"Go on, eat him."

Kara said nothing.

"Either you eat him or I will; it's your choice." Agnidev grinned.

Kara looked into Zack's eyes and knew what he wanted to do. She quickly grabbed him out of Agnidev's grasp and placed him on the ground. For Zack, time seemed to slow down dramatically as he felt his mind empty. He watched Agnidev's hand slowly approach. He felt the power surge through his veins, the magic causing his body to grow and change. Before Agnidev could even touch him, he had already begun his change. By the time Agnidev saw what was happening, he had already grabbed Zack's body. He couldn't hold on for long, however, as Zack's torso grew exponentially fast. Scales erupted from his form with a massive flash of light. Agnidev and Kara covered their eyes as the transformation neared its end. Agnidev stepped back, disoriented by the intense flash from Zack. When Agnidev's eyes adjusted to his surroundings again, what he saw astonished him.

A glisteningly metallic silver colored dragon had appeared in Zack's place, defensively standing in front of Kara.

Zack glared down Agnidev.

"What a neat magic trick, human, but don't you think that dragoness behind you deserves a real dragon?" Agnidev sneered.

"You don't deserve to be called a real dragon!" Kara growled. "You're pathetic!"

"Temper temper, Kara. When I'm done with this sorry excuse for dragon, we're going to have to have a discussion about knowing your place.

Kara snarled. She opened her mouth to speak but Zack spoke first.

"Agnidev, you need to leave Kara alone now. Move on. She wants nothing to do with you now."

Agnidev laughed. "Do you really think you can boss me around just because you learned a clever trick? You'll be lucky if you get out of this confrontation alive."

"Agnidev, I don't want to fight you, I just want you to stop bothering us."

"Well, unfortunately for you then, that is not going to happen. We're going to settle this the way that real dragons settle disputes." Agnidev said with a devilish smile.

Without another word, he charged at Zack, claws and teeth bared. Both Zack and Kara jumped out of the way. Agnidev swung at Zack, missing by only a hair. Zack continued to dodge with no intention of fighting. Agnidev chased him around, clawing at Zack, barely missing each time. Zack's reflexes were to fast for Him. Agnidev continued to get more and more frustrated.

"Fight like a real dragon!" Agnidev roared.

"Leave us alone!" Zack roared back.

Agnidev finally noticed that Zack was about to corner himself. Maneuvering in just the right way, he trapped Zack. Pouncing on Zack, Agnidev wasted no time in clawing at Zack's scales. Claws met flesh and Zack was met with excruciating pain. Agnidev continued to maul him, cutting deep into Zack, biting and ripping at him. Kara rushed over and tried to push Agnidev off of Zack. Agnidev was too strong for Kara. He kicked her aside.

Kara landed on her side. Agnidev stood up from the barely moving Zack and stalked over towards her. Kara backed away as Agnidev approached, sharp teeth stained with Zack's blood showing, lips curling into a sadistic smile.

"I always love our little encounters, they always bring me so much pleasure." Agnidev said, staring down at Kara. "Hopefully now that you know you can't get away from me, you will stop trying."

Kara spat in his face.

"You're going to pay for that one, my dear. Just wait and see.

Zack opened his eyes, the bright sun blinding him, causing him to look away. He looked to his side and saw Agnidev and Kara. Kara was backing away from Agnidev as he stalked her. Zack tried desperately to stand up. His body ached but he fought the pain. As he stood up, he felt one of his legs falter, causing him to lose his balance and fall again. Zack pushed onwards, he had to help Kara. He looked up at the two, Kara had backed herself into a corner. Agnidev smiled, knowing he now had the upper hand. With his large front paws, he rolled her over and pinned her down in the grass. Kara whimpered under the weight of her assailant. Agnidev brought his muzzle down and slowly licked her neck. Kara squirmed against the provocative touch, fighting with all her might for it to stop. She tried to remember a spell to help her but Agnidev continued to cause her to lose focus with his ceaseless advances. She eventually resorted back to trying to claw at him or kick him. She couldn't help but cry as all of her magic failed her when she needed it the most.

Suddenly, Kara couldn't feel the weight of Agnidev on top of her. The licking stopped and the touching stopped. She opened her eyes to find Agnidev being pinned down by Zack. Agnidev squirmed in his clutches much like she did in Agnidev's.

"I said that I didn't want to fight you but you've given me no choice. He clawed at Agnidev, ripping flesh with force that not even Agnidev could have achieved. Agnidev fought back, making contact only a few times. Thy rolled around, biting and clawing at each other. Roars of anger and pain filled the forest as they fought. Agnidev rolled over, finally having the upper hand as they fought. He thrashed at Zack, wounding him badly. With all the strength he had left in him, Zack positioned his legs underneath Agnidev and kicked, causing the large maroon dragon to fly off him backwards. Agnidev made contact head first with a few trees, his momentum pushing him through until he finally came to rest, a path of destruction in his wake. When Agnidev finally stopped, he didn't move. It seemed as though Zack had knocked him out.

