The young man paced back and forth in the waiting room, his hand running through his silky orange hair as he traced the footsteps he left on the red carpet. His opal eyes were closed as his mind was going through various techniques and strategic moves for the upcoming battle.

He looked over to his right to see Blaze, his Charizard, leaning on the wall with his eyes closed and arms crossed on his chest. Andreas walked over and looked up at him.

"Haven't been beaten yet? If I recall correctly Blaze, in that last match, Nova had to take up your slack."

Blaze opened his eyes slowly before narrowing them at Andreas making him shiver before looking away.

"Last match happened to be a minor technicality. I was caught off guard by that random attack that trainer called at the last second."

"If you say so," Nova chuckled, popping the last bit of the berry in his mouth before swallowing and licking his paw clean of the tasty berry juice left behind.

Blaze eyed him evilly before snorting.

"If I remember correctly, during the first round, you got knocked out by a Sandslash."

"I got sand in my eye from that Sandstorm move."

"Excuses," Blaze said, closing his eyes again.

Nova gave a growl before getting to his feet and walking towards Blaze, the burners on his back igniting. He didn't get too close as Andreas stopped him.

"Stop it, both of you. This only goes to show that you both need more work as well as me. Nobody is to blame here because it's a team effort."

Nova let out a huff, the flames from his burners slowly dying as he sat back down on the floor.

"Look," Andreas said as they both looked at him. "We all made mistakes during this tournament because of nerves and what not. But the fact is, we made it to the semi-finals regardless of them. Let's just focus our attention on the upcoming battle and prevailing."

They both nodded their heads in agreement before a referee knocked on the wall, catching their attention.

"Five minutes Andreas. Head down to the stage door."

"Okay, thanks." Andreas said.

Andreas took a deep breath before looking at his partners.

"Are you two ready?"

"Always," they responded.

"Then lets get it done."

They headed out of the waiting room and down the hall of the arena towards the stage door where the sounds of cheering and yelling could be heard as they awaited to hear their names announced. Andreas turned and looked at them before giving a smile.

"No matter what happens out there, I'm proud of you two for getting us this far with all your hard work."

They gave a smile and a thumbs up before the announcer began.

"And now for the start of the semi-final round. Up first from the Johto Region, you know him as Firestarter, give it up for Andreas Noel and his pokemon Nova and Blaze!!!"

Andreas walked out to a round of applause, waving a couple of times as he took the stage.

"And his opponent from the Sinnah Region, known as the Heart stealer, lets hear it for Kelly Walker and her pokemon, Twilight and Tornado!!!"

A slim young girl walked out wearing a pair of black slacks, matching shirt and a hat turned backwards. Orange eyes full of life waved at the crowd before hopping onto the stage along side a Flygon and an Absol. She looked at Andreas and gave a smug grin.

"So, you're the famous Firestarter I heard so much about? Leaving your opponents suffering from the burns you leave in your wake. You don't look like much of a challenge." Kelly said, looking him and his pokemon over.

"And I get to meet the famous Heart stealer in person. The way you dazzle your opponents with moves so beautiful it stops the heart. Looks can be deceiving, Miss Walker." Andreas said, giving a smile.

"Oh, you have manners also? I like that in an opponent I'm about to defeat. The other two trainers didn't last a heart beat against my team. Let's see how long you last before I take your heart also."

Twilight and Tornado gave a cry of their own as they hopped on the stage, ready for action. Andreas looked at Blaze and Nova who didn't take their eyes off their opponents.

"You guys ready to do this?"

They nodded their heads and walked forward. Nova's back burners ignited full force while Blaze's tail flame grew large. A referee walked onto the field and raised his hand.

"Let the semi-final round begin. Andreas, are you ready?"

"Ready over here."

"Kelly, are you ready?"

"Born ready."

"Remember, the first team to unable to battle will lose the round. Trainers, let the semi-final round start!!!"

"All right! Tornado, use Air Cutter. Twilight use Ice Beam."

Tornado jumped into the air, using its wings to shoot a crescent wave of power towards its opponent while Twilight let out a howl before letting loose with a powerful Ice Beam.

"Nova, counter the beam with Flamethrower. Blaze, use Air Slash."

Nova's burners went higher before unleashing a wave of fire from his mouth. Blaze launched into the air, using his wings to create the same wave of power as Tornado's as both attacks connected with a bang of power causing the crowd to cheer from the showing.

"Blaze, Nova, get close and use Metal Claw and Focus Punch."

They both took off in a dash towards their targets as Kelly smiled.

"Typical male. Always rushing in without using their head. Let's play along. Tornado, dodge the attacks then use Steel Wing. Twilight, counter with Sucker Punch, then use Iron Tail."

Tornado smiled as she dodged the attacks coming from Blaze. Spotting an opening, she struck Blaze with her Steel Wing attack, knocking Blaze to the ground as he bounced. Nova went to strike his target but was stopped in his tracks from the Sucker Punch, dazing him before letting out a yelp as he went sliding on the ground from the Iron Tail attack that sent him sliding on the ground before stopping next to Blaze.

"Nova!! Blaze!!" Andreas shouted, watching them get up slowly.

"All right ladies, let's steal their hearts," Kelly laughed.

Both Tornado and Twilight smiled before using Attract, catching the boys in a dreamy state.

"Now finish them with style."

Tornado readied a Hyper Beam while Twilight started a Shadow Ball, launching them towards the love struck duo as their attacks caused an explosion making the crowd cheer in response. The smoke cleared as both Nova and Blaze laid there unmoving.

"I win," Kelly grinned. "Guess I stole your heart and your fire. And here I thought you would be more of a challenge then this."

