Trissie finally reached red shining ground and sighed, the ache and roughness of the wastelands behind him. Soft whispers of praise caressed his mind from within. He had made it home. "Pop!" He called out, remembering from the part of him that was Mael that the lab had returned home.

It was a few moments, but suddenly Pop burst from the ground. "Trissie?" He paused, staring. "Trissie... what did Echo do to you...?"

The silvered dal whimpered a little, having hoped for a hug, or a glomp, or even getting nommed as a welcome home. "He claimed me... He made me forget about you."

Pop's eyes widened. "I... what?" He padded over slowly, "How did you remember?"

The dal murmured, looking down. Oddly he was slowly shrinking, looking less adult with every moment. He didn't notice he was reverting to being a puppy, just from his emotional state, "Mael came and saved me, but... I took him before he had finished."

"Mael? Was that the black shepherd?" Pop asked, then noticed the black wings his lost pet had gained... just like that pup who had told him Trissie was missing... "He's a part of you now, isn't he..?"

Trissie nodded, feeling ashamed of himself. All the critters he had nommed while under Pop's care had been let go to be remade in their beds in his cities, remembering nothing of the event... this is the first time he had truly taken someone.

"Does he mind?" Pop asked earnestly.

Trissie blinked, and looked up at Pop.

A breath of thought enfolded Trissie's mental landscape, a sense of peace, working to soothe his guilt.

By now Trissie was as much of a puppy as when Pop made him into a dal, whining softly, "I... it seems like he doesn't..."

Pop smiled, "Good... He wanted to take care of you, and now he can. Now, let's see about getting all this silver off you. From the state of your muzzle I'd wager the silver is mostly surface..." Pop gently wrapped himself around his lost puppy and began to draw Echo from Trissie like venom from a wound.

Trissie groaned and splayed out, feeling Pop all around him, then feeling the silver starting to dissolve off of him a bit at a time, leaving his black material underneath exposed.

Pop shuddered. As soon as he pulled some of the silver away, he felt a strange tingle of delight, and felt like he needed more. He swallowed his drool and continued, making sure to not hurt Trissie and just melt away the silver parts of the pup. He started to divert the silver out of himself into his land, and to diffuse it, hoping it would become less alluring so spread out in himself.

Somewhere, a pure white pup got pulled through the ground and melted down, slated to be remade in red, so Pop had the material to re-coat his puppy with white to go between his spots.

Slowly the red material sloughed off the once again white and black dal, leaving Trissie murmuring and shivering slightly, as if chilly. The puppy pressed against Pop, clinging with a soft whine.

"Trissie? What's wrong?" Pop wrapped the pup up in his wings gently.

The dal shuddered, "I... I think I'm going into withdrawl..."

"What?" Pop's eyes widened.

"S-something about Echo's silver... It's different." He murmured, pawing gently at Pop, even able to feel the extremely diffuse silver in him, but it wasn't enough. "It's addictive, I think... His denizens are made from a mix too fluid for them to resist him at all."

Pop pondered... he would have to find a solution to this, but first a quick fix. He didn't want his puppy to suffer. The silver in the lands was sucked back to Pop, and the red Labrador moaned as his insides were coated with it.

Before the winged Labrador could do anything else, Trissie was already pressing himself into Pop's maw, whining and shuddering, wheeling his hindpaws in midair when he had gotten further in.

Pop realized this might be harder than it first appeared, and gently hefted the puppy up, swallowing and tucking him in, lapping over his rounded paws as they passed. He felt Trissie settle and stop shivering when he was fully wrapped in the silver lining. The red Labrador padded his way along, trying to think of something, anything to be a more long term solution.

He pondered, a surrogate silver could work, but Trissie may have to live in it, at least for a home, for some time before his addiction had faded. Pop worried that he might become addicted too, as he felt over his silver lined belly, and the puppy inside, now seeming quite asleep.

He continued padding along, and heard distantly, "We'll make you a Trailer out of anything! Anything you want, vinyl, latex, PVC, even Foam Rubber!" Pop turned his head to see an anthro labradoodle in a suit, advertising on a TV in one of the shops downtown.

Padding over to the TV, Pop sat down and watched the ad carefully.

The Labradoodle continued his pitch, "We build you custom trailers, anywhere from a simple storage trailer to a fully outfitted living space! And we even have custom computer interface!"

The screen switched to a white whippet looking a little nervous to be on camera. At the bottom of the screen it said "Lance, head of Engineering and Programming"

After a moment the whippet spoke, "Using the latest advances in AI power, we can give your trailer's internal computer personality, and it will interact with you via a friendly and cuddly plush toy." Lance held up a small generic pup toy as an example.

The ad then cut to a map of the city, and where their shop was. Pop melted through the ground.

******************************

The sales director yawned and sprawled a bit in his chair, idly wondering if those ferrets down at the TV station were even playing the ad that they spent so much making. The Labradoodle perked at a squeaky voice, more so than most other shinies.

