It's been almost a year since my last upload. Yikes. I need to post more often. Anyway I hope you enjoy reading as much as I enjoyed writing.

After a long and hard day, the trio decided to head home. The clouds were rumbling above the rain forest, and they wanted to be home before it started raining. Jewel was practically rubbing up against Atemis, purring softly as they traveled through the biome. _"I think that went pretty well, despite it being our first mission," _she stated. Despite being tired, sore, and a little bruised, she was still quite perky. She then gave the umbreon a lick behind the ear and whispered in a seductive tone, "What do you say we celebrate by making a mess on the couch together when we get home?" Atty shuddered and blushed bright red, completely forgetting about his injuries for a moment. It was at that moment, Luna decided to step in and push the espeon away, standing between them with a stern look in her eyes.

"Knock it off, Jewel. I'm sure Atty doesn't feel like putting up with your advances right now."

"Aww, I'm just trying to have a little fun," the espeon said with a smirk.

"That's what worries me." The lycanroc sighed.

"We're here," said Atemis as the cottage came into view. "Home sweet home."

"Finally," Luna said under her breath.

Luna, Jewel, and Atty laid comfortably on the couch, recounting the rescue to the rest of the household as their wounds were treated. Juniper was holding an ice pack to Luna's head for her splitting headache. "Sounds like you three had a pretty rough time," the leafeon said, "I'm glad you made it back in one piece."

"Wouldn't have been so bad if I'd been there," Tess said in a snarky tone.

"We had to deal with a team of ground types, Tess," Atty replied, "You wouldn't have stood a chance."

_The luxray huffed, _"I guess we'll never know, will we?"

"Well, anyways," Jewel said as she stood up and stretched, "I think I'm gonna call it a night. Good night everyone." The espeon started heading upstairs, but stopped about halfway up and looked at the umbreon with a seductive look in her eyes. "And Atty, if you decide you're feeling a little lonely tonight, my bed is always open to you," she said with a wink. Atty blushed as he tried to advert his gaze. The espeon giggled and left. Luna sighed and rolled her eyes.

"That girl wants you bad, Atemis."

"Way to point out the obvious, Luna," said Valentine as she laid comfortably on the couch. "It's quite clear Jewel's not gonna stop until she gets what she wants." The ninetales looked at the umbreon. "How do you feel about all of this?" Atty just stared blankly for a moment before he replied.

"Honestly, I'm having mixed feelings about it. I don't know if it's because I'm a pokemon now or not, but there's a part of me that wants to take Jewel up on her offer. And then there's a part nagging me not to give in to my desires. It's really confusing."

"Well, whatever happens between you two is none of our concern. We won't judge you. Right girls?" The others nodded, except for Tess.

"Um, thanks, I guess." He smiled sheepishly. He then gave a big yawn, standing and stretching as he jumped down from the couch. "I think I'm gonna turn in, too. Good night, girls."

"Good night, Atty," said Valentine.

Atemis retreated to his room for the night. It was lightly raining outside and the sound of the water droplets tapping gently against the window seemed to help him drift off to sleep. As he entered a deep sleep, his pendant began to vibrate and glow. Within minutes, Atty entered a dream-like state, or at least what felt like a dream. He was suddenly awake and in a familiar looking forest, and saw a figure. It was Xerneas. _"Hello, child," _she greeted.

"Xerneas."

"I wanted to personally congratulate you on a job well done. With Ikari out of the picture, things should return to normal around the village."

"If I may ask, what became of Ikari and his marauders?" Atty asked.

"After his defeat, his followers lost their respect for him. So they disbanded, leaving Ikari all alone. From what I understand, Ikari is returning to the mountains, likely to train and get stronger."

"So there's a chance he'll be back?"

"Perhaps. But you needn't worry about that now," she assured him. "For now, you should rest while you can. I'll have another task for you soon."

"Thank you, Xerneas." In the blink of an eye, everything suddenly went white again. Atty woke up from his deep sleep and noticed he was back in his room, laying on his bed. He looked out the window and noticed it was still raining lightly. His ear began to twitch at the sound of a door creaking open, and a familiar face entering the room. It was the leafeon, Juniper. "Hey, Flower," he greeted, "is everything alright?"

"Yes," she stuttered, "I was just wondering... if I could bunk with you tonight?" The leafeon blushed as she struggled to look Atty in the eye. He smiled.

"Of course you can." He patted the open spot next to him. Juniper jumped on the bed and laid down and cuddled with the umbreon. He felt a smooch on his cheek and blushed slightly.

"Thank you, Atty," she whispered in his ear. He laid his head down and closed his eyes as he tried to return to sleep. Juniper just sat there and watched him as he drifted off again. "Oh, Atty," she thought to herself, "I wish I had the courage... to tell you my true feelings..." Juniper eventually fell asleep herself. Her mind began to wander as she thought about her true love. Then came the memory of the day she met Atty.

Roughly five years ago, on a warm spring afternoon, along Route one-sixteen, a lone eevee was relaxing in a field of flowers. It was her favorite spot, and her preferred pass time. Everything was completely normal and peaceful. Taillow were soaring in the air, beautifly were suckling on the flowers, combee were buzzing about. Yes, absolutely peaceful. She thought nothing could possibly spoil this perfect day.

