CHAPTER 5 - Byrds: The Bitter and the Sweet
_A time to gain, a time to lose
A time to rend, a time to sew
A time to love, a time to hate
A time for peace, I swear its not too late "

The weekend seemed to Eric to take an eternity to finally come. He hadn't been able to see Aaron at school at all anymore because Aaron's parents had finished checking out the school and were to enroll him at Bob James_ _next semester. Eric was anxious to see his potential lover's face again and be with him at his house.
"Take the next right onto Cedar Ave," an electronic female's voice commanded. "You have reached your destination."
Eric turned the GPS off and threw it into the seat next to him. Eric stared wide eyed out his window as he pulled into the driveway to a massive three story house. He opened the car door and took off his sunglasses to get a better look at the miniature mansion. Eric whistled to himself in amazement. He looked over a saw Aaron open the huge oak doors to the front of the house.
"Hey you made it! I thought you would get lost for sure!" Aaron said excitedly as he ran to greet his friend.
"Ya, well I had a little help finding the place." Eric said, smiling at Aaron. The two gave each other a quick hug and looked into the other's eyes. "Oh! I brought some stuff for us to do just in case we run out of ideas." Eric said as he reached into his car. Aaron looked shocked.
"You didn't... Eric! I told you I wasn't quite ready for that decision! Especially not at my house!" Eric looked at the pony confused.
"What are you talking about! Your not ready for wh-..." Eric's eyes grew wide as he realized what Aaron was talking about. "Aww man! Get your mind out of the gutter! I know your not ready for that... heck! I'm not even ready for that! What I was talking about was that I brought some movies and stuff!"
"Ohh..." Aaron said quietly as he blushed a deep red under his fur. "S-sorry."
"Don't worry about that stuff. It'll happen in due time. I want you to know that I am never going to force you to do anything you don't want... except maybe force you to wear different cloths!" Eric said with a chuckle. Aaron gave a large grin.
"Here, come in side! I've been waiting for you all day!" Aaron trotted along happily, leading the dragon into his house. "Well, here it is! This is the new house!" Eric looked all around him and up at the high ceiling. The house was decorated with a contemporary theme with elegantly shaped furniture and glass and stainless steel book shelves and coffee tables.
"Wow... this is a really nice place you got here!"
"Hey, let me show you to my room. You can put your backpack and stuff there." Aaron motioned for Eric to follow him up the stairs. They climbed to the second floor and walked down a long hallway to Aaron's room. His room was a large area with a neatly made bed against one of the walls and a lavishly decorated rug in the center of the room. The dressers were all perfectly aligned and any items on top of them were handsomely arranged and organized. There were no posters on the walls or clothes on the floor or even dust on the furniture.
"You can put your backpack over by the bed." Aaron said as he disappeared into a walk-in closet. Eric blinked, a bit dazed, and walked over to the bed and sat on it, laying is backpack on the floor next to him. Footsteps could be heard resonating through the hallway, getting louder as they came closer.
"Hey Aaron." A strong man's voice said. " Do you know anything about whose ca-" The grown man stopped short as he entered the room , stunned that who he was talking to was not who he thought. "Oh... umm... h-hello. May I ask who you are?" Eric's cheeks turned a slight purple from blushing. Aaron poked his head out of the closet.
"Oh, hey dad. Sorry, I forgot to introduce my friend. This is Eric. I invited him over at school a couple oh days ago. I thought I told you about that?" Aaron's father's mouth popped open and his eyes twinkled as he laughed at his forgetfulness.
"Ahh yes, I remember now." Aaron's dad walked into the room and held out his hand to shake Eric's. " So your the one from school that my boy keeps speaking of." Eric shook the tall horse's hand. " It is a pleasure to finally meet you!" He said with a warm smile.
" It's a pleasure to meet you too, sir." Eric shook the strong hand, still blushing at the cheeks a bit.
