Chapter 3: Training Rituals And Results

"Okay", Arceus said, "While the prospect and the roles are good, you'll need training." The Guardians stood up.

"Who shall be our senpais, Arcy~?" Kora said.

"That's a good question, Koraru. You're to train with Celebi and Shaymin. They're the best healers in the business. When you're done training in healing, you'll start in Apathy with Mesprit." Arceus finalized, said Council members coming up to Kora who squealed at their size.

"THEY ARE SO CUTE! THANK YOU ARCEUS!{Clears throat} You won't regret it!" she said excitedly.

"Chris", Arceus started, catching Chris' attention," You'll train with the Regi trio. You'll increase your defensive capabilities with them. When you're done there, you'll train with Regigigas as a final exam."

"Fair enough. As long as the results will help me protect my mate, I'll be alright. I won't fail you." Chris said, making Koraru turn away, blushing.

"Just what I like to hear. Now Sin", she said, catching Sin's attention," Since your role is very rare and unexpected, you are to train under the shadows with Darkrai. His abilities will make for excellent practice in dealing with things before they start. When training is done in that area, you'll train with Deoxys for Mental Processing Manipulation."

"Sweet." Sin said, and left it at that. Some of the female Council members were hero-worshipping him already...

"Seje", Arceus started," You're the leader, and all leaders need guidance in that field. A bad leader will make a team fall. You're to train with the Swords Of Justice for leadership training and battle tactics. When you feel that you are ready, you're to report to Mewtwo for mental conditioning. Your power, while creative, has a delay as you need to concentrate for periods of time. When time is short, these periods would be you and your teams' downfall." she said gravely.

"Don't worry, Arcy, I won't let you or my partners down!" he said. Electivire cheered in his own language.

"Oh sorry! I almost forgot!" she said dismissively. Then, Arceus glowed a pink color which had spread into a blade. Said blade dispersed, making its way towards the Guardians. Seje flinched, Kora shrieked, Chris put his arms up in defense, and Sin stood there, knowing what was gonna happen. The blade of pink energy passed through them harmlessly, in fact tickling them, and promptly disappeared upon contact.

"Whoa, what happened?" Seje said to his Electivire.

"I dunno, Seje." he said in perfect English.

"[Gasp] I understand you... I UNDERSTAND YOU! Is that what that energy was?!" Seje asked excitedly, looking at Arceus.

"Yes, if you're to be able to understand Pokemon truly during your time as Guardians, you'll need to be able to understand what they're saying." she said smiling.

"AWESOMESAUCE! Electivire, would you like a name? Since I can hear what you have to say in the matter, I feel a name is proper for you." Seje said.

"Yay! How about 'Luke'?" Electivire said thinkingly.

"It sounds perfect! It rolls off the tongue in a good way!" Seje said in reply.

"For now on, I am Luke the Electivire!" he said happily.

"Hooray!" Koraru said, supporting the enthusiasm shown. Chris and Sin smiled at the exchange between Trainer and Pokemon.

"Here", said a Porygon-Z near them, surprising Kora and making Seje look in interest." These are communicators for your roles. Each one is able to be spoken through via telepathy as some of the places in the world don't allow Psychic abilities to be used."

"Okay." Seje said, passing the communicators, which looked like Bluetooth headset, to their respective owners; Seje's was yellow, Chris' was blue, Kora's was Green, and Sin's was black and purple to match his new attire of the artificial persuasion.

"Now, I need you to report to your training areas with your teachers." she said in a business-is-now tone. The Guardians nodded the affirmative for days.

"Alrighty. Come on, Kora. We're going to the Infirmary for your training!" Shaymin said, pulling on her.

"Okay! See you guys later!" Kora said, waving goodbye to the boys as she walked off to said area, Chris looking at her longer than the others.

"Seje, your training on Earth in the Swords Of Justice's domains separately. I hope you're up for grueling training." Arceus said to the Leader.

"Don't worry; the training will be as easy as a Pokemon battle!" he said, confusing some but not all. Then, he was teleported away, along with the Swords Of Justice.

"Okay, Chris. Your training area is in the Arena here in the Hall. Your teachers were informed of your inevitable arrival and are already there, preparing it for you." Arceus informed.

"I'll do my best", he said, walking to the Arena once given directions.

"Lastly Sin, your tutor is Darkrai so you'll train on his island, New Moon Island. Got it?" she said.

"Got it and then some", Sin replied coolly, making the hero-worshipping Council members swoon at him. Darkrai came to Sin.

"Don't think training will be easy, human." Darkrai said sneeringly.

"I bet it won't", was Sin's rebuttal. Darkrai pulled a Snape and teleported them both to his homeland in the Sinnoh region.

When the Guardians were all gone, Mew came up to Arceus.

