweat from the long day. Licking at him, cleaning him as the Doberman nuzzled his muzzle between his thighs to devour that wonderful flavor.

It was like fire on his tongue, spicy and yet sweet. A taste Conrad had only dreamt of as he cleaned his master. Licking and tasting his sack, up along his inner thighs before parting his muzzle and going down on him. Henry's rigged shaft fit so naturally into his muzzle, then and there, Conrad knew that he truly had been built, design, bred and made for this man. This wonderful human. They fit together so naturally.

As if… they truly were made for one another.

That grooved, engorged dog tongue pressed underneath Henry's glands, teasing the tip and lapping over the width before cupping and suckling on the length as if the K-9 were drinking from a straw. His dull nails dug slightly into Henry's thighs. It didn't hurt, it only confirmed what Henry already knew.

Unless the human order him to stop, the Doberman was going to take him. Devour him. Keep him and love him until the day Henry said otherwise.

And in that moment, that was the farthest thought from the human's mind as he covered his face, breathing heavier and heavier as the lewd, wet slurping sounds filled the back of their limo. The only sound Henry could hear over the sound of his heartbeat hammering at his chest.

Conrad bobbed his head up and down letting the shaft slide in and out of his steaming hot muzzle. He flicked the tip of his tongue along the underside and slit of Henry's length. Teasing him endlessly. Never letting the human fully slip free. Never giving him a chance to breathe or collect himself.

No. Conrad couldn't have that. He couldn't let that happen. He couldn't ever let Henry slip free of him again. His fingers tightened, gripping, and holding the human as the Doberman opened his muzzle and let Henry length slurp out.

Drool splatted his thighs as the Doberman panted above him, looking down at him with pure unbridled lust and hunger.

“Conrad." Henry sat up but ended up being pulled up into the Doberman's lap.

Conrad hugged him. Nuzzled him. Pressed their naked bodies together as he ran his hands up and down the human's back. His dull blunt nails dragging over his skin making Henry shiver. The Doberman's thin fur was surprisingly and welcomingly warm. It was musky. He was musky. The smell was filling the car and Conrad let out a low murr from it as he rubbed his hot sweaty body and scent on the human. His human.

He'd make sure from now on, Henry always smelled like him.

Sitting in the Doberman's lap, Henry didn't see it so much as feel the K-9's excited tip poke up at his rear. That red tip engorging with the Doberman's excitement. It pushed up, dripping as it rubbed over Henry's taint, over his ass and cheeks painting his rear end with the Doberman's affection.

Conrad's arms tighten when Henry tried to move. The K-9 nuzzling the human's face with his long muzzle.

“Mine." Conrad only growled when Henry tried to escape, not that the human wanted such a thing. He had just been repositioning himself on the throbbing Doberman who was now grinding up against him, giving small humps. “I'll never let you go," Conrad huffed against the side of his face, whispering the growl of words against the human's ear.

He was so animal in that moment. Not the reserved, calm and collected bodyguard he'd lived with for the past four years. Right now, Conrad was more animal than anything else and it frightened and aroused Henry all at the same time.

Henry shivered. He wasn't sure if it was from the warm body pressed against him, the fact it was Conrad or the Doberman's thickening mass pressing against his rear. The K-9 blindly searching for his hole while grinding and rubbing and pressing up against him.

“I've never done this," Henry started up again.

“I know." Conrad just nuzzled him. “I'd never let anyone else have you." The Doberman growled above him. “The very idea of someone else touching you…" Conrad humped. “No." He said flatly, growling low as he humped against. “Mine." And Henry groaned as the tip pressed against his rear, that lubricating fluid dosing his hole in the Doberman's warmth. “Mine." He humped against, pressed against it, stretching the human he held securely in his arms. “Mine." The Doberman length pushed free of its protective sheath to penetrate the human making Henry cry out from the next thrust that followed.

Then the next.

And the next.

The Doberman holding him, nuzzling him, licking him as more of his body, his length, his soul poured out and into his human. Connecting them together as Henry's tight virgin hole was taken by the greedy Doberman fat, throbbing, veiny length.

Cupping Henry's ass with one large meaty hand, Conrad lifted the human up just enough to position him over his throbbing red shaft and, grabbing his other cheek, Conrad spread him. Teasing him with a single finger before pulling the human down on his glistening steaming hot body.

The tightness of him, the warmth of Henry's body squeezing around his girth, his size as the Doberman took him was electrifying. It made stars burst in Henry's vision as the Doberman rolled him onto his back as he slid out of his sheath and into its new home.

“Mine."

Conrad gripped Henry's legs with his hands, lifting them up as he began plowing the human against the carpeted floor of the limo. Sliding further, deeper, harder into the human trapped underneath him.

“Mine."

Conrad bent over as the whole vehicle rocked around them with the Doberman's lustful, forceful taking. He groaned out, growling low as spittle dripped down from above onto Henry's chest as the Doberman panted open maw above him. He didn't care how messy he was making Henry, how filthy and unclean the human would be.

