Well this is my second entry into the story I've been working on and this part reveals a lot of background info about Takar and an important past relationship he was in before getting involved with Deren. If you have any suggestions for my next chapter then feel free to share your insight. :3 Hope everyone enjoys this, feedback is welcome.

The candle lights flickered on the table, shadows dancing around. A chandelier hung square in the middle of the luxurious restaurant. Crystals dangled from the sides of it, scattering light across the entire area, each shard a different color and texture from the last. The carpet was made of a fine material, the name of which eluded Takar. The place smelled of mixed scents: Spice, saffron, fuchsia, and others that combined into an almost sensual impact on the senses. They were having an effect on Takar and Deren from the moment they sat down. Dragons have powerful olfactory organs in their nasal cavities, providing a much heightened sense of smell. The various scents were setting the mood quite well. Both had each other on the mind. They had been dancing around a particular question for several weeks now. Both too shy to ask the other. Tonight things were very much different.

"Yes. I can handle what your about to ask." replied Takar, somewhat doubting his words. He shifted a bit in his chair, swaying his tail idly. He was nervous, eager, and expectant. He had been in a few relationships before he met Deren, none of them had even come close to being as amazing as the one he was in. All of his previous boyfriends were impatient with him, as he had never done more than oral before. He was waiting for someone special, one who could wait till he was ready. He was about ready to give up on waiting, and then he met Deren. It was like magic. Five months ago to this night, Takar had been dumped by his previous boyfriend Jonathon, a blue furred wolf with black stripes along his biceps and back. That had been the most serious relationship he had been in prior to his current one with Deren. He had almost given up his virginity to the smooth-talking wolf, which he had been dating for about two months. Takar had discussed his fears about his first time with Jonathon, who just shrugged and told him to stop worrying. Jonathon was not very romantic, nor attentive. His focus always seemed to be elsewhere, on someone else. Takar discovered who that someone was not too long after he had been having suspicions. Jonathon wouldn't answer calls for several days at a time; he would only call when he wasn't "busy". The young dragon became very worried that he was being lied to and ignored. His fears would be alleviated slightly whenever Jonathon would call to schedule a date. The wolf would pick Takar up and they would go someplace to eat, then afterwards usually head back to where Jonathon lived. Most of the time Takar would try and snuggle up to him, but Jonathon almost always tried to turn it into sex. Takar wanted his first time to be special, not rushed into just for the sake of getting off. Jonathon's attitude greatly upset him, leading to him believing that the wolf only desired him for his girlish figure. He was a very sensitive person, only wanting to please his boyfriend. Jonathon was borderline abusive, often throwing things across the room when Takar refused anything beyond oral or a hand job. One time he accidentally hit the dragon in his side with a small vase, causing him to double over in pain and begin sobbing. This was one of the few times that Takar saw the wolf show a large amount of concern for his well-being. He bandaged the area and stayed with Takar all night, leaving late in the afternoon the next day. The young dragon still had fond memories of that night, as it was something he hadn't expected. He was also filled with a lot of pain from those who had broken his heart. His most crushing memory was that of walking in on Jonathon when he was with his other lover.

It was an ordinary day; Takar was driving to the small apartment complex where Jonathon lived. He wanted to surprise the wolf, showing up unexpectedly and going out to eat. Today was the day that the dragon decided he wanted to lose his virginity. He and Jonathan had talked about it in-depth the night before for several hours. Jonathan reassured Takar that he would be gentle and make sure they both enjoyed themselves. The way he spoke was so alluring to the dragon, such charm and concern in his voice. They both cuddled close that night, keeping each other warm. Jonathan's personality had changed within the last week. He was no longer abusive or cold. He paid more attention to Takar, taking him to landmarks, malls, and restaurants. Takar had a strong love growing in his heart for the wolf, something he had confessed just last night. When he told Jonathan of his feelings he smiled and told Takar that he loved him as well. Those few words made Takar break down into tears. He was now almost certain that he had found a relationship that would actually last. As he would soon find out, that was not the case this time.

The day was rather dreary, with rain constantly hammering onto the roof of his car. The windows were covered in water despite the wipers being active. Takar had to squint just to see anything. Heavy dark clouds had gathered overhead, creating little visibility due to the onslaught of rain. Takar loved days like this, they were great to just stay inside and snuggle up with someone special. In the seat next to him was a bouquet of blue roses and different assorted candies in a small circular box. Cliché he thought, but tried and true. Jonathan was the one initiating most of the romance lately, so Takar thought it'd never hurt for him to try. Next to the flowers and sweets was a small bag containing blueberry scented lube. He wanted to be perfectly comfortable his first time, and Jonathan's member was about seven inches long. He was sure he'd be able to handle the length with little trouble; it was Jonathon's sizeable knot that was worrisome. His heart beat faster as he came closer to the wolf's apartment, anticipating how the night would play out.

