Nathanial Cheiron Marks- He is turning 16 years old on Sep 30, 2011. He is in grade 10, and has always been on the honour roll. He stands 5'8" (170cm), weighs 173lbs (80.7kg), and he's an Akita Inu with light orange-red markings, and sky blue eyes. He has a small amount of extra weight, but his broad build carries it well. He has a black nose and pads, his muzzle still betrays his youth. His sheath is 3.5" (8.75cm) , his penis is 6" (15cm) erect and 1.5" (3.75cm) diameter (4.75" or 11.9cm circumference), knot 2.25" (5.6cm) diameter (7" or 17.5cm circ), reddish-pink skin, frequent beads of precum. Not very athletic, hates organized sports, likes anything to do with magic (D&D, RPG video games, fantasy manga). Quite shy, bullied a lot in previous school, no friends. Son of a member of the Arcane Society, barely. Father's (Garret) side of the family has a long history of magic, but never has had enough magic to make much use of it. It is just enough to require membership in Arcane Society to protect them from the Knights Templar, even with the high membership fees to gain entrance. Nathanial feels strong affinity for magic, but has a lot of trouble using any magic derived from father's grimoire (primarily Fire Elemental and basic Charm spells). Learned the cantrips (minor telekinesis, light, candle lighting, etc) very easily, though Candle Lighting took much longer to master (still requires gestures and vocalization to use).

Geoff Ruarc McDougal- He turns 16 years old on Sep 17, 2011. He is in grade 10, and is almost always on the honour roll. He was the star of his football (soccer for us North Americans) team in Ireland. He stands 6'2" (185cm), weighs 190lbs (86kg) and he's a Wolf with pure white fur and light pink nose and pads, blue eyes. He has a 4.25" (10.6cm) sheathe, 7.2" (18cm) erect, 2" (5cm)diameter (6.28" or 15.7cm circ) with a 3" (7.5cm) knot (9.42" or 23.55cm circ), pink skin, produces almost constant drizzle of precum when fully aroused. Very athletic, likes running (but not on a track or treadmill), and park games (anything involving catching and chasing), he loves parkour, and is very good at it. Doesn't like studying or being tied down at a desk, but is smart and has a lot of self discipline, so his grades don't suffer too much. Friendly, but he dislikes non-Spirits, and hates being touched by anyone but his best friend (Faelen O'Conall) and family. Girls flock around him, which drives him nuts. Hates fuss and loud noise. Manifest: Dark Spirit. He cloaks himself in shadows, becoming pure black with purple eyes. He is slightly more muscled in this form, and much faster, with quicker reflexes as well. Exceptional jumper. Moderate regeneration factor when in dark areas. He is able to "bend" and partially solidify shadows.

Spirits of the Six Elements (Wind, Fire, Earth, Water, Light, and Dark) are rare and the last two are exceptionally so. They could almost be considered nobility amongst spirits, and take spots of importance in their hidden societies. His family moved to this town, from Cork, Ireland, to get away from the harassment of an over zealous Hunter/paparazzi. They brought one of their servants, Dirk, and his son with them (Faelen's dad). The rest of the family stayed in Cork, they keep a portal (created by a member of the Society) in order to travel back and forth quickly. His father (Conor) is an investor, his mother (Avery) is a news reporter for a left-leaning news program, and frequently clashes with prominent right-wing politicians funded by the Knights Templar and Hunters.

Liam Smith- He turned 14 years old on the first day of school, Sep 5, 2011. He's in grade 10, and has always had top marks in school. He's only 5'4" (160cm), weighs, 108lbs (49kg), and he's a Rottweiler/Doberman cross. He looks mostly like a Rottweiler and has black nose/pads, still mostly puppy faced, lean for a Rottweiler, with developing muscles. Tan eyebrows, muzzle, top of chest/pecs going in tapering point to stomach, socks (all paws), balls, along butt-crack. Tan fur goes up inside of legs from socks to groin. Ears and tail are uncropped, his ears stand up on the lower half and the top half flop down. His eyes are deep brown. Sheathe 2.75" (6.9cm), 5" (12.5cm) erect, 1.2" (3cm) diameter (3.75" or 9.4cm circ), knot 2.5" (7.85" or 19.6cm circ); produces occasional bead of precum, pink skin. Very standoffish, very formal, doesn't speak unless required (but tends to ramble when he does), comes across as very grim and the force of his presence tends to scare people. He gets insulted frequently but ignores it, will not throw first punch, but responds with almost excessive force when attacked. Just skipped 9th grade to start grade 10. He has an office for his alternative medicine practice on south side of Garden St between Linden and Shirley (2 blocks from Dalhousie University). Favourite music: classical music. Favourite flower: jasmine.