It didn't matter because no one else would ever get the luxury or the chance to see Henry in his position. The human was gasping under him, looking up at him lost in the moment. His face was covered with the Doberman's drool, hot and sweaty and sticky. Looking up at him, panting like this.

Conrad felt it. Felt the shiver run through his entire body as their eyes met and he felt his soul connect with the human.

“You're mine!" Conrad practically cried out as he slammed his hips against Henry. Shoving his fat knot against the human's tail hole. Slamming their bodies together, pulling Henry against him with every thrust and taking the pounding the Doberman gave him.

It was rough. It wasn't, verbally, consensual. The Doberman couldn't stop himself even if he wanted too. This was something he needed. This was something he had to have. It might be Henry's special day, but today, it would be Conrad's. He'd take this day. He'd take this human. And claim it both as his own.

Forever.

Henry was biting the hand Conrad had placed over him. Over his mouth, holding him down. As if to prevent the human from daring to order him to stop. Covering Henry's groans of pain and pleasure so that they, too, belonged to Conrad. Covering Henry's mouth as the human looked up at him. Only him. No one else. This day, this moment, would forever be with them as Conrad rubbed his musky scent on the human's face, marking him as his as he took him in the back of the limo Conrad drove him around in.

With glazed, lust filled eyes Conrad pressed one last final time against the human and with an audible “pop" he slipped inside Henry's body. His knot swelled, tying the two of them together. Henry's hole would be wrecked after tonight and neither of them cared in that moment; Conrad would help the following day to take care of it for him.

Henry was sweating. He was panting. He had never been through such an ordeal in his cushy life. He didn't know sex could be so… rough.

And Conrad wasn't even finished yet.

Scooping Henry up in his arms, Conrad hugged the man against him, still tied, as he laid on his side as his hips continued to work on their own volition. The knot pulled on Henry's hole, making him whimper in the Doberman's strong grip. He was breathing heavily, panting against the dog.

“That's right…" Conrad closed his eyes, rocking his hips upwards against the human as he held Henry under one of his arms, against his musky armpit and held up his leg with another. “Breathe me in." The Doberman growled softly. “Let me be your everything…" He licked over Henry's face, nuzzling down at him as he rolled onto his back. “Let me be your world, as you're already mine…"

Holding Henry's thighs with his hands, Conrad gritted his teeth as he began humping upwards into the human. Henry bounced in the Doberman's lap; even if he wasn't being held, he knew he wouldn't have fallen off. That K-9 was tied to him now. They were bound to each other, and all Henry could do was go along for the ride.

It put the theme park to shame.

Nothing, no one could compare to Conrad. To him. To his K-9…

Panting, moaning, crying out in pure pleasure as Conrad's pressed and humped up into the human, grinding his length against Henry's prostate the entire time. Conrad watched Henry's painfully hard length bounce with the motion, slapping against his belly over and over again until, finally, Henry came.

Raining down over the glossy black furred K-9 underneath him, the human's body tightened as he covered his mouth with a hand crying out in satisfaction. He didn't know such a pleasure could exist and Conrad had given it to him.

And it only increased as the Doberman took his turn.

Henry's ass gripped around the pulsing length buried deep inside him. Conrad soaking in the feel of his mate's release before returning the favor.

The Doberman's muscular legs flexed, his arms tightened, his sack pulled up close to his body as he gritted his teeth as he felt the building pressure and the surge of electrical fire burning inside his body move downwards to his groin before finally…

Henry felt warm.

Far warmer than he ever had before as Conrad's thick release shot and spurted inside of him. It made the human feel heavy, tingling all over as Conrad mated him. Bred him. The Doberman gritted his teeth as his fat sack tightened against his body painfully as he gave everything to the human in his lap. His length pumping as Henry's tight hole nursed every drop out of the shaking K-9 underneath him.

Conrad truly felt helpless and powerless before the human as Henry's rear nursed him like this. Draining him of all his strength as he gave it to him, to his Henry, his master, his human… Conrad giving everything to him as if declaring, through this act alone, that he now truly belonged to and was owned by the human he had loved the very second he'd laid eyes on him.

“Holy," Henry had to grab Conrad's chest for support. “I, you, we just…" The human panted, huffing as he felt the Doberman underneath him, inside him, twitch once more. That thick length still leaking deep inside his hole. “You can stop now," Henry tried to tease, to joke but all he managed to do was collapse in his own mess on the Doberman's chest.

“Never." Conrad closed his eyes, breathing heavily as he wrapped an arm around Henry protectively. “I'll never stop." The Doberman swallowed loudly. “I'll never let you go, no matter what…"

And Henry believed him, tied as they were, he knew the Doberman would keep his promise as the two fell asleep in each other's arms.

This really had been the best birthday Henry could possibly ask for…
