Pen, love and Pokemon

Prologue

This is the prologue to the first long story I ever wrote. It's going to show the humorous adventure of the young man Zeke, a naive good-for-nothing with a big heart and serious drawing urges. Additionally, this story WILL contain a developing love between trainer and Pokemon in later chapters, so better be ready for some M/M action.

Please excuse my mistakes and give me feedback in the comments, because english isn't my native tongue and I really want to improve my skills.

And last but not least: Have fun!

============================

A leaf ,taken by the cold breeze of the summer night, floated through the dark sky...

The soft breath of nature carried the leaf in a tender embrace, softly guiding it towards a little

forest glade.

Filled with many different kinds of flowers that were blooming in beautiful colors, ranging

from a cool cyan to the darkest shades of red, the place was filled with their sweet smell.

All around the glade, the trees hung full with ripe blue Oran berries.

The most important thing however was a small boulder on one side of the glade.

As boring as this may seemed, the Ursaring lieing back against it and snoring loudly definetly

wasn't.

On the lap of this bear-like creature slept a small Teddiursa, its head softly rested on the warm fur

of its evolved form.

Some may call it fate, destiny or coincidence that the leaf landed on the Ursaring's nose, causing it

to sneeze and thus waking up the resting couple, others however just call it...

"... Shit!" a male voice swore loudly.

The voice belonged to a young man, hiding between some bushes at the edge of the glade.

He was wearing short brown cargo pants, barely reaching his knees, simple leather sandals in a fitting color and a washed-out, sleeveless shirt that may has once been blue.

Resting on his nose was a pair of glasses with a thin gray frame.

His hair was of a dark chestnut tone, short and spiky in the front, while growing shoulder-length in the back. In his right hand he was holding a black pen, engraved with the name 'Zeke', in the other hand he had a small sketchbook in a plain red binding.

The sketch was showing the Ursaring, sleeping in the glade. However it was still unfinished, its bottom half, along with the Teddiursa, still missing.

'For Arceus's sake, just why won't I ever get a chance to finish my work?' Zeke questioned himself.

But as soon as his blue eyes glanced over the glade, he realized he had made a mistake: Both Pokemon were looking in his direction, the bigger one clearly angry.

Zeke gulped, knowing the danger of this situation.

Slowly he picked up an Oran berry, offering it towards the Ursaring. "Uhm, I just wanted to give you a little midnight snack, no need to be angry, right?" Zeke asked, trying to make an innocent smile, while slowly walking backwards.

The Ursaring didn't seem to be interested in the berry though and looked like it wanted to eat the whole man as a snack, as it dashed forward.

As Zeke turned around and started running, he ran faster than ever before in his life.

Ignoring the branches which hit his face, he kept up his pace and ran straight towards the only place where he could be safe: His home.

Just as he started to fear he would simply collapse from pain and exhaustion, a fierce roar behind him gave him a 'slight' boost to his running-motivation, causing him to even increase the pace.

Countless branches and several scratches later, Zeke had already widened the distance between him and the angry Pokemon, as he finally got out of the forest and spotted some lights in the distance. "F..finally" he coughed, his whole body trembling from exhaustion.

With a final spurt he crossed the fields, connecting the village's wooden wall and the forest.

On the city gate, there was a single man sitting on a chair, having nightwatch, who stared at the approaching man with a surprised look.

"Oh hey Stan, mind letting me in?" Zeke blatantly asked, trying his innocent smile again.

'Stan's a nice guy, so with some luck I might get away without 'her' finding out' Zeke thought hopefully.

The guard sighed but pulled the lever to open the gate, just wide enough for Zeke to slip in, before closing it again.

"Just why do you always sneak outside in the mid of the night, by now even you should understand how dangerous that is" he said, slowly shaking his head.

"Won't happen again" Zeke promised and started walking towards his home, one of the five little huts this 'village' consisted of.

The last thing he remembered was Stan, saying "That's what you promise every single night...", before he reached his home, the hut closest to the gate. After entering it, he simply threw himself onto the bed and fell asleep without another thought.

