Wounded Upon the Battlefield
As the first round entered his chest the wolf came to his sences. He quietly whimpered to himself and choked back the tears, he wouldn't give these bastards the pleasure in seeing him in pain or begging for his life. The man with the AK backed off and the speech resumed. The wolf assumed he was being called the furred-abomination or against the will of Allah. His kind were never fully accepted in these parts of the world, furs being executed daily. Which ironicly was what his squad had been tasked to do, save the furs trapped in the area the headline at the top of his briefing. The speech stopped again and the gunman stepped forward for a second time. The wolf looked into the man's eyes and bared his teeth a slight growl escaping his muzzle. The man laughed as he pulled the trigger, again the muzzleflash took him away from the cave.
He went back to his college days.
The wolf pulled off the knot with a slight moan, Thomas had been rough last night, and his tailhole paid the price. It's not like he didn't enjoy it, he wished he could relive it, it was just the inability to fully function. The timid fox wasn't quite himself last night. Carlos guessed it was because the fox knew that the wolf liked it rough, but it seemed like there was more to it. Carlos rolled around and licked the fox's muzzle.
"Morning, Kit."
Thomas' eyes fluttered open and he smiled at his lover. "Good morning to you too hun," The wolf sat up in bed and looked down at the content fox.
"Soooo, what's for breakfast?"
the fox groaned and looked up at him and looked up at Carlos. "You ever cook in this relationship?"
the wolf giggled "Only if you ask, my love,"
"Then cook for your foxy,"
The wolf got up and yelped as the fox slapped his ass, hard.
"Hurry up,"
After twenty minutes of horrible morning television, and a little angry birds on his phone, Carlos walked back into the bedroom with a plate piled with ham and eggs, and a cup of coffee.
the fox took a sip of coffee, "Not eating?"
the wolf shook his head, "nope I start basic today and they told me no breakfast,"
the fox groaned and ate his breakfast. He hated that carlos was going into the army but he supported him because he knew that the wolf loved the military. Carlos left at the end of the term and that was fast approaching. Carlos got dressed into his fatigues while the fox just sat in bed and watched. It was his birthday today and he didn't have class so he was going to go to the mall and look around. The two walked out of the dorm together, holding paws. They walked onto the campus and noticed Christine in a tree poking at the flowers.
"Destroying nature are we, sweetheart?"
Christine looked down at the two furs, "Nope just thinking,"
About?" asked the wolf.
Christine pounced on top of him and stretched, causing him to yelp as his tailhole hit the ground.
"How comfy you would be as a pillow, frankly you aren't as comfortable as i thought,"
The fox looked down in confusion as the tigress flipped over and closed her eyes, leaving his mate squirming under her.
"You gonna get off me anytime soon?" the wolf said his voice slightly muffled.
the tigress got off of him and hugged the fox.
"so where's Damien at?"
the tigress groaned, "that lucky bastard doesn't have class today,"
Thomas giggled "well neither do I,"
Christine gave the fox a look of envy and slight hatred, Thomas just giggled. Carlos swore and gave Christine a hug and Thomas a kiss. He ran of yelling that he had to be on base ten minutes ago. Christine gave Thomas a hug and went to class. As Thomas walked back to the dorm he realized ther was a note in his pocet
Thomas,
Meet me in the lounge at four, I am buying and I have a surprise for you, PS: bring that jacket of yours you look cute in it.
Yours in Eternity,
Carlos
Thomas sighed he hated the jacket but he wanted the wolf to be happy so he was going to wear it. Thomas got home, read the note again, watched television, and slept. Thomas growled as his alarm clock woke him from an exelent dream. he got out of bed, got dressed, and headed for The Lounge. The Lounge was USF's campus restuarant and the food was okay but it smelled heavily of jock musk. The fox sat down and waited for the wolf. A pair of paws clamped over his eyes, and he grinned.
"Carlos?"
"Who else, my love"
The wolf placed a soft kiss on the fox's muzzle and sat down across from him and grabbed Thomas' paws. They looked into each other eyes, not speaking until the waitress came and broke the silence, asking for their orders. The pair ordered their food and Carlos began to kiss Thomas' paw, causing the fox to giggle. An olw and his wife looked back at the two in disgust and the male whistled to them.
"hey, knock it off there are children present,"
Carlos looked over and bared his teeth to the older couple. "don't like it don't look old man,"
The owl turned around muttering to himself. the two went back to nuzzling and looking into the other's eyes. The waitress brought their food, A grilled chicken burger for the fox, and a greek salad for the wolf. As they ate a look of guilt flashed in the wolf's eyes.
"what's wrong hun?"
The wolf sighed "It's nothing,"
Thomas was worried but he trusted Carlos, they finished eating and Carlos grabbed the fox's paw.
"I still have that surprise remember?"
Together they walked back to their dorm. Carlos glanced over his shoulder at Christine who was giggling in the corner with Damien. As he pushed the door open Carlos whispered into the fox's ear. "Happy Birthday my love,"
There were rose petals strewn across the floor and a small table at the center of the room. Tears formed in Thomas' eyes and he hugged the wolf. The scent of cake mixed with roses filled the room, as did gold and black balloons. On the table was a small red velvet birthday cake, and two plates. Carlos grinned, the hundred dollars he paid Christine was the best investment he made in a long time. As they ate the cake Carlos' eyes flashed the same sad look.
"Hun I know you're holding something from me, please tell me."
The wolf sighed and placed his head in his paws, "they're shipping me out in a week,"
Thomas sighed and brushed his fur "That soon?"
the wolf just whimpered and nodded, Thomas sat with the shaking canine, holding him, telling him it would be alright. He knew it wouldn't but he lied, he knew that some of the toughest months of the wolf's life lay in front of him but he tried to comfort the wolf as much as he could. In truth the fox would miss his lover more than anything, but he wasn't going to make the wolf feel worse by telling him to stay, to be with him, that would be selfish. Carlos cried buring his head into the fox, he didn't want to leave but he had to. he had been training for three years for this moment and he was ready. The week passed quickly and the two waited outside of the wolf's gate. Others were gathered with their loved ones. There were other canines, felines, equins, humans, and various other species. Carlos reached into his pocket and pulled out a necklace, it was rosary. It had ebony beads, and instead of the usual Crist statue there was a gold pentagram. The captain called for boarding.
"Hun, I have to go, take care of that it was my mothers, I love you,"
Carlos planted a kiss on the fox's forehead and walked toward the gate, tail tucked between his legs. Thomas kept his mouth shut, for fear if he said anything all the begging would come out, but he knew no amount of begging would keep the wolf at his side. Thomas turned over the pentagram and there were words engraved on the metal.
"Yours in Eternity,"
He looked back at the gate "I love you too babe," He let his tears fall as he walked back to his car. The only thing waiting for him was the now empty dorm.
The wolf didn't cry out as the second round entered his chest. He just looked into the camera, tears gone, his fear gone, and worst of all the will to fight had left him. Now the wolf welcomed death with open arms, ready to fall into sweet oblivion. The only thing left on his mind as the man put the .45 at his temple was the smell of rose petals and the smile of his lover.
