#28 of Iron Dragon

End of Jenny's backstory, and a little about how she and Alice became an item.

"I would call her, but she has a race this week." Jenny said.

"Well I am sure we can find something in the mean time." Grandma said.

Grandma took care of signing Jenny out of her dorm room while Jenny, Grandpa and Tomas went up to the room to get the last of her few belongings. She was sharing a room with another girl, who was rarely even in the room so it would be no loss there.

They went a few blocks north of campus and found a cute little condo for her to live in year round. So her twenty first birthday present was her very own place to live. A few phone calls and Grandpa had arranged for some furniture to be delivered and set up why they took her out to lunch.

It was the only time someone paid for something that expensive for her. Jenny hated not working for things, her grandparents knew it, but insisted she did not have to pay them back a single cent. It gave her a solid roof over her head and a place to call home. Since her parents house was never really home. Jenny was the only child, grandchild or great grandchild to receive this kind of a hand out from grandma and grandpa.

The reason for that? Jenny was the only one who never asked or demanded such things from anyone. The only one to really work her ass off for the things she wanted. Her first pistol was a gift, her current one she had worked for and saved a fair amount of money seeing as the scope on it alone was close to a grand.

Tomas had even brought her a little present. "It's not much, but I found them while I was taking your grandmother on some errands. I know green is one of your favorite colors."

Jenny opened the little box and was at a loss for words. He had bought her a beautiful silver and jade necklace with matching earrings. "They are so pretty. Thank you very much Tomas."

"I am glad you like them." Tomas said and smiled.

"That was very thoughtful of you Tomas." Grandpa said as their food arrived.

"Thank you sir, I just felt like I should get her something nice for her twenty first. Since Jenny is the only one who remembers my name and birthday." Tomas said.

"I for one, am glad one of my grandchildren thinks of other people and is not a spoiled little brat." Grandpa said.

Two years later on her twenty third birthday, Jenny had gotten in another argument with her family and had a long day at work. She just wanted to go home and relax. But when she got home, something smelled burnt and the smoke alarm was going off. Jenny dropped her bag and ran into the kitchen "Alice!"

Alice was sitting on the floor of the kitchen the windows and back door open. She was crying and covered in flour, frosting and Jenny was not sure what else. The kitchen was a mess, there was smoke pouring out of the oven. "Are you okay?" Jenny asked as she helped Alice get off the floor, the smoke alarm finally going silent.

"I was just trying to bake you a cake... I followed the recipe and it started going everywhere in the oven and caught on fire." Alice sobbed.

Jenny put on pot holders and pulled the blackened, charred cake pan out and set it on the stove. "At least you are okay. I think the cake and the pan are a total loss."

"I'm sorry for ruining it. Happy birthday Jenny." Alice said and put her arms around Jenny's waist.

Jenny's heart stopped beating as those arms embraced her. She had known for a while she was only attracted to girls, and this was the very moment when she knew she really loved Alice. The little mouse was trying to bake a cake she didn't like. And god she was so pretty with her hair a mess, covered in cake mix. Jenny wanted to tell Alice how she felt, she wanted to kiss her right now, but couldn't do it. "Thank you Alice." Was all Jenny could say.

They cleaned up the mess and Jenny tried a small bite from the not overly burnt center. It was horrible. They went to the little coffee shop and ordered something for dessert after a light dinner.

The following years Jenny painfully watched as Alice fell in and out of love with different guys. Had her heart broken and in the case of Dave threatened if she said no. To be so close to the one you love, and not have them see it, it hurt. The more time they spent together, the more Jenny's heart ached.

They had been in their apartment on base for a little over a year. They had both gotten a job in the same department at the same time. Tonight it was pouring rain, Jenny didn't know what to do since Alice was out on a blind date with someone, one of their coworkers set her up with.

Lucy got up and answered the door. "Jenny what are you doing here this late? Did you walk, you are a soaking wet mess." Lucy dragged Jenny inside, got her a bathrobe and put her wet clothes in the dryer.

