#3 of Royal Right

Chapter 3 of a 4 part short story I made for an art piece I commissioned of my character's transition into a deity. Jock Erin is canon, this is sort of an AU. The piece in question:https://www.furaffinity.net/view/51031566/

The three had waited patiently, Erin's body hadn't moved, hadn't jolted, anything, just laid there, so the trio casually talked amongst each other while waiting. Until suddenly a deep grunt came from the wolf and he shifted.

Three pairs of eyes suddenly snapped to the blue canine's body. After all, only a few minutes had passed, time seemingly moving more quickly for them than in the wolf's head.

Erin's eyes opened, and instead of their usual color, they were a pure golden, the wolf looked around to see three faces staring at him. Then looked down at his dress, noticing an ill-fitting tank top and a jockstrap, it felt weird to be in this body. And even more so to be dressed like this.

"Well? Will I be given some kind of welcome?" The wolf spoke, taking a look at the monkey and then another glance at the screen to see the lion and horse.

"Is it me or did his eye color change?" Jalen questioned.

"It's... not just you, His eye color *did* change. Erin... What happened?" Gabe asked another question.

"Your lion friend wanted me to experience life as a mortal. I agreed. Under the one condition that Erin put himself in my shoes and have the same experience as a deity." the wolf spoke, physical body now being 'possessed' by the spirit.

"I knew spirits were real dude!" Jalen exclaimed.

"Shut the hell up, Jalen. You!" Gabe shouted, before getting up suddenly and once more pointing at Erin. "How do we know this isn't some plan to try and take over Erin's body for good?!"

"Oh spare me repeating myself, foolish man. Know this. I would not be here if Erin did not agree. Clearly he did. I have no need for your trust. But surely you can trust your 'friend'." the blue wolf spoke.

"Besides, To further reassure you, at 12 midnight, we shall return to our former bodies post haste."

"Yeeeeeeah that's definitely not the Erin we know, no way in fucking hell he'd speak like that." Drew added.

Gabe clenched his teeth, always the worry of the group. Especially considering this is all sudden and a gray area... But what the lion said next did calm the monkey down.

"Ay, there's no reason to be so upset. I mean c'mon, how are we supposed to show him anything about mortals if we just treat 'em hostile. Let's show 'em our hospitality! He's technically Erin, just from another dimension."

"Yeah, he has a good point! Uh, just don't do any funky magic shit, Weird spirit dude. I mean uh... Erin?" The equine agreed.

"What even is your name in the other dimension... is it still... Erin?" The monkey questioned.

The deity now taken mortal form nodded. "For now, refer to me as... Neal, to differentiate more easily. Now, Tell me about your... 'plan'."

"Well we're gonna show you around the city, have a good time, it's the weekend! Whether ya like it or not, you're stuck with us now, got it? I just hope the uhh, other Erin, is having a fine time where he's at right now." Drew said excitedly, No point in trying to deny this bizarre situation but dammit the horse is gonna make the most of meeting some weird other-dimensional spirit turned into his friend if it was the last thing he did!

Erin opened his eyes, a little groggy. He groaned deeply, after that shock, he was knocked out cold... But now awoke to a different sensation inside his body. Comfortable warmth wrapped around his body, looking around, he recognized he was laying on his side on velvet, silk sheets, a plush, warm blanket placed over him in an... enormous bed, even for his size.

He took a moment to take everything in, the room he found himself in, laced with gold everywhere, with different markings along the wall, but regardless of its incredible expanse, it was actually... quite simple, no other rooms or areas attached, In fact, he sat up and ahead saw a grand double door quite a few feet away from the edge of his bed, Two sets of armor stood by the door, Avian shaped helmet's, spears in armored hands.

He didn't know if they were decorations or something else... He got up and removed the blanket from his body. His eyes immediately drew to the fact he was completely naked... Not too much of a surprise, but he did see those tattoos from before that he saw on the deity's body now on his own...

