Pokemon The Windshifter-Chapter 2
#3 of Pokemon-The Windshifter-
Wow. Has it already been 10 months? I'm deeply sorry for the wait time on this. The sad thing is that there is absolutely no reason that this took so long. Anyways. Enjoy
I awoke from the floor of the pokemon centre. The blinding morning light from outside was shining through the glass windows making me squint when I looked at it. We had gotten out of Eterna forest and into Eterna city the night before. It was day 3 since I first met Cyrus. He was actually a pretty nice guy, but it was a big adjustment for me.
I stood up and stretched; tilting my neck to the side until it lightly cracked. I sighed and looked over to Cyrus. He was covered up to his neck in a blue blanket, slightly snoring. Blaze and Leviathan were on either side of him, while Phoenix was sleeping by his feet. They always slept together, but I liked to keep my distance. Yesterday he had promised to train me. I was fairly excited; since I hadn't had a real battle for about 2 months...right before Jake decided I was of no use to him. The more I thought about Jake the angrier I was with him. Cyrus wasn't as good as a trainer as Jake was; but he was a much better person. We weren't just tools to him. He actually cared for our well being.
Over those 2 months, the only battling I had been doing was taking my anger out on wild Starly's, Bidoof's and whatever else was unlucky enough to cross my path.
I had no idea what Cyrus had in store for me. I was sure it would be very different from Jake's training exercise. He would let all of us out at once to have a huge battle royal. The last 3 standing got extra food that night. As fun as that was, it wouldn't work with only the four of us; and I was pretty sure that even if there were more of us, Cyrus wouldn't approve of it.
I walked over to Cyrus and gently nudged his arm with my nose. He groaned and stirred, but didn't wake up. I nudged him again, slightly harder this time.
"Cyrus," I said softly, "wake up"
I knew he couldn't understand what I was saying, but that didn't mean that he couldn't hear me.
Cyrus groaned again and opened his eyes. He brought his wrist in front of his eyes, checking his watch. He sat up and rubbed the sleep out of his eyes. He then looked over at me.
"Good morning" He said
"Morning" I replied
Cyrus woke up Blaze, Leviathan and Phoenix one at a time and started to lead us to the food court.
"So; you excited?"
"What?" I said,
I looked to my side and saw Blaze walking next to me. It was weird, because since Cyrus caught me, he hadn't said a word to me, but I decided to go with it.
"Are you excited for the training?" He clarified
"Oh" I said "Yeah, I guess, but what'll I be doing?"
"Well" He said "If he's doing the same thing to you as he did to me, he'll simply take you out and learn what skills you know, strengths and weakness. Stuff like that"
I nodded slowly.
"Seems logical" I said
"Don't worry" he said "He doesn't expect much from you"
I simply chuckled at that
"And what's that supposed to mean?" I asked
"Well..." he started
"Choose your words carefully" I said jokingly
"I didn't mean it like that. He never expected much from me when we first met...But he probably expects even less from you" he added with a smirk
"I was in the league" I said
His eyes widened for a second
"The...Pokemon league?"
I simply nodded. His expression changed instantly and chuckled softly
"Yeah" he said "And I like to swim"
I couldn't help but smile at his remark. It was a well known fact that all fire types hated to get wet in any way, shape or form.
"I'm not lying" I informed him
"Well, I sure was" he said
"Maybe you'll believe me after you see me battle"
"Possibly" he said "Or maybe..."
"You're going to battle him?"
I looked to my right to see Leviathan walking beside me.
"Well yes" I said "That was the plan"
"You meant you and me battle?" Blaze asked
I nodded
"Umm, I can't"
"Why not?" I asked
"I've got a type advantage"
"And?" I asked
"Cyrus wouldn't allow it" said Leviathan
"Are you serious?"
"It's just because you're new" said Blaze
"Yeah" said Leviathan, "Cyrus will probably make you and me battle later"
"I look forward to that" I told him, smiling.
I stood on our makeshift battlefield in Eterna Forest, staring at my foe, Leviathan, waiting for my trainer to give me a command. It was around 6:00 in the evening. For the past hours Cyrus was just instructing me to use certain moves, much like Blaze had predicted. I knew that it had helped Cyrus understand my potential, but I was glad that it was over.
I closed my eyes waiting for Cyrus to tell me when to go. I had to stop thinking, and trust Cyrus. We needed to become one. I knew that as I got to know him more I would be able to anticipate what he'll want me to do, but it all started with the first battle.
"Remember" yelled Cyrus to Leviathan, "This is a standard tag battle. Three hits and you're done"
"I know, I know" he yelled back
"Are you ready?" asked Cyrus
I nodded and opened my eyes.
"It all starts with one battle" I whispered to myself
I bent my knees, getting into a battle position. My heart was starting to beat faster as I waited for my command to start.
"Go!"
Leviathan wasted no time. Leaves shot out from the pedals of his neck and hurtled towards me.
Razor Leaf I thought to myself
I stayed put, denying my instincts, waiting for my command.
"Dodge and use quick attack" Cyrus yelled
I hesitated. Why quick attack? I shook my head and followed his orders. I jumped to the left, avoiding one of the leaves, and then quickly ducked as another one went over my head. I ran forward and jump over another and then tried to jump to the right, to avoid the final one, but I was too slow. I winced slightly as the leaf made a small cut down my side, but it wasn't enough to slow me down.
"One-nothing" Yelled Blaze, who was keeping score.
"Damn it, I'm faster than this" I told myself
I followed the second part of my command and started to run towards Leviathan. As I moved forwards I darted left and right, trying to confuse him. I jump towards him at the last moment; ready to slam him with my shoulder, but at the last second he stepped to the side and swung a vine at my face. I was going too fast to stop and ran into it. It felt like someone had taken burning metal and placed it on my face. I snarled; tempted to blast him with a Hyper Beam, but I held back.
"That's Two-nothing" Blaze yelled "One more hit and you're done Crystal"
I grunted, took a few steps back and waited for my next command. I watched as Leviathan powered an Energy Ball.
"Power up your Iron Tail"
I nodded. As I charged my Iron Tail, I secretly powered Icy Wind. Leviathan's Energy Ball was almost fully charged.
"Use Iron Tail now" Cyrus barked
"Not yet" I whispered, more to myself
Leviathan saw his opening and launched the Energy Ball. I jumped over it and flipped around in mid air; hitting him with my Iron Tail. I smiled as I felt the shot connect. Leviathan stumbled back, and before he could recover from the shot I used Icy Wind. He wildly flailed his arms as he was lifted off of the ground. I had the opportunity to end this and used ice shard. The fragment of ice hit him in the chest before he landed on his back. He looked around with a confused look on his face.
I knew I should have let Cyrus tell me what to do; but this worked better.
"I win" I said "Three to two"
