The sun's orange glow was just reaching Atti's bedroom window. He yawned and blinked his eyes open as the sun hit his eyelids. "...Morning already..." He got up off the bed, stretched, and walked across the hall. He was surprised to see Kora already up. "Good morning, sweetie." He said, and hugged Kora from behind.
Kora smiled. "Good morning to you, too." He slid out of Atti's embrace, and walked to the other room. "Do you mind if I get something to wear out of your closet? I only have one pair of clothes with me..."
"Oh, sure!" Atti bounded across and opened the closet. "Pick away!"
Kora looked around, and picked out a t-shirt with the Japanese flag and some kanji on it. He also put on a pair of slightly baggy jeans.
Atti had already put on clothing. His outfit was a blue shirt with 'Riot!Rave!' printed all over it in neon letters and a pair of dark purple skinny jeans.
Kora looked at him, and felt warm inside. "You look great..." He said and gave Atti a lingering kiss.
"Mmmmm...it's a good thing we brushed our teeth already." Atti said when Kora pulled away. He caught the scent of something. "Is that...breakfast? It is! First one there gets extra bacon!" He said excitedly, and then took off so fast he left an after-image.
"Wha?" It took Kora a little bit to realize he was getting left in the dust, but then he ran after Atti.
Atti was running a little too fast, and he tripped over the carpet. His face impacted the kitchen door at a high speed. "Ah! Owww..." He said, and fell back into Kora's arms.
"Awww, poor Atti." Kora joked. "Let's just have some breakfast." He opened the door, and was bombarded with the delicious smell of pancakes and bacon.
"Oh...my...god." Atti raced into the kitchen and quickly sat at the counter. A plate loaded with food slid to him, expertly spinning. Marie grinned at him from across the counter. "Did I outdo myself?"
Kora excitedly dug into his food, and practically had an orgasm in his mouth. "Oh...delicious!"
She smiled at him. "Thanks! You should eat quickly, I have to drive you two to school."
Kora suddenly felt excited and scared at the same time. 'I hope this day will be good...'
Meanwhile, the sun was casting a glow into the bedroom of Javier and Kitsune as they slept, and Kit was in the middle of one of the best dreams he had ever had in his life.
Jav stirred in his sleep, mumbling something indecipherable. This was the first time in a while that he was deeply asleep, so even the sun's glow couldn't wake him.
The sunlight flowed into Kit's eyes, causing him to breathe in sharply. His eyes shot open and closed immediately, silently hissing at the change in light levels. He slowly sat up in the bed, his head in his hands. 'Hmm... What a nice dream... it was as if I was living with...' His head turned to see Jav lying next to him. He blinked a couple of times trying to get it past his mind. 'It WAS real...!' How it had never occurred to him before now that it was real was beyond him, though.
Jav was deep in dreamland; the only image he saw was of Kit...his eyes, his smile, everything about him. Jav smiled involuntarily. "Kit..." he whispered in his sleep.
Kit stiffened in the bed as he heard his name coming from Jav. He smiled deeply and almost teared up a little. Suddenly an idea occurred to him that made him laugh inwardly. 'time for a little payback of my own... just hope it doesn't hurt him... hahaha' He shuffled himself closer to Jav and stared intently into his closed eyes with a big grin on his face, waiting for Jav to wake up.
Jav yawned in his sleep and shifted again, and then he felt the weight of Kit on his side of the bed. "Meh?" he mumbled, then opened his eyes. "AAAH!" he screamed, and practically flew off the bed.
Kit's eyes beamed as he laughed heartily at Jav's reaction. "That was priceless! After all those times you got me, I finally got you back!" His smile could barely contain another laugh as he looked at Jav looking particularly ruffled at him.
"If I didn't love you, I'd HATE you right now!" Jav shot back, then giggled a little as the shock wore off.
Kit just giggled again as he grabbed Jav into a hug. "Aww... you don't mean that and you know it. You're just upset I got to you for once!" He matter-of-factly stated.
