What You Need to Do By Skreft L'Mont The grey furred lupine sat at the bar in the tavern, nursing a mug of ale, and wondering just how he ended up in this predicament. He drank slowly, enjoying the warm liquid slide down his throat. He looked around the tavern, looking for anyone that might be interested in the price on his head. He sighed, and concentrated on the events leading up until this day. Two months ago, he was manning a post on the border, the next week he was on the run from his superiors. One couldn't blame him, though. A writ of execution was placed on all the officers in the military, after a coup had forced the king out of power. Several officers had been caught and executed on the spot, while the more wily ones had slipped through the grasp of what came to be known as the "League of Assassins." He laid his head down on the bar, whimpering slightly as he thought about his comrades that had been executed. His armor felt heavy under his cloak, and the short sword that hung at his side felt like a burden he no longer wanted to carry. Truth be told, he just wanted to go home, and be left to his own devices - instead of on the run from the assassins. A voice to his left shook him out of his thoughts. "Mind if I sit here." He sat up, and looked at the speaker - a red fox, slightly shorter than he, and wearing a brown vest and leather pants. He sighed. "I don't mind." He said quietly. "Thanks. A real bugger of a night, eh?" The fox said with a straight face. "You could say that." He replied. "The name's Gerad." The fox stated, offering a paw. "Merrick." The grey wolf said, giving the fox's paw a shake. He noticed the fox had a rather strong grip, probably indicating he worked in the fields. "Are you military?" Gerad asked. "Ex-Military. I resigned my post earlier today." Merrick lied. "Must've been lonely, being on the road all the time. Are you mated?" Gerad asked. "No. I never had time." Merrick said. He looked the fox over, taking in the view. He could smell slight arousal off the fox, but the last thing on his mind was a partner to share his bed for the night. "That's too bad. A handsome fellow like yourself could have the pick of anyone, if he so chose." Gerad said with a smile, and a slight twinkle in his eye. "I thank you for your compliment. You're rather striking yourself. Forgive me, though. I'm not interested in company for the night." Merrick said, smiling sadly. "I understand. Perhaps you would just be interested in someone to drink with, though. You seem rather down, and maybe we could just drink and talk." Gerad said, smiling. "I wouldn't mind that." Merrick said, smiling back. He started to feel slightly more at ease. The laid back, yet flirty, attitude of Gerad was starting to influence him. "So, where are you from?" Gerad asked, taking a pull of what looked like mead. "Westerfield. It's a small village about a two days ride from the Capital." Merrick said. "What about you?" "I'm from The Capital. I work in a blacksmith's shop." Gerad said, wiping mead off his muzzle. "I've heard of Westerfield. A cousin of mine moved there a few years back." "Blacksmith's shop, huh. Are you one of the assistants?" Merrick asked. "Yes. I do most of the prep work. The smith, a raccoon named Tythe, is a master craftsman." Gerad said. "I see. I'm surprised that you're not at work right now." Merrick said. "He let me have the week off. Work has been slightly slow." Gerad said. His voice dropped to a whisper. "Rumor has it that the coup cancelled all contracts for weapons." "I can understand why. The group that overthrew the king probably doesn't want to be overthrown themselves." Merrick whispered back, a slight smile on his lips. "So tell me, are you mated?" "Me, no. Um, Tythe keeps me too 'busy' for me to be mated." Gerad said, looking down. "Oh? Oh!" Merrick said, realizing what the fox meant. "I'm guessing that you don't just work in his shop, then. I hope he doesn't treat you badly. You seem like a good sort." "It's ok. He treats me well, but he does have his needs. It does kind of disturb me, since he is roughly twenty years my senior." Gerad said, curling his tail around his legs. "I'm sorry I brought it up." Merrick said, frowning a little. "It's quite all right. We all have to do what we need to get by. Besides, he does pay rather well, and had taught me a lot about metalworking. He said that I might own my own shop someday." Gerad said. "Well, maybe he isn't just using you for gratification, then." Merrick said, slightly bitterly. "I asked to work in his shop when I was but a kit. He took me in, fed me, paid me, clothed me, and taught me a lot. He only asks for some 'fun' once in awhile." Gerad said. "I apologize for overstepping my boundaries, then. I didn't mean to imply that you weren't happy." Merrick said, folding his ears back. "It's quite alright. Like I said, we all have to do what we can to survive. He does treat me well." Gerad said, smiling weakly. Merrick didn't know what to say to