Prologue: The 6 O'clock News
"Good Evening Bob, I'm here at the Manhattan Midland Bank and Trust, where what started off as a calm afternoon quickly devolved into panic, chaos and finally tragedy. A few minutes after 3:30 PM, five men armed with military style weaponry stormed this branch of Manhattan Midland and seized control. Police arrived on the scene in minutes, but the damage was already done. One passerby was stuck down by a stray bullet which passed through the bank's main window. A beat cop was also gunned down as he attempted to stop the suspects from carrying out their plans. After a tense three hour stand off, NYPD SWAT stormed the bank to restore order, killing three suspects. Sadly, four hostages were also killed. Among the victims, are five year old kindergarten student, Adam Rainer, and his Father, 34 year old Detective, Luther Rainer. Preliminary reports credit Detective Rainer with the change of events that saved the lives of nineteen of the hostages, bringing this tragedy to an end. Security Officer Michelle Snowpaw is in critical condition at FDR Memorial hospital. Assistant Branch President, Craig Benson has been detained for questioning in connection with today's events. The remaining suspects are in stable condition, at an undisclosed location. As of now, these persons are the only surviving members of the five man team. Police Commissioner James Stone will be updating the public with further information as in a press conference as information becomes available, We expect that this will include the names of the yet unidentified victims, as well as the deceased suspects. Witness statements are being withheld from the press until that time. This is Alexander Dodley, Channel 3, Action News. Back to you Bob."
