Chapter 1
"Well, this world is different. Shit! The portal, oh well time must move a little slower here or something." I stated looking at the closing dimensional rift. I wanted to see if Pokemon really did exist here. "Well, I'm here until they re-open it or I do. Hmmm.... Wait, what's that sound?" I said in puzzlement, taking out my M200 and looking through the scope to where a massive energy discharge had come from. I saw a pokemon battle going on. "Well what do-ya know, they do exist here. Where's the other trainer and..... Oh no."
The other trainer was dead, the raichu and nine tails that were fighting were in it to the death, or at least as far as I could tell. "One of my modified sedatives shots should take them down, ooooooh ouch!" I said as I saw the nine tails slam into the tree. Usually I feel a professional detachment but something was different. I quickly loaded the ammo into the clip and secured it. "Let's see.... One and a half miles distance, fifteen mile and hour cross wind, firing south at four degrees under the horizon, my own elevation at about fifteen hundred feet up, slight updraft. Ok, easy enough." I adjusted the scope to how the ballistics computer defined, after calculating the weight and speed of the bullet I was using.
*BANG!*
"Damn that's loud. But one shot, two downs. Must have bounced off the raichu and hit the live trainer on the center of his head. Hmm hmm hmm, should have guessed." I spread my wings, a good forty feet arcing out from my body. "Let's see if I can fly here." I said playfully to myself. I packed up my case and strapped it to my back after putting the rifle into it. I launched myself into the air, and with one powerful beat, my wings sent me flying in the direction I desired.
(To those out there who have not handled high powered rifles like the M200 Intervention, the kickback is painful. Also, any questions about who, or really what the main character is will be answered as the story progresses, most likely in later chapters. Any abilities that you would like to be featured by him, just say so and I'll see if it would fit him.)
I landed a few seconds later. "Raichu! Thunder bolt! Full power!" The boy screamed, the raichu was already up! The attack hit me hard, I wasn't ready for it so it brought me to the edge of consciousness. "I hear the Beedrill here like the taste of blood. You'll make a good meal for them, even if you're not human." He said cruelly. I folded my wings to my back, not able to fully retract them, I slid them under the body armor I was wearing. I guess it acted like a lighting rod for the raichu's attack. 'I have to get to the nine tails' I thought. Odd I wanted to protect it with my life. The boy had long since left as I crawled over to it. I collapsed on top of it as the darkness of unconsciousness gripped me, taking away the immense pain that was raking my body. The last thing I remember before falling into the black nothingness was movement underneath of me and the nine tails came to.
I woke up what I guessed was a few hours later. Judging by the pain I still felt, I guessed something was suppressing my regenerative capabilities. My case was off, and there was pressure on my legs that I could only Identify as just that, pressure. I opened my eyes just enough to gauge the light in the room. I shifted my eyes to that of a normal persons' because of the intensity.
I propped myself up on my elbows, looking down to see what was on my legs. It was none other then the nine tails. Over by the side, a nurse with two red lopes which I though was her red hair came over, only to stop when the nine tails started growling at her. "Enough, she only wants to help." I growled at the Pokemon. It looked up at me with extreme surprise that I was already awake.
"Are you ok, sir? This nine tails carried you in on her back. Once we had gotten you onto the bed, she jumped up there with you and growled at anyone that came close." The nurse said.
"Yeah, I'm fine. You said 'she' right?" The nurse nodded to my question. "Why she brought me here, I don't know. But I'm grateful none-the-less. And as to why she's guarding me so protectively, it must be because I saved her life earlier. I don't condone senseless killing." I said softening my voice.
The nurse looked at me awkwardly. "What do you mean by that?" She asked.
"The person I saved her from had the intent to kill her like he had done to her trainer. There wasn't a scratch on either him or his raichu so it looked like he was to blame." The nurse starred at me, turning white with fear. "If there are any officers or law enforcement of any type, I'd like to give them the description of the assailant so a warrant for his arrest can be put out." I said monotonously.
At that point, I turned to the nine tails and started stoking her back softly, noting the silky feel of her fur. She looked unfazed by the mention of her trainers death. "Thanks, by the way. For getting me to a place other then out in the forest. Now, if you don't mind letting the good nurse here treat me. I don't care if you stay there as long as you let her give me a going-over, incase there's a wound I don't feel." The nine tails nodded to me, then to the nurse. I knew Pokemon are intelligent, but I was impressed by this little display.