"Arcy, do you have faith in them?" she asked in a feminine tone.

"I have complete faith in them..." Arceus trailed off, thinking about her Chosen One before he was killed in a Team Neo attack...

Koraru-Healing The Needy And Sick!

Koraru, Celebi, and Shaymin had just arrived at the Infirmary. The room, or chamber as it was as big as one, was a white color. The walls, ceiling, beds, and pillars were a pure white. Most of the beds were filled with Pokemon of all shapes and sizes, each having a different problem based on what Koraru could read from the clipboards from their bedposts. From illness to dismemberment, all kinds of ailments were upon these Pokemon as they moaned in pain and discomfort.

"Today Koraru", Shaymin said, turning into Sky Forme to reach her face." You'll practice activating your Healing abilities by accessing the pocket of energy within your staff."

"Yes", Celebi added, " You'll be, once activated, able to take away the pain from these innocent Pokemon. Most, however, cannot simply be healed. Some of them need something extra to heal what ails them." she said, depressingly.

"I'll try my best, gals. No need to worry!" Koraru said, unintentionally bringing up a bad memory in Shaymin, who starts to cry.

"Oh... Was it something i did? If so, I'm sorry!" Kora said, trying to apologize for her actions.

"It's... Ok... I was remembering an old friend of mine... She used to say that... before she was deemed insane and put down..." Shaymin said shakily.

"What happened to her?" Kora asked all innocent.

"When Team Neo attacked the Chosen One while he rested, she was there as well. She wasn't killed, but the torture they put her through before releasing her made her mental stability break. It was horrible, the news was. Mesprit, especially, was heartbroken when she passed." she finished.

"Well...", Kora started, rubbing Shaymin's back," No need to worry; I'll make sure your friend's demise wasn't in vain! And I'll make Team Neo pay double! Plus TAX!" she finished, making Shaymin feel better.

"You are gonna be a great healer in time, Kora", Celebi said," Now let's get to work!"

"Right!" Kora said, dropping her earlier serious tone for a playful one.

"First, you need to be able to access the energy pocket in your Staff Of Life. When you access it, how long for the effects to last will depend on your will. Can you try?" Celebi explained.

"Yes, I can, Celebi-sama." said Kora as she closed her eyes.

"Now picture your life force connecting with the Staff Of Life, making contact with the Energy Pocket..." Shaymin trailed off, seeing Koraru concentrating on her task. After a few moments, a light of white began to surround Kora's hands. But, as she opened her eyes to check, the light dimmed.

"Good, good. You need to make the connection firmer and your will more resolved. Can you do this, child?" Shaymin said.

"I'll try, Shaymin-sama." Kora said, confident in herself. She closed her eyes tightly. After a little bit of time, the light came back, a lot stronger than last time. Kora opened her eyes slowly.

"Excellent, now let's see how your Healing Hands are on a patient", Celebi said, pointing at a male Nidoran, who was sporting bloody scratches. Kora inwardly cringed at the sight but kept a straight face. She walked to the little Nidoran, who weakly said "He-l-lo" and slumped in from the pain. Kora steeled herself and put her hands above the Nidoran's wounds. What happened next surprised Celebi and Shaymin as the wounds began to heal at a fast rate, if not faster than they could.

"Impressive." Shaymin said, impressed.

"Indeed. Kora, this is excellent! You'll be a Master Medic in no time!" Celebi said, happily.

"Thanks, Celebi-sama and Shaymin-sama." Kora said, slightly panting.

A Few Hours Later...

"Well done, Kora. You managed to heal 20 patients today. For tomorrow's training, we'll try to increase that number by five and keep that pattern going until the Infirmary is next to empty." Celebi explained to a nearly unconscious Koraru.

"So-ou-unds g-go-oo-od, Celebi-sama..." Kora said, barely standing.

"Go, rest child. You'll need it for tomorrow." Shaymin said.

"Okay. See ya later." she said tiredly. Yep, training went welly-well-well.


The Arena...

Chris-Defense Endeavors!

Chris was trying his hardest not to be felled by another direct hit from Registeel as said Golem was sending a barrage of punches his way at a speed unimaginable. He had, so far, managed to take down Regirock in a one-on-one fist fight, and Regice was busy getting his arm healed from Chris earlier breaking it.

"YOU'RE DOING GOOD, CHRIS! KEEP IT UP!" yelled Registeel as he sent an uppercut to Chris, who blocked it with his right-arm gauntlet.

Chris didn't answer verbally, but he smiled from the compliment. He continued to dodge and block Registeel's Close Combat, getting fatigued from taking the blows on his armor. Finally, Registeel went for a right hook feint and Chris was too slow to dodge or block and was sent flying to the wall.