His mother (Mary, Doberman) is an elementary school teacher in Dartmouth, his father (Walter, Rottweiler) is an accountant for a few small and mid-sized businesses in town. Parents recently divorced, as Walter has realized he is gay. Parents get along, Liam lives with Walter, mother is living with her boyfriend (Gary Harper).

Faelen Conor O'Conall- He's the oldest of the high school group by a month. He's 16, his birthday was Aug 16, 2011. He's in grade 10, and has average marks. He stands 6'0" (180cm), and he's a Wolf with smoke grey fur, with slightly darker markings , black nose and pads, and icy blue eyes. He is heavier than Geoff by 30lbs (13.6kg), putting him at 220lbs (120kg), due to his stockier build and he's a fair bit stronger. His sheathe is 5" (7.5cm), and his penis is 6.6" (16.5cm) erect, 2.5" (6.25cm) diameter (7.85" or 19.6cm circ) with 3.6" (9cm) knot (11.3" or 28.25cm circ). His testes are like large chicken eggs, and he produces infrequent but large squirts of precum. He doesn't like running all that much, but goes with Geoff to keep an eye on him. He is quite reticent, always is watching around him, and can come across as very "slow" because of it. Generally kind, but extremely protective of Geoff, and those he thinks need protecting. He has a keen eye for strategy and potential danger (ambushes). His senses are keener than Geoff's and he is surprisingly fast for short distances. Due to his Spirit type he is able to detect people's pheromones and also get a sense of their emotions, which no Fur can, and exceptionally few Spirits can. He is good at rollerblading, as that is about the only way he can keep up with Geoff when he gets going. Favourite music: Broadway show tunes and 50/60's rock. Favourite flower: spring gentian.

Manifest Form: Mist Spirit. Cloaks his form in a pale mist, but needs sufficient humidity or moisture. He appears a pale grey, with light blue eyes; all fine detail is smoothed over by the mist, and the edges of his body appear indistinct. He does not gain any extra strength, but does gain a bit of extra speed, coordination, and endurance. Within a bank of mist he can travel without being detected by anything except magic (but even long range magic can't detect him, just short range); his speed and coordination are improved again, his endurance improves, and his senses are heightened . He also gets a small regeneration factor.

His mother (Mary Anne) died from complications from childbirth a week after Faelen was born. Avery helped raise Faelen for the first year, alongside Geoff. The two have been together since. Dirk was Conor's manservant and bodyguard for a few years prior, and continued to work in that capacity since. Faelen doesn't like school, as he figures he will continue in his father's footsteps and continue to work for the McDougal's after graduation. He would like to join the wrestling team, and doesn't enjoy soccer (plays as goalie), but figures keeping the same extra-curricular activities as Geoff is his duty so as to not raise suspicion while remaining close. He is named after his grandfather, Faeden.

Secondary Characters

Marks, Garret Wallace- VP of sales for a large software company based in Halifax. He is driven to succeed due to a variety of reasons. He has very limited magical abilities and lives primarily as a normal Fur. He hates having to pay dues to the Arcane Society, but he is afraid of the Knights Templar. He has nothing to do with anything associated to the Hidden World, and only taught his children the bare minimum to keep their magic under control. He is aware, barely, of Nathanial's interest in magic, but knows the difficulty his eldest son has with his grimoire and is thus unconcerned. Grimoire are hard to come by, even if you know where to look and who to ask. Speaks Japanese, Chinese, Russian, German, French. Good singing voice (dramatic tenor), his mother made him take piano or sing, he chose singing.

5'11" (178cm), 185lbs (84kg), Akita (orange-red fur), green-blue eyes, fit. Very handsome. He is 36 years old.

Marks, Micah Joel- Nathanial'syoungest brother, he's 11 ½, his birthday is March 21. He's in grade 6, and had top marks in his school last year. He stands 4'8" (140cm), weighs 69lbs (31kg), and has black fur except for white markings on the underside of his muzzle and around the eyes. He has gold eyes that look just like his mother's. He's very thin. He's in the early stages of puberty, with a 2" (5cm) sheath, 3" (7.5cm) erect, ¾" (1.9cm) diameter (2.4" or 6cm circ), 1.25" (3.1cm) knot (3.9" or 12.09cm circ). He can't ejaculate yet, but enjoys all things sexual, particularly spying on his brothers masturbating. Charm magic was extremely easy for him, which annoyed Nathanial (who was conscripted into teaching him magic, as Garret was "too busy"), but he is completely unable to use fire magic. He also feels an affinity to magic, but it doesn't fascinate him like it does Nathanial. He is hyper, always moving around, and very curious. He feels alone all the time, and puts huge effort into everything he does to try to get his parents praise, to no avail.

