Bartender
I'd written plenty of stories before, but this was the first one I felt truly proud of- and the first one I deigned to share with the world. I never fully developed a setting for this story, but the narration and dialogue imply some interesting things that I'd kind of like to revisit at some point.
Bartender
by RaptorianOneOver these past few weeks, I notice I've practically been begging for more massages. It's not physical pain that troubles me, but being under the skilled talons of a hawk anthro seems to take my mind to a happier place for a while. Then, I remember ...Damn that skunk. Her name was Naara, and she was, well ... HOT. Steaming, smoldering hot. And she wasn't just another notch on the belt. I finally thought I'd found The One - the one girl I could truly bare my soul to - but when I did, she shot me down.Yet somehow I still can't be entirely mad at her. Maybe because I still want that lovely body of hers. Those wonderful curves and that lustrous silver hair ... she never wore her hair long, except on "special occasions". Damn, just thinking about it makes me yi"Aldrin?" A male voice snapped me out of my reverie. I quickly stashed away my journal and pen. I was pissed off at first, but in retrospect, he'd probably saved me from an embarrassing moment. Before I'd become lost in thought, I had been shopping in the commons-market. (Humans call it 'supermarket', but that seems a bit pretentious.) I knew that voice, too. That low, soft tenor... I had hardly expected to see him here. I turned around, facing him with a smile on my muzzle. It was the hawk from the massage parlor. Red-tailed hawk, to be precise. He was a bit shorter than myself and had a slim, athletic build. Looked like he was shopping, too - he was using his wings to push a cart along. Wings instead of arms - he'd always used his taloned toes to grasp things. He was damn good with them, too - they could apply as much pressure, or as little, as he desired. No wonder he became a masseur - probably an easy career choice when you have feet like that. Normally he kept them bare, but this was a cold day, so he'd wrapped his feet in bandages for warmth. He also wore a pair of simple but functional pants, while his upper half was unshod."Hey, Cirryn," I said, still smiling, with my fluffy snow-leopard tail mindlessly swaying behind me. "Surprised to see you here.""I need groceries too, you know." He shrugged - a strangely convincing gesture, for his lack of arms. "Oh, you said you were gonna talk to Naara, right? Did you do that?"I frowned. He'd hit a sore spot, but it wasn't just the skill of his talons that compelled me to choose this avian every time I went to the massage parlor. It was also his open mind and open ears, a quality the other masseurs seemed to lack. They would all just go "Mm-hmm" as they did their work, not really listening. Cirryn was different. I would sometimes call him Bartender as a nod to all those movies with talkative, helpful liquor-servers... and Cirryn would just roll his eyes and say 'Real bartenders aren't like that.'"Aldrin?" He gently spoke my name, bringing my attention back to him. Heh,
he knew me so well. Must have known my mind was wandering again."Yeah, I talked to Naara..." I sighed. "It's over between us. She said she's 'scared of commitment' - and then she ran off and married some rich guy. Hope they'll be happy together... I don't deserve her, anyway.""Oh, stop it. More like she doesn't deserve you." He smirked somehow, despite his beak."Yeah." I was beginning to realize that... but very slowly. For now, I was still in pain and still couldn't get over her. "Ugh. I could use your company, honestly. How about we go get some coffee?"He quickly countered with, "How about a massage?"I blinked. "What, next time you work? Sure.""No, right now. Free of charge." Cirryn smiled. His voice was so sincere... "A free massage for a friend and a good guy. Can you really say no to that?"I really couldn't.Several minutes later, I was naked, laying inert under the avian as he did what he does best ... and wow, could that ever be taken the wrong way.Cirryn's talons were bare now, but he was still wearing those pants for modesty's sake. Myself? Stark naked - modesty be damned. It was better this way - he mostly focused on my upper body, but sometimes his toetips would knead into my gluteal muscles, which felt damned amazing. I melted under him, enjoying the relaxation and freedom of the whole experience. I'd never figured out how he could be so gentle and precise with those rough prey-killing claws - I'd never really tried asking. Probably a trade secret.Minutes passed. Then, he suddenly broke the silence: "You know, I went through a breakup recently, too."I didn't know that. In fact, I was quite surprised to realize that in spite of all I'd told him about myself, I'd never learned much about him. I knew he was a good listener, and the best damn masseur this side of the Fyrran River. That was about it.So, naturally, I was curious. "What was her name?"Cirryn stopped and, for the first time I could remember, his talons almost hurt - but he climbed off before any real damage was done. He looked ... indignant. "His name--""Him?" The surprise was clear in my voice. I never thought he was the type - he'd never seemed fey or flamboyant. He folded his wings over his chest, adopting a defensive posture. "Yes, him. I'm gay."I pursed my lips. "But, the avian population is so low. You're...""Breaking the law." He nodded. "Procreation is progress and all that bullshit, right? But look, I had a female mate once. It didn't feel right, not one bit. And I'd rather be a criminal than live a lie."I couldn't think of a response to that."Why do you care, anyway?" He gave me a look. "Are you going to turn me in?""No," I admitted. "You're too ... close to me. You're a ... you're a real friend, Cirryn, and I wouldn't stab you in the back like that."A smile slowly took shape on