He still had his memory of the deity wanting him to walk in the shoes of godhood. Was this it...? Was he in the other's body and experiencing what he did? It felt unreal, but he decided to walk up to the door slowly, Stomps felt heavy and strong, stronger than normal.

As he walked over, he would see that the completely still armor didn't move an inch, and he also towered over them much more than he was used to towering over... well... anyone. Getting up right to the door, he paused and saw that the difference in height was incredible... He must've been at least 16 feet tall, and the armor at the most 5 to 6 feet in comparison.

The canine was in awe, but also wondered... were these... hollow? Just for decoration...? He looked at one of them intently, staring, and staring... it still didn't move. He waited a few more moments... Before bringing down a hand and waving it over the armor's beaked helmet.

It jolted. So did Erin.

"S-sir... i-is there something wrong? Was my form off?" The armor asked, no apparent face visible at first.

"Oh, n-no! I was just uhh..." Erin responded, not really sure how to answer.

The armor tilted its head.

"S-sir... You usually aren't this stuttery, are you alright? Need more water? Perhaps another bath prepared for you... or a foot massage! I can call upon your bodily care servants immediately. They will make haste!" The sentient metal exclaimed with a salute.

"No, no. None of that is necessary dude, I just wanted to see if you were... alive." Erin spoke awkwardly.

The armor looked towards his identical twin on the other side of the door which looked back awkwardly at the same time.

"Are you alright, Sir?" they both questioned in unison.

The wolf was thrown off for a moment, Too confused, but ah, He had to remember! Dammit. He was royalty now! This was a... different dimension, he supposed? He was taking over the god's shoes, so of course, he was a god at the current moment, Act like one! The wolf assured himself.

With a clearing of his throat, he spoke effortlessly, loud, clear, and precise. If there was any faltering in his voice before, there wasn't now. "Yes, Now get back to your stations. Immediately." the last word boomed through the room.

The soldiers shuffled, armor clunking and rattling in a desperate attempt to get back in their positions in a mannerly time. And even so, their bodies trembled in fear of upsetting their royal highness.

"Yes! My Lord. Apologies!"

Erin flushed slightly, did they... obey his every word? And the last word he spoke seemed... More demanding than usual. He wasn't used to this feeling at all, But still, better to act the part than anything! This was still weird though...

With them now back in their... place, Erin supposed, he would push the doors open himself. This made the soldiers somewhat shift a little, The wolf wasn't aware, but that was their job. And so they were left to believe that they had disappointed or upset their deity...

The wolf definitely had some adjusting to do, but for now he would 'play' the part... I mean, this couldn't be too bad, right? Just had to order people around and... pretend to know what he was saying or talking about.

Erin walked out of his room, A set of armored soldiers outside, posted in the same fashion right next to the door on either side, then began to push it back closed. The wolf watched them intently, they were quite strong to be able to push that door back... or was it lighter than it seemed?

The sounds of armored steps alerted the canine, to which he looked to his side to see another suit of armor approaching him, kneeling down on both knees and raising both hands that held up a... staff?

Erin hesitated, before picking up the staff, the shape of a serpent at its head, golden along its entire length. He examined it before placing it to his side on the ground. Turning his head to look at the still kneeling soldier, this time, the armored head was in the shape of a wolf.

The wolf grinned ear to ear. Having a devilish idea. He planted a bare foot right in front of the kneeled sentient armor. To which it looked up at his master.

"H-huh?" There was no clarity given to the soldier with this gesture, until the deity spoke.

"Kiss my foot." Erin demanded with a deep smirk.

The soldier hesitated for a moment, before speaking.

"A-ah, Your servants meant to take care of your form are m-more suited for that task sire, But, Far be it from me to disobey your command, My almighty lord. I... shall do my best."

The armored man took two hands and grabbed the golden wolf helmet and took it off, to reveal there was indeed an actual living being behind the armor. Making the wolf's eyes widen for a moment, the man had fair, beautiful red hair and auburn fur. Bright golden eyes similar to ones he saw from the original god form. The other wolf bowed, getting low and bringing his muzzle to that foot, kissing the top of its strong, beefy form.