"I would like to thank you personally for befriending my son. He was very concerned that it would be difficult to find new friends after we moved but It seems he has found a fine young man as a companion." Eric could only turn a deeper purple in response. Aaron popped his head back out.
"Hey dad. Is it alright if we go swimming? I didn't know if you had finished balancing it or not." The large equine look at his son.
"Ohh yes, I was coming up to tell you that, but got side tracked by the mystery car out front. The chemicals in the pool are balanced and it is safe to swim in it now."
"Cool!" Aaron said. "Hey, you brought your swimming trunks right?" Eric grabbed his backpack and lifted it.
"Yep! It's in here!"
"Alright, there's a bathroom down the hall, first door on your right. YOu can use that to get changed up."
"By the way boys, if you get hungry there's some sandwiches in the fridge for you." Aaron's dad left the door way and Eric grabbed his bathing suit from his bag.
"I'll meet you down stairs, K Aaron?"
"All right, I'll be right there." Aaron shouted from the closet. Eric exited the room and found the bathroom.
"Dang! Just this bathroom is almost bigger than my house!" He said as he walked in and turned on the lights. It was lavishly decorated with a seascape theme and had a pleasant aroma in the air. Eric proceeded to take off his clothes and paused a bit, looking at himself before putting on his bathing suit. He took his removed cloths in his hand and exited the bathroom and went back to Aaron's room. "Hey Aaron? You in there?" Eric asked the air. No reply was given and Eric shrugged his shoulders as he placed his old clothes on his pack. He made his way down stairs and looked for his friend. He found him outside with his back to the glass kitchen doors, sitting beside the pool. Eric stopped for a moment and just stared at the male. Aaron was looking out over the water watching the many rifts of sunlight bend and twist in the ripples of water made from the fountain and water fall. His fur was illuminated with glossy reflections of sunlight and twitch and sway with the slight breeze. Eric was in awe at the sight of the nearly naked stallion sitting by the water's edge with the cascading water in the background. The dragon shook his head slightly and quietly opened the glass doors as to not disturb his friend. He carefully closed them behind him and suddenly broke out in a sprint towards the pool. Aaron looked up to see who was running after him but Eric was already sailing over his head, falling to the water below, before he had time to react. Eric hit the water hard with his body in the shape of a ball, sending it in pieces of liquid shrapnel all around. Aaron braced himself as a wave of water splashed on and all around him. Eric broke the surface of the agitated water and shook it from his eyes. Aaron was still sitting by the pool with his arms held out to his sides as they dripped in the puddles around him. He blew out his mouth sending little droplets into the air and shook the loose water from his hands. Eric laughed as he watched the shocked reaction of Aaron. Aaron's mouth hung open as he tried to search for something to say.
"I-I can't believe you! You know I'm gonna get you back for this!" He said as he stood and leapt towards the dragon. Eric ducked his head under the water as Aaron's body almost landed on top of him. The horse pulled Eric up and out of the bubbling water with his strong, powerful arms only to throw him back down into it's depths. Eric gasped as he came back to the surface. He wiped his eyes and lunged forward, wrestling with Aaron to try and return the favor. The two continued their testosterone induced struggle sending the other's head under the water and shouting out yells and grunts. Aaron grabbed Eric one last time in his strong arms and pushed the tired body under the surface. Eric came back up and raised his hands.
"Okay... truce!" He shouted. They both eyed one another, panting heavily and wiping water from their faces as they rested. "Dang! Your diesel man!" Eric panted. "You definitely have some muscle on that cute frame of yours!" Aaron straightened his posture in pride.
"Thanks! Your not so bad your self!" He said with a joking shrug. The two laughed and made their way to the edge of the pool. They both got out and sat on the side underneath the flowing waterfall, with their feet dangling in the current. There was a long silence as they sat together, enjoying the other's company. Eric turned his head to face his friend and clasped his hand. Aaron turned his head to look at Eric with a bit of a questioning look.
