Revelations
#3 of Champion of the Universe
Hey guys. Sorry that it's been awhile since I have uploaded anything but I want my chapters to progress the plot the story and I also want them to not be short. Anyways, enjoy reading. And please review guys! It will help me make the story better for you all to read! And sorry if the story structure is weird. I publish it and once it gets published, it shifts some of the paragraphs. I tried fixing it but whenever I try to edit it, it goes back to normal, only for me to publish it again and it screws up somewhere. And thank you Celeblu for being such an inspiring author!
Emily and Chris were trembling as they looked at the other aliens. As they took a closer look at their surroundings, they noticed that these aliens were also trembling. At least, it looked that way. Chris then noticed that those weird box things were also behind each of the aliens, baring their weapons.
Chris widened his eyes after realizing something. There were 18 other aliens besides them, and they appeared to be in pairs. Well to him, some of the aliens looked similar to each other, so if he had to guess, 2 of the aliens came from the same place, well, planet. Therefore, there were 9 other planets with their own distinguishable lifeform.
"Other life...on other planets", Chris whispered to himself. That statement shocked him to his very core.
Before any other thought could form in his mind, the circular disk in the middle of them pulsed a warm green. Appearing before him was another alien. It looked anthropomorphic. It wore a simple green robe that was ornately decorated with patterns of gold and silver. It looked like a type of uniform. The alien had a built frame with human like limbs except there were this sharp protrusions at the ends of his body, like at the elbows and shoulders. He had no hair anywhere on his body, at least where Chris could see. He had a chiseled jaw and sharp eyes with smooth skin. He had a frill running vertically along his head. If Chris could guess, the alien looked like a combination between a fish, a rock, and a drawer of sharp utensils. If Chris didn't know any better, he would say this one was male. He didn't exactly know why, but he had a feeling.
The alien smirked. "Welcome beings of the known universe. My name is sor-dnaal".
Now Chris knew something was definitely wrong. After looking at all the other aliens, he confirmed his suspicions; they were all scared at the mentioning of his name. It's as if they knew him already.
"Now, since a handful of you come from underdeveloped planets, you must be highly frightened with your current surroundings and situation. Allow me to better explain to you all who I am, what I've done, and why you are all here", Sor-dnaal asserted.
The rest of the crowd listened apprehensively. They looked scared out of their minds.
'What the hell is going on here?', Chris thought to himself.
"I come from a race of highly intellectual beings known as the L'boviat. We were one of the first beings to develop interstellar travel and were one of the few to explore the now-known universe. My race soon discovered other alien life forms; Some were barely starting civilization while others were advanced enough to establish interstellar travel as well. Together with those other highly advanced races, we established the first intercosmic organization of intelligent lifeforms known as the Intergalactic Confederation of Intellectual Planets, better known as I.C.I.P. or ICIP."
Chris noted that the aliens remained wary of Sor-dnaal. Then again he couldn't blame them. They were all in the same situation; they were all abducted, it seemed.
"ICIP helped developing lifeforms in all facets of their lives from expanding their scope of knowledge, to synthesizing new resources, to improving quality of life. Once those planets were advanced enough to our standards, they too joined ICIP and soon they helped us with other developing worlds. Our goal was to help the lives of all lifeforms in the universe."
Then the nostalgic expression etched across Sor-dnaal's features turned dark as he continued his monologue.
"However, my race was eager to go beyond the goal of ICIP. We wanted to not just improve the lives of lifeforms as a planet, we wanted to improve their lives individually. My race talked about developing a drug that not only improved one's physical senses, but also provided a regenerative healing factor so great, the afflicted body would overcome any injury regardless of how serious it was; you would become immortal."
"The other races felt that what we were trying to accomplish shouldn't be attempted. They said we were controlling nature. They said that creating such a drug would only yield negative effects when introduced to the universe. They said that civilizations should only achieve biological improvements and not biological perfection, claiming the L'boviat to trying to control the uncontrollable."