======================

Zeke's sleep shouldn't last long though, because far too soon he was woken up by a fierce knocking at the door.

"Just five more minutes..." he muttered just half awake, trying to fall asleep again.

"Ezekiel L. Barker , open up now, or, I swear, I will tear down your whole hut!" a female voice shouted.

Before the sentence was even finished, Zeke already stood upright in his bed.

'Oh dear Arceus, please save me!' he prayed. He knew this voice quite well and beeing called by his full name never proved to be a good sign.

Just as Zeke slowly approached the door it burst open, the lock and most of the door broken.

In this moment, he wished himself back into the forest, because nothing could be as fearsome as the creature standing in front of him.

Some may call her a woman, but in Zeke's eyes she looked like the big sister of the Ursaring, with arms as thick as Zeke's legs, eyes that seemed to be able to kill someone with just a fierce glance and muscles thick enough to be seen through her simple green linnen clothes.

"H-h-hey aunt Nancy, it's always nice to have you h-" he tried to welcome her, but just got cut off "You don't might happen to know which madman managed to be chased by a wild Pokemon this night, because he went outside against his better knowledge and brought himself into danger, do you?" She asked with a grim expression, her eyes closed and arms crossed in front of her chest.

'Damn it, Stan did tell her after all...'

"O-oh well, this madman could have possibly been... me" Zeke answered, saying the last part nearly too quiet to be heard.

He tried to prepare for what usually followed now, even though he knew it was simply impossible.

"Do you even understand..." Nancy grabbed his ear, pulling him close forcefully "...in the slightest bit how much you made me worry?!?" she shouted directly into his ear.

There it was, her overwhelming voice, causing his ears to ring and making Zeke believe his head was going to explode.

"I know, I know" he managed to utter "but I'm not a kid anymore, so why don't you just stop worrying about me and give my ear some rest, aunty?" Awaiting the usual ear-hurting scolding, he closed his eyes and braced himself as good as possible.

But he was surprised, because not only his aunt kept quiet, she even let go of his ear, so he slowly opened his eyes again.

'That's odd, maybe Arceus really does hear prayers sometimes?' he thought.

When he looked at his aunt, her face showed a serious expression.

"I know..." she said calmly "you aren't the little boy I used to protect anymore. Even though you are mostly a good-for-nothing, Zeke, but with 18 you are actually much older then most people are on this special day"

"Special day?" Zeke asked, wondering what she wanted to tell him.

"The day you recieve your own Pokemon and my allowance to set off for your own journey"

Zeke's eyes widened "M-my own Pokemon? A journey?" He couldn't believe his own ears, maybe they were just damaged by her earlier assault und he was now hearing things...

And just like she could read his mind she said "Yes, you're hearing right. I realize its absolutely impossible to keep you inside the village, so I decided you should be allowed to live your own life, your own little adventure from now on. A Pokemon will probably be a better protection for you than my ... wise words anyway" she sighed and added quietly "and I'm sick of angry Pokemon trying to tear down my village..."

"Sorry?" Zeke asked, not understanding his aunt's last words.

"Oh nothing..." she scratched the back of her head " anyways, I guess I should just go ahead and introduce you to each other." With those words she showed Zeke the dark-colored Pokeball with green dots she, what Zeke realized just now, was holding in her right hand.

"Come out... Zorua!" The ball opened, a white light emerging from it.

Zeke had never seen the kind of Pokemon that just appeared in front of him:

It looked like a little fox with fur in the color of dark gray, but parts of the fur on its head, as well as the eyelids, two spots on the face and the feet were red. Zoruas ears seemed quite big and the tail was short and fluffy. The neck had thicker fur, shaped like a scarf which was colored black.

It didn't even take Zeke a second to grab his sketchbook and precious pen. He immediatley started to draw Zorua, its cute and exotic look awaking his urge to draw.

However, he could have never expected what happened next:

While he was concentrated on drawing, he suddenly felt Zorua's eyes staring at him.

As he looked up, their eyes met and and the Pokemon softly giggled.

In that very moment he heard a high-pitched voice inside his head:

"Sup?"