Everything was going great, until suddenly the surrounding pokemon fled the scene in what seemed like a state of panic. The eevee took note of the unexpected silence, and wondered what was going on. She heard rustling in the bushes nearby. A figure came out. It was a human clad in leather gear, including a vest, gloves, boots, and pants. He had a whip and some pokeballs on his belt. It was quite clear he was a hunter, possibly even a poacher. "Aha! An eevee," he said, "and a female at that." He gave a sinister chuckle as he reached for one of the balls on his belt, and tossed one. A bright flash of light filled the area as the pokemon within was released. The light faded, revealing a nearly six foot tall, bear-like pokemon with brown fur, light tan coloring around its muzzle, inner ears, and paw pads. It had narrow eyes, a triangular, black nose, and a wide mouth with small, visible fangs in the upper jaw. It also had a large, tan, ring-shaped mark on its chest. The eevee shuddered in fear at the sight of this massive beast. _"Ursaring, use hyper beam," _the trainer commanded. The bear pokemon immediately responded by opening its mouth and channeled an orb of energy that grew bigger by the second, and finally unleashed a powerful beam directly towards the little eevee. She stood there, paralyzed with fear, but managed to find the courage to jump away at the last second. Although she was able to dodge the initial attack, the area of effect blast sent her flying a short distance across the field. The landing was rough. She skidded across the flowers and left a small trail behind her. She struggled to stand, and could feel the ursaring and its trainer drawing closer. The eevee found the strength to stand and made a run for it. She could hear the poacher shout something along the lines of 'come back here'.

She ran into the forested area and eventually ran out into an open dirt road. She stopped momentarily to catch her breath, but quickly dashed off again when she heard her pursuers getting close. She suddenly bumped into something, or rather someone. She looked up and met the gaze of another human. He had short, brown hair and dark eyes, and a bit of thin chin scruff. Traveling by his side was an Alolan ninetales. Both of them stared at the eevee for a moment before the human finally spoke up. "Hello, little one. What's the hurry?" They could all hear heavy footsteps heading their way. The eevee ran and hid behind the much friendlier human's leg, seeking protection from the poacher and his ursaring. It wasn't long before they finally caught up. The hunter glared at the eevee, then at the trainer she was hiding behind.

"Stand aside, sir. That eevee is mine."

He looked down at the little vee, who was pawing at his leg and gave a tearful look. "Eev," she said, which sounded like a plea for help to him.

"Doesn't look like she wants to go with you."

"So what? She's going whether she likes it or not. That little eevee will fetch some good coin in the black market."

The trainer gave a cockeyed stare. "Are you a poacher?"

"What's it to you?" _He was getting irritated at this point. _"I'm not gonna ask again."

_The trainer shook his head. _"If you want this eevee, you'll have to go through me."

The poacher huffed and crossed his arms. "Have it your way. Ursaring! Front and center!" The bear pokemon stepped forward and readied itself for battle.

"Val, you're up," the trainer called out to his ninetales companion, who eagerly responded by stepping up in front of him, assuming a fighting stance and gave a glare at her opponent. The bear and fox pokemon stared at each other intensely as they awaited further orders from their masters.

"Ursaring, slash attack!" The bear immediately reacted with a raised paw, claws extended as it charged for its opponent.

"Val, use your ice beam." The ninetales opened her mouth as a bluish ball formed, and released a concentrated beam of frozen energy that struck the ursaring in the chest, slowing it down as ice began to form across its body, eventually freezing it in place.

"Ursaring, don't stand for that!" Try as it might, the bear pokemon could not move whatsoever.

"Good job, Val," the fox's trainer praised, "now show them your dazzling gleam attack." The ninetales stood gracefully, and then shifted her position slightly as each of her tails spread out and pointed towards her target, and her eyes glowed white as a gleam of bright, glittering light shot forth in front of her. The ice shattered as the ray hit its mark and knocked the ursaring off its feet.

"Get up, Ursaring!" the poacher commanded, "Don't let that prissy thing beat you!" The bear tried to do as instructed, but was somewhat blinded from the recent attack, and rubbed its eyes. It got to its feet, but when the ursaring looked at its foe, it was seeing double. "Hammer arm!" It charged the ninetales, arm raised as it began swinging at the ninetales, slamming down hard on the ground and kicking up clouds of dirt. Val was jumping back to avoid the hits, and was somehow managing not to get a speck of dirt on her flawless, pale blue coat. When it got too close, she blasted the bear in the face with another ice beam, staggering and canceling the attack. The eevee looked up at the trainer she was hiding behind endearingly.

"He's actually winning," she thought to herself, _"and he's doing it for me..." _Her cheeks turned rosy as she smiled warmly.

"I've had enough of this nonsense," said the poacher. _"Hyper beam, now!" _The ursaring opened its mouth and charged an attack, unleashing its full power seconds later towards the fox. She managed to get out of the way, but the attack was miscalculated and was heading directly towards the trainer.