"Hello, I saw your ad, and I'd like a custom Trailer with Custom material and a Custom AI!" When the Labradoodle looked, he saw a quadruped Labrador with wings, the same red as the ground.

"Alright sir, what is your price range?" The sales director had dealt with quad pups before, so he wasn't too surprised by that. He was more surprised at how the pup had gotten in so silently, and the wings. He hadn't seen wings on a pup before.

"Money is no object! I own a lot of land, you see, but I need something special for my puppy." The customer said with gusto, wagging and looking around.

"Well, let's show you around the show-room, alright?" The sales director grinned brightly. "You'll see the different styles we make, and you can choose a material." He turned away, headed to the showroom, wagging his slightly poofy tail. When he turned back once in the showroom, he saw his customer had a puppy with him now, a Dalmatian with wings as well, though the dal was shivering weakly. "Is he alright...?"

The larger winged pup pet the smaller with his paw, and the salespup thought he saw something silver held in the pup's paw as it stroked over the shivering pup, and gradually the dal's shivering receded. "He's the reason I'm getting this... are these all the models you make?" The customer asked calmly, even as he kept stroking.

"Yessir." The labradoodle nodded, "Would you like to hear about them?"

The pup shook his head, "This one seems to have all the amenities we could need." The red lab pointed with a rounded paw to the highest end model in the showroom. "Where's that whippet from the ad?"

The sales director looked a little taken aback, "I, well, he's in his office."

"I'd like to talk to him about the custom material. It will not be one from your selection, you see." The pup nodded firmly to emphasize his point.

"Alright, follow me..." The sales director led the customers over to a series of offices. He rapped on one of the doors, "Hey, Lance. Some customers want to talk to you directly."

"Really?" Asked the timid voice from inside, "I... Well let them in, I guess..."

The door opened revealing the white whippet from the commercial, sitting behind his desk with a computer, designing on the screen.

"Do you have a bucket?" Asked the red customer.

The whippet blinked and found one under his desk, sliding it over, watching with interest.

The red Labrador held his paw out over the bucket and the pawpads started to flow, pouring silver out of his body into the bucket, gushing out for a few seconds, until he was purged.

The Dalmatian next to the lab stared, shivering a bit. He looked like he wanted to jump into the bucket, now.

The lab noticed this and cuddled the dal close with a wing, but now he felt an ache, starting to shiver as well, "Ohh... it... It's really... really addictive, Lance... We need a trailer made of something similar enough to help us break this addiction."

Lance adjusted his glasses, looking carefully at the silver substance. "I'll need some time to analyze this... How long do you think you'll be able to do without it...?"

The dal whimpered at this idea, and the Labrador pondered, reaching into the bucket and pulling from the fluid two silver chewtoys, handing one to the pup beside him, "Is it too much to ask that you make this your top priority?"

Lance shook his head, "No, not at all... We have a waiting area you can relax in, please, take whatever space you need."

The Labradoodle glared at Lance and the whippet looked back a little uneasily, but ultimately, the labradoodle relented, "Come this way, sirs..." the sales manager led the two pups out of the room, both now chewing on their addictive chewtoys.

Lance was left in his office alone. First he saved what he was working on, and sent it to some of the junior engineers, delegating the project to them, before he took the bucket carefully over to the area of the room where he worked on synthesizing new material mixes. Even as he worked at analyzing the silver, he was already thinking of the AI he'd have to use for the base for the interface. As the computer stopped to compile data, he went back to his workdesk and started with the base trailer that the customers had chosen, choosing what parts would be this replacement silver and what the other parts would be. Due to the nature of this silver he pondered using a semisolid matrix for the bed, to be controlled by the AI.

The computer buzzed, printing out results on the other end of the room, just as he had finished layout on this new project.

He stared at the results his computers gave him. If a single drop had spilt and touched him, he'd likely be trying to drink it within ten minutes, with how addictive this appeared. Addiction was a complex emotional state, though. He had had to make several different AI personalities, but he didn't know if any of them could really deal with addiction this strong. He thought back to the way the pups shivered. He really wanted to help them, but how...? He sat down in front of his computer, staring to run computations.

******************************

The night was a long one for Trissie, he stayed nestled in close to Pop, chewing on the chewtoy made from remnant Echosilver, hating that his body needed this, but at the same time occasionally shivering at how good it felt. The remnant voice of Mael in his mind didn't judge, it simply tried to keep him calm. In his present state, any emotional turmoil might be dangerous.

In the morning light, the sounds of machines whirring slowly woke the pup from his latest restless sleep. Trissie wanted to ask Pop what was going on, but he didn't want to take the silver from his muzzle either. A few minutes later, his answers were delivered another way.

The labradoodle arrived, holding a note. "I got this note from Lance, he says he can't talk right now, but the computers are fabricating your order. Your trailer should be ready within the hour."