his beak. "Then you have my thanks." He climbed back up and resumed the massage. We fell back into silence while his talons finished their work, but it wasn't long before I was fully relieved. I motioned him off - he nodded in compliance and stood next to me.For a moment, I just stared at him, somehow fascinated by his coloration. He was dark brown, with a white chest and belly, and the rusty-red tailfeathers for which his species had been named."Aldrin," he began. He looked into my eyes. His were brown. I'd never bothered to notice that before, either."Yeah?""Are you ... no, I shouldn't ask. I'm prying. Sorry."Curiosity got the best of me. I guess that saying about cats is true. "No, no. What is it?""Are you ... You've always been talking about Naara, and I know she's ... a she, and you never really said anything about anyone else before. So ...""What the hell are you on about?""Are you bi?" he blurted out awkwardly. If it were anyone else, I would've had a knee-jerk reaction of 'hell no'. But because this was Cirryn, the question made me think. I had to conjure up an answer. I knew what I thought was the answer, but I didn't really know. I was suddenly forced to question myself. But I finally answered, with some difficulty: "I've... never really thought about it." I could not think of a way to get any closer to the truth. "I've always thought of myself as straight, and I've never really been attracted to guys..." Except you, I almost wanted to say. He was so warm and accepting. Whenever I showed weakness, he was a pillar of strength - while Naara'd always just told me to 'man up'.Unfortunately, Cirryn could not read my mind. Having heard what he thought was a rejection, he looked... defeated. And for some reason, I just couldn't bring myself to tell the whole truth."I like you," he said with a sigh. "And, I've always wondered if you were ... if we'd ever have any chance of getting together, you know. You're ... Aldrin, you're really a great guy."I stammered helplessly; "I... really don't know, Cirryn, I really..." I felt like I couldn't breathe."I know." He nodded. "So, I ... won't push the subject. I'll just... let you go back home, and - and I'll get back to doing my job..." He was close to tears - and I was close to choking. Why can't I spit it out!? It touched my heart to know that he cared so much for me... I truly wanted to stay and talk it out, but he was practically begging me to leave.I sighed and made my way back home.I learned something that day. When your trusty Bartender develops a crush on you, that's a whole new kind of awkward. We'd been so close before, but now it seemed we were countless miles apart. What's worse, I had no one else to talk to. My parents were too uptight, my siblings didn't care, and psychologists were too expensive. For the first time in a long time, I felt truly
alone.I was miserable, and misery loves company.Naara and her husband visited one day, about two weeks later. It was far from civil - she constantly reminded me that her new paramour was 'ten times better than you'll ever be'. And they had sex on my bed - with me still in the house. After they'd shared their orgasms, I heard her utter "We should do it here more often... it's just like our first time."That was it. Even in my sorry state, there was only so much I could take. At that moment I knew that I had to find Cirryn and sort things out... but not before a quick call to the police.Once that was done, I was off to the massage parlor. They were always crowded on Saturday. I sat for over an hour while the female masseurs gave me 'come hither' looks - but I shrugged them off. I'd come here for Cirryn. As it turned out, Cirryn was extremely busy - I saw client after client leave his room, only to be immediately replaced by the next. The poor hawk didn't get a single moment of respite.I closed my eyes and lost track of time until someone finally told me "We're closed."I promptly awoke and saw the avian standing before me. "Cirryn!""Oh." He drooped his head, as if he'd hoped I wouldn't recognize him. "Look, I'm ... sorry. I'm sure my little 'confession' was the last thing you needed to hear. You just wanted a friend, and I tried to be more ... even though it's against our policy and against--"I stood up and stopped him the only way I knew how - I kissed him, square on the beak. Mostly to shut him up and get his attention, but ... partially because I'd just missed him that much. And maybe ... maybe, all along, I'd really wanted to.Cirryn broke the kiss and stared at me. "Are you...?"I exhaled heavily as I spoke, as if forcing the words to come out. "I'm sorry couldn't bring myself to say this last time... you know how I always call you 'bartender', yeah? I trust you like nobody else. I admire you. I... I love you, even. I still don't know if I'm gay or bi, but even if I'm straight... I think I'll make an exception for you."Awkward silence reigned until Cirryn finally replied: "And... you won't regret it?""What's there to regret?" I smiled sincerely. "Best I can tell, I don't have much to lose, especially when it involves such a kind and attractive bird." Shocked by my words, he widened his eyes and his body stiffened with nervousness. I realized that he didn't want to make the first move and kissed him again, this time probing my tongue into his beak.Funny how things change. Hours ago, I'd have thought this was impossible. I had all these assumptions about myself - that I was straight, and it was set in stone - but with Cirryn, I was all too happy to toss aside my assumptions... and my clothes.I lay naked on my back and tugged at the bird's pants. Once, twice, and they fell. As I'd suspected, the white marking covered his crotch