Chris was stunned to hear this information. The whole 'being abducted and experimented upon' was still processing through his mind.
"But those fools did not know the potential this drug would have. They misjudged its value and forbid my race from creating such a thing, but my race did not back down. We were determined to show them, to show the universe the benefits of creating such a drug, so we conducted research and run test in secret."
"Part of the reason the banned us from creating the drug because they thought at one point we would screw up and the drug would mutate and cause horrible malformations on a cellular level. They were foolish to think that. The L'boviat is one of the-no...IS the smartest species in the cosmos and are chances of failure were non-existent."
"Finally, after years of testing and data and hard work, we synthesized the drug; we created perfection. It was by far the pinnacle of all the L'boviat achievements", Sor-dnaal said with pride and glee.
"We dubbed the drug Gnaxsus after the God of the sky in archaic L'boviat culture, back when we used to believe in gods, way before we became an advanced civilization. Then, to show the ICIP how beneficial Gnaxsus was, they injected the finalized drug into me because I was dying of a then incurable disease. The drug worked and I made a speedy recovery. I grew to become impossibly strong, fast, and agile. Whatever injury I had healed instantly. I was unstoppable, physiologically speaking. However, ICIP was furious at my race's defiance. The planets conceded that the L'boviat had to be stopped...permanently."
Most of the aliens had cold glares on their faces, listening to Sor-dnaal's story. Then again, they didn't have anything else to do at this point.
"So ICIP decided to destroy my planet by dropping a Hydropulse bomb into the center of my planet where countless of innocent lives perished as the L'boviat homeworld was ripped apart", Sor-dnaal seethed.
The room was silent as everybody processed his story. Chris and Emily were appalled to say the least. Still adjusting to the fact that they were not the only sentient life forms out there in the universe, they now had deal with the fact that a species was so advanced that they succeed at playing God.
"Any surviving L'boviat was captured and immediately executed. But, after all the mayhem, I survived. ICIP tried desperately to kill me, but Gnaxsus proved to live up to its potential. I survived each and every death. I tried fighting back, but the sheer number of planets opposing me was too much and I was launched into deep space, in hopes that would rid the cosmos of Gnaxsus and the L'boviat forever. It worked for a few megaannums and ICIP and the rest of the universe soon forgot about them."
"They should've dropped me into the volcanic shores of Ethrex-44. For you see, I survived. I swore that I would get revenge on ICIP for causing the annihilation of my species. I was eventually rescued by a wandering cargo ship and with the help of Gnaxsus, I easily commandeered it. I then landed on an underdeveloped planet where being a L'boviat and wielding the power of Gnaxsus, I became a god to the beings inhabiting that planet. As time passed and the beings on that planet matured, I was able to create the means to allow myself to map my entire genome where I was then able to replicate the Gnaxsus in my body. I created a different strain of the drug which did not have the regenerative healing factor in it. I also added a virus into it which altered the brain to become apart of a unified consciousness and allowed me to control the hive mind. I gave it to the inhabitants of the planet I landed on, known as Nyvera. This in turn earned me the complete control of the Nyerans I sought out in the beginning. Equipped with advanced technology and a loyal army, I finally enacted my revenge."
Sor-dnaal looked down at all the horrified, and disgusted faces of the crowd. "I know this is a lot to take in and to some of you, you don't even know what half of the things I just pronounced are. Don't worry, this where you all come to play", Sor-dnaal chuckled with a smirk. His audience reeled back in fear.
"Wiping ICIP out in a clean, decisive siege would've been too easy. I wanted them to suffer the way I did, so I devised the perfect solution. To those who have heard of me, let me tell you know that there is no escape to the events that awaits you. To those of you that are still trying to grasp the fact that you are surrounded by other sentient lifeforms besides yours, let me explain why you are all here. You have been randomly chosen to participate in the Battle of the Universe."
