Ch.2 First Day Findings

The blankets rustled as the panda turned over to hit his alarm clock. The clock beeped for a split second before getting shut off by the large paw. Slowly the paw retracted back into the pile of thick cloth, leaving a hole for the eye to look out of. Slowly the panda sat up letting the blankets fall down, instead of to his lap, they got caught on something.

The car revs up an the panda drops it into drive, pulling away quickly. Speeding through the streets the blur pulls into a parking spot. He steps out of the car and looks at the large school behind him. "And this is were they want me to work." He gives out a sigh and listens to the bell ring.

He watches the hordes of cubs run into the building. Each one looked to be happy, talking between themselves and laughing. The panda walked slowly up to the door, not to interrupt any of them. He walks through the first large set of doors and looks side to side.

To his left is a student services office and the nurses office. To his right was the principles office, which is where he headed. He walked through the mass slowly trying not to bump into the cubs running around and yelling to each other.

The panda looked around and slipped into the office, closing the door tightly behind him. Sighing deep Roxas runs his paw over his face holding his eyes closed. "What did I get myself into." Rubbing his eyes he could hear something from beside him.

His paw slips away looking down at the chair next to him. Sitting, looking down, with ruffled fur was a small black cat. The tips of his eyes where white and point away from each other. He pushed his thin glasses up and looked at the panda staring at him. "C-can I help y-you?"

Roxas shook his head a little. "What-a, What are you in here for?"

The kitten's lip worded something off but what came out was something different. "I beat up a dog. A-a big one." His chest pushing out a little as he tried to cover up the lie.

Laughing a little Roxas played along. "Right, and was he muzzled?"

The kitten looked down. "Your not nice."

"Hey, I didn't mean it that way. It was just a little sarcasm." The panda tried to cover up his little remark.

"Nice to see you again." A loud voice came from the small hall. "Kattunge, go into my office I'll talk to you there."

The kitten hopped up and ran down the hall. Not saying a word, but being followed by Roxas's eyes.

"So I trust you've already looked around the facility?" The rabbit slowly walked to the door, grabbing the handle just as the bell rings. Opening the door and taking a step out the tall male clears his throat. "That was the bell. That means head to class."

Roxas looks over his shoulder at the mob of cubs disappear into the classes. He walked out behind the rabbit and scratched the back of his neck. "Well that worked." He turned to the principle. "And no I haven't really walked around."

"Good, good I get to show the place. Its larger then most schools so you do know there is a second janitor." He began to walk down the hall. "She wont be here as late as you, but at least you will have help in the mornings." Pointing to the hall. "This is the science hall. If you go to the end and turn left , the first hall is the math hall and then you'll go downstairs into the cafeteria."

They walked the other way walking up the small set of stairs. "Down those stairs is the history hall and that leads to the cafeteria. Up those stairs are a pair of halls. That's the old side of the school, which is used for all the extra activities. Down the first hall and down a set of stairs are the gyms."

Quickly walking down the halls Roxas is counting how many bathrooms and closets there are, seeing how much he will have to do in a day. Each classroom seemed well kept by the teacher itself, so that was the least of his worries. The lockers seemed low to the ground and worn, but in good shape.

They walked to the front of the gyms, where they walked into the right one. "This is the old gym, it was fixed up and now used for indoor general education on physical education. Across this wall are the locker rooms." The tall male walked into the male locker room.

Roxas followed and almost fell over when he walked in. There were cubs still getting dressed inside. They were joking with each other, most of them wearing the gym uniform. The rest wearing the pants and talking without shirts on.

Roxas, still in awe shook his head. "Yea, that's great. I can just check everything out later during the day."

"Good, your list will be in the janitors room which is in the teachers lounge, which is by the cafeteria. I understand it's a large place, but you shouldn't have to deal with the upstairs to much. The biggest thing we needed was a male janitor for the heavy lifting and bathrooms. So are you up to the job?"

"Yes." The panda said almost to wanting. "I mean it's a great job for what its paying."

They both laughed before the principle left Roxas inside the locker room alone. He took a seat on the wooden bench in the middle of a bunch of lockers and took a deep breathe.

Thinking to himself. 'Should I really be doing this?' He stood up and chuckled a little. "Yea, I can do this, its only a job."

He walked to the Cafeteria which was empty since it was only first period. He walked into the teachers lounge where only a few sat drinking coffee talking about their education plan. He walked across the small room and into the closet opening it and checking what he had to work with.

"So I see we finally have a new janitor. Your gonna hate the job." A short fox talked to the panda through the book in front of him.

Roxas turned to look at him. "And why would you say that? Seems like a nice enough place."

"Yea until you see what your up against."

A cougar from across the table joined in. "Hundreds of little annoying paws messing everything up, your going to be lucky to get a break here."

