[SCRAP] An Argument With "God"
A continuation of the Angel dialogue sequence. I always liked thinking that Japanese foxes were as much spiritual beings as animals, and that they might seek to be 'worshiped' directly, even though it's taboo in Shinto; their originating mythology. Maybe even because this is what could result from it...
You stagger back from the booming voice that fills your head. Though the creature does not move its mouth, its 'voice' is around and 'in' you, permeating the creature's surroundings. The once-angel stands, still surveying her transfigured self in wonderment, seemingly unaware of this voice. You determine it must be directed solely at you, for the other denizens of the glade have turned to their own affairs as you survey them--clearly unaware of this creature's awakening.
"YOU NEED NOT FEAR ME, SON OF MAN. I BRING A UNION THAT CAN BENEFIT US BOTH." it continues.
[Hesitant: "What are you implying?"]
"What are you implying?" you ask, readying yourself to run.
"YOUR FEAR IS RESPECTED, BUT FRUITLESS. I ENTREAT YOU NOT AS A CAPTIVE, BUT AS A CHILD OF MY SEED."
It pauses for a moment, giving you time to take its statement in. "Its seed." This creature must be the source of the strange transformations you have witnessed to this point!
"YES." the voice echoes, as if it has ripped the words from your mind to give you this answer. "WHAT HAS BEEN DONE TO YOU IS BECAUSE OF ME. I DESIRE YOUR BODY TO CHANGE, FOR MY PURPOSES, AS I HAVE DESIRED THE BODIES OF OTHERS, LIKE SHE WHO STANDS BEFORE YOU, TO DO THE SAME."
[Stay and ask what the creature desires.]
You inquire--tactfully as you can, for the moment, at least--toward what purpose this being aims, that it is transforming so many creatures to be foxes.
"I EXIST AS AN EXTENSION OF A DESIRE IN THE WORLD. ONE THAT HAS GROWN, BUT HAS ONLY NOW BECOME A POSSIBILITY. I WISH TO BECOME GOD."
It pauses, as its statement reverberates for what seems like a very long time, before there is silence in your head. Then, almost immediately, it prompts you.
"WITH WHAT DOES THIS GOAL STRIKE YOU? AWE? DISBELIEF? DISGUST?"
[Disbelief].
You ask how that is even possible, for a creature like it to become 'God'. After all, God exists--right? Since Angels exist?
"ALLOW ME TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION, WITH A QUESTION. HAVE YOU WONDERED--IF THERE IS A GOD--WHY DOES GOD HAVE POWER?"
[Because that's how he 'is' and 'has' been--powerful?]
You think God must have power, because that is God's nature, as surely as the Sun must rise in the East.
[AND YET, ON ANOTHER PLANET, SUCH AS VENUS, THE SUN RISES IN THE WEST, BECAUSE OF ITS OWN AXIS. THINGS THAT ARE CERTAIN CAN YET BE MADE UNCERTAIN, WITH ADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE. I ANSWER YOU TRUTHFULLY: FOR GOD TO HAVE POWER, HE MUST BE GIVEN THE NOTION OF EMPOWERMENT, BY MAN'S ADMISSION OF SUBSERVIENCE. JUST AS EAST AND WEST ARE SUBSERVIENT TO MAN'S DEFINITION OF DIRECTION, AND THE SUN'S PLACE IN THE SKY SUBSERVIENT TO THE ROTATION OF THE PLANET IT IS VIEWED FROM, SO GOD'S POWER IS SUBSERVIENT TO MAN'S ADMISSION OF 'IT'. DO YOU COMPREHEND?]
Your head is practically spinning by this point, trying to process the logic of these statements, but you keep it together.
[ACCEPT THIS PROOF OR NOT, I EXIST BECAUSE A DEGREE OF SUBSERVIENCE EXISTS TOWARDS MY POWER, AND TO THE DESIRE TO BE LIKE MY KIND, COMING FROM YOUR OWN SPECIES. IT IS MY DESIRE THAT THIS WISH BE FULFILLED--THAT I MAY BECOME GOD TO THOSE WHO WILLFULLY WEAR MY IMAGE.]
So the fox-beast seeks to create other fox beasts--to inspire reverence of it? Not what you would have expected from a monster who must be pumping out enough semen to fill a small reservoir... but... okay.
[I PROPOSE TO YOU THIS: JOIN WITH THE ONE BEFORE YOU, BENEATH MY SEED. BOW BEFORE ME, AND TAKE ON MY IMAGE, THAT YOU MAY BIRTH CHILDREN TOGETHER IN MY NAME. ONLY WHEN MY LINEAGE HAS BEGUN, MAY I TRULY BE FATHER TO MAN--AND ONLY THEN WILL I BEGIN TO RECEIVE MAN'S REVERENCE.]
The notion of submitting to this creature, while blasphemous, has its appeal. Who knows what wondrous power may lay in store for you? You glance at the many-breasted vulpette; the once-angel that stands before you now, a transfigured creature who is already kneeling before the strange beast in loyalty to its cause--as her 'creator' widens its legs, and stretches its vulpine penis free from its sheath, red and firm, pointed at the she-fox. You suddenly realize how literal the god-creature's proposal is--knowing what 'comes' next is it.
Do you...
1.) Run?
2.) Approach and bow?