"I guess that's true." Jav answered, and then planted a kiss on Kit. "Good morning..."
"Great morning, knowing I don't have to deal with HIM anymore..." Kit blandly and yet at the same time enthusiastically replied as Jav kissed him. "And now I can start to focus on my own life now."
"You and Kora. Heh...I bet they're all over each other right now." Jav grinned at the thought.
Kit chuckled as he quickly added in "Yeah, I wonder how your mom is holding up with them... and on a..." He stopped short as realization hit him. His eyes shot open as he started to panic a little. "SCHOOL DAY!"
Jav's eyes shot wide open. "Holy crap! I forgot!" He ran to the closet, stripping and throwing off the clothes he slept in along the way. His boxers landed on Kit's head.
Kit could only laugh as Jav's unmentionables hit him. 'Not every day that happens...' He caught himself thinking about dirty things before he snapped back into action, joining Jav in getting ready for his first day in the new school. 'Hoo boy, another new place to get used to, but maybe it'll be better here.'
Jav quickly pulled on a different pair of boxers and some camo pants. "Pick out anything, but hurry!" He said to Kit. A tight black long-sleeved t-shirt and a long coat joined the getup. "We'll grab breakfast on the way!"
"Right!" Kit said as he pulled piece after piece, somehow ending up with a tight pair of blue jeans and a black hoodie. The jeans also had a chain hanging off of the side and a pattern of a sword on the front of the left thigh.
Jav quickly entered the bathroom, brushed his teeth and swigged some mouthwash, spitting it out into the sink as he exited. "Alright, we're good, just don't lag behind!"
Kit rushed through his other preparations as he walked up to Jav with a grin and a giggle. "We're going to have to get an alarm clock or something..." He joked as he pecked Jav on the cheek quickly.
Jav grabbed Kit around the waist and steered him out the door. "Let's go, cutie."
[Timelapse]
Kit looked on in awe as the school loomed in front of them. It was much larger than his old school, and it seemed much friendlier. People hanging around were laughing and chatting with each other, and more than one or two groups were looking at Kit with interest and most of them were smiling.
Jav grinned. "Impressive, no?" He looked around for a bit, and then spotted a group of people relaxing by some weird sculptures. "Wanna meet my friends?"
Kit nodded with his eyes wide open, still staring from piece to piece of the school, and blindly followed Jav towards his friends.
"Hey guys!" Jav said excitedly. The others said similar greetings. "This is Kit, and he's my...well...ah, just let me show you." Without warning, Jav grabbed Kit and kissed him hard.
Kit stiffened and let out an excited cry as he was kissed. His eyes darted to all of Jav's friends and his face turned beet red. 'The best way to be introduced to friends!' he thought ironically to himself.
Kit eyed the "Jock" with a strange look. 'Hmm, not every day I've been near a person like this...' he thought, reminiscing on his past for a second before he bowed his head a little to respond to the other friends. "Nice to meet you all!" He cocked his head to the side in his patented cute look.
The 'Jock' crept over to Jav, keeping his head low. "I HATE it when new students are girls...they won't leave me alone!" He looked up, and noticed Kit. "Hey...who's this cute guy?"
Kit's eyes flashed for a second in surprise as he heard the Jock's comment. "Okay, I did _Not_ expect that." Kit mumbled a little as he introduced himself. "My name's Kit. What about you?" He smiled serenely.
"Hi, I'm Matt. Nice to meet you." Matt stood up. "Are you...? I don't want to intrude; I just think you're kinda hot." He snickered a little.
Kit's eyes widened as he giggled heavily as his face reddened again. "Thanks, Matt!" He said with a smile. "But I'm taken, you know..." He said as he scooped Jav into a hug and looked at Matt through one eye and a raised eyebrow.
Matt gave a contented smile. "Oh, you and Jav are hooked up! Nice catch on both your parts." Jav grinned back at him. "Well, you haven't seen how taken my brother was with his brother!"