Marks, Nicholas Arthur- Nathanial's next oldest sibling, he turned 15 on August 17. He's in grade 9, and is on the honour roll at George Montagu-Dunk Junior High. He stands 5'5" (162.5cm), weighs 110lbs (50kg), and is an Akita Inu with light orange-red markings identical to Nathanial, gold eyes, and is quite thin. Still has a full body of puppy fluff, with just a tiny amount of adult fur around his penis. His sheath is 2.75" (6.9cm) long, his penis is 4.5" (11.25cm) erect, 1" (2.5cm) diameter (3.14" or 7.85cm circ), with a 1.75" (4.4cm) knot (5.5" or 13.75cm circ). Penis looks like smaller version of Nathanial's, and produces small amount of precum. He is also not very athletic, hates organized sports, but enjoys recreational swimming and walking in the outdoors, the wilder the better. Would love to go camping, but no one will take him. He is rather indifferent to magic, but has learned what his father wanted to teach him. He found the fire spells easier than Nathanial, but it still didn't come easily. He was keen to learn the fire lighting spells, as he thought it would make lighting campfires easy. He is very friendly and charming, and popular at school. He is bisexual. He is a nudist, and skinny dips in the family pool when ever his mom isn't home, the family rule is that they aren't allowed swimming alone, so Micah or Nathanial is dragged out to poolside to watch (which he secretly enjoys).

McDougal, Conor- An investor and hacker, he is the second eldest of the Alpha of the Cork Clan of Spirits. He manages the wealth of the whole clan and has built up the financial empire left by Lowell O'Conall a hundred years ago. He is very cautious though and only reinvests the extra earned into high risk investments. His hacking skills are a hobby, and are used to keep tabs on his family's enemies and to occasionally help his wife in her investigations (he is even more cautious with this than in his investments). He spent a fair amount of money to have a portal set up in his ancestral home and new home in Canada to escape a group of Hunters who were harassing Geoff and Faelen. Conor is attentive to his son and daughter (Gwendolyn, she stays in Ireland), but he is often busy, but since he works from home he is always available when needed.

42, 6'3" (190cm), 210lbs (95kg). Wolf with a light grey-blue fur, and dark grey back, blue eyes, muscular. 5" inch sheathe, 7" erect, 2" diameter (6.3" circ), 3.25" knot (10.2" circ). Produces almost constant drizzle of precum when fully aroused.

Manifest Form: Water Spirit. Fur turns bluish and changes quality to be more like otter fur, tail thickens and looks like an otters as well. Paws become webbed, and eyes become green-blue. Gains the ability to breathe underwater and minor sonar ability. Also can "bend" water. Strength and speed doubles in water. Moderate regeneration factor when fully submerged in water.

O'Conall, Dirk- body guard and manservant of Conor. Father of Faelen. He is the one who maintains the home that they live in. As Conor spends a lot of time managing the finances of the Clan on a computer, he ends up doing most of the housework and leaving the outdoor work to Faelen (who often gets help from Geoff). He is very much like his son, honourable, quiet, very observant, and places duty before everything.

36 years, 6'5" (196cm), 225lbs (102kg). Wolf with light grey underbelly fur, and dark grey fur elsewhere. Muscular, gold eyes. 5.5" sheathe, 7.2" erect, 2.3" diameter ( 7.2" circ), with 3.5" (11" circ) knot. Produces infrequent drops of precum.

Manifest Form- Bone Spirit. Belly fur turns ivory, rest of fur turns black, except for a skull mask around eyes. A bony plate runs down the top of his muzzle. An uncommon Spirit, one of the "Death" subtypes of Spirits, like Rot and Decay. While not considered as powerful as Death or Dark, Bone is very versatile and it is easy to carry bones around, unlike Rot. Able to move and manipulate dead bone at will. Dirk always wears a large amount of bone "jewellery" around his body to use as weapons when needed, and to activate his powers. When in contact in bone, he gains a regeneration factor based on the amount of bone. He wears enough to give him a high factor (deep wounds heal in less than a minute). He also gains improved strength and a high resistance to damage.

Tertiary Characters

Family:

Harper, Gary- Boyfriend of Mary Smith, Panther. He attends Rock Church, the same one that Lily Marks attends.

Marks, Lily, nee McKay- Socialite, on PTA, neighbourhood committee, church groups. Aware of husbands magic, but hates it. She believes he never uses it, and that he hates the Society and the Hidden World as much as she does. She was only introduced to it through Garret, and hates the very idea of it. She is as distant with her family as Garret, and spends all the time she can out of the house, which is easier now that Nathanial, Nicholas, and Micah are older.

