Chapter 2

I need to find something, anything just so this absol won't feel unhappy.

It's a long shot but I don't want to see a pokemon upset.

Running as fast as his legs could carry him, it only took James a few minutes to reach the nearby town.

This was the only place that was close enough for James to find something that might lift the mood of Absol, Trustfield a small village just off route 104.

James often came into this village to help at the local pokemon center but this time was different, he needed help from them this time. He came charging down the road and bursting the doors to the pokemon center wide open.

"Good heavens! James?" Nurse joy sprung up from the desk rushing over.

"I...ne...need." dropping his hands on his knees.

"Take it easy James, just slow down here take a seat" Nurse joy replied, with a worried look she sat him down on a nearby seat.

"Now what is wrong, and slowly."

He took one big gasp for air before speaking, "There is an Absol in the forest that seems really upset, I spent almost all day just sitting with it. It might be in pain I don't know it seems to be crying" James said throwing his words out of his mouth as fast as he could.

"James you know how dangerous wild pokemon can be, remember that time we brought that poochyena in?" Nurse joy stood and began to walk away

He grabbed her hand "No this is different, there is a connection between us I can feel it."

"Well if you are sure James, but why did you tire yourself out running all the way here?" she duginto her pocket.

"Here if you failed to catch it use this" She held a pokeball to him.

James wasn't even looking at nurse joy he was lost in thought day dreaming, he glanced over and saw the computers before he could think about taking the pokeball he shot up and ran over to the computers.

"James wait slow down, what are you looking for?" Nurse joy said dashing over to him

"I'm trying to find something that an Absol will like; you know like a gift something to cheer it up, what do Absols like?"

James's fingers tapped at the keyboard franticly looking for something worth scanning over pictures of pretty plush toys and chew toys.

"I have a few ideas, but james, you don't even know the nature of this pokemon what if this pokemon is a threat to you"

"No she isn't I mean he I mean... I don't know ok just help me find something"

"I guess you're going to struggle to find something that will suit a pokemon you don't know the gender or the nature, sorry James I don't think I can help you" she nods to James and walks back to the desk.

Great now what am I going to do this Absol, I don't even know the gender.

"Chan-chansey!" James turned from his chair to be greeted by a Chansey holding a blue box.

"Chan!"

"Sorry Chansey im a little busy I need to find someth-"James tried turning around before being grabbed and pulled back around the sheer force almost ripping his arm from his body.

"OW! Jeez alright, alright what is it" he took the box and tried to open it before chansey placed her hand on the box and pointed to the door.

"Se! Chansey!" Chansy started to jump up and down pointing to the door but keeping a firm hand on the box.

James let out a long sigh before glancing at the clock, just chimed three o'clock. He had almost spent his entire day just with this Absol and he loved it but he didn't want to leave the Absol alone he had already wasted most of the time looking for a gift.

He dashed out of pokemon center and ran back to the river just outside of the town and followed the stream, to try and find is new companion.

He followed up stream and came across two figures in the distant, one seemed like a trainer and a tall red Pokemon, he walked up and past getting a glare from the trainer.

"Keep walking champ nothing to see here" the trainer crossed his arms and his pokemon followed suit the tall red bird pokemon standing there mirroring the trainer.

James walked past without saying a word but was met by a familiar white heap of fur, the absol that James just tended to hours ago was laying on its side with a small stain of blood on its fur, James quickly drop the box and ran over to it.

"Absol! W..whats wrong are you ok?" He lifted the injured pokemon and rested its head on his legs.

"What the hell are you playing at!" He jolted his head back the trainer.

"Hey look kid this Absol was upset I tried to help then the mutt attacked me not having some depressed pokemon screwing me up" The trainer started to laugh

James turned back to the pokemon as its eyes opened and a small whimper escapes its mouth.

"A...sol..." the Absol tried to speak but it was a faint effort to communicate.

James rose to his feet and stormed towards the trainer.

"WHO THE FUCK DO YOU THINK YOU ARE!!" screaming at the top of lungs

"You really think its necessary to attack a upset pokemon!! You're fucking sick!" James tried to make a swing before the large red bird like pokemon grabbed his arm.

"Ha you're out of your league kid" The trainer flicked his hand and turned away walking back towards the town.

