We can Coincide Chapter 4: The Crash
#4 of We can Coincide
Warning Some bad language up ahead.
We began our mall trip by taking a seat in a small food court, just so we could discuss what were going to do next. And plus, sitting around in a mall is a pretty typical action. My dad started off by saying, "alright, your mom and I have to be at the hospital in a hour. So if you two need anything after that just text us alright?" My parents typically wouldn't let me stay at the mall alone, but I guess having Lu around eased there minds.
I was planning on just giving a simple okay, but I was curious to what their reasoning was, "letting me stay at the mall alone?"
My mom quickly answered, "well I think Lucario just proved that he is a pretty faithful guardian. And if you somehow get harmed with him around, then we wouldn't of been able to do anything different."
Lucario gave a warm smile towards my mother and said, "yeah, you have nothing to fear."
My dad stood up from his seat, and patted Lucario on the head. "Welcome to the family bud, didn't get the chance to say it earlier. Alright you two run off now, we are going to check a few things out and head home alright?"
Lucario and I both nodded and stood up, heading off deeper into the mall together. As we walked past several groups of people and stores, Lucario eventually grabbed my arm and started to pull me into a nearby store. I looked up at the sign and it read, "Tranquility." As he pulled me into the store, a small group of people looked at us laughed. I guess it is pretty odd to see a human being drug into a store by a Pokemon.
As I was just about to ask Lu why we were in a furniture store he quickly spoke, "I was at this type of store a long time ago, back when I was just a little Riolu. The location isn't the same, but the name definitely is."
"Oh really, who took you there?" I figured this was one of his old trainer stories.
"Yeah about that..." He pulled me into a corner of the store, and sat me down on a rather comfortable love seat. He sat down next to me and continued his story. "Well at that point in time, I was alone. Or homeless I guess you could call it. My parents had just abandoned me, so I had to find some place to sleep my nights away."
I wrapped my arm around him, attempting to let him know that I was one hundred percent here for him.
He picked up on my advancement and laughed, "and it seems like those days are long gone now." He closed his eyes simply enjoying my company. I still find it amazing how I can make Lu rip off his hard outer shell, and bring out his soft side. And I sure as hell don't want him to be some warrior. I snapped out my thoughts and looked around the store.
Lucario flinched at my sudden jerk, "something wrong?"
"Oh no, I was lost in thought and kinda snapped back." I figured that was the best, and only way to explain it.
He shifted towards me on the couch, and pierced through my eyes with his. He slyly said, "and what was goin' on inside that head of yours?"
I had to think of a quick response but I just couldn't. _Dammit, it's practically like he knew I was thinking about him! _
Before I even had time to answer, he followed up his question with, "you were thinking about me... weren't you?"
I stammered out, "I... uhh... yeah..." Right after I finished my sentence, I quickly buried my head into my knees attempting to hide my obvious red face. But before I even had time to say a word, or explain myself, I found myself in a very comfortable and warm embrace.
He drew in a large breath and said, "I honestly haven't stopped thinking about you since we first met. My first reaction was, oh great another kid who is going to put me into a tiny ball and use me to beat up other Pokemon. But you Sarah, you took me in as an absolute equal. Sitting here with you in my arms is the very least I can do to show my appreciation. And you are the first creature on this Earth, to take my flaw as a benefit. You've even managed to turn my nightmares into more peaceful and pleasant dreams. It has to be a sign that my first good dream was just about you. There is absolutely no way I will ever leave you, unless you say so otherwise."
As soon as he finished, I could feel tears starting to build up, but I tried my best to hide it from the public, and Lu. But there was no way I could hide anything from him. Come on Sarah not now, get a grip! But even my own urge to prevent crying didn't work. I busted out into tears and drove my head into Lu's chest trying to hide from public eyes.
He grasped me once again and said, "I'm sorry If I..."
I replied choking through tears, "thank you." I looked up into his eyes and he seemed quite concerned. Just his eyes alone put me at ease, like he was telling me it's alright. "Heh, I was a completely different person just three days ago. You of all people made me drop my defensive barrier to the world and made sure everything would be okay. I don't wanna get too depressing here, but literally every breath I take now is all thanks to you. Any time I even look at you, everything else just fades away. All the pain, sorrow, and despair has been one hundred percent worth it. I've been praying that you felt the same."
My short speech seemed to hit him emotionally as well. I noticed a small wet streak on his fur, but he retained a smile on his face regardless. He pulled me in a little closer and said, "I feel exactly the same way. Everything I've gone through is just a little scratch compared to you being in my arms right now." He lightly tapped his head against mine, "So Sarah don't worry about the world so much anymore, I'm here for yah."
I happily assured him, "well bud I can't see myself just letting you go. So you don't have to worry about being alone anymore. And don't ever forget this, I love you!" We both happily smiled at those words, and stood up from our seats. I'm surprised no one confronted us. I grabbed his paw and led us out store back into the mall. Honestly I thought we looked like a couple, and if any one had an issue with that, they could go bite it. Who would of guessed that a Lucario could easily of become your best friend in just two days. He has even been more kind to me than my own parents. Hell even I've been a much nicer person since he came into my life. Heh I also owe him my spirit too.