The referee was about to call the match when he noticed Blaze and Nova starting to move slowly. Kelly looked at them in amazement as they stood up on shaky legs, both of them breathing hard. Andreas looked at them before smiling when they looked at him and gave him a nod.

"Stole my fire you say? I have yet to begin to burn you. Okay fellas, time to play hide n' seek."

Blaze took off into the air before letting loose with a Smokescreen attack, covering the stage with thick white smoke. When the smoke cleared, Nova was nowhere to be seen.

"That's it? That was your big comeback?" Kelly laughed.

"We're not done yet. Burn'em Nova."

The ground around Tornado and Twilight began to turn red before a powerful eruption of flames launched them into the air as they screamed in pain.

"Blaze, slam dunk them."

Blaze flew over quickly, grabbing them both and flying high into the air before coming down to earth in a spiral movement and slamming them both hard on the ground.

"Give the ladies a kiss goodnight."

"Twilight and Tornado are no longer able to battle. Therefore, Nova and Blaze are the winners!!"

They both gave a triumphant roar as the crowd cheered them on. Andreas cheered and ran up, giving them both a hug.

"All right, great job you two."

Kelly let out a huff before returning her pokemon to their balls.

"Good show ladies. We'll do better next time."

She walked over and gave Andreas a smile.

"Looks like I got my heart got burned. You did a great job out there."

"As well as you."

"You have some strong pokemon. I looked forward to another match with you Firestarter."

"Congratulations on making the finals Andreas," the referee said walking over.

"Thank you. But I couldn't have done it without my partners."

"The finals will start tomorrow night. If you like, you can watch the other match to see who you'll be facing, or you can head to the hotel room we provide for you."

"Ha, it would take more then that to take us out." Blaze said, sitting on the rug covered floor.

"I can only imagine. That Attract was a good setup for those attacks. She had a good plan. But there was one little flaw in her plan."

"What flaw what that?" Blaze asked.

"She ran into us," Andreas grinned.

Nova and Blaze both grinned at that as Andreas got up.

"I'm going to head to the pokemart and grab a couple of Full Restores for each of you as well as some of your favorites goodies for a job well done. You're free to do what you want, just don't cause any trouble."

"Us? Cause trouble? Come now Andreas, you should know us by now." Nova said, giving a fake pout.

"That's the thing, I do know you by now. Stay out of trouble, and I'll give you both a special treat tonight."

"What kind of treat?" Blaze asked.

"You'll have to behave to find out. I'll be back later," Andreas said, walking out the door.

Nova and Blaze watched him before looking at each other.

"Should we take action tonight?" Nova asked.

"Without a doubt. That Attract only made my want worse."

"But, will Andreas accept it?"

"Doesn't matter if he accepts it or not."

Nova looked at him before down at the ground.

"I don't know Blaze."

"Man up Nova. You want this just as badly as I do. So tonight, you're either with me, or you can watch. Either way, I'm tired of waiting."

"Okay, I'm with you. Just as long as we don't really hurt him."

Andreas walked through the crowded streets, getting pats on the back as well as congrats from various people which he responded with a smile and a thanks. He walked into the Pokemart as the cool A/C air hit him making him shiver a little.

"All right, let's see here," he said, grabbing a small basket and proceeded to gather a few items.

He reached for a bottle of Full Restore when another hand reached for the same thing.

"Thanks. It worked wonders on the last round, but I guess your boys were a lot tougher then we thought."

"Your ladies put on quite them show themselves. Are they feeling better?"

Andreas was quiet as they walked up to the checkout. Kelly eyed him before pinching his cheek.

"You don't have to feel sorry for them. They knew what would happened if they lost and they'll just have to accept it."

"No biggie," she smiled, paying for her items. "Say, if you're not doing anything later, how about coming over to my hotel room for a bit before I head back home?"

"Sure, sounds like fun," Andreas said.

"Great. I'll see you in a little while," Kelly said.

Andreas watched her leave before chuckling. Paying for the items he picked up, he headed back for the hotel room. Her blush deepened before she stood up and walked a couple of steps away. Blaze grinned before standing up and walking over to her.

"I guess I can go for a friendly flight with someone as beautiful as you. But don't get any ideas. I already have my eyes set on somebody."

She turned around and gave a smile along with a nod.

"Understandable. Whoever it is, is one lucky person."

"Well then my lady, after you," Blaze said, giving a small bow.

Tornado let out a giggle before taking off in the air followed by Blaze.

"So mister Noel, what was your motivation in entering the tournament?" Kelly asked, sitting on the bed.

Andreas smiled and shrugged his shoulders sitting on the couch.

"I don't know really. Guess I wanted to try a new experience and learn new things."

"I can see the good in that. Nothing wrong with learning new tricks."

"I wanted a rematch against a trainer that entered here. He literally made a fool of us when we battled against him."

"I see. Did you happened to get your rematch?"

"Oh yeah. First round knockout," Kelly grinned. "Twilight got the killing blow. Ain't that right girl?"

"Absol," Twilight said with a smile.

They all shared a laugh as they talked about various things before Andreas looked at the time.

"Wow, its getting late. I better head back and check on the boys. They have a tendency to get into trouble."

"My girls are the same, especially Twilight. You wouldn't believe some of things I had to get her out of."

"I can believe it. After all, she is a disaster type pokemon."

Andreas got up, giving Twilight another friendly scratch around her ear making her murr and headed for the door. Kelly got up and followed him as he walked out into the hallway.

"Thanks for spending some time with me," Kelly said, leaning on the door.

Kelly gave a smile before hugging him which he returned.

"I wish you luck in the finals. Wish I could see you in action but my boat leaves tomorrow morning."

"I hope to battle against you again Kelly."

Twilight gave a grin before hopping off the couch and onto the bed, patting the open spot beside her.