Takar was dressed to impress. Tonight's apparel choice had him flaunting his feminine form. He wore a sleeveless purple shirt made of cotton, with one heart over where the navel would be and one near his hips on the back. For pants he wore tight, black jeans which showed off all his curves. He even added a few accessories to his tail, in the form of two pink bands wrapped around near the tailbase. He added a red, glittering nail polish to all his claws, completing the "girly" appearance. He paid special attention to make sure he carried a pleasant scent around him so he opted to go for a mixed perfume. This particular brand had the scents of lavender, peaches, and subtle hints of vanilla. He sprayed it liberally over himself after he had showered today, absolutely loving the amazing smell. He was ready to blow his boyfriend's mind. He was completely confident that every aspect of himself would drive Jonathon wild. All the attention that Jonathan had been giving him was slowly repairing all the damage dealt by the other failed relationships, but Takar was still very paranoid. Some things do not heal, even with time.

A flash of lightning startled the driving dragon, causing him to weave slightly before steering back in a straight path. He saw several more flashes in the distance, many obscured by sizeable buildings. He came to a red light, now he was three blocks away from Jonathan's apartment. He smiled as he heard the heavy patter of rain on the hood of his vehicle, the falling water having a relaxing effect on him. He closed his eyes for a few moments, enjoying the sounds from outside. A sudden honking sound shook him back to reality, opening his eyes to see the light had turned green. He accelerated at a steady pace, already imagining himself in Jonathan's arms.

Takar pulled into the parking lot a few minutes later, searching for an empty space. Since the weather was a tad dreadful today, many people had decided to stay home and keep warm inside. Takar found a nice little spot two spaces away from Jonathan's blue Taurus. He collected his things as best he could, taking an umbrella in one hand. He exited his black car and began walking at a moderate pace towards the building's main double doors. He noticed another dragon standing outside without any cover. He was smiling and leaning back against the brick wall next to the doors. Takar gave him a quick glance.

"Quite a lovely day it is", said the orange dragon. His ear frills dripping from the rain, horns protruding down the sides of his neck. Lighter orange scales ran up the underside of his neck, his plain red shirt and khakis soaked in the water. He looked like someone without a care in the world.

"Indeed it is, rain is always welcome in my book." said Takar as he smiled and walked past the stranger, happy that someone else was enjoying the bleak day. He gripped the polished silver handles and pushed one of the doors open, immediately being greeted by a wave of warmth and mixed scents from the interior lobby. He squinted his eyes a bit, the lights above glowing more brightly than anything he had seen today. His vision readjusted to the change and he looked around the room, seeing several people sitting around and conversing lazily. He wiped some water off of his clothes and slowly walked towards a nearby elevator, folding up his dripping umbrella. A few heads turned in his direction.

"Now there's a twink." said a slightly muscular feline sitting on a blue couch, his eyes tracking Takar.

"I would love to fuck the hell out of that tight body." responded one of the feline's friends, a Doberman sitting in a black leather chair, a magazine in his hands.

"I wish my boyfriend would work out a bit more, at least try and look like this cute dragon that just walked by." said a female iguana, talking on her cell-phone.

Takar frowned, he wasn't too happy with how fixated on sex society was. Setting standards to insane heights, superficiality taking hold of all but a few. Earlier in their relationship, Takar was afraid that Jonathan was only with him because of his body. Now that time had passed, the hopeful dragon was more confident that they had a deeper connection.

Takar pressed the downward arrow button on the circuit panel, checking his watch for the time. It was 4:03 PM, exactly three hours and fifty seven minutes earlier than when Jonathan told Takar to arrive. Since this was a special day he wanted to come early and surprise the wolf with what he was wearing. He listened to the loud ping of the elevator lowering floor by floor, the slow thing only at floor eight. Takar leaned against the wall, swaying his tail idly. He looked around the lobby and took note of some changes that had been made since the last time he had been there: A few cracked floor tiles were replaced, the peeling paint on one wall was freshly coated with a replacement, a new couch had taken the place of one that was previously torn apart due to a drug search. Progress and improvement were two things that were impossible to stop, only halted for a certain extent. Takar would come to realize this when his life looked its bleakest.

The final ding sounded and the twin metal doors opened, revealing no one to be inside. Takar stepped in and pressed the button for floor seven. Examining his form in the glass wall of the elevator. He frowned a bit, always a critic of his physical form. He checked his clothing for any discolorations, finding none. He spent a few more moments examining his bag to make sure he hadn't forgotten anything. Each little ping of the elevator made his heart beat faster and his breathing quicken. He watched as the numbers went by slowly, eyes fixated on the sign above. He gulped nervously as the ping sounded a seventh time. The doors opened and he crept out, extremely on edge. He walked down the hallway slowly, teeth grinding a bit. He was looking for room 247, located near the end of the hall on the right side. When he neared the room he noticed a pair of red striped boxers lying in front of Jonathan's door. He quickened his pace and still very nervous. It seemed like forever until he arrived at his boyfriend's room, staring down at the discarded undergarments.

"Maybe he dropped some of his laundry?" thought Takar to himself, not paying it anymore mind. He took out the spare keys that Jonathan had given him, inserted them, turned the knob as quietly as possible, and entered. He noticed an unfamiliar scent as he walked in, it was not Jonathan's.

Takar was about to find that some people, no matter how much they say they love you, can change into a totally different person in the blink of an eye.