"I-is that to your liking. My lord?" the wolf asked, looking back up at his deity.

"Very. Now... Um, back to your station." Erin spoke, noticing that the other wolf amongst his exposed neck had golden tattoos, not similar in exact shape and size, but in curve and appearance to the canine deity's own golden tattoos spread over his body.

"Sir. Yes, Sir!" The soldier responded, quickly placing his helmet back on and moving back to a corner of the hallway Erin was now in.

"Lucky..." another soldier whispered in the distance to the staff-handling knight, as Erin began stomping away, staff in hand, unable to hear the comment.

Erin grinned, Walking down the hall, amongst several other armored soldiers bowing down in reverence as he walked by, That grin only getting bigger and bigger.

He could get used to this.

Neal grumbled, Arms folded, riding in the backseat of a large truck. This time it didn't belong to the wolf, but instead the horse at its wheel.

A shuffle from the monkey beside him, and his eyes darted to see Gabe with arms crossed, not talkative, and head turned away from the deity's direction.

"Why couldn't I sit in the passenger seat? Wouldn't the lion fit back here better with how much he's wanted to come in contact with a 'spirit'?" Gabe asked.

"Do you have to be so grumpy, Gabe? C'mon, you're all over Erin usually and now you seem like you want to be as far away from him as possible!" Drew replied.

"I am *not* usually all over him! We're just good friends. And this just... doesn't feel right."

"Regardless of the simian's complaining. Tell me our destination." The deity demanded.

"We're going to one of Erin's favorite cafes in the area! It's still pretty early in the morning, and don't worry about being bored, we got the whole day planned since it's a weekend!"

"Delightful." Neal said with an eyeroll.

For Neal, he would rather this day be over with, he sees no point in giving attention and time to such odd tasks, especially with 'friends', where he would usually have servants.

The wolf couldn't wait to get out of the vehicle when the car stopped. Although all of the inhabitants had opened their doors and got out, Neal stayed. Waiting.

"Uhh, are you going to get out?" Drew asked, poking his head through the open driver's seat door.

"I am expected to open the door myself? How disrespectful can you be?" Neal responded.

"Just open the door for him, I seriously do not want to hear him whine..." Gabe's muffled and distant voice came from outside of the car.

However, the horse wouldn't budge, instead responding with something else.

"Listen man, sorry to burst your bubble but... you're not a 'god' here, at least, Let's say, Erin isn't. Ya gotta do your own stuff, ya know?"

"And yet, the door was open when I first entered this 'vehicle'. Why was that?"

"Well, I didn't think you would know how to open it!"

"And thus, surely you can deduce I do not know how to open it from the inside, either."

An agitated groan echoed from outside of the vehicle, it didn't come from the horse as his head was still slightly poked inside.

"Okay, just... give me a moment dude." Drew said, Walking around to the side opposite of Neal's, and putting himself partially inside of the vehicle.

"Ahem, uh... sorry." The equine apologized, The wolf feeling it a little awkward with the two's size, how Drew had to reach across Neal and show him how the door handle worked.

Though something peculiar crossed the deity's mind. He wasn't used to... other people in his vicinity being so close in size to him, though the horse didn't dwarf him completely in size, Even it being so close to Neal's own body striked the deity as interesting.

How many could come so close to his size, here?

With a click, the horse opened it with ease before slowly shutting it back and pulling back to give Neal space.

"Now, you do it."

Neal grumbled something in response to Drew. It wouldn't have been a pain to just open the door and leave it so the wolf could get out.

With reluctance, the canine eventually mimicked the horse's movements and push the door wide open with ease, afterwards stepping out of the vehicle and closing the door shut.

"Haha, there ya go!" Drew clapped.

Neal rolled his eyes and crossed his arms once more.

"Let us get a move on."

Erin hummed, and laid back inside of a gold-laced bathtub filled with bubbling, hot water, His entire body aside from head, hands, and dangling feet submerged inside of the soothing liquid.