Kit nodded in agreement. "Hey where are they, now that you mention it? I'd bet Kora's scared stiff about this place..." Kit thought about his brother sitting in the middle of one of the hallways, standing stock still and not daring to move at all for fear of being flattened. He chuckled lightly.
Meanwhile, Atti and Kora were en route to the grassy area where Kit and Jav were. "I think my brother's friends will like you...you were really nice to my family!" Atti said to Kora.
Kora was walking along somewhat stiffly, hoping not to get in anyone's way. "Geez, this place is huge..." Kora said in an offhand manner as he followed as closely as he could to Atti.
"I know...and there's an equally huge population of kids like us!" Atti grinned, excited to show Kora to his gay friends. "...and there's also a population of ignorant idiots..."
Kora loosened up a little as he heard Atti's explanation. "This place is gonna take some getting used to... I hope we don't have too much trouble today, though." He was also thinking about his brother. It was both of their first days in the school, so he couldn't help but imagine his brother having a hard time with his brows furrowed.
Atti pecked him on the cheek. "Don't worry about it! Anyone screws with us...well...let's just say I have some insurance." He winked at Kora.
Kora stopped for a second looking over at Atti with a questioning look on his face. "And what might that be, pray, tell?" He didn't know why but it made him both nervous and beyond happy to hear that sentence.
"Jav took judo...and my friend Yoko is a two-time amateur wrestling competition winner. She kicks some serious ass, to put it lightly."
Kora smiled a little. "I wish I could say I had any good skill in keeping myself alive... Or that I had such good friends... Nobody in my old school would talk to either me or Bro."
Suddenly, Atti had an idea. "Hey, let's sneak up on our brothers!" he whispered to Kora.
Kora let his thoughts wander to what it would be like and a smile played across his face. "Sounds like a fun idea." He simply said as his smile turned devilish.
Atti crept low to the ground, silently sneaking up to Jav. He waited until Kora was behind Kit, and then tackled Jav to the grass. "Pay attention!"
"You never know who's waiting!" Kora yelled gleefully as he tackled his big brother. "Never show an opening, right, Bro?"
"What the hell?!" Jav exclaimed. "Might as well say hi in the most interesting way possible that's legal!" Atti replied, and then got up off of him. "Hi guys." he said to Jav's friends.
"You've lost your edge, Bro." Kora simply stated as he got off his bro until he felt a hand grasp his wrist. "Lost my edge huh?" Kit simply said with a smile. He used Kora to get back up on his feet and began to introduce his brother to the group. "This is my brother Koraf-" "It's just Kora!" Kora quickly interrupted. He still hated hearing his full name.
Atti smiled and hugged Kora. "I think your name's cute...then again, I like everything about you." He gave Kora a lingering kiss.
Kora's tail wagged a little as they kissed and Kit made an "aw cute!" noise in the background.
Jav's friends grinned at the two, some of the guys obviously relieved that Atti was with someone. "Okay bro. You want to show Kora around the school?" Jav asked. "Oh, definitely!" Atti replied. "Take him to the office first, to get him fully registered. I'll take Kit with me."
Kora beamed happily as he followed Atti towards the office, as Kit could tell from his tail going crazy. He sighed happily as he looked over at Jav and smiled. "And so it begins." He stated in a play-ominous tone.
"Right you are. Shall we follow them to the office? There're some forms you need to sign."
"Anything to start going to school here... this place looks great!" He replied. "I already have more friends than I ever did in my last school." He simply (and sadly) accurately stated.
Jav smiled, and then looked at him seriously. "Kit, I should tell you something. You may have been picked on in your school, but here...you should watch your back." Seeing Kit's scared face in reply, Jav held his hand. "Don't worry. I'll always be here...we have each other to protect, right?"
Kits face was still furrowed with a little worry. "I suppose you have a point... It'd be great to find a place where we were always safe... but I understand that's a long way away." He admitted in a sage-like tone. "As long as we're together, we'll be fine. I'm sure of it."
