My Knight in Shinning Armour
Chapter 12: The Truth will out...
Alex sat on the couch devoid of any happy related emotion. His whole morning, not to mention his life, was collapsing and he could not keep it up on him. It all came falling down on him and as weak as he believed himself to be, he could not handle it. His mother had retreated to the kitchen to 'make supper', even though Alex could hear a rather load sobbing coming from her. She had said that his father was currently at the hospital being taken care of properly, but then again how do you take care of someone properly if they're going to die?
Alex sighed; he'd done a little, or rather a lot, of crying. He slowly picked himself up on his feet and slouched off to his room like a reanimated corpse. He closed the door behind him and fell on his bed, bursting into tears again and dousing his pillow with them.
He felt lost of though and above all...very, very alone...
David clenched his fist, something was not right. He hopped off his roof and into his room through a window. He looked around at the gems. They were sparkling, but more in the way a siren would flash instead of just normal glittering. The bat sighed, only just left his love alone for about an hour and something was already wrong.
David could feel the depression his mate was feeling. Having a psychic love bond with his mate sure did come in handy. David sighed once more and debated whether he should put his fears aside and finally tell Alex about the condition they both had. David actually really wanted to be honest with his love always; he was just so scared of what the reaction would be. Here he was, a guy who could take on a head-hunter, a demon lord, ghostly beings, reanimated death, a extremely large amount of fiends and any other dark thing that crossed his path with harmful intent...and he could not pluck up the courage to tell his boyfriend the complete and utter truth.
He gazed around his room again; the gems had stopped glittering, but rather glowing warmly. That was a sign, as odd as it would sound, the gems they wanted him to tell. David looked down for a minute then back up again. He finally made his decision...
He was going to tell his darkest secret...that he was half demonic and his boyfriend was half angelic. It sounded a bit crazy, but hey what's life without risks?
David played with the though in his head, only hoping that Alex would still love him. First of all though he needed to tend to whatever was wrong. He could not have his boyfriend in agony. He never wanted Alex to suffer without a reason that was so important it was earth shattering.
David jumped back onto the roof. He knelt down and his wings began to transcend, growing to the size of bigger that his body. With that done he stood up properly and took off into the air, his wings big enough to carry him properly now.
He muttered to himself "Don't worry sweet heart, your demon's gonna make it all better if it kills him, no matter what the hell it is"
David landed at the doorstep of Alex's home shortly after. As he did his wings shrunk to normal size. He blinked at the locked door, it unlocked in a black eerie glow and he stepped inside. He called out.
Alex blinked at hearing "Alex! Where are you!?"
He recognised the voice in an instant. It was David's
He lifted his muzzle up so the pillow didn't get in the way of his voice, he shouted back, "I'm in my room!"
He wondered why his bat had come, had he forgotten something here? The mouse heard footsteps heading up the stairs, down the hall and right at the door. He then heard a knock.
Alex sniffed and wiped his tears away before saying, "Come in..."
The bat opened the door and stepped inside "Alex?"
Alex forced a smile and sat up "What's up?"
David walked over to the edge of the bed and sat down next to Alex "Alex...what's wrong?"
Alex tried his best to look confused; he partly was since it would be odd that David came over because he knew something was wrong. "What are you talking about?"
David moved closer and wrapped his arms around Alex "Alex...I know something's wrong...you've been crying...I can see it...what's wrong?"
Alex looked down, leaning a bit towards the bat and frowning "Why did you come over?"
David pulled a concerned face "What? I can't visit my mousy and check if he's ok? You did faint after all...you're still not telling me what's wrong...I care about you Alex, please tell me what's wrong"
Alex sighed, but didn't lift his head "Its...my dad..."
David nodded listening attentively "What about your dad?"
Alex sniffed and quivered lightly "He's...well...mom says he's really sick with some sort of unknown virus...and..."
David leaned his head closer, holding the shivering mouse tightly "And?"
Alex looked on the verge of tears "If they don't find a cure for him or something...he's gonna...he's gonna..."
David knew what the mouse wanted to say but could not bring himself to say it, so he completed the sentence for him "He'll die...?"
Alex broke down and burst into tears, burying his head onto David's chest and basically drenching his shirt and some of his fur with tears. All composure was lost inside the mouse hearing the word of death.
David hugged tighter while using one paw to stroke the back of Alex's head supportively "There, there Alex. It's gonna be ok...its ok to cry, just let it all out." trying his best to restore the faith inside the mouse.
Alex cried on, unable to move, all he could do was breath and hold onto his love. Tears streaming down his face.
David smirked. Angel tears, able to cure the wound of whatever it landed on no matter how grave. They sparkled like diamonds if you focused on them for a while. He kept his supportive role on; he never liked seeing his beloved like this, and then broke the talking silence "...I think you should take a shower..."
Alex sniffled and blinked a few tears away "A shower?"
David nodded "Yea, I take I shower sometimes when I'm down, it helps clear the head up a bit..."
Alex didn't move for a while, before saying, "O-ok..."
David stood up and lifted the mouse into his arms, cradling him and walked to the bathroom door "Good, we'll take a shower then"
Alex closed his eyes and kept his head on the stronger male's chest "We?"
David blinked at the door, it opened "Yes we, I gotta make sure you don't just stare into space and mope while the water is drenching your pretty black and white fur more than it already is."
Alex didn't see the door opening by itself; his head was too busy spinning around like a top. He was blushing slightly though at the comment made.
David set Alex down on his feet and peeled his clothes off slowly, shedding his own clothes afterwards. He reached out and turned the knobs of the shower and waited for a while for the water to settle, then pulled Alex into the shower.
