A/N: Well since everyone has been so nice and has asked nicely, I have decided not to be evil and post the next two chapters of Snow Bunny for ya'll. So enjoy.

Chapter 17

Kadell sprinted across the snow covered ice of the lake. He could hear the frantic scratching and almost feel vibrations from the thuds of a fist as well as he could hear them. His heart was racing, thudding painfully against his chest. His lungs hurt from breathing so heavily.

But everything seemed to stop when the thuds and scrapping did.

"LIO!"

He slid to a stop, falling to his side so that he could see through the ice better. He tried to sense him, tried to hear something.

A flash of color passed him.

Sharp claws sliced into ice as he skidded to a stop.

He scrambled over to where he could see the cat demon through the ice. The wolf whimpered as the blurred image sunk down, motionless.

"LIOLYN!"

Punched the ice but it did little good.

He punched again, ignoring the searing pain. But this time he heard small cracks of ice.

He roared punching again but this time the crack he heard was more than ice. Kadell let out a silent scream of pain as his cupped his hand, two knuckled fractured.

Silver eyes opened to looked desperately at the fading colors of the cat demon.

He punched with his left hand but it did little effect.

He stood and stomped down as hard as he could and heard the satisfying crackle he was looking for. He stomped for a second time before deciding it wasn't going fast enough.

Kadell took five steps back before flipping, using his left hand for leverage, and slamming his heel into the ice.

It gave and the wolf demon crashed into the water.

It felt like a thousand knives sliced into him and he almost yelled but he remembered what he had to do. He swam down, grabbing the motionless cat demon and dragging him to the surface.

He gasped, sucking in air as he met painfully cold air. Kadell growled, heaving Liolyn's limp body onto the ice before dragging himself out of the water.

"Liolyn!"

The cat was unnaturally pale, his lips purple, and Kadell felt fear shoot through him.

"LIOLYN!"

He dragged the cat demon's body out completely, laying him on his back on the cold ice. He felt his pulse, chest, trying to find any signs of life.

"No..."

He ducked down and breathed into the other's mouth, holding his nose, before pulling back.

"Come on, Lio."

He breathed again before crossing his hands over the cat's chest and pumping down.

"Please."

He breathed once more.

"LIO!"

When he pumped again the cat's body suddenly convulsed, coughing up water. Liolyn gasped, coughing and gagging as he tried to both breathe and cough at the same time. He curled up on his side, eyes still closed. He trembled violently from the cold.

Strong arms wrapped around him and he was pulled into someone's hold. An equally cold and clammy forehead pressed against his neck and his body twisted back into the hold.

"Lio... oh god... don't ever do that again! You stupid, idiotic cat!"

Liolyn was too cold and weak to respond. He dripped spitefully on the wolf.

And then he heard it. It was soft but there. Kadell was... crying?

"I thought you died!" He choked, face still buried into the cat's neck. "I thought you left me... I was so scared... I love you... oh god, I love you and you can't leave me like they did! I won't let you!"

Liolyn twisted in the wolf's hold so that he was facing him, curled up against his chest. He was shaking so hard he couldn't speak properly. "K-K-Ka-Kah-d-d-ngh...c-c-col-ld..."

Kadell hugged him tighter, shivering himself. He knew if he followed the lake down around that bend he would be at the den. It was a lot closer than his cave but he didn't know what would happen to Liolyn. They may let him freeze to death and he would not allow it!

He needed to get Liolyn warm and he didn't have time.

"Can you make it back to the cave?"

Liolyn convulsed a few times before nodding.

"Jorin!" Adrex snapped. "Come one! Move it."

But Jorin didn't move. He didn't even blink. He continued to stare at a spot in the forest, not daring to tear his gaze away.

Adrex growled and walked up to him, prepared to drag him along. But then he saw the expression on the wolf's face and couldn't bring himself to do it. It was a mixture of shock and cold fear, something that was very unusual for the wolf.

The older wolf narrowed his eyes. "Jorin?"

"There's something there."

Adrex followed the other's gaze and stared at the trees. "I don't see anything."

"Wait... it'll move."

Adrex raised a brow but did what he was told, staring at the trees. The forest was dead quiet, the silence almost deafening. It made his hackles rise and claws flex. He felt fear creep up on him, his ears ringing as they tried to pick up any sounds.

And that's when he saw it.

It didn't look more than a shadow until it shifted, disappearing behind a tree.

Jorin whispered. "It's been following us ever since we entered the heart of the forest."