5'4" (160cm), Shiba/Artic Fox cross, mostly white fur with pale orange markings, delicate features frequently held in an impassive expression. Her gold eyes are always the focal point of her face. She frequently wears dark colours accented with jade and emeralds set in gold. She is very thin (but not unhealthily so), and fragile looking.

Marks, Martina- Garret's older sister. Lives in Los Angeles, California.

Marks, Rosemary- Garret's mother. She seems like an ideal grandmother, even if she's more strong willed than the stereotypical granny.

Marks, Wallace- Garret's father. Perceptive and often seems jovial, but he exhibits a cutting and sarcastic sense of humour.

McDougal, Avery- A reporter for a left-leaning news agency in Ireland (frequently travels to England and Scotland), she is tenacious and overly bold. Like most Spirits, she hates the Knights, Hunters, and Society and also regards most Furs with contempt.

45, 5'11" (182.5cm). A Wolf with reddish-grey fur, gold eyes, very fit, loves to run. She never wears dresses (says it prevents her from chasing a story). She is outgoing, but also outspoken, tenacious, bold (almost overly), quick witted and quick to judge. She has very few friends outside the Clan, but is much friendlier and much more loved in the Clan.

Manifest- Storm Spirit. Electricity forms around eyes and may arc across fur or onto metal, depending on weather. Fur colour matches clouds outside.

McDougal, Gwendolyn- 8 years old, Geoff's younger sister. Lives in Ireland with the Clan. Earth Elemental. Slate grey fur with brownish markings on ears, tail, and back of paws.

Manifest- Earth Spirit. Her fur takes on the apparent texture of stone, but remains soft. Her eyes look like pale pink marble with no pupil or iris.

McDougal, Luke- 67 years old, the Alpha of the McDougal Clan, Spirits can live much longer than humans, so he is still considered young as Alphas go. He is a bit old-school, stern and often brusque; the Clan respects him and would follow him willingly, but that is in part due to his willingness to listen to advice and his ability to acknowledge his short-comings (like diplomacy and his temper). The position of Alpha is not hereditary, but either one of his sons are expected to take over when he retires. He is a powerful Earth Elemental, one of the most powerful in decades. When manifest his strength and resiliency are unmatched in the Clan.

6'6" (198cm). A wolf with brownish-grey fur that gets darker on his back. Has blue eyes, and black nose/pads. He's very broad, but his height keeps him from looking too bulky.

Manifest- Earth Spirit. His fur becomes as hard as stone and looks like a deep grey granite, giving him the appearance of an intricately carved statue. His eyes become like obsidian orbs. The force of his aura can knock out weaker people.

McDougal, Neasa - Conor's mother. Breeze Spirit (wind > 5kts).

McDougal, Rolph- Conor's older brother, Fire Elemental. 45 years old, inherited his father's temper and physical strength, he is often belligerent and openly despises Furs. He got into fights frequently at school, and ended up being home schooled for his last years of High School. He did not take any post secondary education, and is not advancing the Clan in any meaningful way. He is acting as enforcer for his father, not that it is needed, and spends most of his time hunting in the Clans territory. Several Furs have gone missing in the forests in the land owned by the McDougal's, and it took Conor significant efforts to keep the Arcane Society appeased. Hunters prowled the area for a long time, and it began the problems that plagued Geoff. Rolph still enjoys a level of popularity, due to the Spirits respect for Elementals and amongst those who chafe at the restrictions placed on them by the Hunters and Society.

6'7" (200.5cm) Wolf with reddish brown fur. Amber eyes, pinkish-red nose and pads.

Manifest- Fire Spirit. Fur becomes the colour of a roaring campfire and his eyes deepen in colour to become like glowing red embers. Flickers of fire dance across his fur when he's angry.

McDougal, Ruarc - The Alpha preceding Luke. Deceased. White fur, with pale grey markings. Blue eyes. He was an alcoholic with a fondness for scotch.

McKay, David- Lily's father, Nathanial's grandfather. Arctic Fox, 5'5" (162.5cm), very petite.

McKay, Naomi - Lily's Younger sister. Works in aviation industry, middle income, virtually disowned by her family.

McKay, Peter - Lily's older brother. Married with family.

McKay, Ruth- Lily's mother, Nathanial's grandmother. Shiba Inu, 5'10" (175cm), standard build, reddish-brown and white fur. Bad actor, tries to be passive-aggressive.

O'Conall, Aedan - (Ay-dan, means fire-bringer) Lowell's eldest child, Faelen's great grandfather. Light grey fur with dark grey on back, icy blue eyes. 6'4" (190cm), muscular. Born July 19, 1864 (147 years old), two children: Faeden and Roison. Cavern Spirit. Bodyguard to Alpha, one of the monitors for structural integrity of the caves.