Ron had made her a cup of hot chocolate and handed it to her. "So what brings you to our house this late?"

"I love her..." Jenny said and started crying.

"You love who?" Lucy asked and put an arm around Jenny. "It's all right you can tell us."

"I love... I love your daughter, Alice." Jenny said through tear filled eyes and looked at Lucy. "I lover her so much, it hurts."

"You came all this way to tell us?" Ron asked and sat down next to her. Now that she said something, it was clear as day.

"I had to tell someone. I can't get the words to come out around her." Jenny said.

"Well you need to tell her before it's too late." Lucy said.

"But how? What if she says no?" Jenny sobbed.

"That is a risk you are going to have to take. Jenny, if you don't tell her you will never know." Ron said.

"You're not mad?" Jenny asked.

"Why on earth would you think we would be mad?" Lucy asked.

"Cause, I am a girl... And my parents will be" Jenny said.

"Jenny, you are the kind of person who we want Alice to be with. It doesn't matter if you are a girl. I can't believe we have been so blind to not have seen it ourselves. All the selfless things you do. Once your clothes are dry, Ron will drive you home." Lucy said.

"I'm glad you understand." Jenny said.

"You are a sweet girl Jenny. Don't be afraid to take a chance." Ron said.

Jenny couldn't ask that night or the following. She was sitting on the couch nearly a week later. Alice had gone out again and Jenny sat at home crying.

"Well that's the last time I go out with him." Alice practically slammed the door closed. "What's wrong Jenny?" Alice asked, she dropped her coat and purse by the door and hurried over to the couch and sat next to Jenny.

"Alice, I... Alice." Jenny said and without thinking pushed Alice onto her back and pinned her to the couch.

"Jenny?" Alice asked and was shocked when Jenny leaned down and kissed her very passionately.

Jenny held Alice down, their lips just a breath apart. "Can't you see, I love you Alice... Please don't turn away from me."

Alice's eyes grew wide as she saw all of the things Jenny had done and never took it for more than her being just a best friend. Her hesitation was read wrong and Jenny started to pull away sobbing, the only thing Alice could think to do was grab Jenny's over sized night shirt and pull her back.

It was another heart stopping moment when Alice pulled her back and kissed her. "I'm so sorry Jenny, all this time I should have known."

"It's okay, I should have told you sooner." Jenny said, she was so glad Alice understood.

"I've never kissed a girl before." Alice said shyly.

"So what do you think?" Jenny asked and leaned down and kissed Alice again.

"You are softer, and gentler... and taste like peppermint." Alice said and tensed up a little as Jenny's hand ran up her side inside her shirt.

"Do you want me to stop?" Jenny asked.

"I don't know, I'm a little nervous." Alice said.

"I think, I can help with that." Jenny said and kissed Alice again, for longer. Jenny ran her other hand up inside Alice's shirt. She gently caressed her sides and could feel the tension melt away from the one she loved.

"You seem really good at this." Alice said as her bra came unhooked.

"Been a lesbian for a long time. But you are the first girl I have really loved." Jenny said.

"So you have done this before, I never knew." Alice said and blushed as Jenny lightly ran a thumb over her nipple.

"A few times." Jenny pulled off Alice's shirt and bra. "You are so beautiful."

Alice blushed and quietly moaned as Jenny bent down and ever so lightly kissed and nibbled on her now hard nipples. This was a new and wonderful experience, no fumbling or heavy handed treatment. Not having the other person expecting her to suck on something, made enjoying what was happening to her all the better.

"Oh god..." Alice moaned and arched her back as Jenny pulled her skirt and panties off and went right down to her clit. No teasing, no awkwardness, no head scratching induced looking for it. Few men went down on her, and only one of them was any good. This was better than good, it was fantastic.

As Jenny slipped two fingers into her, Alice moaned louder. Jenny reached between her own legs to her wet panties and fingered herself. She smiled as Alice tensed up just before she came.

It had been a long time since anyone had brought her to that intense of a climax. It was the first time she had gotten her rocks off before her partner had. Jenny still had clothes on, and did not show any indication that she was going to stop. Alice moaned as Jenny moaned into her.