After Sor-dnaal's declaration, some of the aliens gasped in fear. Others started to cry. The other half was perplexed by what the event was and why they were standing in room filled with alien strangers.
"The Battle of the Universe is an intergalactic competition where one male and one female from the dominating species of a planet must represent their race and ultimately their planet as they battle other races in deadly games, spanning the known universe. Out out of the 20 individuals in this room, only one will be named Champion of the Universe and will have the pleasure of being injected with Gnaxsus."
"Umm....what will....what will happen to the losers?", one of the aliens asked. The alien was wearing a fancy gown of sorts. It had small appendages protruding from its face had blue and green skin. At least Chris though it was skin. In short, the alien looked like a blue and green hairless cat with similar features of a bull.
The rest of the beings looked at the creature as he made himself appear small because of all the attention he was getting.
Sor-dnaal grinned in an almost sincere manner. "I was waiting for somebody to ask that. The way you lose is only by death. Once the competition is over, I will have the luxury of destroying your planet from its core. The winner will have the satisfaction of not watching his planet die."
At the mention of this, everybody started to panic. Shouts and pleas filled the room as everybody began to understand what was going to happen to them.
"SILENCE!", Sor-dnaal shouted. The metallic boxes emitted angry-sounding drones as the red lights emitting from their weapons glowed fiercer. A dreadful silence ensued.
Sor-dnaal gazed upon the contestants indignantly before continuing. "Now that you all know why you are here, let me explain what will happen over the next couple of days. You all will compete in rounds that not only will test you physically, but mentality as well. Each round will get progressively difficult as it narrows down the competition until one of you is left standing. To better prepare you all for the upcoming challenges, my staff has inserted a U.M.T, otherwise known as a Universal Microscopic Translator into the Visual Association Cortex, Auditory Association Cortex, and Wernicke's Area of your brain, allowing each and every one of you to understand each other's oral and written languages. They also injected you with a drug that increases your natural levels of adrenaline and stamina to its maximum capacity, as well as your neural levels. If you are going to compete, I want you to do so at your utmost ability."
The aliens looked at each other, knowing soon they would battle each other for their lives and their planets.
"Now, let me introduce you all to each other. It would be rude to not know who you are competing against", Sor-dnaal declared. He looked down upon the alien that asked the question.
"The first species you will compete against is known as the Cleatun. Their species evolved from a primitive species that first settled in the tall trees densely populating the planet. They are average when it comes to technology are barely developing a means to fly. The male's name is Vashtuu while the female from his planet is named Sveera".
Everybody regarded the Cleatun with prodding eyes, sizing up their opponents. Sor-dnaal moved to the next species, adjacent to the Cleatun.
"The next species is an advanced race known as the Qezznar located on the desert planet of Raddyn. They have developed useful technologies that has benefitted their race and are currently developing a device that will allow them to control the weather."
The Qezznar looked like overgrown centipedes with tough, brownish skin. They looked hideous to Emily, as evident to her disgusted face.
As Sor-dnaal introduced each of the species, Chris' eyes wandered the room; He was nervous and scared, and had every right to be. His anxiety lowered as his eyes halted upon an interesting-looking creature he had not notice before.
The creature was awe-striking to Chris. The creature stood a little taller than an average man, and it walked on two legs. It bore 2 arms and 2 legs, but also wings from its back. It was dark- grayish in color, with what appeared to be a black, ridged underbelly. His face was full of contrast: stunning kelly green eyes that faded to orange once it was near the pupil of each eye, making them look like the coronas of suns; a pair of silver horns which appeared to be made from an unearthly metal; a set of two vertical lines ran parallel to the edges of its underbelly and stopped short of where it's pectoral muscles would be. The outmost lines were yellow while the lines closest to the edge of his underbelly where blue. Chris could not tell where the lines originated from because the creature's clothing blocked the view below.