"Blaziken" The pokemon dropped James, before landing to the floor the pokemon fired a large flaming cross towards him blasting him in the chest, sending him a few feet backwards and landing just near the Absol.

James vision faded the last thing he saw was the red pokemon walk off to catch up to the trainer before passing out he saw a beam of light pass over his head.

"The bravery of you humans always surprises me"

James darted up to be welcomed by a image of an Alakazam the rest of the room was pitch black nothing but the light coming from the pokemon

"Wh..who are you what is this place? I don't like it I want out" James was panicking walking back and forward.

"Calm down young James I am but a simple pokemon helping out a brave trainer nothing more"

James began to panic, running in circles, holding his head.

"Let me out of your trap! Stop this! I didn't anything wrong!!" he ran towards to the pokemon

"You are right, now sit do not say a word"

I chair appeared next to the strange pokemon, how could it speak? What was this room? Questions filled the boys mind its seem to affect the room the pokemon could almost hear his thoughts.

"Now relax my friend, do not be alarmed but this is your mind, do you see the problem with it?"

"THIS IS MY MIND!!! WHAT THE HE-"

"Stop answer the questioning" The pokemon made a motion with his hand stopping James from talking for a brief second.

"It..Its too dark"

"Correct" The room pulsed with a dim light

"Wait what was that?"

"Understanding the problem, now tell me what you felt when you saw the Absol" A small bubble like gap appeared behind the pokemon showing Absol laying on the ground in pain whimpering.

The room became a dim blue colour as James felt helpless he couldn't help the Absol there was nothing he could do.

"Helpless, angry" as James clenched his fist the room became dim red the image changed to the face of the trainer his features changing frequently making it clear he was sleeping or dreaming or worse.

"Cast them emotions a side angry and hate, throw them away focus on your friend" The image of the Absol returned with it the room changed back.

"Look let me out of here let me help!" James said trying to move out of his seat.

"She is in pain you really think a human could understand a pokemon?"

He tried to stand up from the chair but a force pulls him back down preventing him from doing anything but think.

"James what would you do with this pokemon if she attacked you when you tried to help?"

The images of him walking away from the pokemon clouded his mind, each scene playing out in his head if she attacked him would he of walked away, lashed out? Just as the thoughts climbing into his head the things he could have done painted themselves into the black, images of him walking away, lashing out, he started to hear the whimpers of the poor pokemon the cries echo in this mind.

"STOP!" James screamed out, the whole room changing around him everything stopped and changed. He was in a bedroom and he could hear the Absol the whimpering and the sobbing coming from the window, more he got closer the further the window got, James thought maybe walking backwards could have a opposite effect he was half right, the second he turned his back to try and outsmart his own mind.

The crying, piercing his heart the cries of Absol getting louder and louder the longer he turned his back.

"STOP IT NOW!" the room turned dark again, he still seated in the chair and the Alakazam still hovering in front of him.

"Are you done having fun? Let me go..." James said dropping his head down.

"That is not my choice to make, it is yours James" with that, the Alakazam faded into the shadows leaving James alone with his thoughts.

My choice? Fine James if this is your mind then you need to have control this is but a dream wake up.

His chest getting wet but yet there was no sign of water or rain he was in a dream after all. A faint cry could be heard it was the same as before the same crying, it was Absol, she was sat over him defending him from anything that could harm him she was crying at the new found friend that just gave his life to try to stand up for him for a random pokemon he meet only hours ago, James could hear it in his ears he rattled the chair trying to break from the bonds.

All could be heard was the crying it built up in James he felt helpless he was stuck in this coma like state this dream world, to James it was more of a nightmare world. He closed his eyes and began to focus .

"This isn't real none of it! You're asleep you need to wake up, those tears are for you wake up you fool!" The world began to shake beams of light started to crack though the walls.

"Come on James she needs you this isn't real none of it!! She is waiting come one! GET UP AND OUT OF THIS!!!" The image of James burst up out of the chair causing him to jolt up and hug the Absol gasping for air he held the Absol close hugging her as tight as he could coming back into reality.

"Sol.." She gently nuzzled his shoulder and curled up into his chest. James moved his down the pokemons body to find a small patch of blood