"Hey Aaron, I got to tell you something that's been on my mind for a while." The horse sat silently waiting for the bomb to drop. "You probably already know this but I think your a really great guy, and I've never quite met someone like you. You're a real special person and you always bring about this great feeling inside me every time I see you. Aaron, I think I may be falling in love with you." The dragon tenderly squeezed his loves hand and looked deep into his eyes. Aaron stared deep into the loving eyes and then looked down.
"I-I don't know what to say." He whispered. He looked back up at Eric. "I've never really had s-someone tell me that there in love me." He continued to lock eyes with Eric
"You don't have to say anything." Eric said lovingly as he edged closer to Aaron. Aaron watched as Eric looked deep into him and began to inch his head closer to his. Eric gave a quick glance to Aaron's lips as he continued to get closer. Aaron got the message and began to hesitantly lean forward. The two crept closer and closer to each others face as they closed their eyes. Their lips were less than an inch from each other when Aaron suddenly paused. A second passed and Aaron could only lay his forehead on Eric's as he began to softly cry.
"I'm sorry! I-I can't!" He said in a broken voice. "I'm just not ready yet! I-I'm just not used to the idea of being gay! I'm not strong enough yet! I'm sorry!" He whimpered.
"Hey now, there there." Eric said with compassion. " It's okay! You did nothing wrong! You're plenty strong, I just pushed you too fast. It's my fault." Eric put his hand on the back of the horses head and cradled it on his shoulder. "I promised to never make you do anything you don't feel your ready for or just don't want to do. I love you and I don't want to ever do anything to hurt you." Aaron put his arms around Eric and they sat under the water fall, holding each other close. "Don't worry about anything, everything will happen in it's due time." Aaron lifted his head off of Eric's shoulder and smiled with a nod. "That's better! Now how about we go inside and get some food. I'm starving!"
"Ya, me too" Aaron said with a little sniff. Eric grabbed Aaron's hand and hoisted him to his feet. They walked from under the waterfall and took some towels off a rack near by. The dragon and stallion made their way to the glass doors on the other side of the pool area as they dried off their soaked bodies. They opened the sliding doors and Aaron walked to the fridge to get the sandwiches. The sound of clacking heels approached quickly from down a hall.
"Aaron? Is that you" A woman's voice asked around the corner. The woman came around the corner, still putting an earring in her right ear. "Oh!" She said as she spotted Eric. "Ah, you must be Eric! Aaron has been talking about you a lot lately. It's nice to finally put a face to such a nice young man!" Eric smiled and nodded.
"It's nice to meet you too mam."
"I'm glad to see you two are out of the pool. Aaron, your father and I are going out for a bit and I think it would be best if you didn't swim until we get back." Aaron nodded to his mom as he chewed on a sandwich. "I'm sorry that I must run off after finally meeting you Eric, but please feel free to make yourself at home. Aaron, we'll be back in a couple of hours. Call me if you need anything. Be safe. I love you!" Aaron's mom's heals clacked as she walked down the tiled floor and met her husband at the door. The two walked out and Eric heard the door shut.
"See, she told you she loved you and you were strong enough to handle that." Eric said with a wicked smile. Aaron furrowed his brow and threw a piece of chicken at Eric.
"That's not funny you jerk!" He said insulted. "Besides... she's paid to do that." Aaron said trying to hide a smile. Eric laughed and ate the piece of meat.
"Hey let's go watch a movie or something." Eric suggested.
"Sure, OK." Aaron said as he finished his sandwich. We got a DVD player in the den downstairs."
"Cool, let me get some movies from my backpack and I'll meet you down there. Oh, and bring those sandwiches too." Eric added.
"K, I'll pop some popcorn too." Aaron stated." The stairs to the den are right there under the stairs to the second floor."
"Okay, I'll be down soon." Eric climbed the stairs and went into Aaron's room and picked out some movies to watch from his pack. He padded back down the stairs to the first floor and opened the door to the den and went down.