The nurse, called Nurse Joy as she pointed out, started taking off the body armor and I immediately retracted my wings into my body, (Kind of like retractable claws) before she saw them. I didn't was anyone to know what I was. She started looking me over, spying the burn mark where the lightning had struck me. She dusted it off then gasped as the wound vanished. "It's ok, I'm a really fast healer." I told her reassuringly.
"That wasn't fast healing, that was regeneration!" She gasped.
The nine tails stood up and put a paw on my shoulder, the farthest one from me, to pull me down so she could see. She lightly nosed the spot that had been hit, eliciting a small gasp from me because it hurt. "It might look all better, girl, but believe me it still hurts." I said, putting an arm around her back to steady myself. She lightly yipped in surprise at the sudden reaction when the nurse didn't cause any pain, but she did. 'How come she could effect me so much?' I thought to myself curiously.
She must had been upset because she started licking the side of my face fervently, as if to apologize. "You're ok as far as I can tell, I'll go get officer Jenny. The station is quite a distance from here so she'll be here in about thirty minutes." Nurse Joy said, leaving the room.
"She wasn't my trainer." I stopped dead. The nine tails spoke again, "I'm sorry about your back. What?" She asked looking at me.
"How the... But Pokemon can't.... But you just.... Hmmm." She tilted her head to the side.
"Oh sorry, I forgot that you were unconscious when I first said something to you. Yes, I can talk, yes it took forever for me to learn, and yes, I don't want anyone else to know so if you keep your mouth shut, I'll make it worth your while." She said seductively, giving me a sexy smile and look.
"If I didn't know any better, I'd say you were just hitting on me." I responded mischievously. I took on a serious posture. "What about the girl that was killed?"
"Oh, um..." She started, looking pensive, "well, to put it bluntly, she was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Don't get me wrong or anything, it's not like I'm uncaring, it's just that it doesn't really phase me." She said looking worried that I might not like the answer.
"Don't worry about it. As you could see by the gun case and holsters, I've seen plenty of death. Even though I try to prevent it, it still happens." I said, the worried look still on her face.
"Are you a mercenary?" She asked. The question was valid.
"Yes, and no. I only do high priced contracts that have good results. Other then that, I'm a researcher. I hope that doesn't bother you, after all, I tried to use a sedative on your attacker." Now I was worried about what she thought of me. 'What's wrong with me,' I thought, 'her opinion shouldn't matter in the least bit to me.' She bared her teeth.
The next thing I knew, she had her paws on my wrists holding me down. "HAVE YOU KILLED ANY INNOCENTS???" She yelled at me. "TALK!" I couldn't explain it, a great sadness welling up inside of me.
"Yes," I said going into tears, "when they controlled me. I wasn't born like everyone else. They grew me in a test tube, raised me to kill, anyone and everyone who was in my way..." Tears were beginning to form on my eyes. She had a look of disbelief on her face. "I was a weapon, they said, worth nothing more then a skilled worker. They said I was less then they were, nothing compared to them. But I out lasted them, fought harder, longer, more efficiently... They made a perfect soldier. But that changed when I met her." I said, sadness again welling up inside of me, tears beginning to flow from my eyes.
(The story on how this guy began is written, I just have to type it up.)
I remembered her, my first lover. "She was a fennec fox, or half that and half human. She was different, loving, instead of hating. She ended up as my technician, took care of the mechanical aspect of me. She started taking me out of cryostasis at night, taught me how to feel, and what it is to be loved. After a certain point, we escaped. They hunted us down though, and killed her in front of me. I was helpless to do anything." At this point, she was crying with me as she understood that it wasn't my choice to do what I did. I closed my eyes, tears sliding from my face steadily. I could feel her shaking slightly above me as she realized the entirety of the situation.
"How long has it been?" She quietly asked.
"I was with her for about ten years, today is only the second anniversary of her death." I shakily managed to say.
"I'm... I just... I'm so sorry, if I had any idea," She started, but I cut her off.
"You didn't know, but now you do. She was the only girl who ever gave more then a shit about me. To everyone else, I was either a tool or a weapon. And to a few, an abomination." I looked her dead in the eye, a serious expression on my face even as tears slid down it. "Just let me leave. I'll never bother you aga..." I was cut short by her paw on my mouth.
"I care, now at least because I know the story. I'm sorry for misjudging you so much. I just, well..." I put my free hand up to her face and stroked the soft, silky fur across her cheek.
"I understand, but something weird.... You're the first person I've ever told that too." I said, a smile playing across my face.
"Thank you. Do you really trust me that much?" She asked lightly.
