Gaurdian of the Heart
The queens' political advisor lived by himself in a mansion by the sea. He was the queens' right hand man, and often thought of himself as being better than everyone else. An arrogant, self righteous little parasite of a man who's only ambition was to be the first one in line for the throne. Everyone knew that the queen had no relatives or heirs to replace her, so it was only a matter of time. Time that the advisor did not want to wait for. As of late, the queen had been having some rather disturbing ideas- people owning their own property... and allowing them to worship whatever or whomever they wanted... thoughts of a rambling lunatic!!! She would end up destroying the kingdom before he even had a chance!! He took it upon himself to protect the peoples' best interests by getting rid of this insane matriarch. He planned and plotted her demise, arranging it so that it would look like an assassination by an opposing kingdom. He had hired the finest mercenaries money could buy, to make sure the job was perfect. The entire plan was foolproof. No one knew of it but himself, and a select few who also wished to see her gone.
He now lay in bed, dreaming of the vast harem of lovely ladies he would make, one of them stepping forward, running her hands around his neck, massaging him firmly, her grip then tightening. He wakes up, the woman's beautiful face changing into that of an ugly wolf like beast. It pulls him up out of the bed and pins him to the wall by the neck. The sleepy haze quickly clears from his eyes, and he recognizes the queens scrawny, annoying little plaything...which was now holding him off of the floor with one arm.
"You little bastard! I'll have your head for this!" he spat out, his face flushing red with anger. He beat at the arm which held him, but just ended up hurting his fists. He then saw queen Amethyst step into the moonlight from behind his assailant.
"My...my queen! Help me, please!" he pleaded pathetically, not quite doing the best of masking his complete surprise of seeing her. Amethyst stood next to her wolven companion, looking at her former advisor with complete apathy.
"That depends." she says coldly. "I have a question for you, and it is very important that you are honest with me."
"Yes my queen! Anything at all!!"
" I just want to know why you, a man whom I care for and trust above all else, would try to have me killed."
His mouth froze, not able to work for a moment.
"Why...who...why would her majesty even think such things?!"
He was a horrible liar. Amethyst sighed, looking down and shaking her head in disappointment.
"You know..." she said softly, looking up at him with a sincere sadness, "I would've been able to accept the truth, had you admitted it. I...I truly hoped we could have worked out our differences, or came to some kind of understanding..."
"But..!" he tried to speak, but she raised a finger, silencing him. The normally rock steady paw of the queen had an ever so slight tremble to it.
"But nothing!!" she hissed. "...You have no idea of how much you have hurt me right now." Her voice also had a slight tremor to it, barley noticeable, but Raz heard it. His eyes narrowed to slits as his grip tightened on the one who would dare hurt his beloved.
She put her paw on Razs' shoulder, speaking to him softly,
"...I'll be waiting outside, darling." she then leaned closer to him, speaking in an icy whisper through her teeth
"Please...don't rush." She kissed him on the cheek, then walked away.
She shut the mansion doors behind her, taking a deep breath of the night air. She felt truly hurt by her advisor, not so much because of him trying to kill her, but because of him lying to her face. That hurt, a lot. But, she slowly let those feelings drift away as she heard him screaming in pain and agony from the upstairs window. Amethyst smiled as she looked up at the shuttered window from where the noise was coming from. Razrien was very good at what he did, and it was just a small part of why she had become so attracted to him in the first place. Beside the fact that he was young, cute, and unbelievably skilled, Amethyst found herself more interest in his inner attributes. She had never in all her life came across anyone with such a fiery, unbreakable spirit.
When she had first purchased him from the slave pens, she thought that she already had him figured out. She was rarely, if ever, wrong at that. He was the last living member of an infamous tribe of nomads who made their living through the mercenary trade. He had seen his home destroyed, his friends and family slaughtered, and was then captured and tortured nearly to death by a sadistic slave merchant. That kind of thing would easily break the mind and spirit of any normal person. But Razrien had thrived, the mental pain and anguish strengthening his mind and body. She saw it in his eyes, his big, beautiful baby blue eyes which had haunted her for nights the first time she had looked into them. They were innocent and unassuming, the eyes of a child, yet no one could hold his gaze. It is said that the eyes are the windows to the soul, yet his were as a void. A deep, cavernous nothing which took in everything, yet gave back nothing. Amethyst did not fear anything, or anyone, and held his gaze for the longest time, as she did with all of her purchases. She wondered briefly if the boy had a soul at all, until she saw a flicker, a very brief smile quirk up one side of his muzzle as he returned her look. Yes, this boy had a soul, but he had hidden it, his outer drudgery merely a show. Amethyst was quite intrigued by this, purchasing him immediately, though the slave trader attempted to warn her of his background. She smiled. Even better. He was chained, and put into a covered litter directly behind hers until they came to the castle.
She spoke not a word to him until that night, where she summoned him to the arena. A large, indoor coliseum which hosted many games and various other events. The lone patron this night was the queen herself. He was brought in, still in his irons, not having made a sound throughout his whole trip.
"Release his bonds and leave him with me." she ordered the servant, who hesitantly obeyed. The bands around his wrists fell to the ground, his leg irons were also removed, the servant dragging them out respectfully, though with haste, shutting the thick wooden doors behind him.
