Reunion

Part 11

Black scales reflected moonlight as Clay flew silently through the night sky. "Tomorrow..." He thought to himself as he landed near his home and walked towards his room, his eyes downcast and his heart heavy. The dragon was so preoccupied he failed to notice the car parked in his driveway and as he entered his home he heard a familiar voice.

"I've missed you both so much... I'm so sorry, I just... I blamed myself for what happened!" The voice spoke softly.

"My love... I have missed you so, I do welcome you home, please, never leave me again!" Illia spoke.

"DAD?!" Clay called out as he looked up to see a tall skinny human with Jet black hair.

"Heya kiddo, daddy's finally home." The man could not make eye contact with the black reptile as he spoke. but a tear came to the dragon's eye as he ran to his father's embrace.

"My last night here for you... Same old songs, just once more..." Brett sang to himself thinking his mate was still in the shower.

"I really wish you would sing a cheerier tune hun..." Kurt spoke quietly to his human mate.

"OH! y-you heard that?! heh heh... sorry... I-I thought nobody was around... it was bad right?" the human said as his eye darted to the floor.

"No... it was one of the most amazing things I've ever heard, and I wish I could hear you sing every day..." The tiger pulled his lover close as he spoke to him.

"M-maybe I will then! Though... I don't know many happy songs, the past few years just... I just... I couldn't..." Brett began sobbing in his tiger's arms, he didn't know why, but he couldn't stop.

"All that's in the past now! Now everything is back to how it should be, and if it takes me my entire life to make you truly happy, then I'd say that's a wonderful way to spend it..." the tiger whispered softly to his mate. he pushed him slightly away so he was looking him in the eye. "Brett... I want to spend my life with you... no... that's not it... I want to devote my life to you... you matter more than anything to me... I wish I could take back all the awful things I've done... but I'm so glad you're giving me a chance to make it all up to you."

"BRETT!" The large black dragon burst into the room, a small snow leopard trailing behind him. "He came home! My dad's back to stay!"

"That's amazing news Clay!" The human said excitedly as he ran to hug the big dragon. "I'll have to meet him soon then, thank him for having such an awesome son."

"Hey now, I'm not that great..." Clay said embarrassed.

"How many times have you saved my life again?" The human asked.

"Three." Kurt said from the sidelines, "not to mention all the times he threatened me." The tiger laughed.

"Ok... maybe I am amazing... if you insist..." The dragon spoke, the three were surprised when a small voice spoke from behind the dragon.

"Brett!" Mara ran over to the human.

"Hey Mar-Mar what's up?" The human smiled down at the little kitten.

"Mommy gave me a note to give you!" the little girl handed the human a scrap of paper, he glanced at it and all color drained from his face.

"What's wrong hun?" Kurt asked curiously.

"My mom's coming to see me..."

Calo smiled as he looked towards the small blue fox next to him, the two were on a picnic gazing at the stars. Calo felt whole finally, he had never felt like there was anything wrong with jumping from bed to bed, but looking back he realized how empty it was. "Hey Dillon... we've been going out for a while now... I was wondering... uhm... w-will you... be my mate?"

"I-I... YES!" Dillon yelled as he looked to the coyote beside him.

"Whew... that's a relief! I was scared you were gonna say no..." Calo said, excited as always. the small fox moving in closer and laying his head on the coyote's chest.

"Why would I say no? You're an amazing guy, you always pay my way, even when I tell you not to... and I mean, obviously I feel relaxed around you, my stutter even goes away..." the blue fox said lovingly. He looked up to the coyote as he felt something wet land on his cheek, Calo was crying. "D-did I say something wrong."

"No... I'm just so happy... I never realized how empty I felt until now, Jona just..." Calo choked back his tears as he prepared to share his secrets with Dillon. "When I was fifteen my friend Jona got me drunk and took advantage of me... It screwed me up for a while... but now, with you, I understand what love is really like... I don't feel lonely... I'm not sad anymore!" The coyote had pulled the small fox into a firm embrace.

"How could someone... I'm sorry... he sounds awful, you're such a sweety, you're always making us all laugh, anyone who would throw you away is an idiot." Dillon said, his tone comforting.

"Dillon... thank you... nobody ever cared about me this much-" Calo was cut short.

"We all love you Calo, me, Darren, Brett, Kurt, the whole gang, and I'm sure a lot of other people do too..." Dillon gazed into his mate's eyes and saw them sparkle more than ever before, the two young men spent the rest of their night cuddling on their picnic blanket and watching the stars, Calo dropped Dillon off at home as the night grew to a close, and as the fox entered his home he felt wonderful.

"Have a good night I take it?" asked the larger of the fox twins.

"Darren... it was wonderful... Calo... he asked me to be his mate..." Dillon said blushing.

"Seriously? What are you going to tell him?" Darren asked his smaller brother.

"I said yes... I never had to think about it, I love him Darren..." the small fox said quietly.

"Well... congratulations I guess, hope he makes you happy, and if he doesn't," the large fox cracked his knuckles loudly, "I'll handle him for you."

"Would you... Would you take me out flying again Clay?" The tiny human asked as he sat with the large reptile.

"I thought you were afraid of heights?" The dragon questioned.

"I just need a distraction, and I trust you not to drop me." The human jested.

"Alright." Clay wrapped his arms around Brett, "Hold on tight." As the human grabbed onto the dragon the two took off into the sky. The human felt the wind all around him, and the cool scales pressed tight against him, the two breached the clouds, Clay's heartbeat was a constant reminder the the human that he was safe.

"We're gonna land soon, I think I know a place you'll love!" Clay called out to his friend. as he dove down towards the mountaintops. landing in a small clearing which would be inaccessible without wings.

"What is this place?" Brett asked looking around at the lush vegetation noticing steam in the air, as he looked over he noticed Clay removing his shirt. Even though he knew he didn't want Clay in a sexual way (not to mention it would probably kill him), he had to admit, the dragon had an amazing body, he was probably around 600 pounds of pure reptilian muscle, not counting his wings, shimmering black scales running along his form.

"Hot spring, I found it one day while I was out flying!" Clay looked at the human, "Come on man, don't tell me you've never skinny dipped before?!"

"Nope, never have."

"Well, better get ready to!" with that Brett realized Clay was fully nude, but oddly enough he didn't care, he wasn't even tempted to take a peek at the big guy. Brett stripped down as well and submerged himself in the warm water across from the big dragon. As he relaxed, he wondered what his family visit would be like.