"Well, you guarded my unconscious body and you have an affinity for the lives of the innocent. That's all I need to know." I noticed a strange smell in the air. With my nose being so sensitive, it could be anything. Then I noticed Nurse Joy standing in the doorway. "How long have you been there, Nurse Joy?" I asked. The nine tails looked over at her.
"Well, when she asked if you were a mercenary. I'm sorry for intruding, I won't tell anyone what has transpired here." She said as she left quickly.
"Do you want to be a Pokemon trainer?" The nine tails asked me. The question caught me off guard.
"What do you mean?"
"Well," She started, "You just showed me the deepest form of trust I've ever seen. Confiding a secret like that, in me no less, makes me feel comfortable in your presence. That and I still owe you my life." She finished, a playful smile appearing on her face.
"Why do you ask?"
After a moment, "Because I want to be your first pokemon." I was speechless. Her smile faded quickly because I didn't show any change. "Should have used a little tack." She said, getting off of me.
"Sorry, I was just surprised by your offer. Do you have a name I can call you?" I asked hesitantly. She turned, a smile on her face and her tails waving around. 'Is she... blushing?'
"Well, I don't have a name. You can give me one, if you want to." She sounded a little nervous.
I gave it a little thought. She was sweet, innocent herself I'd imagine. Quite protective too. I got an idea. "How about, Angel?"
Her response was obvious joy. She pounced on me and began to lick my face enthusiastically. I lightly laughed in response to the sudden assault from her tongue. It was so soft and warm, the touch so tender. It was getting me a little aroused. Then officer Jenny walked in.
"Hello, my name is officer Jenny. I herd you have information on the murder out in the woods a few miles from here?" I looked at Angel.
"You carried me that far? You really are an angel." I said, she smiled in return.
"That's sweet. So she saved you after you saved her, I take it?" Officer Jenny asked politely.
"Yeah, hold on. I snapped a picture of the guy with my rifle." Jenny looked uneasy that I had such an advanced high powered rifle once she saw it. I took out the ballistics computer and uploaded the picture. She took out a SD flash drive and handed it to me. Once I had downloaded the picture to the card, she took it, thanked me for my help, and left. Angel didn't say a word the whole time.
"We should get a room other then this hospital room. And maybe get to know each other more." She hopped off of the bed, walking seductively, and giving me a full view of her swollen cunt. 'I must be in love, nothing else can explain this mile high feeling I get whenever she does something suggestive to me.' I thought, following her out the room.
Nurse Joy was at the front desk. "Do you have a two bed room for Angel and me?" She took out a small book. After flipping through a few pages, she reached under the desk and took out a key. "It's down the hall, to the left."
"Spacious, two beds, I like it." I said. "Well, I'm tired as anything. Here, you can sleep in the bed closest to the door and watch the T.V. if you'd like." I began, "I'm just going to sleep." With that, I climbed into the other bed. She simply turned off the light and climbed into hers.
"Night." She said with a disappointed tone on her song-like voice.
I was asleep after about an hour. It was a good light sleep, half awake but resting none the less. About thirty minutes past ten, my bed shifted, waking me up entirely. I looked around for a minute before I realized that silky fur was wrapped around me. When my gazed shifted to directly in front of me, it met deep blue eyes. (Of course, since it was dark my eyes had shifted to the demonic aspect to see better, but she didn't notice.)
"Angel, what are you doing?" I asked in a soft, loving voice, feeling more comfortable then I ever have for the past two years.
"I couldn't sleep without you. I didn't want to say anything in case you would reject me, but I think it's ok now. Since you've wrapped your arms around me so lovingly. It's funny, you haven't even told me your name and... well..."
"What is it Angel?"
"I love you."
A silence passed between us. I didn't know what to say, I was just so happy. "I love you too." I said in a response that was barely a whisper. She had her tails holding me to her tightly. "By the way, call me Joseph." She smiled up at me. Then, she did something unexpected, she kissed my chin. She pulled her muzzle back, embarrassed. I pulled her to my mouth and kissed her deeply, reveling in the feeling of her tongue pushing past my lips and into my mouth. Her taste was amazing, a smooth, almost intoxicating flavor that I couldn't describe. I played and wrestled with her tongue in out mouths, passion igniting, love building. She explored the entirety of my mouth, paying attention to the enlarged canines, I did the same in hers, feeling the rigid roof of her warm muzzle. She broke the kiss and cuddled into me, her warmth and soft fur encasing my body as she murred quietly.
For the first time in two years, I felt loved.