Adrex swallowed hard. He couldn't smell anything and the shadow had moved without a sound. He wondered where the birds were. There were always birds, always something moving around.

But not now.

Sire walked up to Adrex. "What is it?"

Adrex's eyes scanned the trees. "I don't know."

"Hey... guys?" Katsu's voice floated over to them. "What's that?"

Adrex whipped around and saw the shadow flash. "Don't flex your claws. Don't growl."

The hunting pack stood perfectly still, staring at the trees.

There was a snap of a twig and all heads whipped to it but there was nothing to see, nothing to smell.

"What the hell is going on?" Katsu hissed, backing up closer to the other three.

Sire's back pressed against Adrex's. "We're being hunted."

"Don't be stupid. We hunt. We don't get hunted."

Snow fell to the ground and all eyes snapped up. A branch was swaying as if something just jumped off it.

Adrex felt his hackles rise, his senses tingling. Chills went down his spine. He could feel eyes on them but... it didn't feel like eyes. He could feel something moving. Something was circling them, something was watching them.

"We... we should move."

The heat of Sire's back against his was comforting, knowing that what he couldn't see was being seen by someone he trusted. The heat shifted slightly. "Are you sure we should?"

Jorin was to his immediate right. "We should meet up with the other party. There'd be more of us and maybe it'll leave."

Katsu was somewhere near his left, he could feel the heat from his body but not actual contact. "We should track it down and bring it in."

Adrex whispered. "There are things in this forest we shouldn't and don't interact with. I think we should just leave it alone."

Jorin was almost trembling. "Maybe it's a fox demon? You know how annoying they can be."

Sire's voice was very quiet. "I've never sensed or met a fox demon that could completely hide its scent."

A sharp noise directly above them caused all four to snarl and crouch down defensively.

A bird chirped down at them, ruffling its feathers and cocking its head to one side.

All four of them let out laughter, falling back onto the snow. The helpless and nervous, but relieved all the same, laughter was somewhat calming.

Adrex covered his eyes with one hand as he chuckled. "Oh god... Are we going insane or is it just me?"

Sire leaned back against him. "That was... ha ha... oh wow."

Jorin ran a hand through his hair nervously. "You guys... I was... oh god... I swear I was about to bolt, leaving you guys to be eaten first. Not joking."

Katsu took a few breaths to try to calm his nerves but still laughing. "This is so stupid. We sh-"

"CHREEEP!"

They're head snapped up to see a puff of feathers raining down on them.

The wolves froze, ice cold fear creeping up on them.

Adrex whispered. "Very slowly we're going to get up and walk calmly to the other group. Okay?"

Jorin's back was pressing against his side and he could feel the trembling, or was it him that was trembling? "Agreed."

Sire swallowed hard. "Alright."

Katsu was on his other side. "Let's get the fuck out of here."

Derek stared at Moku while Moku tried desperately to pretend everything was fine while Ethan talked about something and Ludus annoyed Barex. The artic wolf was lying on his stomach, propped up on elbows, pretending that it was perfectly normal to be lying in Derek's bed and being found sleeping there by his friends. Luckily for him Derek had heard the three coming and quickly untangled himself from the boy's body.

Ludus, Ethan, and Barex decided to settle in Derek's room, much to the latter's displeasure, and to talk and joke like normal friends do.

But the full blood was ignoring the other three and was perfectly content with staring at Moku's profile. He got shot a few warning glares from Moku, who never failed to blush cutely, and Derek had a sudden urge to bite him. He didn't understand why he was so obsessed with chewing on some part of the smaller wolf's body, preferably neck or shoulder blades, but he just really did. He wanted to nibble, nip, or chomp on that sensitive area where neck became shoulder or on his ear. He also got a disturbing urge to bite his ass but he placed it on the fact that Moku's ass was just delicious and people probably thought about it all the time... Right? For his sanity, let it be right.

His eyes busied themselves with studying the other wolf's ass and debating whether it just screamed to be fucked or if it's just him. He was so studious in his examination that he missed Barex trying to get his attention for five minutes.

The timber wolf finally got fed up and snapped his fingers in front of Derek's eyes. Unfortunately, Derek was so deep in his Moku humping fantasies that all he seemed to do was staring blankly ahead of him, silver eyes glazed over and half lidded.

"You got to be kidding me. DEREK!" He punched his friend and Derek snapped back to reality with a snarl.

"WHAT?"

Barex glared at him. "I've been trying to talk to you but you were too busy daydreaming to notice!"

Derek almost blushed but Derek didn't blush. He seethed. "I do not daydream."