Jenny kissed her way up Alice's hot little body and played with her clit with her thumb. Jenny kissed her breast, then her neck, her cheek and playfully nibbled on Alice's ear. "Cum for me again, let me please you like no one has. Let me show you how much I love you." Jenny whispered in Alice's ears

"You all ready have... Jenny, I love you." Alice said and moaned as she came a second time.

They laid on the couch for a while in each others arms. "It is late, we should go to bed." Alice said and sat up.

"Yeah we have to get our equipment ready." Jenny said and got up.

They both walked back to the bedrooms. "Good night my love." Jenny said and was a little surprised when Alice caught her wrist.

"Where are you going?" Alice asked.

"To bed...?" Jenny said.

"After what you did, don't think I am going to let you sleep alone. Come on." Alice said and pulled Jenny into what would become their room.

"Okay." Jenny said with a smile. Never to be alone again...

Back to present day.

"So that's how you two became a couple." Nodrog said.

"And a little more than a year later we found you." Alice said.

"So now we are a complicated, but wonderful threesome." Jenny said.

"Knowing a little more than I did. I am a little more surprised you wanted to sleep with him." Alice said.

"I almost ran away when I saw how big he was, that jock had a tiny dick compared to him." Jenny said, and laughed about it. "Now that I stop and think about it, I have fucked vegetables bigger then that guy." She laughed even more.

"I suppose that is one way to get over it." Alice said and laughed along with her.

"I didn't know you could use a vegetable that way..." Nodrog said. Alice and Jenny laughed even harder.

"Oh yeah, there are bunches of them a girl can use." Jenny said.

"We used to use a really long cucumber for a improved sex toy." Alice said. Her and Jenny laughed as they could almost see the mental image form in his mind.

"Be a good dragon and maybe we will show you some time." Alice said.

"But not tonight... I think I ate too much again." Jenny said.

"Or that half a pound of bacon you had for breakfast." Nodrog said.

Jenny groaned. "Don't remind me. I will see you both in the morning." With that Jenny got up and made her way to the bathroom.

"Will she be all right?" Nodrog asked.

"Yeah, she is a little glutton some times. Happens every few months." Alice said.

"Her stomach was not what I was referring too." Nodrog said.

"Oh... She has made it this far, and with our support. I am sure she will be fine." Alice said.

Chapter

"Actually, today might have done her a lot of good. Like your encounter with Lilith out by the castle." Alice said and curled up on his lap. "Sometimes the only way to get past something is to face it head on."

Nodrog put his arms around her. "That does not mean we need to be alone to face it. Knowing that someone has your side even if they cannot do something is enough to make a difference."

"I knew she had a rotten childhood, I just didn't know it was that bad. I am so glad she finally told me she loved me. Looking back, I can't believe I never noticed..." Alice said.

"Its been a long day, you should go to bed." Nodrog said.

"But I'm..." Nodrog interrupted Alice by placing a finger on her lips. And she yawned.

"I think you are." Nodrog said. He carried Alice into their bed room and sat her down on the bed. Jenny had just came out of the bathroom and crawled into bed.

"Are you going to tuck us in?" Jenny asked.

"I can if you want me too." Nodrog said.

Alice striped mostly naked and pulled on her over sized night shirt before taking her contacts out and brushing her teeth. The two girls got into bed and Nodrog tucked them both in, and gave each a kiss. They were both sound asleep before he had pulled the door closed.

Nodrog chuckled as he entered his room to change. Jenny had given him a look into a part of her she was not proud of. A part even Alice didn't know. It showed him, she was beginning to heal from the scars. After tomorrow he would have a clearer picture of how Sherman will handle his transformation. Alice thankfully seemed to have had a normal family... well as normal as a girl who raced cars could be considered normal.

They both came from a fair amount of money, but they both worked hard for the things they had. However their lives were different as night and day. The reason it took Jenny so long to tell Alice how she felt, was no one had showed her how. That was why her first reaction is force, because she simply does not know another way.