They reached the office after a short walk. "Angela...Angela...you're around here somewhere..." he said, aiming to get the secretary out of the storage room. It worked. A door opened, and Angela leaned out. "Ya?" "I need those registration forms for Kit here and his brother Kora." Jav said. "Oh sure, just a sec!" Angela replied, then dug a few sheets of paper out from under a stack. "Here y'are! Just fill in the information and sign where it says to sign."
Kit looked at the registration like he was signing an execution request for his former life. It was really happening; he was getting a new start. Both he and Kora wasted no time in filling out as much information as they possibly could before rifling their names onto the bottom of their respective forms and handing them back to Angela.
"Hehe...a little eager, are we?"
Kit nodded solemnly as he turned in the form, Kora right behind him. "This place looks enjoyable; much more than I can say about my old school."
"And if you weren't hooked up with Jav, you'd really enjoy the gym showers!" Atti interjected. Jav smacked his head. "Look who's talking! If it weren't for me, you'd be the rent boy for all the jocks!"
Kora chuckled to himself as he thought to play along. "Ah, it's okay; he and I would be the 'rent' boys together." This got exactly the reaction he was expecting out of Kit. "Geez!" He stared at his brother with an incredulous look on his face. 'When did my brother become as much of a hornball as Atti?!'
Jav barely choked down an uproarious laugh and nudged Kora playfully. "I guess Atti's rubbed off on you, huh?" He said, not realizing the double entendre. "No, we haven't gone that far yet!" Atti remarked.
Kit chocked back a laugh. "That one should've been obvious..." He covered his face with his hand and shook his head a little. "Anyway, now that Kora and I are registered what's the next step?"
"Eh...I think we have to meet with the principal, go over the rules, you know. Then you get your schedules." Jav turned to step out of the office. "Come on you three!"
The three new students filed along behind Jav leading them to the Principal's office. The hallways were abuzz with people talking, laughing, bickering, and other slight uproars as they finally reached a door with the word PRINCIPAL printed on the window in the door. After a couple of knocks a deep voice greeted them. "Come in." Kora could only imagine a giant of a guy behind the desk, and shuddered slightly, while Kit imagined about the same image. They all stepped into the office where they saw two people; a somewhat oversized Ferret sitting behind the desk and an absolutely huge Coyote sitting in one of the smaller chairs, making it look even smaller by comparison. "What's this now?" The principal addressed Jav.
"Morning, Mr. Grey. This is Kit, his brother Kora, and my brother Atticus. The registration forms are all filled out; I just need you to finalize it."
"Ah. More new students, I see, I see..." He chuckled in a sort of gravelly way. "Kent here's also starting today... maybe you'd be so kind as to help him around as well? See how good of a tour guide you can be!" He laughed heartily at his joke as the Coyote looked over at them slowly. He had a tuft of blond in his mostly grey fur, and he had bright blue - nearly white - eyes. He nodded gruffly towards all of them and said "Hello." His voice sharp, showing it was the only word he intended to say.
"Sure, we'll show him around." Jav extended his hand to Kent. "I'm Jav."
"Pleasure" Was all he said as he stood from the chair, his black shirt and jeans seeming to strain at his body. Standing up they could see his full height; he towered over all of them. Kit and Kora both looked up at him with looks of awe on their faces, and even Atti couldn't help but be a little nervous around him.
Jav seemed a little startled at Kent's height, but regained his composure. "Also, where do we pick up the schedules?" He asked the principal.
"Ah, yes, schedules... Well, I could just print them out here. I do have the power, you know." He laughed again at his own joke as he clicked around on the computer and finally the printer whirred into life, spitting out four slips. He picked them up and rattled off the names as he handed them out. "Kent... Atticus... Kitsune... and Korafune."
Atti looked at his schedule, then Kora's. "Kora! We have Art and Music together!" Jav glanced at Kit's schedule. "Kit and I have Science and Math together..."