"Well there is another janitor." Roxas said questionably.

"She deals with all the female students, you deal with all the male. The females are a lot nicer then the males around here. They at least clean up after their own mess." The fox chuckled off, marking his page and closing the book. "Well it seems I need to head to my first class and get ready for the little pests."

The cougar stood up to. "I might as well get going also. Its going to be a long day in science, for me and the janitor. Chemical reactions and the floor, great title."

Both of the teachers walked out leaving Roxas with one more. The panda turned and pulled out the cart. It was fully supplied with towels, mops, toilet paper, soap, anything that would possibly come up was on this cart.

Just as Roxas turned around he came face to face with the last teacher, who was grabbing a towel from the cart. He too was a panda, but only a black and white one. You've got the easier job here."

With that the black and white panda yawned and walked out into the hall. Roxas stood there just thinking. ‘That was odd.' He finally came to terms and went back to the cart arranging things. Finally he felt that everything was in place and he was ready to start the day.

Quickly he looked up and saw a small elephant looking at him. He jumped a little and gave out a squeak. "Oh, I'm sorry I didn't see you."

The woman spoke and walked into the closet. "Yea that's the best thing. No one knows I'm here." Giggling the elephant grabbed some toilet paper and walked back into the hall.

Again Roxas stopped to think. ‘What the hell is wrong with these animals. Do they not explain what they are talking about.' He pushed the cart off and out into the hall, beginning his first day as a janitor.

A couple hours past as the large panda cleaned every inch of the school. He kept no locker uncleaned, no floor unwashed, no toilet unscrubbed. He had this down to a T. He walked around the school looking for small tasks to keep himself busy, so it at least seemed like he cared.

Walking around the school during the second lunch period the panda searched slowly, yawning to himself. A third of the school was busy in lunch while another third were out in P. E. and finally the last third were scattered about inside classrooms.

Roxas twitched his ears a little and walked to the point in the wall, looking around the corner carefully. He could hear rummaging and the laughter of a few cubs. His head popped out and he could see the kitten before. He was standing in the middle of a pack of wolfs. They seemed to be teasing him.

They pushed him back and forth, mocking and calling out names. "Pussy" and "Stupid feline" seemed to be the leading names for the cub. They pushed him to the ground and stood over him. The cat standing up and pushing the large one of the group. Only to be pushed back.

Roxas looked around confused. "Remind me not to care next time." He moved down the hall and on with the day.

He worked normally cleaning everything and taking out the trash for the cafeteria. He looked toward the clock as the only sign he had of when he was getting off.

The day came to a close quickly. It seemed very short, but the panda didn't mind. He only wanted to get home so he could watch some cub and go to bed.

The cubs ran out of the school with the final bell and into the buses that were lined up out front. Each litter ran into them and filled each bus to the max before it pulled out. A line of yellow vehicles pulled away from the school.

Roxas walked back upstairs and did one last sweep thinking this was all he needed to do so he could go home. He walked down the hall with the random different kinds of rooms. He walked into each one, clearing off the benches and wiping down the boards.

He walked to the outside of the bathroom door, thinking to himself. ‘Should I go in here?' He heard something drop from inside. Placing his large ear to the door he could hear someone inside.

Roxas pushed the door open slowly and took a step in, slowly closing it behind him. He walked to the first stall and pressed the door open slowly. Nothing was in it. He went to the second one and placed his paw on the dorr, opening it slightly. He could see the paw of a black animal holding a black marker, writing something on the wall.

He pressed the door open wide to reveal the kitten standing on the toilet, writing ‘Victor Sucks' on the wall. "What are you doing?" Roxas yelled and looked at the wall. "I just cleaned this."

The kitten jumped far into the air and slipped his foot off the toilet, falling to the ground. "W-why a-are you h-here?" The kitten instantly broke into tears.

"Well I work here. You think I do this for fun? What's your name?" The panda talked quick and angrily.

Roxas picked the kitten from the ground and placed him on the toilet. "Of course I'm going to tell..." The panda's mind ran quick. He hatched an idea in that second. "How about this? I wont tell."

The kitten looked up at him through the tears. "R-really? W-why?"

The panda slipped out of the stall and walked to the door locking it. He walked back into the stall, leaving the door open. "Well, if you do what I say. No one will know about this but me and you."

The kitten nodded and looked at the panda. "W-what do you w-want me to do?"

The panda lifted the kitten up once again, leading him to the side of the stalls. There was a bench attached to the wall and about a foot above it was a window. Roxas dropped the kitten in front of the bench, sitting himself in it. He looked the kitten up and down, blushing slightly.

As the shirt slipped from the thin kittens body Roxas could see the midnight black fur that covered him. His fur was soft and lightly fell back into place after the shirt was removed. He watched the kitten turn around and blush deeply. "What's wrong?"
