Spirit and the Little Merman Part 4
So, after some time of driving, they arrived and introduced Nigel to Dusk. The sea lion was full of “Awwwws". Just then, the Sea King appeared before them. "Dad?" he asked surprised.
Spirit froze in shock as he stared at the king.
"Dad... I'm sorry I made you worry so much," said Como, "It's just that I've fallen in love with the most amazing stallion that anyone could ever know and we now have a child who we can love, but... There's an eel who's going to take him away if we don't guess his name within three days.”
The King gave a stern look but it slowly softened and he calmed down. "I understand son, I've come to meet my grandson...that eel we'll worry about as well.”
Como smiled and showed Dusk to the sea king. Jazz and Kelpi appeared next to them and Jazz smiled. "Awww... He's so cute," he said looking at the small foal in Como's arms.
The sea king then looked at Spirit who stood silently. "I will do what I can but we must protect my grandson.”
"You said we had three days to guess his name?" asked Kelpi. Como nodded. "He'll probably come to you to ask you to guess it.”
"Yes, and we can lay a trap.”
"But in the mean time, you'd better guess his name while me and Jazz try to find out where that eel is hiding," said Nigel.
The king nodded. "For now rest and be happy." He then hugged his son and left.
Como smiled. "Come on, Spirit," he said, "Let's go show Jamie his new baby brother.”
Spirit nodded and drove them home smiling happily.
Como held Dusk in his arms as he and Spirit stepped inside. It was late and Dawn was reading Jamie a bedtime story. When they looked up, they gasped. Dawn walked up with tears in her eyes. "Oh, I never thought I'd live to see this day," she said standing up with her hands over her mouth.
Jamie rushed over bouncing up and down. "Oh is it a little brother for me?!”
"Yes, he is," said Como smiling kneeling down and showing him to Jamie, "His name's Dusk.”
"Aww he's so cute." Jamie giggled and leaned in close to his younger brother.
The little foal looked up at the young colt and burbled as he tried to reach for Jamie. "You want to hold him?" asked Como.
"Can I really?" He grinned and Spirit smiles nodded as he had Jamie sit on the couch.
Como walked over and carefully offered the foal to Jamie and caressed Dusk. "Say 'hi' Dusk," he said smiling as he kissed the top of Jamie's head.
Jamie giggles and held his brother. "Hi Dusk .”

Como smiled. But then frowned as he had sad tears in his eyes. He looked to Spirit hoping he would explain things to Dawn. "By the way," she said, "I called Dr. Cherry and they said something about some eel coming to you. What happened?”
"I'll tell you about it mom." Spirit then took his mother to the other room and told her everything.
"What?" gasped Dawn surprised. Como looked to the door and sighed. "Uh... Jamie... There's something I have to tell you... About where I come from," he said nervously as he stroked Dusk's head.
"Really? What is it?" Jamie asked.
"Do you remember how you, your dad and grandma found me on the beach when we first met?" asked Como, "Well, I live in the ocean... I'm a merman.”
“You're a merman?" He gasped his jaw dropping.
Como nodded his head. "Yes... That's why your father smelled like fish last night," he said blushing, "You're.... You're not mad are you?”
"Not really, but does that mean Dusk is part merman?”

Two days went by and Como had no luck. But on the second night, both Jazz and Kelpi were swimming around a lonely part of the ocean when they saw a bright magenta glow from a hole in a rock formation. They peered through and saw the eel. "Time's almost out," he chuckled as he swam around a cauldron and was chanting, "Tonight I'll brew and then I'll bake. Tomorrow I'll have Como's child take! No one knows, oh what a shame, that Rumpelstiltskin is my name!" Jazz and Kelpi gasped in silence as they swam away.
On the third morning Spirit was holding Dusk tightly as he didn't plan on letting his son go without a fight.
Nigel lumbered up and Como went over to him and he smiled just as the eel appeared before the merman and his mate along with their child in Como's arms. "Is it, Peter?" Como asked. "Tried that one already and the answer's still no," the eel said crossing his arms and smiling. "Is it Basil? Herb? Rosemary?" Como asked. "Sounds like a recipe," the eel chuckled. Then Como winked at Spirit and said, "Could your name by any chance be... Rumplestiltskin?" The eel went wide eyed and his mouth hung open. "THAT IS NOT FAIR! HOW DID YOU FIND OUT!" he roared angrily.
Spirit chuckled. "Now we can't go revealing that. But we guessed right so our child stays with us.”
The eel growled as he stomped his foot, but then the earth split open beneath him and the eel fell through never to be seen again as the earth closed back up again. Como looked to Spirit and then at Dusk smiling.
Spirit grinned and hugged his husband and son as well as Jamie who was with them.
"We're free," he said hugging Spirit, "And we get to keep Dusk." He knelt down to Jamie's level and hugged the foal.
Jamie happily returned the hug. "Yay my brother stays!" From the water came Comos father who smiled proudly at them. He then noticed Dawn and smirked at his son. "So who's the beautiful angel over there?”
"I'm Spirit's mother, sir," said the old mare blushing.
"I'm Como's father." He said holding his hand out.
Dawn came up to him. "It's a pleasure sir," she said. "Dad? Have you fallen for a land dweller?" asked Como with a playful smirk.
"Hey Como why don't you go and focus on your family." He teased as he kissed her hand. Spirit chuckled. "Let's leave these two alone." He said and began heading up the beach with his mate and sons.
"Who would've thought my father would rub off from me?" chuckled Como.
"Hehe well my mother is a very beautiful mare, maybe he's just never seen one before.”
"Indeed," said Como smiling. Dawn was blushing. "I'm honored to meet you, your highness," she said curtseying.
"As am I." The king bowed grinning at her.
"But, why so interest in me?" she asked, "Especially at my age.”
"My dear compared to me, you are very young." He chuckled and sat down on the beach using some of his own magic to give him legs.
The mare smiled. "It's been years since I've actually seen anyone. I'd given up hope since my husband passed away," she said with a soft sigh.
"I don't know why anyone wouldn't want you. Your beautiful, and you raised a fine son like Spirit to take care of my boy." He smiled and gently cupped her cheek in his strong hand.
"Yes, and it's nice to see my son happy. He hasn't been the same since Rain died... May she rest in peace," she said, "But at least Jamie is very fond of Como.”
He nodded smiling happily as he watched the family walk away. “Tell me, do you swim?" He asked.
“Are clothes a requirement?” she asked softly as she stepped closer to the tall, muscular human.

Dusk was sitting on the beach looking out at the water. "Jamie said he was coming home from college soon," he said, "But where is he?" "Don't worry," said Nigel, "I'm sure he'll be here before you know it.”