O'Conall, Ainbertach- (An-v'yar-takh, means doer of evil deeds) Muireann's son. 5'11" (177.5cm), a little out of shape. Nearly pure black fur, stray strands of silver fur on his face, more concentrated along his throat. Frost Spirit.

O'Conall, Aoife- (Ee-fah, means radiant) Lowell's youngest child. 5'10" (175cm), very fit. Large gold eyes and large ears, greyish brown fur with blackish-brown markings. Born September 21, 1873 (138 years old). No children. Leaf Spirit (Deciduous tree) Park warden of the Clan lands, primary duty is monitoring the ecology of the forest. Occasionally cooks for alpha when Lorena can't.

O'Conall, Ciaran- (Kee-a-rawn, means black) Lowell's third child, youngest son. 5'10" (175cm), slender. Flat grey fur with brown grey markings, pale blue eyes. Quiet and described as 'average'. One child: Draighean. Born December 2, 1872 (139 years old). Dust Spirit.

O'Conall, Draighean - (Dray-un, means blackthorn). Ciaran's daughter. 5'9.5" (173.75cm), fairly large breasts. Ochre fur, cream and dusty grey on front. Bramble Spirit. Born April 17, 1971.

O'Conall, Éirne- (Air'n, means 'of Éire', which is the Gaelic name for Ireland) Ciaran's wife. 5'7" (167.5cm). fairly large breasts. Ochre fur, cream on front. Nightshade Spirit.

O'Conall, Faeden- (Fay-den, means Elf hold, or so Aedan claims) Faelen's grandfather. 6'3" (187.5cm), muscular. Light smoky grey fur with coal grey on back, icy blue eyes. Born May 3, 1900 (111 years old). Two children: Dirk and Kiera. Dirt Spirit. Bodyguard and advisor to Alpha.

O'Conall, Kiera - (Kee-ra, means black) Faelen's aunt. 6'2" (185cm), slender. Very dark grey fur with dark brown and black on back. Gold eyes. Born July 6, 1991. Tar Spirit. She attends University Cork College and studies environmental engineering, with a minor in psychology (to analyse potential threats based on body language). She is on university's judo team and biathlon.

O'Conall, Lorena- Lowell's wife, Faelen's great-great grandmother. 5'5" (162.5cm), middle aged, good health. Dresses in 1890's fashions most often. Dark grey fur, brownish grey markings, gold eyes. Born June 15, 1792 (221 years old). Blizzard Spirit (Falling or blowing snow). Married Lowell in 1861. Housekeeper/cook for the Alpha.

O'Conall, Muireann- (M'way-run, means sea fair) Lowell's second child, eldest daughter. Very beautiful. 5'4" (160cm), slender. Pale blue-grey fur, almost white, with darker grey markings that were almost the same colour of the North Atlantic in winter. Blue-grey eyes. Born February 8,1867 (144 years old). One child: Ainbertach. Wave Spirit.

O'Conall, Roisin- (Ro-sheen means Rose) Aedan's daughter. 6'1" (182.5cm), born November 23, 1983. Dark grey fur, light grey around ears and eyes changing to light brown along bottom of muzzle. Silt Spirit.

O'Conall, Sorcha- (Sur-a-ka, means bright as in light) Aedan's wife. Dark grey fur with sandy fur on face, amber eyes. 6'0" (180cm). Bee Spirit.

O'Conall, Tanai - (pronounced " Tan -ee", means subtle.) Lorena's uncle. Elderly Spirit that has been the manservant of the alphas for over two centuries. Has reddish brown fur that becomes only slightly darker on back.

O'Conall, Tuathla- (Too-uh-la, means princess of the people) Faeden's wife. 5'8" (170cm), broad frame, but fit. Sandy brown fur, with slightly darker brown fur on ears and paws. Sheep Spirit.

Smith, Mary- Liam's mother. Teacher at an elementary school across town, she is kind, patient, and generally understanding. She is divorced from her husband, but retains amicable relations with him. Her parents will have nothing to do with Walter or Liam. Mary's parents and her two sisters live in Sydney, N.S. She lives with her boyfriend, Gary Harper, in Dartmouth (on the other side of Halifax Harbour). 34 years old, 5'6" (165cm), average build, Doberman, brown eyes.

Smith, Walter- Liam's father. An accountant for several mid-sized businesses in town, he is often busy, but tries to ensure he is there for Liam, should he need it. He has recently admitted he is gay, but has yet to go on any dates. He has always been somewhat relaxed about nudity, and is even more so now that his wife has moved in with her boyfriend. They have been in the process of separating for a while, and he knew she was dating, so he isn't upset. He is incredibly practical, pragmatic, a perfectionist, down to earth, and unimaginative. He is somewhat kind, but tends to think in numbers, not feelings. He is fairly relaxed about what Liam does, since Liam is very mature and responsible. He is not as good with tech as Conor, but still is comfortable with it, he uses his Blackberry often (except during supper), and makes sure that Liam keeps him apprised of what he is doing via text. Good at baking.