"Hey, have you ever seen School of-" Eric stopped short as he saw the mammoth of a TV that towered in front of him. "Wow, that's a big TV!" Eric heard a quick ding and looked to his left. Aaron was pulling a bag of popcorn from a microwave and pouring it into a bowl.
"Oh, hey." He said nonchalantly
"Dude! What in the world do your parents do for a living!?" Eric cried desperately. Aaron blinked.
"They're both doctors... why?"
"Well, It's just that everything you own is so huge! Your house, your pool, your friggin' TV!" Aaron shrugged.
"I guess." Everything around him was the norm to him. "So what did you bring?" Eric shook off the last conversation.
"Uh, I thought we could watch School of Rock, if it's okay with you. It's a pretty funny movie." Aaron's eyes went wide.
"Ooh! I've always wanted to see that movie but my parents didn't like it cuz it was about rock music. They're such old fogies sometimes... Well hurry up and put it in." He cried excited.
"Okay okay, hold your horses." Eric laughed as he realized the pun he had just unintentionally made. He looked over at Aaron who did seem at all that amused by the joke. Eric made an oops face and sat beside the pony. Aaron selected play on the menu and wiggled his body close to Eric's. Eric was a bit shocked by the sudden affection that the horse was showing but happily played along and put his left arm around him. Aaron's head was gently placed on Eric bare chest and Eric laid the side of his head on Aaron's. The two sat like that as they watched the mad escapades of Jack Black, giggling with each crazy scene. Eric's eyes grew heavier and heavier as the move went on. Many times he had seen it and the rough game in the pool left him exhausted. Eric had to struggle more and more to keep his eyes open but he soon lost the strength to even try. The screen played the same animations over and over again as it waited for the user to make a selection. The movie had ended almost an hour ago and the DVD player was back on the menu screen. The quiet sound of heavy breathing could be heard. Eric was slouched on the couch with Aaron's head still on his naked chest, rising and lower with each controlled breath. Eric's arm was holding Aaron's warm body close to his own as the two peacefully slept together. Aaron had long ago finished watching the movie and found his companion asleep. He had started to get up to turn off the movie but stopped. A strange feeling had come over him as he realized that he didn't want to leave dragon's side. He felt so protected next to him; it felt as if no one could touch him, nothing could ever harm him. He had never had such a sensation come over him and he enjoyed it very much, reveling in this feeling of invincibility. Aaron Laid his head back down on the strong chest of his mate and cuddled close to him. He was soon asleep, wrapped around by the strong arms of his lover, protected from the rest of the world. A car door slammed. The steady pattern of Eric's breathing was broken and he slowly opened his eyes.
"What was that?" Aaron lightly dug his head deeper into Eric's pecks.
"Shit." He grumbled. "It's probably my parents." Eric laid his hands on the horse's head and playfully ran his fingers through his mane.
"I guess we should get off each other before they see us like this." He said in a somewhat dazed state.
"Yea, I guess." Aaron lifted his head off of Eric. " And I was just beginning to like this gay thing." He said playfully. Eric smiled and gave his stallion a kiss on the cheek.
"Don't worry love, there will be more to come... that is if you think your ready for it." Eric said as he continued to rub Aaron's head. Aaron stood up.
"I have a feeling I'll be ready for it when the time comes." He said as he grinned at the dragon. Eric smiled back and stood next to him.
"I should probably take this DVD out." He walked over and reached down to press the eject button on the player.
"Eric, we're home!"
"Be right up!" Aaron shouted up the stairs.
"We'd better head up." Eric nodded and placed the DVD in it's case. They climbed up the stairs and and greeted Aaron's parents in the hall.
"Did you fellas have a good time?" Aaron's dad asked.
"Yes sir!" Eric said with a smile.
"What did you guys do the whole time? I hope you boys behaved." Aaron's mom ask her son.