Kora giggled at Atti "My favorite classes with my favorite person!" He smiled roguishly. "Likewise!" said Kit with a proud glow to his face.
"Alright, guys. I'll show you around. See you later, Mr. Grey." Jav turned and walked out of the room with the others in tow. The hallway they were in ended in a large lobby-type area with many other halls branching off, each with a sign above it. The signs denoted which type of class occupied the particular hall. "What d'ya want to see first?"
Kit spoke up. "I suppose first we should find our lockers..." He looked at his schedule to try and find something like a locker number. Finally he tapped the paper with a triumphant look on his face. "Aha! Locker number... 273... What section of the school does that put me in...?" Kora piped up. "I dunno, but my locker number's 252..."
Jav laughed. "Don't even bother with the lockers, almost no one uses them. They're too small to store anything, really." He said. "...let's go see the teachers we have for our classes before lunch. Kit, you and I have Mrs. Lamarr for Math and Mr. Klawiter for Science. Atti and Kora have Mr. Collins for Art and Ms. Silverman for Music."
Kit shrugged. "Sure, who should we go and see first? Like, who's the closest?" Kora was busy looking at all the people walking around them, trying to get used to big crowds and see how he would have to dodge around people to get to class on time.
"I'd recommend seeing Mr.Klawiter first...everyone says he's awesome." Jav said, and started walking slowly down the hall, avoiding the rush of students. "Goddamn traffic..." he joked.
After squeezing their way past all sorts of students, they finally made it to the Science room. It seemed to be a mix between a technology workplace and a chemical facility. There were large beakers and flasks sitting on a long table on one side of the room, while the other half of the room was strewn with nuts and bolts from various bins. There was a low bubbling noise coming from a large pot nearby and there was a sweet smell in the air. A raccoon with graying hair ambled from one side to the other, the fur on his head particularly ruffled and his eyes seemed to dart from one thing to another, completely oblivious to the students standing in the doorway.
Jav entered the room, and he raised his eyebrows at the scene. He stepped into the room, avoiding a pile of computer guts. "Excuse me? Mr. Klawiter?" A framed picture of the Back To The Future DeLorean on the wall made him roll his eyes.
Kit saw the picture as well and giggled a little. 'Something he aspires to, I guess?' he thought to himself before the teacher stopped stock still in the middle of the room, turning to see the interruptions. "Ah! Javier, my boy! Glad to see you again!" He practically materialized in front of Jav and grabbed his hand in a shake. "So how was your break? I've gotten really close to finishing that experiment back there since we left the school." He thumbed behind himself to the pot, which seemed to bubble a little more violently as soon as it was acknowledged.
Jav shook Mr. K's hand, and then chuckled. "Some day that mix is going to come alive and eat us, I swear. Anyway, my break was good. This is Kit; he's a new student in my class." He indicated Kit.
Kit smiled bashfully and bowed his head a little. "I'm sure this'll be a fun class." He said. Mr. K's face lit up as he walked over and shook Kit's hand as well. "A pleasure to meet you. Now, where did I put that...? AH! There it is!" He pulled out a phial of slightly cloudy liquid and pulled the stopper out of the top, walking towards the pot on the heating plate. There almost seemed to be an ominous darkening of the room as a single drop from the phial dripped into the pot, making it froth for a second before letting out a plume of pink smoke.
Jav giggled, knowing full well what might (and probably would) happen if the mixture became unbalanced. 'It would be hilarious if they got knocked out like I did once...' he thought. "So, what's new for this quarter?"
Mr. K scratched his chin thoughtfully. "Hmm... well, I do have that bundle of sodium in the back room... maybe we could throw it in the pool. Or I also have the chlorine cylinder... we could make salt..." Kit was laughing at the comments, thinking they were jokes until Mr. K rounded on him. "Ah, enjoy those thoughts, do ya, my boy?" Mr. K chortled as he clapped Kit on the shoulders. "There's about 3 pounds of sodium back there, too... make for one heckuva boom, you know..." He said it with such an air as to make him sound insane, and even Kent spoke up, with a simple "Crazy."
