Renamon's Secret Love Chapter II Betrayal
Sunlight filled the room, washing brightly over Rika and Renamon. The warmth of the light brought Rika to a slow and joyous awakening. She stretched and clutched Renamon's arm that still lay across her waist. She yawned and smiled.
"Rena?" Asked Rika as she turned towards Renamon.
"Good morning, Rika." She smiled and licked Rika's cheek. "Stay in bed, I'll make us some breakfast."
Rika smiled and kissed Renamon before snuggling up in all of the blankets. Renamon got up and stretched. She padded into the kitchen happily and opened her box of recipes as her tail swished back and forth. She turned the stove on and placed a pan over the fire. After all of her ingredients were collected on the counter, she placed a few slices of bacon in the pan. As it hit the hot surface, the bacon popped and sizzled, releasing a pleasing aroma into the air. Renamon smiled again as she saw her bacon cook very nicely. After about twenty minutes of cooking, all of the food was arranged on two plates that rested happily on the table. Rika walked drowsily into the kitchen and wrapped her arms around Renamon's waist.
"You have perfect timing, Rika. I just now finished cooking." Renamon frowned a bit. "Though I was sort of hoping to give you breakfast in bed."
Rika simply smiled and hugged her lover's waist tighter. "I would prefer to be sitting with you at the table while we eat."
"Well next time we'll both have breakfast in bed."
Rika giggled as she sat down at the table. She looked down at the food. The appetizing scent of the eggs, bacon and waffles mixed together brought a smile to Rika's face.
"Rena, you made this?"
Renamon nodded. "I've been learning to cook for the past month. I think I'm quite decent at it if I do say so myself." She said taking another bite of her food.
"Wow, Rena! This is delicious! It only took you a month to learn how to cook like this?"
"Um, yeah... It's not a very complicated dish."
"I wish I could cook." Rika giggled as she took another bite of the delicious food.
Renamon blushed and began to eat as well. A bit of time was spent in silence between the two before Renamon spoke.
"Rika... I wanted to tell you something. It's kind of important."
"What is it? You know you can tell me anything."
"I wanted to say that... I... I love you." Renamon said finally, blushing very heavily. Rika was caught off guard by this sudden confession, and was speechless. After a few seconds, she regained her lost train of thought.
"Oh, Renamon, I love you too. I always have." She said, burying her head in Renamon's chest and wrapping her in a tight hug. Renamon blushed, but went along with the hug. Rika looked up from Renamon's chest and into her eyes. The two were lost in a moment of beautiful silence. After what seemed like an eternity, they both leaned in for a light kiss. As their lips touched, the hug shifted into a loving embrace. The two lovers were in a state of bliss. However, the moment was short lived as the romantic atmosphere was broken with the sharp beep of Rika's watch. They pulled away from each other. Rika looked down at her watch and gasped.
"I'm gonna be late for school!" She looked to Rika and gave her a light kiss on the cheek. "I'll be back around six, like always, all right?"
"Okay." Renamon nodded weakly. Rika grabbed her backpack and disappeared through the front door. After Rika was gone, the room fell silent. Renamon tried to think about what she could do while Rika was gone. She grabbed the small box that contained her special recipes. She giggled and had a brilliant idea. She ran into the kitchen and turned the stove on, raiding the fridge for all of the ingredients she would need to make the perfect dinner.
"Hey Rika! What's up?" Zell asked as he ran up to her from the front door of the school.
"Oh, hi Zell." Rika waved. "What are you looking so happy about?"
"What do you mean? I'm happy about your birthday present!" He exclaimed.
"My birthday isn't for another 2 months."
Zell gave a mischievous grin. "Well, then I guess I'll give you the tickets to the Wolfkri concert for tonight in two months, huh?"
"Are you serious?! You got tickets for that concert?!" Rika squealed, snatching the tickets from his hand. "I thought they were sold out! How did you get these?"
Zell shrugged. "I know a guy that works at the ticket office, and he saved these for me. So you are going to go aren't you?"
"Well, I don't know... I told Renamon I would be back around six, and these concerts last until late at night."
"So what if you told her you would be back. I though she was your Digimon, not your mom. Just tell her that you wanted to go to a concert so you made it home late."
Rika frowned a bit. I can't just stand Renamon up... But then again, I think she might understand if I go to see my favorite band that's only playing one night. She reasoned with herself. "
"So what do you say, Rika?"
"Alright, I'll go. But we have to be back as soon as we can." Rika said as she headed off to class.
Rika opened the door slowly, trying hard not to make any noise as she entered the apartment. She looked at the digital clock on the wall. 3:00 am. She went to her room and put her stuff away. She went to kiss Renamon goodnight, but found that she wasn't in her room. A deep feeling of regret quickly took Rika over and she began searching the house frantically for Renamon. She searched in the living room, the bathroom, and anywhere else she could think of. Finally, she found her. As she flipped the kitchen light on, she saw Renamon asleep, sitting at the table. What she saw next brought tears to her eyes. The table had a beautiful new cloth on it, and was adorned expertly with two candles that were completely burned out, and the wax had run down the candlestick to the table. At each end of the table, there was a dish fixed with steak and a few side dishes. In the middle of the table sat the main courses, and a delicious looking desert. Soft and soothing music had been playing in the background, but the song was now skipping. Finally, she looked down at Renamon. Her head lay in her arms, and the fur around her eyes was matted down and wet. She had been crying.