39 years old, 5'10" (175cm), Rottweiler, slightly pudgy, and wears glasses. His sheathe is 5" (7.5cm), 7.5" (18.75cm) erect, 2.75" (6.9cm) diameter (8.6" or 21.5cm circ), knot 3.5" (8.75cm)diameter (11" or 27.5cm circ), deep red skin, visible veins. Small semi-regular squirts of precum.

Tharkolys, Fellwedyr, Sir- Knight of Oberon. 6'4" (193cm), Elven in appearence, pointy ears, sharp features, very thin. Wears full plate that looks like it was crafted out of leaves made from silver. Has a long sword strapped to his left hip and a shield on his back. Long silver hair often covered by a helm fashioned to look like a wolf head. When not, it's held back by two braids of his own hair wrapped around his head like a circlet. Eyes are solid, almond shaped, pools of gold or silver, depending on light. Silver (Moon) in dark, gold (Sun) in light.

Ballesteros, Miyaki, nee Tsuchida- Japanese Macaque. 38. 5'5" (165cm). Teaches flower arranging at The Ikebana Shop on Quinpool. Associate member of the Monks.

Burke, Bruce- Wolf, Spirit (unknown). 59 yrs old. 5'7" (167.5cm) Father of Grayson, husband of Barbara, son in-law to chief of Sudbury Clan. Member of the Halifax Clan. Pale dusty-grey fur with little change in colour from the top of his head to the front of his throat.

Ap Dafydd, Bran- Wolf, Raven Spirit. 14 yrs old. 5'1" (155cm), Black with brownish-grey splotches, one over left eye. Eyes are very dark brown, almost black. Came from Cardiff Clan, no other Spirits within 3 years of him, mother is pegged to be next alpha.

Cadogan, Laurentia - Wolf, Daisy Spirit. 15 yrs old. 5'2" (157.5cm). White with cream markings that darken to pale yellow-grey in the middle. Green eyes. Considered a very weak Spirit and of very little value.

Cheng, Bao, Si Tai Gung- Panda. A great grandmaster of Kung Fu, the owner of the Silver Dragon Kwoon, which Liam trains at. Liam's first friend. Kwoon is on Oxford St., 2 blocks north of Dalhousie (west side, near Waegwoltic Ave.).

Dali Lama- A mysterious entity known as an Ancient One, he has lost much of his temporal power when China took over Tibet, but has spread his influence much farther than it ever has been. The vast majority of his existence has been concerned with his personal comfort, but he has slowly come to believe in helping others and alleviating suffering.

DeKou, Jim, Si Fu - Polar Bear. A very junior member of the Monks. A Si Fu of the Jade Lotus Kwoon He goes to Dalhousie University and lives in the dorms. He has a black skinned, human, uncircumcised, penis: soft 6.5" (16.25cm), erect 11" (27.5cm) long, 3.5" (8.75cm) diameter. When soft the foreskin extends past the glans, and moves back to cover half the glans when erect. Produces a very slow drizzle of precum.

Fitzgerald, Officer - Lioness police officer in the homicide department of the Halifax Police.

Gomeche, Jezebel - AKA Jocelyn, Arabian Horse. Hunter that led the party in to capture Nats and kill his brothers.

Grand Inquisitor- A mysterious entity known as an Ancient One. He was a "normal" Ancient One, quietly going about his business, until he is converted to Christianity, or suffered some trauma at the hands of a non-Fur. After that point he organized the Knights Templar and, with the backing of the Vatican, he turned the Knights into an anti-magic force, seeking to permit only those belonging to the Catholic Church the right to learn and wield magic. With the rise of the Enlightenment, he has faded into the background, though the Knights remain a potent force and the subject of many conspiracy rumours outside of the Hidden World.

Heimdolf, Lars, Sergeant - Rabbit. Chubby, light brown fur, dark eyes. Doesn't like Mages, quite gruff. Officer in the Halifax Regional Police, was investigating the murder of Lily Marks. A member of the Knights Templar.

Kao, Zhen- A Pixiu who owns an antique shop in Taipei near the Okura Hotel (where Garret always stays in Taipei, ch 128 ). 5'4" (160cm), quadruped. She operates under an illusion of a Li Mao Cat. She's a fan of the Phoenix Monk and is a Monk herself. She has a leonine body covered in whitish-grey fur, a draconic head, and a pair of antlers. Her nose is very broad, covering the whole width of her muzzle, which in turn is as wide as Nathanial's head, and her mouth looks like it could open as wide as a hippo's.