Alex shivered under the water, staring down at the floor absentmindedly.
David faced the mouse and groaned slightly "You see! That's what I meant" He reached for the soup and lathered it up in his paws, he then started washing over Alex's chest caringly "Alex, you can't let this tear your whole life apart, you gotta get back up and kick life's lemon's in the ass."
Alex murred gently at the rubbings at his chest "But..."
David moved his paws lower to his mate's lower section, cleaning the legs and brushing his paw over the sheath numerous times "But nothing, this is not the end for your dad, for all we know it there could be a unknown cure to the unknown disease or a fluke, never give up hope"
Alex murred louder, he was nowhere near in the mood but it felt sooooo good, he murmured "I..."
David moved his paws to Alex's back, cleaning and massaging it slightly, forcing out any stress in the muscles "You are one of the people that can make a difference in this kind of things, your is family, show him that its not over until you start hallucinating and claim to see the grim reaper"
Alex's murring continued, he could not form any more sentences or even a letter in his mouth it was all so relaxing. His depression state was starting to melt as he felt the water spraying around him. "..."
David moved his paws lower again to the mouse's rump, continuing to clean where his paw's roamed "You have the power, you and only you can make a real difference in our...I mean your dad's life. There is always something one can do to change the course of life. Remember that and nothing would really seem to dampen your mood." Blushing light at his slip.
Alex murred gleefully. His sadness melted faster than a marshmallow put in an oven. Everything, even the water, had a calming effect. He opened his muzzle "David...thank you...I love you"
David smiled and pulled Alex into a hug while he kissed Alex's neck "It's more than a pleasure Alex...and I love you too" he grinned and picked up the soap again "So, you gonna return a favour and clean me too?"
Alex giggled and reached for the soap "You bet" proceeding to return a favour of rubbing, emitting a murr from his mate.
They cuddled together on the couch, Alex in David's lap, murring happily. He'd somehow accepted the fact that his father might die. He also accepted and rather favoured the fact that something could be done to stop it.
David knew how though. Alex had angel powers for pities sake. Even drinking the blood of an angel would cure anything you have, even AIDS. If you drank a really big amount of it you could even stand the chance of becoming immortal. That's not what David wanted though. He could not stand the fact that his mate would have to shed blood for the sake of healing; it was just not right...unless in a complete and utter catastrophe where it was the only chance of staying alive and he was bleeding anyway.
David wanted to teach Alex how to use his powers properly. Light and Dark might be two complete different things in alignment but they were very similar in the way they work. Both are higher levels of elemental power than the basic raw elements of fire, water, air and earth, simply because light and darkness is in everything. It's in people and the balance decides what your behaviour is like. They both are very strong and hold the power of psychic in them.
David had to tell him now, the longer he waited the worse it would be for his dad.
He breathed in and opened his muzzle to speak "Alex?"
Alex smiled up at David cuddling him in his arms "Yea?"
"I think I know a way we can get your dad back to normal"
Alex blinked "You do? How?"
David took another breath in "You have to heal him using your power"
Alex tilted his head "My wha?"
"Alex...you have the power of an angel inside you...you have the essence of light and virtue in your soul"
Alex's eyes widened "...I got what?"
"You're a demi-angel Alex"
Alex blinked in confusion "...Are you serious?"
David nodded slowly "When you got hit by that car, when you were in the hospital, your body automatically healed itself, I saw it myself. When we got held up this morning, you are the one who got rid of them, you subconsciously banished them...not to mention the dream you had, it was a vision, especially since I shared it with you."
Alex for some reason believed him, it was like he knew all along but didn't want to admit it...it was really weird. One thing in that whole speech caught Alex's attention, he was still shocked by this news but he could not help notice it "...If I'm a demi-angel... then what are you...how come you know all this stuff...and why did we have the same dre... I mean vision?"
David lowered his head so his face was not in view "I was hoping you would not ask that...I'm...a demi-demon..."
Alex blinked in confusion again "Huh?"
"I'm your opposite, you are light...and I'm darkness..."
Alex did his best to take it all in. He again felt like he already knew it "So...I'm a demi-angel...and you're a demi-demon...cool"
David blinked at Alex in a confused manner "Cool? Aren't you scared or something?"
Alex smiled "Why would I be?"
"Because I'm half demonic"
"So? That does not mean YOU are a demon bent on the destruction of the world."
David wasn't expecting that answer, he was glad it was though, so he smiled.
Alex nuzzled his body as close as he could "You're way too kind and caring to be a demon at all, all you got are the powers then. You love me and I love you. That's not going to change just because we both got supernatural stuff running through us. I'll always love you no matter what anyone or you say or do. I don't care what you look like or whatever. I know you'll love me because you go out of your way just to make sure I'm happy... you're a good demon, and always will be good enough for me"
David felt a tear coming on, he sniffed it away "Alex..."
Alex giggled cutely "Yes?"
David sniffed back more tears "You don't know how happy it makes me to hear that"
Alex smiled cutely now "You though I was gonna abandon you and run away eh? Never"
David lost his cool completely "...Damn it, you're so cute" pressing his muzzle forward to kiss the mouse passionately. Alex murred happily and opened up his muzzle. They twisted and let there tongues roam inside each other excitedly.
David let go slowly and cuddled the mouse as tight as he could "You're too good for me"
Alex smirked "I know"
They stayed huddled together like this. David overjoyed he still had a boyfriend even though he told his secret. Alex was defiantly something special, and David thanked whatever or whoever had brought them together.
Life was defiantly looking brighter...
