“Of all the places my boat could break down, it had to be right in the middle of the Whirl Islands…” Leo muttered to himself, stepping out onto solid ground as he took a look over the engine of his boat. Most of the small scattered islands were barren patches of land, but it seemed that he landed on one which had something to explore, and from the sheer size of the entrance, he could only guess that it must be home to a very large Pokémon - all he could do on that front was hope that he didn’t encounter it, given his current situation.

Grabbing his backpack from the boat, he made his way cautiously towards the cave, taking a good look around as he stepped into it, stepping carefully so as to not make too much of a sound. The cavern appeared to be well lit, which was odd, considering its location, though given the occasional rays of light were seeping through cracks and crevices in the wall, it didn’t seem too weird..

“I wonder if any trainers actually stop here to catch Pokémon?” Leo pondered - the areas around the island were teeming with an abundance of Water-types, but if any of the other islands had caverns, surely they’d feature more typical land-dwelling Pokémon… that or they’d just be full of Zubat and Geodude, or anything that loved using Self-Destruct or Explosion to deal massive damage. He always wondered how none of the caves in other areas ever collapsed due to the number of Graveller or Golem using said move.

The path seemed to go on for quite some while - with all the twists and turns, he was beginning to wonder if he was walking around in a circle, but the sound of water trickling past him assured him that he was on the right track, wherever he was heading. A steady stream of water flowed down the pathway, seeping in from a set of holes in the wall, not large enough for anything to be able to fit through without destroying it and risking a flood.

“You’d think with a stream like that, something was living inside here…” Leo couldn’t help but comment on the uniqueness of the layout, following the stream. Eventually, it led him down to a large body of water surrounded by jagged rocks and flat surfaces. The body of water itself looked like it could be full of different types of Pokémon, but to his surprise, it was only resident to one such creature, and unfortunately for him, it was on the large side of things.

“You have GOT to be kidding me…” He silently gawked as he gazed across at the Lugia that was resting, half submerged in the water, upper body sprawled out against the rocks, its broad wings spread out as if it were reclining. The draconic beast didn’t seem to notice Leo’s presence, at least, not initially. “A Lugia, all the way out here?” He cursed the fact that he didn’t have any Pokémon with him - he would have made an attempt to battle and capture it if he had, but he had a feeling that even with his Pokémon, Lugia might utterly trounce him.

“I better make my way out of here before it looks my way!” He turned around, preparing to make an exit, but as he did, his foot caught against a loose rock, kicking it aside. He stopped in his place as the Lugia sprung its head upwards, looking over to the path.

“Hrm? A visitor?” It spoke in a soft, feminine voice, catching sight of Leo. “This is a surprise!”

“Hoo boy…” He gulped, spinning around to face Lugia.

“What brings you to my lair?” She asked, beckoning him closer to her.

“Nothing sinister - my boat broke down in the middle of all the whirlpools out here, and I’ve got no way of calling for help at the moment. I don’t suppose you’d be willing to offer me a lift back to the nearest town?”

“I suppose I could… but wouldn’t you like to spend a little time here with me? I mean we’ve only just met, after all” The creature began to emerge from the pool of water as Leo walked down towards her. To his surprise, the Lugia was much larger than he was expecting - he had only seen photos of one before, and whilst there were objects and landmarks nearby in those images that showed the scale of the creature, this one had a good few extra feet on her.

“I mean, I do live here!” She shrugged to the best of her abilities. “Technically the entire Whirl Islands are my home, but this little nook here is my adobe.”

“Right… and no other Pokémon roam about here?”

“Not all the time, no. It does get a little quiet sometimes, which is kinda sad in that aspect. However, you’ve stumbled upon my lair, and I honestly can’t recall the last time a human found their way here, so I feel like I should reward you for that feat alone!”

“Reward me? For finding a Lugia?” He asked, quizically. “Couldn’t I just take a photograph of you and say to my friends ‘look what Pokémon I found!’? I don’t have any of my Pokémon on me to do battle with!”

“Heh… I mean, you could take a photo of me if you wanted, but it wasn’t what I had in mind…” She spoke slyly, moving in closer. “As I said, it’s rare that I have some company… and there are very few Pokémon that are the right size to satiate my needs~”

“Your nee… wait, you realize I’m human, right?” Leo gulped.

“Yes, that detail is hard to overlook, but it can be fixed…” She looked at the short, slightly squat human. “It’s a simple task for me to be able to convert a human into a suitable companion to help me out~”

“You’ve… lost me…” He blinked.

“Do I need to spell this out? I’m going to turn you into a Lugia like myself so we can have some fun~” She grinned.

“You’re… wha?” He had to tilt his head upwards as she moved in closer still.

“It’s a fairly simple trick, in all honesty - there are very few Pokémon who are able to do it, granted, most of them are legendaries, but still~”

“How… how would you even be able to do that? It seems physically impossible to turn a human into something else!”

“I guess you’ll get to find that out first hand then!” She chirped. “I wouldn’t worry about it too much, you’ll enjoy how it feels!”

“How it feels? I imagine it’d probably hurt a lot!” Leo gulped.

“Oh not at all, that would really depend on the mind and temperament of the Pokémon using the ability. In my hands… well, wings, I’m sure you’ll love every second of it!”

“And I’m gonna guess I don’t really have a say in this otherwise, right?”

“Not really, no, but you’re assuming the worst. Just trust me on this one, if at any point you don’t like what’s happening, I’ll stop what I’m doing and return you to normal, does that sound fair?” She offered, even though she was lying through her teeth - there wasn’t any way to reverse it that he knew of, but she assumed that he wouldn’t complain if he really didn’t like what was going on.

“I… suppose…” He wasn’t fully onboard with her idea, but he felt it was better to humor the giant monster than risk getting on her bad side. “Just do what needs to be done.”

“Heh, you could sound a little more enthusiastic about it, but I’ll take what I can get!” She laughed, standing beside Leo, resting the tip of one broad finger on his shoulder. “Now, let’s see if I can remember how to do this…” She cleared her throat, making a few strange sounds before crooning in a low, mysterious tone. “Not that different, honestly…” He looked at her.

“What’s that?” Leo asked, surprised by the noise. He looked down at his belly, and to his surprise, he noticed that it appeared to be a little larger than it was before, his shirt starting to ride up against it. Not only that, but he could see what appeared to be light blue feathers sprouting across his stomach. “What the?”

“It looks like it’s working!” The Lugia giggled, the gurgling continuing, his belly expanding further, sagging outwards as his top rolled further up along it, no longer able to contain his growing girth.