He was a little unsure how he fit into the picture. Unless he was what the two of them wished they could be for the other. Jenny had hinted at it, when he had protected them from Dave. Alice was too timid to stand up against Jenny's father... So it was not a completely unfounded reason. It was a strange twist of fate and irony that the two weakest had protected the strongest of the three. Nodrog had protected them from pathetic punks and they had protected him from monsters. He laughed, he couldn't help it.

Nodrog sat on the couch and bit into one of the metal bars he had. He clicked the TV on to watch some news and thumbed open one of the dark beers he had got more of from the little brewer. He was a little surprised no one had asked him to help pull off the little prank Alice and Jenny had planned. After a little thought, he could think of why they had not. It would be too easy.

The beer and the prank made Nodrog think of Jim. Jim was like a number of people he had known all rolled into one person. He was a friend, a father, a practical joker, a teacher... a true jack of all trades, but he was a master of them all. Nodrog had picked up a rather large amount of knowledge from Jim in the time riding in the truck and on the plane his first day in this new era.

It was the man's lack of interest or simple disregard of his past that had surprised Nodrog. Jim didn't see the big deal that everyone else did, or maybe he did, but figured it was not his place to ask. Nodrog figured to Jim he was just another person with an eclectic past. Which seemed to be rather common around here. From the little Sherman had told him, even Mr. October has his oddities.

Nodrog checked on the girl's before he changed to go meet Sherman in the morning. At some point in the night they rolled into an embrace and stayed that way. The usual mess they made of the bed was not there. They must have actually slept well for a change, instead of their usual tossing and turning. No sense waking them, and he pulled their door closed once more.

Sherman was all ready inside eating when Nodrog went down to find him.

"I woke up early." Sherman said and sipped on his morning coffee.

"So I see. Excited or worried about what today might bring?" Nodrog asked.

"A little of both. I hope Samantha won't be mad that I didn't wake her this morning." Sherman said.

"Did she stay at your place?" Nodrog asked.

"Actually she invited me to stay the night with her. Jenny would be jealous." Sherman said with a sly smile.

"An interesting way to hint at something." Nodrog said and they both laughed.

"I figured it would be the least crude way to say anything. So I am guessing our usual dress will be acceptable for meeting someone so important." Sherman said.

Nodrog got a funny look from Sherman when he ate a hard boiled egg. "What?"

"Generally you take them out of the shell first." Sherman said and chuckled.

"Oh... Then why was it was not runny?" Nodrog asked.

"What did you think hard boiled meant?" Sherman asked.

"I didn't even read the tag. To answer your question, yes, normal street clothes with be fine." Nodrog said.

"You still have much to learn in the ways of food." Sherman said.

"Why? I prefer things, uncooked." Nodrog said.

"I forget..." Sherman said and finished off his fried eggs he had mixed with hash browns. "I am also guessing we will go up to your apartment to leave."

"I was thinking of going to yours, in case they are still sleeping, or not dressed." Nodrog said.

"Good point." Sherman said and stood up.

"So when is the rest of your stuff supposed to get here?" Nodrog asked as they entered Sherman's apartment.

"Should be any day now." Sherman said. On the plus side he seemed to be getting used to the language Nodrog spoke. Sherman was just glad it wasn't painful to listen to any more.

"Follow me." Nodrog said and stepped through Azule.

Sherman followed Nodrog. The room he stepped into was darker than the other castle had been. The air seemed thicker, a mix of rain, pine trees and dust greeted his nose. Nightrunner as always was waiting for them, his dark clothes matching the darker decor of the room.

"Good evening." Nightrunner said. Sherman's puzzlement amused him.

"Never mind, I forget time is funny when traveling. Good evening." Sherman said.

"You are catching on pretty quick." Nodrog said and smiled.

"I haven't had much choice." Sherman said.

"It is an admiral quality. You are earlier than expected, which is good." Nightrunner said and pulled open the heavy wood door.