It had a long, thick tail resting on the ground behind him. He had a skinny, but built frame. He could only describe it as such. It also had point ears resting below its horns that curved outward behind its head, with a muzzled face. Chris could best describe his appearance as an anthropomorphic dragon. The one beside him was a little bit taller but was thinner than the one he set his sights upon. The only thing different with this dragon was that it was primary red with dark colors complimenting its body in the same way the lighter shades of yellow and blue did to the first dragon.
Apparently Chris forgot he was staring and soon the first dragon locked eyes with him. Once those exotic orbs gazed into his own, Chris was paralyzed with embarrassment. He wanted to gaze away but couldn't force himself to. He didn't know why but he just couldn't stop staring. What puzzled him the most was that the creature didn't turn away, in fact it gazed at Chris with an almost curious nature.
"The next species you will be competing against is also an advanced race regarded as the Valrax. They originated as quadrupedal nomads who wandered the universe in search of a suitable home. Coincidentally, they arrived at a planet called Earth millennia ago and thrived their temporarily before evolved primates from Earth hunted them down, forcing the remaining Valrax to relocate to another planet. They eventually settled on a mountain-filled planet they named Val-raane.
At the mentioning of their planet, the dragons focused on Sor-dnaal as he introduced them. For some weird reason, Chris was a little dismayed as his and the creature's eyes brisk contact.
"...even though there is no prevailing heteronormativity, a majority of their world leaders are female. Speaking of which, the red-colored female is known as Solara and the grey-colored male is known as Eone."
The Valrax gazed upon each and everyone of the aliens as Sor-Dnaal concluded his introduction. When Eone locked eyes with Chris, he did so for a brief moment before hardening his gaze and sending the human a small growl. Chris was baffled. He certainly did not expect that.
Sor-Dnaal chuckled a bit before he moved on to the next species. Chris on the other hand was trying to process something. Chris always had a liking to the world of fantasy and folk stories. It provided him a means of escaping reality. He always loved stories of mythical creatures, especially dragons. Now he was trying to process that those mythological creatures actually existed. That led his mind to wonder what other mythical creatures existed before his time.
His state of wonder turned into dread as he came to a conclusion: dragons are deadly. And if he was going to face one in a battle to the death, he would most likely, if not indefinitely die at their hands.
"...And the last species you will face today is a very odd race of beings known as the Humans".
The mentioning of his race broke Chris out of his stupor. He looked and Emily and they both looked up at Sor-dnaal who was gazing down upon them with a demented grin.
"The male representing this race is Chris. The female representing this race is Emily. They evolved from primitive primates that once inhabited their planet known as Earth. They are evolved to many different forms to suit the many environments on Earth. They developed quite slowly and because of their environmental isolation, each mini-civilization on Earth grew to fear one another. Their primitive minds led them to develop religious systems that contributed to the heavy bloodshed of wars that constantly led to rise and fall of many of their empires."
"They established themselves as the apex predator on their planet and somehow with their primitive technology drove out the strong Valrax", Sor-dnaal said smugly, casting a glance to the dragons.
"Authority worship--and later free will--caused a majority of them to suffer ignorance, which led many disputes between the Humans. Their technological limitations prevent them from expanding their scope of truth which constantly lead numerous disputes over what the next step as a species should be. They don't realized that they are one and the same, despite their physical differences."
As Sor-dnaal concluded, the Humans looked at all the other aliens. Their faces were a mix of disgust, and confusion. Chris and Emily couldn't blame them. After hearing Sor-dnaal's explanation of their race, they were suddenly humiliated.
"Now that you all know your competition, it is time to rest. In 11 hours, the first round begins for the Battle of the Universe. The F-57 drones will show you to your living quarters. Good luck to you all." With that said and done, the hologram disintegrated from existence and the aliens were left staring at each other.
The metallic boxes, now known as F-57 drones emitted their nasty sounds and positioned themselves in front of their respective aliens, forcing them to turn away from each other. Not wanting to find out what their weapons did, they were led off to living quarters, dreading what tomorrow was in store for them.