One palm idly levitated a bright, blue, glowing orb. Bouncing it up and down by controlling its gravity with ease. The other hand had a rather heavy book inside of it, turned to some odd page that the canine was reading.

Meanwhile, other servants were at his feet, massaging them thoroughly and providing relaxation to their deity's naked soles. Another servant played music on a harp for the canine, and another, responsible for maintaining the spell that caused the water inside of the tub to continue bubbling.

He had learned a lot in quite a short span of time, it was a rather relaxing day. And with a curiosity to learn, the canine had fortunately found a historic 'journal' that belonged to the deity that he had fetched by some servants.

Erin had learned all about his 'duty' as a god, To keep and ensure the prosperity of his land. Making sure its province was protected from overly greedy use of the special properties both he and the land provided.

The blessed soil around the kingdom of the canine deity was said to give enhanced fertility, sexual prowess, and magical capabilities. The kingdom is most responsible for the reproduction of new life, the training, and embracement of sexuality, stamina, and lust, along with certain folk obtaining magic to make such tasks easier and to also maintain the health of the surrounding soil and assist the fellow man.

Commonfolk worshiped in order to receive the natural blessings of the land, and more devout and devoted worshippers after showing their true and undying faith were to be given more if they give offerings and receive the favor of their god.

Erin himself was not only responsible for this distribution of enhanced magic and sexuality, but also for expanding his empire to the furthest reaches of his planet and even other surrounding ones as he could.

As the head of the process, the canine learned that even with the rest and relaxation he had access to, rarely did he ever participate in such acts as much as he gave others the capability and opportunities to reproduce and engage in sexual activity as often as possible.

It was rare for the god to give himself up for sex.

Being busy with the affairs of the kingdom left much to be desired when it came to sexual activities.

However, with a hefty price and offering of either extreme amounts of gold, extraordinary levels of worship, or sufficient offerings, With a combination of any of these three along with a true, faultless desire to assist the land in its prosperity and long lastingness, one could find themselves granted the opportunity to embrace and indulge in the wolf's body as an ultimate test of those wishing to help ensure the land and its gifts can prosper.

Erin was deep inside of the journal for most of the day, reading about history, responsibilities, even a section that gave descriptions of potential magic, blessings, and spells that the deity crafted to help with his kingdom's purpose.

He could only imagine how long this place had prospered, how long it was held up for, how dedicated his other self truly was to the care of such a land.

He was given examples, of course, this being an essential combination of both a journal and a diary, The wolf saw the god's frustrations, along with his achievements, even failures, and pride as a leader, a commander, a God.

The canine had a new perspective, and even had a sense of remorse, and a great deal of pride just reading about all of the things inside of this book, he hummed to himself as he closed it after getting to a stopping point that satisfied him.

He thought about leadership, rulership, and responsibility. He could see himself suited for it... And the perks were amazing as is.

Placing the journal on the floor and snapping a special lock back onto it, Erin snapped two fingers. Three soldiers arrived to pick up the book and carry it back to the wolf's bed chambers.

The blue wolf leaned back inside of his hot tub and rested his eyes, feeling his body sink into the warm, bubbly water as he slowly drifted off to sleep for a nap.

Neal grunted, throwing another bowling ball down the lane, He had missed once more... only knocking down a few pins on the side.

"Dammit." Neal cursed.

"Ah, don't take it so seriously, it's not like we're in a competition, this is just for fun you know." Drew spoke.

"Ah, yes... for... fun." it was clear the deity was not familiar with such a thing.

"Yeah, something we're trying to get you to do. You need to loosen up a little, here." Gabe offered the canine a beer, to which he took it in hand, he learned about these cans earlier from conversations about his other half's favorite hobbies, activities and such.

After the cafe, experiencing different kinds of baked goods, as well as coffees and treats, the four had gone to get a big dinner, even went to a basketball court, before deciding to finish the night with bowling.

He cracked open the top before taking a few gulps, drinking it down with a sour face.

"Horrid taste." Neal remarked.

"The effect is nice, though." Jalen replied.

