Chapter One: Relinquishing of a Former Self

He stood looking at the reflection of the orange fox in the mirror as he groomed his hair back and ran the gel through. The remains of the leftover gel was rubbed into the towel hung on the door closed behind him. He was your average every day fox who went to the extremes to make himself presentable. He would spend countless minutes locked inside his room or the bathroom, in front of the mirror, taming every part of his body until he passed his own inspection. He cared what everyone thought of him even though he tried not to. He didn't want to be just a regular nobody like he was for so many years on end. He wanted to be known by everyone, he wanted everyone to know who Kit Tilmett was.

He turned himself around in the mirror looking at every part of his body. He used his paws to fluff out his orange tail as well as the blackened tip of it. He then flashed a smile at himself and unlocked the door. He pranced about the house making his last minute preparations before going into his classes. He swung the door to his closet open and ran his paws past his numerous shirts trying to find one. He strangely picked out something that he would never really wear, especially to school. It was a gray shirt with an advertisement of a party that was held at the local Mexican restaurant, Los Maximos. He wore this with a pair of frayed blue jean shorts. After realizing the time, he kissed his parents goodbye and darted to his car. His next stop would be Raven's house. Raven was not however a bird, but a panda. She was a junior just like him, but was unable to drive. As he was driving he caught a whiff of a familiar scent, Kawazu's cologne. Leaning his head toward the side, he sniffed his sleeve and his mind became filled with pictures of his mate. The shirt he was wearing was Kawazu's. It was Cinco de Mayo night at Los Maximos and the two lovers were having a dinner date that night. Kawazu was dancing along with Kit in the crowd of sweat drenched people. A half drunk wolf bumped into him and spilled his beer all over his shirt. Kit bought him a shirt from the restaurant to change into. Kawazu drove him home and ended up spending the night with him. He forgot the shirt at his house. He loved everything about the raccoon, Kawazu. The raccoon attended another school about ten minutes away from his.

His tires screeched as he pulled into her gloomy driveway. It was shadowed by multiple aged trees seeming to be from Civil War days. Some were weeping willows and some were regular pine trees. The driveway had many cracks in it due to the roots from the towering trees. The panda was still getting ready when Kit came inside.

"They're in my closet near the back." Raven said as she continued to lace up her boots. He then walked into her closet and was taken back with the wide array of clothes that belonged to her. He worked his way to the back until he found what was his. It was a pair of bondage pants that he bought from the mall as well as a black shirt that had the Japanese kanji for fox written across the center of it.

He draped the clothes on the bathroom counter as he disclosed himself in the bathroom. He removed his glasses from his face and gently laid the black frames apart from his clothes on the counter. Bringing his paws down to the bottom of his shirt, he slid them upwards along his body frame and past his ears until the shirt was removed. He shook his head and his hair fixed back into place. His removed his black spike collar from his pocket as he unbuttoned his shorts and slid them off. He glanced up slightly in direction of the mirror as he fastened the collar into place around his neck. He felt a sudden change in his mood as he felt this unexpected rush. Kit then looked into the eyes of the fox staring back at him, feeling this sudden rush of confidence. With this new character change he slid into his pants and buttoned them.

"You're taking too long in there Kit!" Raven then burst into the door and raised her eyebrow at the shirtless kitsune. "Nice change Mr. Tilmett. I was wondering when the real you would show up." He cocked his head and let out a giggle as he put on his shirt and slid his glasses back on his face.

The two furs walked through the doors of Tolkan High ready to begin a new day. The high school was located in the downtown district and was formally a prestigious school for the gifted youth. It was of course considered to be a hellhole because of the strictness of rules and regulations that were hammered upon the student body. The piles of homework and endless hours of studying did not help either. The school soon suffered a major decline in student attendance after the first 2 years being opened. The students were fed up with everything and burnt out. The students took part in a school bashing, in which they defaced the entire school. The school closed down soon after. Four years ago it was reopened as a regular high school. Kit's brother, Starker, was a member of the 2004 graduating class that graduated but unfortunately he dropped out and pursued love instead of studies. He always looked after his younger brother and always did things that would suit Kit's best interest. Especially his mates. His older brother would always have to approve of his mates. Kawazu was one of his favorites. Starker left home and moved in with his mate last November after a big fight with their parents. They practically disowned him because of all the bad decisions he made in his life. The Tilmett's did not want to be associated with failures.

"Kitty!" Two arms reached around his waist and clasped around his stomach. A face then rubbed up against his back as the stranger's tail wrapped around his leg. Kit turned his head around in suspicion. And found a pair of blue eyes that could only belong to one fur, Blaze. She was a rather attractive female leopard whose blue eyes were extremely tantalizing. She always expressed her attraction for Kit with her numerous touches and glances which were much to his dislike.

He closed his eyes and sighed and as a result Blaze released her grip. "Just can't help it, I'm sorry." Kit smiled and scratched her behind the ears as he sat down in the center of their group of friends, waiting for the day to end. Waiting for Kawazu to come. Waiting for his love to be restored.

Second period Chemistry was always a bore and one of the down points of his day. He was surrounded by a group of rich furs who seemed to talk of nothing except for rumors and gossip. The vixens were always giggling to one another or primping themselves in front of a compact mirror. The 9:45 bell finally rang and ended the class. Kit awoke from his nap and wiped his eyes trying to regain his vision. He yawned as he looked around at his classmates quickly departing from the room. With his paws gently closing his binder and textbook he arose from his desk and put his book bag on his shoulders. One of the jocks of the class ran into him purposefully and caused his literature novel to drop on the ground. Irritated, he crouched down to retrieve it but was too late. A white paw had already grabbed it and was handing it to the fox. His eyes looked up to meet Flame's eyes. He froze still as he realized who it was. He was also a fox like Kit but his track record with relationships and vixens of the school was quite known. He thanked him with a smile and continued packing away his things until he felt Flame's rredpaw stroke against his tail.