"He's not crazy...he can just be a little unorthodox, right?" "I sure can! Huh...back in my college years, I was always the one who pulled the most complicated, outlandish pranks anyone's ever seen!" Mr. K replied. "Reminds me of the time you put sodium pentothal in the faculty's coffee to find out who stole your thermal imager." Jav said, and snickered a little at the thought.
Kit's eyes went wide when he heard about the truth serum incident. He couldn't help but laugh even harder. "My god, I'm going to love this class!" Kit said as Kora nodded behind him. The pot gave off an alarming sort of 'Glorp' noise as a large bubble broke the surface, some of the blue goo inside plopping out. "Wuh oh..." Mr. K said as he ran up to the pot and grabbed hold of the handles on the sides, lifting it off the hot plate. Another large bubble broke the surface and very narrowly missed covering the teacher in goo. "What the heck IS that stuff?" Kora piped up, to which a happy teacher replied. "It's an amalgum of all sorts of desiccants, benzene compounds, and a few well known moisturizers put together with a catalyst and my own concoction of some Noble Gasses compressed into a liquid state." He rattled off the list in such an offhand manner, but it left Kora's head spinning.
Jav rolled his eyes. "Don't worry," he whispered to Kit. "He doesn't give too hard tests." He turned to address the teacher. "Gotta run, Mr. K. I have to finish showing Kit around."
Mr. K simply nodded as he set the pot down with a dull thud on the counter. "Alright, then. See you in Science!" He chuckled as he used his free hand to wave to them while clapping a lid on the pot.
Jav led Kit and the others out of the room and back down the hall to the central area. "Let's see...ah, there we go." He pointed the others towards the Math wing, and strolled down it to one room. "Here's Mrs. Lamarr's room."
With most of the students now settling down and relaxing before classes started, it was much easier to move around into the math room. There were rows of long black tables on which a bunch of graphing calculators sat, one per chair, and there were a bunch of posters hanging on the walls that talked about all sorts of math subjects.
"Nothing really special here, Mrs. Lamarr's just your standard math teacher. Just wanted to show you where the room was." They turned and walked out. "Atti, you and Kora should go see your art teacher. Kit and I have a little time before class...so...you get the picture." Jav said. "Got it. We'll leave you two to lip-lock in peace. C'mon, Kora." They walked off, back toward the middle area. "So, do you like the school so far?" Atti asked. "I'm feeling pretty impressed myself."
Kora nodded his head happily as he grabbed Atti's hand "This place is awesome! I can't wait to see the Art and Music teachers, too!" Meanwhile Kent turned around and walked silently away, but not before mumbling "Friends" underneath his breath. Kit smiled as he looked at Jav with a sort of loving look in his eyes. "This place is great; I think I'm going to like it here."
Atti jogged the rest of the way to the art teacher's room and opened the door quietly. His eyes bugged out at what he saw. The entire room was basically *coated* with art; sculptures, paintings, drawings. "Oh my..." he simply said.
The door creaked a little, making the art teacher's head pop up behind a massive stack of submitted artwork. He was a panda, obvious from his big black ears and black splotches on his eyes, which lit up when he saw the two kids standing in the doorway. "Come in! Do come in!"
Atti stepped in slowly, in awe of all the art that surrounded him. "...oh, hi! I'm Atti." He said to the art teacher. "Wow...this is a lot of art..."
Kora was wide eyed staring at the art as well as Atti was, and the teacher just chuckled in response. "Let's see if you can add to the collection, yeah?" He said with a roguish grin before his eyes settled on Atti. "Say... you look... kinda familiar." He trailed off.
"Well, if you know my mom, you've probably seen me. She's Marie Chalfant...ring any bells?"