Zack immediately turned around to see if Kara was okay. She laid on her side, breathing heavily and labored. He rushed over to her and rolled her over onto her back, her eyes were closed and she pushed away at him.

"Kara, it's me, it's Zack, don't worry."

She opened her eyes. He came in close to inspect a bite mark on her neck. It didn't look bad, quite survivable, in fact. He looked up to see tears rolling down her face.

"I'm so glad you're okay," Zack said, relieved.

She looked up at him, her eyes locking with his. Her tears continued to flow freely, silently thanking him for everything he's done for her. He watched as she closed them once more and brought her muzzle towards his. Her lips planted on his as she kissed him. He could tell that it took all her strength that she had. Zack reciprocated the kiss, letting his love for her flow between them. He embraced her tightly as they continued.

Their lips stayed locked for quite a while, their love and passion for each other flowing with no bounds, completely entranced by each other's presence. Slowly, they parted from each other. Zack looked down at her, beaming with happiness. She looked back at him with the exact same stare as his. Suddenly, Zack moved, shoving his neck underneath her torso, burying his body under her. Confused, Kara rolled over to look at her lover. Suddenly, he stood up. Her body was lifted off the ground completely. Zack started to walk back towards the cave. Kara tried to get off but Zack was not having any of it. He would counter every attempt she made to walk by herself. She ended up giving up and let Zack carry her home. She smiled as she curled up around her mate as he carried her. She could feel his strides, slow and careful as he walked her back to her cave.

As they reached the cliff that her cave sat on, he told her to grab onto him. Kara complied, grateful that she didn't have to climb the cliff in her state.

Zack certainly struggled getting up the cliff but his determination pushed him through the pain. He finally saw the top edge of the plateau and breathed a sigh of relief. His claws grabbed the edge, pulling and scraping on the rock to hoist him and his mate up onto the plateau. After making it to the top, he padded into the cave with Kara still on top. He brought her to where she usually sleeps and laid down. Kara moved slightly as Zack settled in. She released her grip on him only to slide down beside him, hugging him closely. Her legs immediately wrapped around his.

Zack smiled at her as she closed the gap between their bodies. He looked down at her wounded body and a rush of guilt about what had happened only moments before returned. "I'm so sorry that I put you in danger by not fighting Agnidev the first time."

"I know you hate fighting, Zack. I know that it is just in your nature to try to reason with people. I think that's why I like you so much, you always see the good in people and give them a chance." She said, licking his wounds to help them heal. He licked at her wounds as well, wanting to sooth the pain as much as possible.

Zack licked all the wounds that he could reach. He stopped soon after, just laying in the company of his mate. He realized that she was still licking his wounds. Zack looked down at her, confused at her diligent work of a spot that didn't have any gash.

"Hey Kara, wh-" Zack was cut off as Kara ran her long tongue up along his chest and up his long neck. Her tongue danced under his chin, tickling Zack. He let out an involuntary squirm and laugh.

"I'm sorry Zack, does that bother you?" Kara asked playfully.

Zack looked down at her, returning the same playful smile. "I think that, by now, I should be used to you tasting me."

"Well, are you?"

"Nope, not at all," Zack said jokingly.

"Good, because I like that spark of fear you still have for me, it just adds an extra bit of flavor, I think."

Zack bent down and licked along her neck, his long tongue dragging across her scales, leaving them shimmering with his saliva. His tongue snaked back into his mouth. Zack visibly sucked on his tongue, tasting Kara. "I would say that you are quite delicious too, it seems. I would look out next time you change into your human form." Zack said mischievously.

"Is that right?" Kara asked. "Well, I promise that if I so foolishly turn human before you, you can capitalize on my mistake with a snack... But, you must let me do the same."

"Deal." Zack stated.

Kara snuggled in closer to Zack, wanting to feel his heartbeat against her own. Zack's heartbeat was quite a bit faster than hers. She looked up at him with an expression of pure contentment. "Zack, I'm so glad that I bumped in to you that day. I don't think I could have ever dreamed of as good of a life as this one."

"I completely agree, Kara. You're the most amazing dragon I've ever met."

"Hey, wait a minute," Kara interrupted. "There isn't much competition for best dragon with only me and Agnidev."

Zack laughed, "Well, you still won by a lot compared to Agnidev if that makes you feel better."

"I guess it does." Kara said, in a half joking, half disappointed voice."

A short silence fell between the two of them. Zack brought his muzzle close to her ear and spoke again, this time in a quieter voice, as though he were telling a secret. "I also didn't fall in love with Agnidev."

Kara looked up at Zack, her eyes becoming wet with tears. "You love me?" Kara asked, astonished at the sudden change in the conversation.

Zack looked down at her. He rolled onto his back, bringing her with him and pulled her body up along his so that her face was almost touching his. "Absolutely." He kissed her nose, smiling at her.

She smiled right back at Zack. "I love you too." She said without hesitation. They both held each other close, feeling each other's hearts beat. Kara silently continued crying for she had never thought she would find such happiness.

Never had her cave felt this much like home.