Pop nodded, and Trissie tried to nestle in under one of Pop's wings. He felt Pop stroking over him, and slowly, fitfully began to nap again.

******************************

It was indeed only about an hour before the Labradoodle returned, "Huh, I can't find Lance anywhere, but your order is ready for you to look at..."

Pop nosed Trissie awake and then hopped down off the couch they had taken overnight, following the sales-pup. They made their way to the back lot of the dealership, an underhang area with robotic arms and tanks of materials, everything needed to fabricate, and there, sitting in the middle, was a streamlined silver trailer, graceful and simple in design. The door was open invitingly.

Pop hopped up the stairs into the trailer and looked around. His jaw dropped, the bone falling right out. "It... It's so perfect..."

Trissie followed and found himself dropping his own to gape. The insides of the trailer were as graceful and intuitive as the outside, a kitchenette to one side, a bed area to the other, and at the other end an entertainment center, easily within range of laying on the bed. The bed itself looked like a silver waterbed. Though as they looked, the surface deformed, revealing a curled up whippet of silver there.

Slowly the whippet stretched, then sat up, quadropedal, with glowing blue eyes, with no visible pupils. Somehow instead of disconcerting, the silver whippet looked calm and ready to help. It spoke, "Good day, Master. I am Trance. I am your Trailer's Responsive Access Nucleus and Command Envoy. I am the interface with the Trailer's computer. Or perhaps I am the computer's face to inter." He giggled a bit.

Trissie perked a bit, and then blushed as he realized some of the implications of that statement, even if they were not intended.

Pop hmmed, smiling and padding over to the bed, "Trance, is it? That's a nice name... You remind me of someone..."

"I was modeled to be a reasonable facsimile for use in breaking the addiction to Echo's Silver." Trance explained, though there was a bit of a nervous quaver in his voice.

Pop chuckled, "Is that so...? Well, that explains that. You look like a good puppy for the job. I'll take you."

"Y'hear that, I got a sale!" Trance called out to the sales-pup outside.

Trissie peered at Trance strangely, not quite sure what was up with this AI, though he was quite friendly. Also, he was starting to shiver again, so he leaned down to pick up the bone, only to see it was gone. The dal whimpered.

A flow of silver eased from the bed and gently pulled the shivering puppy over to lay on the soft silver surface. Trance reached to pet the puppy softly.

As this was happening, Pop was discussing the contract with the Salespup just outside, though he was starting to quiver a little.

The pup murmured and pressed into the petting. It wasn't as much relief as Echo's Silver had been, but he had stopped shivering, slowly settling in.

"That's a good puppy. Let Trancey take care of you." The digital whippet spoke softly, tenderly.

"You're really well written..." Trissie muttered, before falling asleep.

******************************

Trance waited for the sale to be finalized, watching Pop through his external cameras. He was still getting used to all his new functions, and would have to run some tests on the appliances and devices under his control. But he knew he could be the perfect home for these two pups. The idea made him happy, and his tail wagged behind him. He'd have to get used to being quadrupedal too, and maybe he could still do some modeling from time to time. He even included in the design a little fabrication station next to the kitchen, a bit of a self-indulgence, creator's prudence.

Pop finally returned, wagging, stepping inside and then flopping onto the bed and letting out a sigh, the almost imperceptible quivers in his form ceasing, "Oh... this is a good substitute... Good job Lance."

Trance stammered, "I... but... uh..."

Pop looked up at the whippet, "It's okay. I'll call you Trance if you want me to... I think it's sweet you'd give yourself to me. Most of my pets I have to claim." He giggled.

"I'm your pet...?" Trance blinked, his eyes going dark then light, rather than an actual lid covering them, blushing at the idea.

"You're not a toy, Trance. You're not an object." Pop said firmly. "You're a pup, and you're my pup, so you're my pet, just like Trissie here. And I expect you to take good care of us."

"Y-yes sir." Trance blushed, leaning over the sleeping dal to nose softly at Pop.

Pop smiled, "Now, unless you can wheel yourself around I'm gonna arrange for you to be taken to a nice vacant lot on the crest of a hill. Would you like that?"

Trance smiled and nodded, "Oh... Oh yes sir."

******************************

It was a week before Trissie could leave the bed without shivering. And only then it was after Trance had fed him food laced with his replacement silver. He stepped out of the trailer gingerly, knowing he could come back inside at any time. Pop was out somewhere, a little more free to move about since Trance's silver was in the foundation of this new lot now, and Pop was the Shining Lands.

But out from the woodwork, it seemed, came three of Project. Trissie's first reaction was to take a step back towards Trance and the Trailer, but then he didn't want to risk his new friend's individuality.

The wind shifted.

The unique scent of Project crossed Trissie's nose. His stomach growled. The puppy's stature shifted as he closed his eyes, sleekening out, getting taller, seeming to grow up. The slender, sleek dal spread his black wings, grinning as he opened his eyes, now green. "Ohhh... it's been forever since I had Project for Lunch."