The teacher coughed in surprise, as if the information had knocked the wind out of him. "Y-You were the statue!" He said, soon laughing. "I thought it was really a statue! You did a great job!" The teacher didn't even seem phased about the fact that he was looking at one of his future students in the museum that day.
"Hehe...Kora here fell for the statue thing, too." Atti put his arm around Kora and squeezed him. "It was hilarious!"
Kora bristled a little. "Yeah, funny for you maybe... Falling on my butt hurt...!" He rubbed his rear theatrically as he laughed. Reminiscing on the museum also made him think about his dad for a split second, but soon it was shaken from his mind.
"Awww, I didn't mean for it to hurt..." Atti pecked Kora on the cheek, not really caring about the fact that the art teacher was watching them. "Hey, if it wasn't for me as a statue, we wouldn't have met."
Kora smoothed his fur down and giggled when Atti kissed him. "Yeah, you have a point there. It would've been a shame if I hadn't met you." He "Have fun and play nice, you two...!" The art teacher called out behind them as the door closed. Kora chuckled at the comment. "He has no idea how we could twist that..." He hugged Atti in front of the teacher, who then cleared his throat. "You know, I should be enforcing the 'hands off' policy they have around here..."
"Now what fun would that be?" Atti joked. "Anyway, it's nice to meet you. I think I'm going to like this class...if the piles of artwork are any indication." He grinned, excited to be in a good art class.
"I can assure you you'll like this class. You practically get to make whatever you want; we have it all!" The art teacher puffed up proudly. "And you also have one of the best art teachers in the area, too!"
"I can see that!" Atti remarked. "Okay, we gotta go see the music teacher; we'll be back before class starts."
"Right you are." Atti high-fived him, then walked a couple yards down to the music room. "I hope the music room is as good as the art room!" With that he opened the door, and wasn't disappointed. Tons of instruments ranging in type and size lay around the room, and at the center, a leopard with silver hair was busy tuning a guitar. "Err...hi?" "Eh? Oh, hello there. I'm Ms. Silverman. And before you ask, my name is Eliza. Not Sarah." she stood up and extended her hand. "Are you going to be taking my class?"
Kora was starry-eyed as he saw all the instruments lying around them. "I think I'm going to like this class..." He said under his breath as he then looked at Ms. Silverman. "Do you also teach Choir?" He asked her.
"Yeah, I do teach Choir. Would you like to sign up? We're always looking for talented singers...and I'd love to hear you!" She said. "Can you sing something now, honey? Please?" Atti pleaded.
Kora stepped a little way away from the teacher and Atti, feeling nervous and trying to keep it from affecting him. He took a deep breath and brought the words to mind as he closed his eyes and began to sing. "Alone for a while, I've been searching through the dark..."
Atti listened silently, the song starting to draw him in.
Kora's eyes parted a little bit to see the reaction he was getting, and seeing Atti's reaction made him a little braver as he continued. "In my dearest memories... I see you reaching out to me..."
Atti closed his eyes, feeling the song's effect on him. 'Beautiful...'
Kora continued. "For traces of the love you left inside my lonely heart
To weave by picking up the pieces that remain
Melodies of life--love's lost refrain
Our paths they did cross, though I cannot say just why
We met, we laughed, we held on fast, and then we said goodbye
And who'll hear the echoes of stories never told?
Let them ring out loud till they unfold
In my dearest memories, I see you reaching out to me
Though you're gone, I still believe that you can call out my name
A voice from the past, joining yours and mine
Adding up the layers of harmony
And so it goes, on and on
Melodies of life,
To the sky beyond the flying birds--forever and beyond
So far and away, see the bird as it flies by
Gliding through the shadows of the clouds up in the sky
I've laid my memories and dreams upon those wings
Leave them now and see what tomorrow brings
In your dearest memories, do you remember loving me?
Was it fate that brought us close and now leaves me behind?
If I should leave this lonely world behind
Your voice will still remember our melody
Now I know we'll carry on
Melodies of life
Come circle round and grow deep in our hearts
As long as we remember..."