and then faded back to brown at the thighs. His crotch was flat, almost like a female's, but I knew thanks to that avian anatomy class I took that his penis was still there, just stored internally. I also knew that, right now, I truly wanted to see it."Uh... sixty-nine?" I smiled awkwardly.Cirryn blushed and smiled back, nodding as he climbed on top of me. His beak was down there at my sheath, and my muzzle was ... I nudged forward and felt his genital slit. He let out a surprised but pleasurable coo as I nuzzled his nethers."There is a cock in here, right?" I managed a chuckle. Mine was already making its way out, with the bird's warm, smooth tongue brushing up and down along it."Mmm, you'll find out soon..." And I did. I could see his tip poking out. Without hesitation, I wrapped my muzzle around it and sucked, gentle and curious. I doubt I could describe the taste or the feel of it very well, but ... it wasn't bad. I licked at the tip of it, urging out more of his maleness.I suddenly felt warmth and wetness surrounding my cock. It was a familiar enough sensation to know what was going on, but that beak felt ... different. I wouldn't dare to say it was different in a bad way, though. The bird wrapped his tongue around my member, and I sucked harder on his. Soon, both of us were throbbing and drooling precum, and neither of us could care less. We just pleasured each other for what seemed like an eternity. I shuddered and purred under him as his beak gave me a world of strange new sensations. After several minutes, I released his cock from my muzzle and looked at him sheepishly. "C-Cirryn, I'm gonna..."He blushed but kept going, pressing the underside of my shaft against the fleshy roof of his mouth. He obviously wanted my cum, and that beak of his felt just too good to resist. I shuddered again, then blushed and whimper-moaned as I hit my climax. My eyes went hazy as I watched his body smoothly bobbing and swaying, his beak still engulfing my cock. He moved a wing and I felt the feathers brush-brushing against my balls, urging out every drop I could give him.Once my peak had finally subsided, I turned my attention back to his member. I felt like I owed him one, now - and nothing about that felt strange or unnatural, even though this was the first time I'd even seen another male's penis erect. In this blissful moment, none of that mattered one bit.And so, without a second thought, I took his cock back into my muzzle. I sucked firmly as if my life depended upon it, stroking along the sensitive organ with my feline tongue. I bobbed my head back and forth, even taking his tip into my throat once or twice. It only took about sixty seconds to finish the job, but it seemed like a lot longer than that to me. And when he finally came, he squawked and instinctively thrusted into my mouth. I gagged at first, but somehow managed not to choke, just swallowing the bird seed as it flowed along my
tongue. I got a thorough taste of it as it went down ... it was surprisingly good. After a moment, there was silence. Cirryn twitched a bit and exhaled a sigh... then he started to leave.I grabbed him by the waist. "Hey ... stay here.""Huh...?""I said, stay here." I couldn't help but notice I was smiling a little. "I promised you I wouldn't regret this, and I don't. You shouldn't, either.""But you're... I shouldn't have...""Just ... stay. Please." I was begging for it. Begging. I couldn't remember ever doing that before... but now it was obvious to me.He nodded ... and soon he was on top of me again. This time, we were face to face."I never thought I'd say this to a guy, but the truth is ...""I love you," Cirryn finished for me."Yeah... is that weird?""I don't know ... does it feel weird?""Not really.""Then it's not." He beak-smiled. "Whatever comes of this... at least we enjoyed it.""I think I'd enjoy doing it again..." I said with a chuckle. He smiled again. "Well, you know where to find me."I was only joking, but ... let's just say I'm a complicated soul. Part of me was actually wondering. "You think it's fate?""Who knows." Cirryn shrugged and pressed his beak into my chest fur. "Fate is just what we make of it. I don't know if we belong together or anything like that. But it feels right - that's good enough for me.""Me, too." I nodded. His beak met my muzzle and we shared a long, deep kiss. Only when it finally ended did he speak again. "So, sleeping with your Bartender?" he gave me a teasing look. "You sure that will work?""Well, you'll still be my Bartender ... just a Bartender with benefits.""Mmm-hmm..." He chuckled."Let's go to my place. The cops should've taken care of my 'visitors' by now..."Several minutes later, I was naked, laying inert under the avian as he did what he does best.Dirty-minded readers are probably right this time.