Neal snickered at that comment. "Ah yes, an unpleasant drink for a pleasant effect, I've noticed morta- ahem, humans tend to enjoy such things."

Funnily enough, the wolf found himself taking another gulp, as awful to the tastebuds the drink was to him, the tingle, and feeling the cool rush go down his warm, meaty chest had an oddly... satisfying effect.

"See? Already warming up to it, now, here you go." The simian brought up another bowling ball for Neal to hook his fingers into.

He took note of how Gabe's stance had changed, relaxed, unwavering, and comfortable. The four had gotten to know each other a little bit better over the course of the day, though mostly the deity learned more of mortal affairs and such. All of the things they did for fun, even the education system in which the deity had firmly disagreed with, not even seeing the purpose of its strenuous dedication and investment.

Though he was willing to realize that the two vastly different dimensions and systems made it to where he wouldn't necessarily agree with everything from the human's traditions, but regardless could enjoy some aspects of it.

He placed the drink down at their table and took another shot down the lane, this time with much less regard for if he successfully got a good goal or not.

Lo-and-behold, the bowling ball had directly struck down the middle and knocked all of the pins down with near expert ease.

Gabe, Drew, and Jalen all cheered, to which Neal's ears perked up at the sound and he turned around, eyes slightly widening to see the trio clapping for him.

He felt a sense of joy, pride, and... happiness. He held back a smile and just waved them off with a roll of his eyes and swiftly picked up the drink, downing another huge gulp, disappointed to recognize that after just one, there were only drops coming from the can.

Neal growled and tossed the bottle in the direction of a nearby trash can, before turning around to see another held out by Gabe.

"More. Yeah?"

"Tch." Neal looked off to the side, with a slight, repressed smirk and grabbed the can swiftly, avoiding eye contact and cracking the can open once more before taking more gulps.

He heard a light chuckle from the simian before they went back to continue their bowling for the night.

After their game session had ended, the four sat at a table, exchanging casual conversation. Talking about the day, And for the first time, Neal even smiled and chuckled at something, which made Gabe's eyes widen, along with the equine's, Jalen's face remained calm though, and he just gave a smile.

Gabe, after a few moments of being shocked, gave a huge, toothy grin to the canine.

"Is that the beer or are you really enjoying yourself...?" the simian asked, who was sitting close to Neal, nudging him with an arm teasingly.

The canine rolled his bright golden eyes and looked away, still with a smile. Not giving a response.

Drew however, stood up and threw himself to the side of Neal, hugging himself up to the beefy canine's right and squeezing him, wrapping his hands around him and shaking his larger body back and forth.

"CcmmmmmOOOONNN. ADMIT IIIIIIIIIIIIITTT"

The equine shook the wolf and shouted, The canine grunting and trying to push the horse off, a small grin still on his face, one palm to the side of Drew's muzzle, and the other on his chest attempting to shove the equine back, but to no avail.

Not only was this a testament to how strong the horse was himself, But to Neal's enjoyment as he was holding back a slight giggle here and there, so lightly annoyed the equine was being so pushy.

The simian could be heard laughing, as the oldest of the group, the lion, simply chuckled softly here and there, watching the spectacle.

This went on for a few more moments before the wolf tried a different approach on the horse attached to him like a leech.

Neal snaked a bulky, right arm underneath the horse's grasp and brought it around his waist, before connecting his left one with it and hugging Drew's hip line, the equine's grip softened and his eyes widened.

"Whoa whoa WHOA WHOA WAIT WAIT!!" Drew practically begged.

The wolf picked up the equine with a deep grunt, face level with Drew's abs. He was heavy as fuck, Neal's back straining to lift the massive horse, veins pulsed and visibly popped up on the surface of the wolf's arms.

The horse may be close to the canine in size, but the wolf was still bigger, even just slightly made enough of a difference.

With another loud grunt, he bearhugged Drew hard, suspending him in the air and shaking the equine left and right, growling all the while.

Drew shouted and yelled incoherently, legs and arms flailing about.

