Chapter 1

Two dragons, one male the other female, were lying in bed together and being loving with each other. His lips were pressed tenderly against her neck, which made her back arched a bit. Feeling his warm paws sliding down her body made the dragoness moan out softly. Although it was dark in the room, she could still she his blue scales, moving her paw up to run down the back of his neck. She could feel his lips moving down a bit lower on her body.

"Yes right there!" she moaned out, not even able to say his name, or hear it for that matter. Her breathing and heart rate increased as the royal blue dragon continued to move down her body slowly, kissing her neck. Before long he reached her chest while his paws still slid along her slender form. With each soft kiss on her body, she would moan even louder. The feeling was uplifting, and wonderful. His warm and tender touch, how he held her, and how he kissed her, it was intoxicating, she wanted more, much more.

In an instant, the dragoness shot up from her bed. She found herself in a slightly darkened room, the dark blue curtains drawn. Her breathing was heavy. Slowly she rested her head back onto the pillow, groaning out in dismay.

"That dream again. That's the fifth time in the past ten days," she whispered to herself. "Get a grip Nuxta. It's just a dream, although, it is a really wonderful dream." For a moment, Nuxta stared up at the ceiling, continuing to think about the dream, focusing on the dragon that had loved her in it. However, in the dream itself, it seemed she couldn't speak his name. As she thought about this dream-dragon, her head shifted over to the clock on the wall. The moment she realized what time it was her eyes widened. She leapt out of bed and made a mad dash for the bathroom, where she quickly cleaned up. When she finally stepped back out of the bathroom her dark blue scales glistened a bit as she sprinted for the door. She made sure to grab her keys on the way out. She ran on her hind legs, walking upright like most of the humanoid races out there. It was a known fact that as time had passed, dragons gradually developed the ability to walk upright on their hind legs. This method became a matter of preference and need, as well as a matter of how often the individual practiced.

'I'll be cutting this one close,' she thought, 'it's a good thing Feringal is opening today and not the boss.' She picked up her pace as a restaurant came into view. Nuxta skidded into the door at the right time, five minutes before opening, which was just enough time for her to get ready.

"Cutting it a bit close today, eh Nuxta?" a voice asked, causing the blue dragoness to turn to a dark brown male dragon wearing a chef's hat that sat between two of his horns with a third one sitting under it.

"Yeah. Sorry, I kind of slept in a little late..." she replied to him, rubbing the back of her head.

"Had that dream again?" he quickly asked, being one of the few dragons she actually trusted. "You know, I've noticed a trend developing. Every time you have that dream, you're almost late."

"Pointing out the obvious much?" she said back to him. The male gave her a look of dismay before he returned to his work at one of the cooking areas.

"Just get ready to open the doors," he said, working on a few breakfast foods. Meanwhile Nuxta shifted her focus to the dining area, pulling out a cart that held various kinds of fruit including dragon berries, blueberries, strawberries, and more. Once she had set this in place, she dashed over to the doors, unlocked them, and then began to set up a few of the tables and the front bar.

A few minutes passed quietly before the doors opened with a small group of dragons looking for their breakfast. After taking their seats, Nuxta dropped off some menus for them to read while she went back into the kitchen and quickly returned to them with some water. Some went ahead and took this time to give her their orders. Making sure she wrote them all down, she dashed back to the kitchen and handed the slips with the orders to Feringal.

"Two cheese omelets with Dragon berries on the side and a fruit cocktail: strawberry special," he mumbled. "Nuxta get the fruit cocktail ready. I'll handle the omelets." She nodded in response. Her speed at preparing one was incomparable. She pulled out a small basket of assorted berries. After pouring them onto the table she began to slice up some of the strawberries with a knife and dropped them into the nearby bowl. Following that, she took the blueberries, and slid them into the very same bowl. Lastly she poured some pit-free cherries into the mix.

Now that all the fruits were mixed together, Nuxta took out a small container of a rather thick juice. Carefully, she poured it into the bowl to give it a thicker base and a more appealing look. Normally she would add some whip cream to the top of the cocktail. However, it was still early in the morning and she believed it would be inappropriate for a dessert topping to be on top of it.

Once it was done she placed it onto a moving cart along with the main course that Feringal had finished moments earlier. With a smile on her face the dragoness proceeded to push it out to the customers. Nuxta was rather happy because she was working the morning shift. It meant that she would avoid the drunken customers, especially the obnoxious, disrespectful ones. Seeing Feringal also made the shift easier, since they seemed to work very well together. Some even thought they had been dating for a while but that was just a rumor.