"YOU'LL HAVE TO TRY HARDER TOMORROW! YOU'LL START THE SET OVER UNTIL YOU CAN BEAT ME IN ONE TRY! DISMISSED!" Registeel said, waving his arm to dismiss Chris. Chris waved back with a tired arm and left the Arena. When he was making his way to his room, he saw Koraru on her way to her room, tired but not beaten up like he was.

"Hey Kora." Chris called, getting her attention.

"Oh, hey Chris." she said blushing. Chris didn't notice it.

"So, how was training for you?" Chris asked, walking side-by-side with her.

"It was tiring; one of the patients had a nasty cut on his arm and wouldn't let me near him to heal it. It took a Gracidea Flower Aromatherapy from Shaymin-sama to calm him down. The cut was disgusting, too. You could see the bone when you look at it." she said mock-gagging.

"Sounds gruesome." he said in response to her training regime.

"So, what'd you do?" Kora asked, waving at Latias, who was floating by.

"I had sparring sessions with the Regi's in one-on-one's. I beat Regirock, got lucky with Regice, but got beat by Registeel, twice." he said, a little disappointed in himself. Kora rubs his shoulder, which was sore from one of Regirock's palm thrusts.

"Don't worry; you'll beat him next time!" she said, cheering Chris up.

"Thanks Kora. You're the best!" Chris said, hugging Kora, much to her embarrassment.

"Uh, you're welcome Chris-kun..." she said, hugging him awkwardly back. They walk on, eventually finding their rooms assigned by names, theirs being across from each other.

"Good night, Kora." Chris said, entering his room.

"You too, Chris-kun!" Koraru said in response, closing the door behind her. As they both got in their night clothes, they got in bed thinking one thing: 'I wonder if he'll/she'll like me back...' They drifted off to sleep on these thoughts. Meanwhile the other two were still training...


Earth-New Moon Island-Sinnoh Region; 00:24 AM...

Sin-Becoming One With The Shadows!

Sin was still training into the night with his teacher, Darkrai. They had gone over the basics of being an assassin and Sin was trying to perform a Shadow Sneak.

"Come on, child! It's not that complex!" Darkrai yelled as Sin came back up from a 3-second Shadow Sneak.

"..." Sin didn't reply back, knowing that Darkrai was using insults to get under his skin, the latter still cross from Seje's power demonstration on him. Sin began to focus on making his body a part of the shadows. His suit being the catalyst, he had tried accessing it, but Darkrai had put a block on it so Sin could do it naturally. The results are as such.

"You almost hit the goal..." Darkrai trailed off as Sin came back up from a 9-second Shadow Sneak.

"Try again." Darkrai said as Sin rose to the ground fully.

"..." Sin still said nothing, trying to keep his concentration as he realized why his Shadow Sneak wasn't lasting as long as the goal. He closed his eyes, adapting his body with the shadows, sinking into them...1...2...3...4...5...6...7...8...9...10 seconds.

"Well done, brat. You reached the goal without your special suit." the Pitch-Black Pokemon said as Sin rose to the surface, mask hiding his smile of victory.

"Now let's see with the damn thing un-Blocked." he said, removing the move off of Sin's suit, the suit glowing. Sin activated Shadow Sneak and instantly went into his shadow, lasting nearly triple the goal before Darkrai called him up.

"Wow. Did you do that right on accident?" Darkrai asked, making Sin snort in amusement.

"Maybe I'm just that good and you don't want to admit it." he said, smirking.

"Don't push your luck, kid. I can make you live your worst nightmare." Darkrai sent as rebuttal.

"I know, shadow-thingy." Sin said, reminding Darkrai of Seje's interrogation method. He shuddered in response.

"Don't mention that human in front of me, boy. He'll get his when I get the chance." he said with venom in his voice.

"Sure, you will..." Sin trailed off, wondering how Seje was handling his training...


Earth-Rumination Field-Unova Region; 01:20 AM...

Seje-Leadership Trials Of Grueling Practices!

Seje panted as he watched Virizion step away from him again in an attempt to make him react. In reality, he was making sure to come up with a tactic on the spot as Virizion's speed had been clipping his vitality.

Before, he had completed his training for today with the other Swords of Justice.

Cobalion in the Guidance Chamber of Mistralton Cave had told him about coming up with strategies that could possibly last throughout an encounter or battle. Seje was set up with various Pokemon to battle while only using one strategy for each. He defeated a Haxorus, Aggron, Nidoking, and a Tyranitar on the first try. A Nidoqueen had gotten a tie with him as her poison had clipped his speed down a notch, forcing him to be subject to her Mega Punches. His defeats were brought on by a Goodra, Hydreigon, Greninja that was a blur to Seje, and Cobalion himself. Cobalion was pleased with his win/loss ratio and sent Seje off to the Moor Of Icirrus for training with Keldeo.