Miller, Bruce- Director of the Department of Diagnostic Imaging. Obsequious when getting money, condescending and self important other times.

McKinley, Robert (Bobby)-Wolf, Spirit (unidentified type). 8 years old.

O'Donovan, Irwyn - Wolf, Boar Spirit. 17 yrs old, 5'8" (170cm). Grizzled brown fur with fading cream stripes that run lengthwise on his back. Moderate, 'tank' type Spirit.

Manifest- He grows far stronger and bulkier, his muzzle distends and grows large tusks. He can go berserk and become virtually immune to pain and almost impossible to take down.

Piper, Jake _ - _ British Bulldog. A general contractor that does a lot of business for the neighbourhood around Nathanial's.

RCMP, Shubenacadie - Officer William Singer, a grey goat. Officer Bokma, black and white Holstein bull.

Shadow Mastiff, Snow- 4'1" (124.5cm) high at shoulder, black fur, purple eyes. He is the alpha of a pack of extra-planar entities that begins to appear in Halifax. The rest of pack stands between 3-3.5' (91.5cm-106.5cm) high. Able to step into shadows and reappear in another one nearby, phase into shadow, and is invisible in darkness. Their barks cause fear in all who hear it.

Snow is primarily like a Tibetan Mastiff, minus the mane. He's very tall, broad, and muscular. He has a shorter muzzle, with jowls that only go as far down as the bottom of his powerful jaw (one designed for crushing or grabbing, not nipping during quick darting attacks). His ears are much like a Rottweiler's, large and droopy, and his tail is also long and whip-like, not curly like the Tibetan's. The way the shadows flow (mist-like) off of him gives the appearance of a thick coat, but he has no fur at all -- his pelt is soft and pliable and isn't fur or like human skin; it'd feel like a cold piece of very thick velvet. The shadows melt away a few inches past his body.

Succubus, Beriatana- TheDemon who attacked the Marks in Chapter 2. 6'11 tall (207.5cm) lithe, dancers body. Reddish skin same colour and quality the grimoire, soft and supple. Wears gold and deep blue dress, which was thin and sheer. Human face, lips of a dusky rose, nose delicate and petite. Her eyes are like a cats, with slit pupils, and a gold-green colour. Her ebony horns curl out from her temples and around her ears. Her tail is long and thin, much like a rats, but still of the same leathery skin. Her wings are large. Cloven hoofs. Long gold hair

Susanna- The chef that was once employed by the Marks family; she taught Nathanial a lot about cooking. Elderly Possum.

Zhaohui- A Kirin. His name means Brightness Returns.

Bully, Mary - Black Poodle. One of the bullies who have taken a dislike to Liam and Nathanial. She is in grade 11, cheerleader, and a Betty groupie.

Chan, Betty Jia-Li - In homeroom 10-A, she is gold-furred Pekinese of Chinese descent. She is extremely vain, from a rich family, and uses her looks to get as much as she can from guys. Even though she is in Grade 10, she counts many older girls as past of her clique. Mary is one. Lives in South End of Halifax, off South Street near Dalhousie, good view of Northwest Arm.

She is very impressed by his ability to get a scholarship to the school as well. She finds Geoff very handsome, but is too professional to hit on him. Walker, Jeff- Chocolate Lab. Grade 10 and in Nathanial's homeroom. 5'4" (162.5cm) tall, pudgy at 120lbs (54.4kg). Fairly quiet, often cut off when he tries to talk. Friends with Michelle. In the Gay Straight Alliance.

Yong, Do-Jin- Amur Leopard. 6'3" (187.5cm). Brilliant gold fur with dark brown spots, large golden-green eyes, long whiskers. Very lean, with taut muscles, little body fat. Stronger than appears, very quick. Monk, beginner chi-adept, turned 18 prior to school year and received black belt on birthday. Farther along in Taekwondo than his level would indicate. Father is Woo Yong and owns a Taekwondo facility on Chebucto Road. In class 12-B. Plays gayageum, guzheng, and koto, and will perform in the auction.

Agent Arrie- Mage in Black. Doberman. Very concerned with paperwork and proper records.

Agent Ella- Mage in Black. Panther. Leader of her team. Has a temper, usually manages to keep it under control. Secretly a softy. Hates dishonesty. Her teams shifts are 6am-2pm, 9am-5pm, and 2pm-10pm. One person always has the phones routed to them overnight, sometimes the swing shift (9-5) goes on duty from 10pm-6am if trouble is expected.

Agent Hugh - Regional Director for Mage in Black. Black Badger. Ella's boss, has a temper, treats others patronizingly and/or disrespectfully.