this, so he stayed quiet. He took a long pull of his ale, emptying his mug. He set the mug on the bar, and waved to the bartender to get his attention. The bartender, a bear that appeared to be in his forties, took the mug away, refilled it, and set it back in front of Merrick, who slid two silver coins at the bear. The bear smiled, and went back to cleaning glasses. He drank deep, and nearly choked when he felt a paw rubbing his thigh. He looked over at Gerad, raising an eyebrow. "If you want some company for the night, I'll be upstairs." Gerad said, then ran his paw over Merrick's crotch. Merrick squirmed, and watched as the fox hopped off the stool, strolled across the tavern, and disappeared up the stairs. "You're not the first that that fox has been flirting with tonight." The bartender said. "I'm not?" Merrick blinked. "No. Earlier, I saw him with an older raccoon." The bartender said. "That might be the raccoon he works for." Merrick said. "Could be. I'm just saying that you shouldn't expect much from that fox." The bartender said. "I don't. I just expect him to be good company for the night." Merrick said. "Relationships are overrated in my opinion." The bartender said, then went back to cleaning glasses. Confused by the bartender's statement, Merrick went back to nursing his ale. He thought about what he said earlier to the fox. He wasn't looking for company that night, but maybe, just maybe, it would relax him. He finished his ale, wiped his muzzle off, and got up from his stool. "Going after him, are we?" The bartender asked. "Aye. I figure a good lay will relax me a bit." Merrick said. "Understood. Just don't get too attached." The bear said, slightly grinning. "I'll try not to." replied with a grin, then slid two more silver over to the bear. "Thanks for the advice." He said, and walked across the tavern before the bear could respond. At the top of the stairs was a short hallway, with several doors leading off. He sniffed around, catching the fox's scent, and knocked on the appropriate door. "Come on in." Gerad said from the other side of the door. Merrick walked into the room. Gerad was sitting on the bed, wearing nothing, but he had a pillow over his lap. He smiled as Merrick walked in. "Changed your mind, I see." He said. "I thought about what you said. About doing what you need to survive. I'm tired of hiding who I am. Tired of running. Mostly, I'm just tired since it's late." Merrick said. "I understand. We can just sleep if you want. I don't mind." Gerad said, a slight amount on disappointment in his voice. "I've also been thinking of what I said earlier, about not wanting company. That's not totally true. I just didn't want to mate with someone, and have them think that I wanted them as a mate. I have too much going on to worry about a mate." Merrick said. "What if ran into someone that just wanted a quick mating for pleasure?" Gerad said, uncovering himself. His shaft had fully extended from his sheath. Merrick looked at it, and licked his lips. "I never said I didn't like to mate just for pleasure." Merrick said, smiling broadly. He slid his cloak off, revealing battered leather armor underneath. "Let me help you take your armor off." Gerad said, then stood up. He walked up behind Merrick, and unbuckled the straps on his back. He kissed the back of Merrick's neck, and ran his paws over the wolf's thighs. Merrick shivered, and unbuckled his sword belt, dropping it next to the bed with a loud thud. He raised his arms, and Gerad pulled his armor up over his head, tossing the heavy leather over into the corner of the room. Merrick turned around, wearing only a simple linen shirt and leather pants, He grabbed Gerad around the waist, and pulled him closer, kissing him deeply on the muzzle, exploring the inside with his tongue. Gerad resisted slightly, keeping his muzzle slightly closed, and only letting Merrick run his tongue over his teeth. Merrick slightly growled, and Gerad chuckled slightly, opening his muzzle more, and allowing the wolf to explore his muzzle. Merrick felt paws on the front of his trousers, untying the laces. He pressed against the paw, his member pressing against it, and moaned slightly as it was squeezed. His trousers slid to the floor, and he ground his member against the belly of the slightly smaller fox. He ran his paws down to the fox's rump, squeezing it gently as he kissed him, and ran a paw under his tail, brushing a finger against his tail hole, making the fox moan with desire. Gerad pressed his rump against the wolf's paw, moaning, and caught the wolf's tongue with his own, suckling it. He broke the kiss pushing the wolf slightly away, and allowing him to pull his shirt off. He saw a pendant around the wolf's neck, signifying his rank in the military, and smiled. Gerad kissed his way down the wolf's body, stopping at his sheath, and taking his member into his muzzle, running his tongue over it, and smiling to himself as he heard the wolf moan. Merrick placed