This looked more like Sherman expected a castle to look like. More horror movie then fantasy. Torches provided some light and there were plenty of shadows around. Suits of armor covered in dust and cobwebs. Heavy wooden beams supported the ceilings. There was a presence you could feel but not see, it was a little eerie, but fitting to the man they were here to see. They saw few as they walked down the halls, Nodrog's metal footsteps echoing off the walls.

There was more light as they approached the main hall. A pair of werewolves or lycans, Sherman was not sure which, stood as sentries to the throne room. Both were more wolf like then him and noticeable bigger then Nodrog and himself. In height and physical build.

"Greetings Nightrunner." One of them growled.

"Greetings." Nightrunner said.

"The three of you may proceed, he has been expecting you." The other one growled.

Sherman figured their speech was more wolf than human. Even with all the torches and lanterns the throne room was dark. It was odd, because you could see clearly, but the edges of the room seemed to be hidden. Sitting in a heavy wooden throne was one of the Shadow Kings. He wore black and had some armor on. The armor he had on had an odd polished but non reflective quality to it. Like the two guarding the room he was more werewolf or lycan than human. His fur, a fog or smoke color. It was not really a gray or white, or some shade of the two mixed. It simply was that kind of color without being a nameable color.

"Good evening gentlemen. I am the Shadow King Roland Miststalker. You may call me, Roland. I tend to not worry too much about formality around here." Roland said and stood up. He walked down the few steps to the main part of the floor.

"Thank you for taking the time to see us." Nodrog said.

"Yes, thank you. I hope it is not too much trouble." Sherman said.

"No trouble at all... I can see the resemblance clearly." Roland said.

"I must admit, it was interesting to see the two, together." Nightrunner said.

"I would imagine. It is not wholly uncommon for a Halfling to gain some power. It is rather rare for one to get so much." Roland said.

"We had thought, that a program I had been through along with being exposed to a great deal of magic recently triggered it." Sherman said.

"What sort of program?" Roland asked.

"Basically, to turn him into a monster. Superior strength, endurance and regenerative healing." Nodrog said.

"Ah one of those super soldier programs. Nothing new, a great many have searched for such a thing. You are the only success story I have heard, but given your background..." Roland said and motioned for them to follow. "I think better when moving."

"I had a similar thought as that, the program worked because he had those abilities in some form already." Nodrog said.

"What sort of magic?" Roland asked.

"Invisibility, cloaked, and my odd form of teleportation." Nodrog said.

"So not really any parlor tricks. Nodrog's teleportation, is a combination of true teleportation and the very short distance blink. Plus he was present twice, though partly protected, to Nodrog's release of his power." Nightrunner said.

"And lets not forget whatever he did, to make me attack Jenny." Sherman said.

"Nightrunner had mentioned that, mind control is no small feat. For you to have offered the little resistance you managed, is impressive. Fighting with your father, would have been the last shock to the system to get the transformation going." Roland said.

"So we were on the correct path of thought." Nodrog said.

"Exactly. That is also the only reason you could have killed him. Normals need a special weapon to kill an immortal, generally only an immortal can kill another immortal. With three major exceptions. Angels, demons and some monsters can kill immortals easily. An example of a monster that could not, would be Lilith." Roland said.

"Then what am I?" Sherman asked.

"Let us see, after all that is why you came." Roland said and placed an open hand on Sherman's chest. "I must warn you, this will hurt."

"To late to turn around now." Sherman said.

"Spoken well." Roland said with a smile.

Nodrog and Nightrunner watched as Roland spoke in shadow and the king became transparent. Like he had turned to fog or mist himself. Sherman's eyes glowed green and he looked in considerable pain. He didn't howl or scream, which was astonishing, given what he was going through.

"Very impressive." Roland said and pulled his hand away as he became solid once more.

"I'll say, usually people faint after that kind of contact." Nightrunner said.

"Holy fuck that hurt." Sherman said and finally caught his breath.

"Not what I was expecting to find." Roland said and began walking once more.

"Is that a good or bad thing?" Sherman asked.