Raz rubbed his wrists, looking up at the queen curiously.
"You're probably wondering why you are here, correct?"
He continued to gaze up at her silently, as if trying to comprehend.
"I know you can understand me, and I know you can speak as well."
He remained silent, his tail swishing along the ground behind him.
"But, all is forgiven. There are not many left who know that those of the Ki'axia clan may not speak outside of their home, unless it is of...business. That which I now desire to speak with you about."
His ears perked up slightly at the sound of his clan, not having heard it for the longest time. His mouth moved with the correct response, though he felt his heart in his throat. How did she know of his people?
"Wha..." he cleared his throat, "What mark must feel the claws of the eastern shadows?"
Amethyst smiled, knowing the correct response, she had spent the night rehearsing it, in order for things to go the way she wished.
"Swift be the eastern shadow, praise to the Goddess. No clan hath done me injustice. I seek only her protection, and ask humbly for her sons to aid me." she said with a slight nod, showing she meant fullest respect to his code.
Raz nodded, "I accept. What are your terms?"
Amethyst smiled, "I will own you. Your body will be mine. You will serve me faithfully, without question. You will not leave the castle, nor speak with anyone else but me. You are mine until I release you from your contract."
Raz was about to snort in contempt, and tell her where to shove all of that, but.... Forcefully bit his own tongue. Damn!! He had already said 'I accept' before hearing the terms! What a fool he was! And a contract, be it written or spoken, was honored both the same. Amethyst smiled wider. She got him!! It was a clever, sneaky twist of words she had used, but he was bound to his own law, which was honored deeper than religion in his land.
Raz took a deep breath, clearing his mind of any blasphemous thoughts, bowing deeply with respect to his new owner.
"My life and claw are yours, mistress." he said, looking up at her with a sincere smile.
She smiled as well. He was hers now, and there was a little something she needed to take care of first off.
"Good. But first, you must pass one small test for me. You must prove your worth. If you can successfully slay my challenger, I will except you as mine, and you will be rewarded. " her eyes ran hungrily over his frame, her tail curling upon itself beside of her in anticipation.
"Khardan!! " she spoke loudly, looking toward the doors which immediately burst open. In thundered a goliath of a human, tightly fitted with very expensive looking plate armor which covered his entire body, impressively accenting his bulging muscles beneath. He had a rough, scowling face with hair tightly braided back behind him. His features were sharp and intimidating, stormy grey eyes peering out from a heavy Neanderthal brow. He had rough, sandy brown skin, and a sword that was nearly as tall as he was which was strapped to his back.
"You alright, m'lady?" he grunted deeply, looking from her to the puny looking wolf thing standing in front of her, who was now staring back at him with a curious expression.
"Yes, I grow weary of this creatures insolence. Get it out of my sight and dispose of it." she said with disgust, looking directly at Raz as she spoke.
"C'mere pup!" he grinned, reaching to grab the scruff of his neck. In this short time, Raz had noticed something quite amusing about this magically enhanced armor. He dodged the massive, calloused hand reaching for him, crouching and springing upwards, digging his claws upwards into the side of the armor, then kicking himself away and landing on his feet. The kick merely made the brute step back and grin.
"What the hell was that?" he asked with a chuckle.
Raz looked up at him with a quiet gaze, cocking his head slightly, studying the large human. Khardan took a step forward, and there was a small creaking sound from his armor.
"Huh?" he stopped, his chest plate unceremoniously popping loose from one side and falling to the ground with a dull thud.
Amethyst had her muzzle resting on a paw, appearing quite bored, though her paw now concealed a grin.
Khardan became quite pissed off at this point, drawing his sword and slashing it at the wolf in a blur of motion. The small wolf was faster, darting forward silently as the blade passed over him. Amethyst wasn't quite sure what happened next, it was too fast. But Raz now stood behind the human, back to back.
Khardan blinked, his mouth gaping open as his breath was caught in his throat. He numbly dropped his sword, that which he had used to slay countless others in his long and glorious career. The mighty Khardan, champion of Rhydin, the blade of the eastern wind, had been defeated, falling with quite un-heroic flair, one might add, pitching forward and landing in his own entrails, which had been waiting quite patiently in a large pile below him. Raz looked up at Amethyst with a smile, wiping his claws on his thigh.
"Will there be anything else, mistress?"
That seemed so long ago.....
Raz now walked out of the mansion, shutting the doors quietly behind him. He padded softly over to Amethyst who was gazing up at the sky in thought, slipping an arm around her waist.
"They're so beautiful tonight.." she smiled, her large emerald green eyes taking in the brilliant pinpricks of lights scattered about in the sky above. Her tail in twined with his as she drew closer to him.
"Though none as beautiful as you." he spoke in a soft, deep murr against the soft bare flesh in the furrow of her neck.
"Mmmnnnn..." she growled softly, her tail tightening around his, her paw slipping down and grabbing his ass, digging her claws in deeply.
"We will not be missed until sunrise, my sweet.." she growled hungrily against him, her muzzle against his shoulder, running her tongue deeply through his fur, pressing him tightly against her.
"I believe the mansion had a few spare rooms..." he murred, slipping his paw into hers, escorting his lover back to the large, recently vacated mansion by the sea.