We walked around the mall for a few hours. I pointed out a few stores I liked, and showed him some 'odd' things one could buy at a store. Also to our surprise, no one persecuted us. I was about to ask Lu what he wanted to do next before my phone buzzed in my pocket.
Lu looked down at my pocket and asked, "what was that?"
I laughed and pulled out my phone, "just my phone, probably got a text message."
He once again asked, "and what is that?"
"A written message from someone else, it's pretty simple honestly." I opened the text message and it was from my mother.
The message read, "you two having a good time????"
Have enough question marks mom? I looked up from my phone and back at Lucario and asked, "you having a good time?"
He happily replied, "of course!"
I smiled and returned to my phone, "me too." I sent a message back to my mom saying "yeah". I locked my phone and slipped it back into my pocket. "Alright you ready to head home?"
"If you want, sure."
I grabbed his paw once again but we only made it a few feet before my phone went off again.
Lu taunted me, "getting popular now are we?"
"Apparently so, this is getting a bit ridiculous." I let go of his paw and pulled my phone out once again. It was another message from my mother asking me what we did so far. _Oh come on mom, what do you think we did in a freaking mall? _
I started to text her back, "well we started with Tranq..." But before a could finish my message, someone bumped into me and knocked my phone onto the floor. I looked up to see what exactly happened, and I was quickly filled with hatred.
"Oh looky here, this whore doesn't even pay attention to her little mutt. Let me guess that phone is giving you more pleasure than he gave you last night. Isn't it?"
Something always has to go wrong doesn't it?! She even brought friends this time... I could sense Lu's inner rage building up as she insulted me for the second time in two days. I tried to remain calm, for Lu's sake. "Lu, whatever you do, don't touch them."
I turned around to look Lu in the eyes, and I saw the same hardened warrior face again. But he was looking at me this time. This time though, I could easily tell that he just wanted to protect me, and that was all to it. He nodded at my request and remained silent. Probably better he didn't speak, would of caused even more problems.
"Oh I guess he slaves around your commands too? I'm getting jealous here." I just laughed and bent over to pick up my phone. "Oh bending over for him too? you'd probably do him right here wouldn't you? Yeah, I bet that little shit would like that, wouldn't he?"
That's fucking it! I jumped up to my feet, and swung at the girl, my fist connected with her face, instantly knocking her to the floor. It took me a few seconds to return to reality, I looked down at the floor and just realized what I did. _I just committed assault! Oh what the hell was I thinking! _
But that wasn't the end. Her friends picked her up in a matter of seconds and she looked at Lucario straight in the eyes. "Yeah, and you thought I was the bad guy right? Congrats you are now the slave of an abusive owner. Enjoy the rest of your life stuck with human trash." She laughed maniacally, "yeah go ask her about her deceased siblings, or her parents that absolutely despise her." She walked away flipping me off, "the whole world would be a better place without you Sarah!"
I could feel my heart pounding in my chest, screaming out in agony. She managed to rip apart my entire life in less than five sentences... Lu quickly grabbed me and held onto me in a very comforting hug. I really am worthless aren't I? So worthless to the point I need to be held after every little thing I do. "None of those words were true Sarah. Don't lie to yourself and say they are, alright?"
I stopped him mid speech and broke away from his arms. I was already in the full stages of crying, I had nothing left to hold onto but pure depression and agony. I managed to face him and weakly let out, "I don't deserve you..." He started to speak again, but I was already running towards the main exit of the mall. She's right I'm just human trash. Some people in the mall turned to look at me as I made quite a commotion trying to escape the mall.
I eventually broke free of the mall's choking chains and made it out onto the side walk. I heard foot steps behind me and Lu yelling, "Sarah where are you going?!"
I turned around to face Lucario who seemed rather terrified. I was completely oblivious to my positioning on the sidewalk and took a step off the curb and onto the street. "Sarah I love you!"
Those words only made me feel worse. And I replied the only way I thought I could. "I don't deserve it Lu! I can't even treat you rig-"
BAM! Everything suddenly entered slow motion. My vision was suddenly blurry, my ears ringing, and I knew my feet were no longer on solid ground. Oxygen completely left my lungs, as I collided with the ground with a deafening thud. I... I can't feel my legs... I... I can't move! Oh god what just happened! I did manage to make out the sounds of Lucario screaming out, "Sarah!" I felt my body being lifted up into the air once again. I was on the verge of losing consciousness from the blow. "Sarah? Sarah! Don't leave me alone!" I was encased by a very odd blue pulsating light, as my body bounced up and down from each of Lu's steps. "I love you Sarah... I love you so freaking much!"
I tried to speak, but I just couldn't form a word. You have no idea, but I love you more than myself Lu...
Suddenly a small drop of water fell on my face. I couldn't really make out any objects but, it wasn't supposed to rain today. "You're... all... I... have... left. Don't leave me!" I tried to grab him to show him I was okay, but my eyes completely shut close, and I lost all contact to the outside world except my thoughts.