"Hey, Derek." Ludus said cautiously, his danger senses going off. "You got a little drool right... there."

Derek wiped his mouth and had to blush when he did find saliva. "Oh."

Moku buried his head in his arms to hide how red he was getting.

"I was thinking about how good food would be right now." Derek lied smoothly. "Where are those damn hunters?"

There was a snort from Moku's area of the circle and the wolves looked him. The boy's shoulders shook and they were afraid he was crying when Moku's head finally rose, laughing hysterically.

"I'm sorry *giggle* I know *snicker* shut up!" He rolled to his side, clutching his sides as he laughed so hard that it hurt.

Ludus chuckled. "And Moku has finally gone insane."

Soon the other wolves were laughing too because that kind of laughter was just contagious.

After a good couple minutes of uncontrollable mirth, Moku finally began to pull himself together, breathing heavily. "Oh fuck... that was..." He burst into uncontrollable giggles again. "I'm sorry... phew. Oh god. That felt so good." He was about to roll over onto his back but a sudden pang from his passage reminded him not to. "This is the longest goddamn day of my life."

Ethan calmed to giggles. "Want to go see if the food's here yet?"

"Desperately."

Kadell collapsed into his cave, body shaking so badly. But nothing was compared to Liolyn's.

For a second he thought that he was having a seizure.

"W-We g-got to g-get you out of th-hose clothes." Kadell said through chattering teeth, roughly stripping to cat with little resistance. He threw the wet clothes in a corner, pealing his own drenched shirt off.

He grabbed furs from the bed, wrapping them around Liolyn's quaking body.

Half lidded gold eyes watched him, hands clasping the soft pelts. Kadell bit his lip as he saw the frost that stuck the cat's face and hair and ears.

"Fire."

He got up quickly and threw logs onto the fire, trying not to shiver too noticeably.

Liolyn whimpered, curling up in a small ball. He couldn't feel his ears and his tail wouldn't move. The water on him had frozen during the trip and his had frost bite everywhere.

"K-Kah-d-d-a-ahl-l."

The wolf demon threw on one more log before kneeling by him. "What? What is it?"

Liolyn shut his eyes tightly. "E-Ear-rs."

Kadell felt his ears and cursed under his breath before getting up again.

Liolyn didn't know what the wolf was doing anymore. He continued to shiver under the suffocating blankets, willing them to heat up faster. He felt so tired. The entire trip back he wanted to fall asleep but Kadell refused to let him, stopping every time he felt the cat go limp to rouse him. His cheek still stung slightly from when Kadell had to slap him to make the cat wake up.

"Is this t-too hot?"

Gold eyes slid open and felt a moist hot towel on his cheek. He shook his head negatively and Kadell wrapped it around his frozen ear before doing the same with the other one.

"L-Let me see your feet."

Liolyn groaned sleepily, letting his foot be pulled out of it confines. Kadell rubbed it, hoping to warm it up.

He smiled shakily. "Your feet are cute."

Golden eyes slid back open to gaze him, hearing the trembling in the wolf's voice.

"I just thought you should know." He leaned down and kissed the instep before switching to the other foot.

Liolyn's eyes traveled down the wolf's body, seeing how unnaturally pale he was and how he was shivering from the cold. He also saw the slight dripping from his pants.

Gold eyes blinked slowly before whispering. "Could you get the bear demon hide?"

Kadell nodded and got up to drag the huge back fur off the bed and unrolled it over the cat demon. "Better?"

Liolyn nodded, watching as Kadell knelt by him, tucking the fur closer to his back. His hand shot out, grabbing the wolf's wrist.

He twisted the hand, studying the knuckles. Kadell's hand was blotchy with purple and green and swollen. The knuckles were spilt but Liolyn knew a broken hand when he saw one.

Kadell looked down at him, meeting emotionless golden eyes. His eye slightly went out of focus as Liolyn's fingers slid up the underside of his wrist the graze down his torso. They undid the ties of his pants and tugged, silently voiced for them to be taken off.

Kadell obeyed, eyes never leaving Liolyn's.

Once he was completely naked, Liolyn raised up the furs in a silent invitation that Kadell took.

The moment the wolf demon settled down, Liolyn cuddled up to him, whimpering and wrapping his arms around the wolf's ice cold waist. Kadell wrapped his arms around Liolyn's shoulders and, with his remaining hand, pressed the cat's face into the curve of his neck, sliding his fingers through his caramel hair. He kissed his temple and whispered.

"I love you, Liolyn."