Nuxta had to be honest with herself though. Sometimes she wished it were true, especially since the dreams had started over a month ago. These dreams had been driving her a bit crazy, making her a bit more desperate for affection. It had been a very long time since her last real loving relationship. Her last real love had been in the academy days back when she was younger. However, he betrayed her. It was the way she was betrayed that had really hurt her since she hadn't had anyone since. All those years though, did take their emotional toll, she had been longing to be held by someone, to feel an emotional connection with someone, and right now, it seemed like the recurring dream she had been having for the past six weeks was the best she could arrive at, due to her fear of being hurt like that again.

Most of the day seemed rather quiet, similar to the morning, with very few customers. As soon as lunch hit though, that's when things got quite busy. Thankfully, by that time, some of Feringal and Nuxta's co-workers had shown up, which made it much easier on them. Even so Nuxta herself was seen running in and out of the kitchen every few minutes, carrying tray after tray of food and handing it off to each of the customers. On her way in, she would be carrying many dishes, trying her best not to trip over anything to avoid causing any unnecessary damage.

Eventually, like usual, both the dark brown dragon, and the midnight blue dragoness switched places. This was a common thing among the workers, switching out jobs. It made working quite a bit easier for everyone especially on longer shifts. Not only that, it also prevented harassment from some of the lunchtime drunks since there really wasn't much they could do about it. If they lashed out against the customer, they would probably lose their jobs because their boss did not take his employees disrespecting customers lightly. It was namely because the boss was a greedy dragon. While his employees worked their tails off, sometimes literally, he would either be sleeping in his office or he would give himself the day off. The only one the boss was really scared of was Feringal. Not only was the dark drown dragon his head chef, he was also a retired hero. If something happened that he didn't like, he would threaten to quit, and because the boss didn't really like the idea of losing money he did his best to avoid confronting the dark brown dragon.

It wasn't until right after lunch where everything started getting a bit harder. A very large group walked quietly into the restaurant and took their table. They were given menus and they began to look over it. Nuxta herself peeked out from behind the door, eyeing the large group. As her eyes carefully looked over them, for a moment, she could have sworn she saw the dragon that had been in her dreams. Seeing those royal blue scales on his face almost made her slip from the spot she was standing in. That drew some attention to her and she quickly ducked back behind the door, swallowing hard.

'Could it really be him?' she thought, her face growing a bit nervous and a bit of a blush moving across her cheeks slowly. When Feringal spotted Nuxta as he came out of the freezer carrying a box of frozen ingredients, he set the box down and walked over to her.

"What's wrong with you?" he asked, placing his paw on her shoulder.

"I-its him!" she stuttered.

"Who?" he questioned tilting his head slightly to the side.

"W-Well at least I think it is. It's the dragon from my dreams!" she pointed out. She opened the door a bit, pointing a claw toward the royal blue dragon that had entered with that large group. What she didn't realize though, was, it wasn't the dragon she was thinking about, because, she had failed to remember, that in her dreams, the royal blue dragon looked a bit more like a sea dragon, this guy looked more like an eastern dragon than a sea dragon.

Several minutes passed before the dragoness quietly walked out of the kitchen, carrying a notepad and a pen for taking orders. Starting at the opposite end of the table, she began, making her way around to the dragon she thought was the one from her dreams. As she tried to listen to his order, she couldn't help but blush on occasion, which grabbed his attention. However, he quickly brushed it off as she dashed back to the kitchen with the orders.

It would be another few minutes before she would come back out. She stared out at the dragon, barely visible behind the door, trying to make sure it was the same dragon. By the time the orders were ready, she still hadn't decided if he was really the dragon or not. As she carried the food out on a rolling cart her mind began to wander off to the dreams she had been having. Although she didn't show many signs of it, her cheeks started to gain a bit of a blush on them.

Moments later, she was brought out of her daze by crashing into the table. Thankfully for her, the food didn't spill, however, it did seem like the customers weren't too pleased. Seeing their angry glares, Nuxta chuckled nervously, quickly picking up each plate, passing them out to the ones that had ordered them, saving the dragon she thought was the one from her dreams for last.

"And here's your order, sir," she said as she set the plate down in front of him. She took a very good look at his scales, slowly trailing her eyes over his entire body. Examining everything about him from the shade of blue on his scales, to the shade and shape of his horns and body. It took her a few moments before she stood up, feeling a bit foolish, before finally walking back to the kitchen, letting out a sigh of defeat.

"It wasn't him, was it?" Feringal asked her, leaning against the wall. "It's okay, Nuxta...I'm sure you'll find the dragon of your dreams sooner or later. Just have faith." Hearing these words brought comfort to the dragoness, making her look up at him with a soft smile.