"Uh oh..." His eyes widened like a deer in headlights, and he looked down at the eevee and quickly shoved her out of the way as the beam made contact with him, sending him flying across the field and leg first into a rock formation. A loud crack was heard, followed by a scream in pain. _"My leg!" _He just laid there in the dirt, shouting in agony as Val and the eevee ran to his side. However, he could also feel the poacher and his pokemon approaching.

"Serves you right," said the poacher as he leered at his fallen foe. _"I gave you a chance to walk away, and look what happened. That eevee is mine, now." _Suddenly, the ursaring was struck by a bolt of lightning, went numb, and collapsed. The hunter noticed and was astonished, before being struck by a bolt and going completely limp himself. The trainer, ninetales, and eevee were all confused for a moment before noticing a new pokemon and its trainer, an officer by the looks of it. It was a levitating robot-like pokemon that featured three conjoined bodies, all spherical and gray with a single eye each, along with two horseshoe magnets with a red and blue tip a piece. The topmost body had three Philips head screws, while the others only had two.

"Good work, Magneton," the officer praised as he approached the downed poacher and cuffed him. After he was sure the hunter was secured, he approached the trainer on the ground. "Are you alright, sir? That was a heck of a hit you took."

He tried to move, but it was too painful to do so. "No. I think my leg is broken." The officer reached for his radio.

"I need an ambulance on Route one-sixteen."

Later in Rustboro Hospital...

The trainer laid in a hospital bed, his knee in stitches and wrapped in bandages. His ninetales companion was resting by his bedside. He was in the middle of reading a book to pass the time when he heard a knock at the door. A doctor entered with a clipboard in hand, and a familiar pokemon followed him in. "Is this eevee yours? She's been trying to get in here since we brought you in."

"Not officially," he answered, "but she's welcome to stay." The little eevee ran to his side and jumped on to the bed with him, and gave a soft 'eev' as she nuzzled and rubbed against his face. Her affection was answered with a soft, gentle rub across her back.

"Atemis, is it?" said the doctor as he read off his clipboard. "How are you feeling?"

"Sore, but not bad."

"That's good, considering the shape your leg was in when we brought you in. Your knee was completely shattered. It took us hours to pull all the broken pieces out of your tissue, and we had to give you and artificial replacement. It will take some time for you to make a full recovery."

"Will this affect my pokemon journey?"

"It will be difficult for you to walk normally without some sort of support, so I'm afraid I can't recommend that you continue traveling long distances."

"I see." Atty had a look of disappointment on his face.

"It's all my fault..." the eevee thought to herself as her ears folded. _"He's hurt because of me." _She suddenly felt a stroke across her back.

"Don't you fret, little one, I don't regret a thing," Atty assured. "I'd take a hundred more hyper beams if it means protecting a pokemon in need." She looked endearingly into his eyes and blushed slightly.

"You'll be kept her for a couple of days for recovery and some physical therapy. Then we'll decide if you're fit to be released." The doctor began making his leave. "A nurse will be with you shortly with some medicine. Try to get some rest."

"Thanks, doc," Atty replied. Once the doctor left and they were alone, Atemis turned his attention to the eevee. "I've been doing some thinking. There's room in my party for one more pokemon. Would you be interested in joining?" Her tail began to wag ecstatically.

"Eev!" she said happily and gave him a kiss on the cheek.

"I'll take that as a yes," he chuckled. "Now we just need to think of a name for you." Atty suddenly gave a yawn and stretched. "That's for later, though. Right now, I need rest." He closed his eyes and slowly drifted off into sleep. The eevee curled up into a ball under his arm and did the same.

Two days later...

After undergoing some intense therapy, Atty was able to almost walk on his own, and was ready to check out of the hospital. He gathered his belongings, and continued on his way, returning to route one-sixteen. As for naming the newest member of his party, he thought of many names, but nothing really seemed to click for him or the eevee. He had traveled a good distance, the ninetales and eevee staying close to him as he walked with the support of a cane. He began to grow tired, and sought a place to rest up. He found a decent looking tree he could sit under, about eighty-five feet tall with red-brown bark, and fleshy, berry-like cones growing all over. Atty took a seat under it. The ninetales, Valentine, laid next to him. The eevee made herself comfortable in his lap. Atty looked up and observed the tree for a moment.

"Juniperus grandis," he said aloud, "otherwise known as the Sierra juniper. It's beautiful." He could feel his pokemon staring at him, like what he just said confused them. "My mother's a botanist. I've learned a thing or two about plants." Something suddenly occurred to him, and he smiled and looked down at the pokemon resting in his lap. "That's it! What do you think of the name Juniper?" The eevee's ears perked up, and she looked up at her trainer. "And you'll be my little flower, because you're so beautiful and delicate. What do you think?" She blushed and smiled back at him, then climbed up and gave him a kiss on the nose. Atty knew her answer at that point. "Juniper it is then. My sweet little flower."

The memory ended there...

_June woke up from her deep sleep and looked out the window. It had stopped raining, and the sun was just rising behind the trees. She looked at the umbreon by her side, who was still fast asleep, sighed, and spoke in a low voice, _"Seems like only yesterday when I became your little flower..."