his paws on the fox's head, moaning softly, and thrusting gently into the fox's muzzle. He gasped when he felt the fox's tongue rub over his slowly expanding knot, and murmured, "that's a good fox.." He panted softly, and whined softly when Gerad pulled his muzzle away from his shaft. "I want you in me." Gerad said, looking up at the wolf. He stood up, and laid on the bed, facing away from the wolf, his tail draped over his side. Merrick laid behind him, licking his ears, and slowly pushed his member into Gerad, stopping after the head parted the fox's tail hole, eliciting a gasp from the fox. "Did I hurt you?" Merrick asked. "No...well, a little. It's been awhile for me." Gerad said, ears back. "I'll go slow, then." Merrick said, and started to push slowly into the fox. He licked at the fox's ears, and rubbed his chest as he slowly sank inch after inch of his member into the fox. Gerad hissed slightly as Merrick's wolfhood slid into him, and he felt his heart racing. After Merrick's member completely slid in, Merrick stopped, and let Gerad adjust. "You're the biggest I've taken." Gerad said, panting in a mix of pleasure and pain. "I guess the raccoon isn't this big." Merrick said with a smile. "No....but he's longer...and kind of has a weird shape.." Gerad said. "Weird how?" Merrick asked. "He's kind of scythe shaped...it feels weird...but not this good.." Gerad said, turning to look at the wolf. "You're just saying that." Merrick said, chucking. "No. You really do feel go-Oh!" Gerad exclaimed as Merrick started to slowly thrust into him. He felt Merrick's arms squeeze slightly around him as the wolf thrusted, and he pressed his rear back against the wolf's thrusts, moaning softly. His foxhood dripped pre all over the sheets as the wolf mated with him, and he resisted wrapping his paw around his own shaft. Merrick mated with the fox, slowly thrust in and out of him. He slid his paw down to the fox's member, and started to slowly stroke it, moaning softly as the fox pushed back to meet his thrusts. He kissed the fox on the cheeks as he mated with him, and smiled inwardly. He'd never been with anyone this tight before, and he was letting himself enjoy it. Gerad moaned loudly as the wolf slowly stroked his member. He clenched his tail hole around the wolf's member enjoying the feel of the larger canid's cock inside him. He reached his paw back, pulling on the wolf's rump, urging him to mate faster and harder. "Faster...Oohh...Harder....Ohhh..." He said, feeling the wolf speed up. Merrick thrusted faster and harder, his knot pressing against the fox's tail hole. He whispered into the fox's ear. "I want to tie with you." The fox nodded, and pressed his rear against the wolf. Merrick thrusted as hard as he could against the fox, making the fox yelp as his knot forced it's way into the tight confines of the fox, and Merrick howled loudly as he reached orgasm, spraying the insides of the fox with his come. He stroked the fox faster, and heard him yelp, then felt the wet stickiness on his paw. Gerad yelped as he came, and murred at the feeling of the wolf's seed inside him. He turned his head towards the wolf. "I love you." He said. The wolf came to his senses, jerked out of his afterglow by what the fox said. He pulled back, causing the fox to yelp loudly at their tie. "You what?!?" He said loudly. "I'm just kidding. I just wanted to see how you would react." Gerad said with a grin. "Bastard." Merrick said with a smile. "Don't make me pull out." "Please don't. It's been a very long time since anyone tied with me." Gerad said, with a serious expression. "I won't. I think I'll sleep just like this though." Merrick said with a smile. "Mmmm, I think that would be nice. Goodnight wolf." Gerad said. "Goodnight, fox." Merrick said. They laid their heads down, and fell into a deep sleep. * * *

The next morning, the owner of the tavern was horrified to find the body of a naked wolf in the bed of one of the rooms, a short sword through his chest. The wolf's armor was in a pile on the bed, and the scent of a fox was in the air. A piece of paper lay on the nightstand of the room, signifying that the wolf was executed by a member of the League of Assassins. A personal note lay under the writ of execution stating that the wolf had actually died with a smile on his face, and his executioner was gravely sorry that he had to execute such a fine bed partner. Gerad was long gone by the time the notes were discovered, and he felt a pang of guilt as he looked at Merrick's pendant. He didn't want to kill the wolf, but he knew Tythe would understand. The offer of two hundred gold coins for the pendant was hard to pass up, especially since it would definitely pay for an expansion to the blacksmith's shop. Gerad looked at the pendant again. "Like I said, Merrick: You got to do what you can to survive." --- This has been going through my head for the last couple weeks. I just needed to get it out. I might turn this into a series, who knows.