"Ah, finally, Neal's realized how much stronger he is than Drew." Jalen added before taking a shot glass of vodka down his throat.

Gabe chuckled and just put his chin in his hands, elbows resting on the table.

Neal continued his strong bearhug, all ten toes firmly planted on the ground from those huge feet carrying both the weight of the canine and the horse, thighs flexing, glutes straining, abs tensed into a thick eight-pack from the exertion of force, even those biceps were bulging, hard as iron and using their muscle to shake the horse to exhaustion.

Drew tapped out against the wolf's enormous back muscles and shouted.

"OKAY OKAY! I give I give! Sorry!" The equine apologized profusely.

Neal, being satisfied, had finally stopped the shaking, sweating as his titanic arm muscles flexed to slowly bring the horse back down to his feet, before letting go.

Drew tumbled and fell to the ground on his back from dizziness, groaning with his arms and legs spread on the floor.

The wolf grinned, sweat dripping down his form and staining his tank top on the sides of his armpit and beefy pecs. He gave a cocky, double-armed flex just to assert himself as the stronger man and winner of their very short, one-sided entanglement.

"So... you didn't answer my question from earlier..." Gabe continued. Eyes never once flickering to the groaning equine.

"Yeah, Being a 'mortal' for a day ain't so bad isn't it? We're not barraging you with the duties of governing an entire species, are we?" Jalen asked.

Neal grunted, crossing his arms and trying to regain his composure, massive chest still heaving up and down from heavy breathing due to his recent mini 'workout'.

"Hm... Perhaps in a slight manner I can see mortality having its upsides." The wolf spoke before crossing his arms. "I will give no further information."

"Well, technically we don't need any further information, just to hopefully and successfully do our job at showing you around in the life of being 'Erin Neal'."

The wolf did close his eyes to think for a moment. There was fulfillment in leadership for the deity, but on the other hand, This was something the canine could've never done in his own dimension.

He did not have 'friends', he had servants, worshippers. He did not have 'fun outings', He had royal treatments. And heaven forbid he attempt to become inebriated, not that he was at the moment, but the idea was intriguing to have this 'time off'.

No, the deity was always a god, always had the responsibilities of one, and while he had gotten used to it and taken to the title and duties well, He could see why a mortal would want to stay one.

The canine's thought process was cut off by Gabe suddenly speaking up.

"Ah, it is getting close to 12, so that means Erin will be coming back, right? Shouldn't we head home?"

The simian looked at his watch, before looking down at the ground, the trio hearing light snoring coming from the equine who was sleeping in his floored position.

The wolf gave a sigh before nodding.

And so, Erin lifted the horse and the three went out to get inside the truck, Drew snoring the entire time, being thrown into the backseat and buckled up before the canine would join right beside him.

"Um, do you have his keys, Jalen?" Gabe asked.

"Yeah, I'll drive us home, and I don't know how that... process will go, Neal, but hopefully it's not painful, I'm also unsure if you need to be asleep for it or something..." Jalen stated.

"It won't be painful, however it's much easier for it to happen with both being asleep. Seeing as how it's close to the time... I will try to rest, You'll be reunited with your friend likely by the time you have driven to his place of residence." Neal replied.

"Well, ahem, if I may, before you go, Not to be awkward but... It was nice showing you around. I won't apologize for not trusting you before Buuut with time to warm up to you, You're a lot less devious and mean than I thought at first. I'm not sure how this will affect the whole situation with you and Erin, but hopefully, it resolves well..."

"Gabe, Just give him the short version." The lion spoke.

The monkey groaned. "Fiiine. It was... nice meeting you, Neal." Gabe said, rubbing the back of his head before looking away.

"Hmph...." Neal grunted and folded his arms, as they slowly started to pull out of the parking lot.

"Likewise." Neal responded.

And with that they took off, The blue canine had looked at the time on his phone, realizing it was 11:50, hopefully, his other self had ample enough time to analyze his own dimension as well, or at least, a simulation of it.

The canine slowly fell to sleep during the ride home, and with enough time, the two sides of the same soul would swap places once more.