"That all depends on how you look at it. You are not a full monster since your soul can be separated from your body. However you are stronger than an immortal. The consensus is a person's soul is tied to their body by a golden thread or a chain of some fashion. You have at least two strands that tie your soul to your body. You can die, but not very easily. They both would have to be cut for you to die, but if one remains you will live on." Roland said.

"How much more will I change?" Sherman asked. He was relived he would not share Nodrog's fate and be forced to live forever.

"You are finished changing. Sherman, you will no longer age, be one hundred or one thousand years old. Congratulations on becoming one outside of time." Roland said with a wicked smile.

"Not something we usually congratulate someone on." Nightrunner said.

Sherman would have agreed with him, except that tiny part of him that was overcome with joy in not having to worry about growing old.

"As is expected of someone who is neutral. Those of us in the shadows tend to look at things a bit differently. After all, he is free from disease and illness, the problems of growing old." Roland said.

Nodrog saw a little confusion in Sherman's expression. "He is referring to Nightrunner's alignment. Of which there are nine."

"Good, Neutral, Evil. Of which there are three alignments of those three. Lawful, Neutral and Chaotic." Nightrunner said as they walked. This time the metal clank of Roland's greaves echoing with Nodrog's footsteps.

"Nightrunner, is a neutral, neutral. Nodrog and myself are Neutral Evil. From what I saw, when I looked into you. You would be Chaotic Good." Roland said.

"It might make more sense if I understood it better." Sherman said.

"The majority of your actions are good, to protect those weaker then you. See that justice is done. Putting others before yourself, all noble actions. The chaotic part comes from the fact you have no problem using any means necessary to achieve that end. We are neutral evil, because the end goal justifies the means. If two parties demand death of the other, kill them all." Roland said and they stepped out onto a balcony that over looked a dark garden. The plants and flowers were dark in color, they were alive, but lacked the usual bright colors associated with a garden.

"That makes a little more sense." Sherman said.

"That is why Nightrunner is in direct command of the Hunters. He weighs everything on scales and tables, to see that what is done, is fair to all parties involved. They all have their strengths and flaws, because he is so concerned with equality, Nightrunner can be slow to react. Whereas the three of us, can act to quickly, a knee jerk reaction, if you will." Roland said.

"Do not get to hung up in details like that. Besides, you know another chaotic good." Nightrunner said.

"I do?" Sherman asked.

"Jenny, she is text book definition of chaotic good." Nodrog said.

"Slicing her arm open in front of dozens of flesh eaters, to prove a point. She does not know it, but a selfless blood offering like that, is a binding contract. Her life is Nodrog's to do with as he pleases." Roland said.

"That was why you tried to refuse." Sherman said.

"Yes it is. If I had explained it to her what it meant, she most likely would have doubled her efforts." Nodrog said.

"Then how does that make you evil?" Sherman asked.

"One attempted good deed does not mean much. The lack of remorse, I give not a second thought to killing, murder, desecration, rape or any number of evil." Nodrog said.

"But what about..." Sherman started to ask.

"One thousand, eight hundred years of a single course of action will not change overnight. He protects them now, because he wants to keep them for himself. Once noble actions, now very much selfish actions. Correct?" Roland said.

"That would be correct. However the same can be said of many." Nodrog said.

"I, myself have had to resort to evil to protect those I hold dear. Alignments are not easy to change, especially when you are created for only one. We have drifted away from what we had come here for." Nightrunner said.

"No matter, I am not pressed for time. Sherman killing his father so easily with a poorly crafted knife, it peaked my interest. His father was certainly not a weak hunter. Actually, maybe in a hundred years, Sherman could take his father's place." Roland said.

"At least I would have plenty of time to think it over." Sherman said.

"I thought you were going to pursue something different?" Nodrog asked.

"Well, at least for the next one hundred years. I won't lie, this kind of traveling is growing on me. That and while there are more anthros on earth, I almost feel more comfortable here. I'm not sure how to explain it." Sherman said.

"Because part of you, is in fact from here. Your father was born in a small village half way between my castle and another Shadow King's castle. While your actions and intentions are good, you still are partly from the dark and shadows." Roland said.