Agent Jay- Mage in Black. Jackal. Compassionate. Voice of mercy, tries to give others the benefit of doubt. Often acts as counter to Arrie. 5'10", runners build.

Organizations

Arcane Society

The Arcane Society is the single most powerful group, both in terms of raw power and in temporal power. They count 95% of magic using furs as members and collect hefty dues from them. If someone refuses to join, the Society just leaves them alone (usually), but the Knights Templar seem to be the next person knocking on the door. They give two options, die or join them. The Arcane Society sees their mandate as maintaining the division of the mundane and Hidden Worlds, ensuring that no one (other) group upsets the balance of power, preventing the Demons from establishing a foothold in this plane, and keep advancing the understanding of the mystical aspects of reality. Secretly, they seem to be striving for a complete severing of the Hidden and Spirit World from the mundane one. They count no one except the Demons as enemies, but are very distrustful of the Knights.

Demons

The demons are evil creatures from other planes who seek to invade this one and do horrible things. They are kept at bay by the Fey, the Spirits, and the Arcane Society. The Fey and Spirits are the best at keeping them away, but as the natural spaces are destroyed by humanity, they have lost a lot of power. The Society can place wards over the weak points in the dimensional "wall", but can't ward the entire world. This allows more Demons to travel through and work at creating portals between the worlds. The Demons create the only situation in which many of the Hidden World groups (Fey, Spirit, Society, Knights and Hunters) would even consider working together, since only the Fey have many people capable of closing a Demon portal. Demons vary widely in power, intelligence, and methodology.

Fey

The Fey are actually composed of two groups, the Seelie and Unseelie Courts. The Unseelie have been virtually wiped out or banished by the Knights (the Hunters were not around) and the Society after declaring war on all Furs at the beginning of the Industrial Revolution. The Seelie Court wanted give Furs a chance to turn from their destructive ways, but when the Furs didn't and the pace of development spread from of few areas of the world to the whole world in the last thirty years, they realized they no longer have the power to fight, even if the Nightwalkers and Spirits helped. They are now working with groups like Greenpeace and WWF to change humanity's course and preserve what is left. They actively work against the Hunters and Knights.

Hunters of the Damned

Hunters were once a sect of the Knights Templar, but they despise magic beings with a passion and lost patience with the Knights tolerance of other beings if they did not harm Furs. Despite the name, Hunters spend as much or more time hunting Spirits and Fey as they do Demons. They are kept in check by the Arcane Society, who don't want war between the groups. Hunters will still seek out their prey and attempt to goad them into action, so they can claim self defence when they are attacked. They hate, but tolerate, the Arcane Society. They care little for the Knights, but are willing to work together when their purposes align. Hunters will honour a treaty made with the Fey or Spirits until the immediate Demon threat is gone, but will break it immediately after if they can get away with it.

Knights Templar

The Knights Templar were created in the 8th or 9th Century by an Ancient One who became known by the name Grand Inquisitor. The Knights are nominally dedicated to policing all magic, and ensuring the primacy of holy Furs against the 'Godless Beings'. As most of the Arcane Society worship the Olympic Gods, are Pagan, or Buddhists, the Knights distrust or openly hate them. They have their own cadre of Mages under the title Priests. Most of the Knights activities are aimed to diminishing the power of the Society and fighting Demons. They are still willing to work with anyone when battling Demons, and usually honour any truce made for duration of the fight. Such truces always include time for the respective parties to go home. Knights will usually protect the identity of those who aid them against Demons, but will keep them under covert surveillance to ensure they don't pose a threat.

Monks

The Monks are an Eastern based secret society that is dedicated to fostering peace and cooperation between the magic and non-magic beings of the world. They were making great strides in achieving this before the Europeans arrived and brought the Society and Knights. The magic beings faced a lot of persecution from these interlopers and were forced back into hiding. The Monks don't have a hierarchal structure, operating more as set of cooperative groups, commonly based around monasteries, typically kung fu or other martial arts, hence their name.

Nightwalkers

The Nightwalkers aren't a society, as such, but the name given to any magic being that doesn't fall into one of the other categories, such as Vampires, the Undead (usually doesn't include Vampires), and mystical beasts like unicorns. Some large urban centres have secret meeting points, like a members only bar, where they can gather together and openly socialize. Many Nightwalkers turn to the Monks (if they know about them) for assistance in dealing with the other organizations.

Cork Clan

Led by Alpha Luke McDougall,

The Cork Clan of Spirits is located close to Crosshaven, in southern Ireland, on the western shore of Cork Harbour where it opens onto the Atlantic. The forested area of Clan lands covers the point north of Church Bay Road. The Clan houses are near Weaver's Point, which is within a short walking distance. It is rumoured to be the richest Spirit clan in the world, and the second largest in the British Isles.