Keldeo's task for Seje was to come up with a way to quell a forest fire using various supplies and few Water-Type Pokemon to help put it out. Needless to say, he made due with quite a few burns from the 3rd try. Keldeo instructed Seje to head to Victory Road for Terrakion's trial.

Terrakion was merciless. First, he had Seje dodge incoming boulders for evasive practice while thinking of a way to stop the rock slides Terrakion was causing. He tried his best, but he got off on a lucky gamble,, nearly losing his arm under a boulder while blasting a part of the mountain to create a crevice for the boulder to stop their assault. Next, Terrakion had him go to the nearby forest and had Seje come up with strategies while large trees were cut down to land on him and a patch of wild flowers. He had to stand and watch as the trees were dangerously close to falling on him and the flowers he needed to protected. In the end, he passed with flying colors, having switched to his 'R' form to cut the trees in logs to not only avoid crushing the flowers, but also building a shrine around them. Terrakion, happy with the success, sent Seje to Rumination Field, where he was to train with Virizion.

Which leads to now as Virizion came in quickly with a Sacred Sword at the ready, Seje had to wait as she came closer to attack as the rules for their trial stated. He had used his 'W' form for this next technique. When Virizion came in for a swipe of her Sacred Sword, Seje quickly activated the 'Deflector' mode on his sword of choice, the lance-like blade glowing red. Virizion struck downwards and Seje struck upwards, swords clashing. Although, the force behind Seje's 'Deflector' had dazed Virizion, if only for a couple of moments. Seje quickly took the initiative and ran forward, tripping Virizion off her hooves and placing a foot on her underbelly, sword at her neck. Training was finished.

"Very good, child. Tomorrow, we try to see if you can do that in less time." Virizion said, Seje helping her up.

"Alrighty, anything else I should know before I go, Mi' Lady?" he asked.

"No, all is fine at the moment." she replied standing up.

"Well, see ya tomorrow, Virizy~!" he said teleporting to the Hall Of Origins.

"[Sigh] That child will make a great leader. I hope the others think so as well; he has great potential..." she trailed off, going to her home inside Rumination Field...

4 Months Later...

The four Guardians had went through the extremes in training, but the results showed.

Koraru was able to hold her Healing Hands for as long as she wanted, advancing to the next stage of it actually: Healing Barrier-which put an injured target in a stasis field until their injuries were gone from their bodies. She isn't just aa healer, though as all healers need a defense of some sorts. Kora is able to conjure a magical shield, similar to the Pokemon move Protect, to keep her targets safe. But she can only hold it up for a few minutes. Although her status healing abilities needed some work, she was proud, nonetheless. Mesprit and her tutelage helped Kora hone her Apathy abilities, making her a walking Empathic, able to calm anyone with a simple touch. This became her proficiency.

Chris had the best defense a human can have, without his armor on. He is able to withstand most Pokemon attacks, with or without the armor on. His final exam was a full-on Battle Royale between himself, the Legendary Golems and Regigigas. The battle was devastating; the Arena had to be repaired from the damage for two weeks. Chris, during his one-on-one with Regigigas, had perfected Aura Shruiken, a move of devastating properties depending on the user. Chris' is more... explosive and loud than anything else.

Sin had perfected his shadow abilities to the point where he doesn't have to be in his suit to stay just as long as he would with it on. He not only surpassed Darkrai's own shadow abilities, he left the poor Pitch-Black Pokemon in the dust in reaction time. Darkrai's fastest Shadow Sneak was 1.4 seconds. Sin beat that record by .6 seconds. Darkrai was pissed. Up to the point where he started to refuse to train Sin anymore, but complaints from the latter to Arceus quickly got him back in training. He can no longer be heard walking, so his movements can only be tracked by wind direction. He had practiced using Silencers for his weaponry, making him a deadly marksman with a sniper rifle. His accuracy is near perfect at any range, and for close quarters he has a bowie knife as defense. Training in Mental Processing Manipulation was good, but Sin has to be completely still for it to work. He's been trying to find a way to use it while moving, but the closest he got was 2.5 meters.

Seje had completed his leadership training a few months back, allowing him to go straight into mental conditioning. He is now able to utilize his 'A', 'B', 'C', 'D', 'E', 'J', 'L', 'N', 'R', 'X', 'Y', and 'Z' forms without hesitation. The only ones that need work are 'F'-'I','M', 'O'-'Q', and 'S'-'W'.

The quartet had arrived at the Meeting Room, spirits high in Heaven as they await...

This has been mercenary man guy.

So, I'm tired now. Writing this took all damn day. I wish I didn't have so much to do at school... Oh! And my school doesn't end 'til 3:00. It sucks that bad...

Seje: Eh, you'll live.