"Oh, we just watched a movie in the den." Aaron replied.
"That sounds fun! Aaron didn't give you a hard time did he Eric?" Aaron's dad asked with a twinkle in his eye.
"Na, he wasn't too bad, he didn't give me too much trouble." Eric said jokingly. "And when he did I showed him a thing or two!" He added as he lightly punched Aaron in the arm. The group gave a good laugh and Aaron's dad gave Eric a pat on the shoulders.
"So is there any reason why you two are shirtless?" The larger stallion asked.
"Oh... ya... we never got changed after we got out of the pool. But don't worry we dried off before coming in and sitting on ay furniture.", Aaron quickly added.
"That better be true!" His mom said seriously. Eric's watched beeped and he glanced down at it.
"Yikes! It's three o' clock! I had better get going! Thank you guys so much for having me over! I really had a good time!"
"It was our pleasure!" Aaron's mom said smiling. "Feel free to come visit us any time." Eric smiled and nodded as he began to climb up the stairs with Aaron close behind him. They walked to Aaron's room and Aaron shut the door behind them. Eric packed up his belongings leaving out a shirt to put on before he left. Aaron came up behind Eric a placed his hand on the dragons still bare back. Eric stopped what he was doing and lifted and turned his head to see why this was happening. Aaron stayed by him and said nothing. Eric stood up with a bewildered look on his face.
"What's up?" He asked. Aaron looked into those deep black eyes and he trailed one of his fingers down Eric's arm. Eric watched as the finger gently danced up and down feeling the muscle below the bare skin. Aaron opened his mouth.
"I-I just wanted to say thanks... again. You've helped me so much the last couple of days and I wanted you to know that I really appreciate it." Aaron was looking down as he finished his statement. Eric put a finger under Aaron's chin and lifted his head to look in his eyes. Aaron's eyes were beginning to well with tears. He saw the love in Eric's eyes and he finally broke. He grabbed Eric and hugged him close, his bare upper body flush with his lover's. "I Love you!" he whispered intensely as he hid his face in Eric's shoulder. Eric wrapped his arms around Aaron and bound him close to his beating heart. The Spark ran freely between them and jumped back and forth, electrifying both their bodies for one another. Aaron lifted his head and without a word the stallion locked his lips with the dragon's for the first time. The kiss was long and passionate as the lovers got a taste of each other. A pressure could be felt between them as both males became hard from one another. Eric moved one hand to the back of his lovers head and the other made its way down to the phallus of the other male. He gently rubbed the member through the thin material of the bathing suit. Aaron broke the kiss and looked down at the hand playing with his meat, but what stole his attention has the bulge in Eric's shorts. Eric removed his hands from the stallion and backed up a bit. Aaron jerked his head up to see if there was a problem.
"Don't worry love, We'll take care of those later, now is not the time or place." Eric said with a bit of remorse. The light left Aaron's eyes as he realized that what his lover said was true. The two fully separated and Eric put on his shirt and grabbed his bag. Aaron pulled out a shirt from the closet and he put it on as they walked out the door together. The walk from Aaron's room to Eric's car was a strange daze infused trip that seemed to go by so fast yet last forever. Aaron found himself facing Eric as he said something to him.
"Thanks for inviting me over, I had a great time! You know, you should come over to my place sometime next week. It's not as fancy as yours but there are some things I really need to show you now." Eric's voice sounded distant and disembodied to Aaron.
"Ya... Ok. Aaron replied subconsciencely. Eric gave Aaron another kiss on the forehead and got in his car. Aaron shook his head as he snapped out of his daze.
"Don't miss me too much!" Eric called out the open window. He backed out and drove off. Aaron stood and waved him goodbye until the image of Eric's car disappeared around the corner. Aaron's mind raced through the events of the day. He smiled to himself as he pictured the bulge in Eric's bathing suit and looked back to where the car had disappeared. Some day soon!_
