The Elyasian Warrios: And The Hunt of the Dragon's Eye Chapter 1 Part 1
A wolf bat named Azurys must gather a group of Warriors to help him find three magical items that once belonged to the Gods of the World, once the items are forged they create the Staff of Eternal Life and Death, will Azurys be able to use this staff for good? Or would he perhaps use it for other purposes?
It was late in the evening by the time Azurys had managed to get himself up out of bed. Having been born part bat it was kind of terrible to sleep all day and stay up all night, but hell he didn't have much of a choice. He was in fact hitting puberty now and it was kind of in his nature to stay up all night.
It wasn't much of a disappointment, but more of a pet peeve for the young wolf bat. He loved the day time and loved to see things in its integrity. The night of course had its wonders too, trust me he should know. Being a night owl, well you know is also a cool thing. He had really good hearing, keen eyesight and great strength and charm and good looks if I might say so myself.
There are of course sometimes I wish I was actually in Azury's shoes, however there are pros and cons to being Azurys. For instance being in the realm that he's in. Elyasia has many fantastic creatures and magic. It also had its own set of rules as well for you see there are two tribes. The Bat tribe and the Wolf tribe. The tribe has been enemies since the dawn of time, for what reason only history can remember.
But a day came when history changed. A young female bat named Azure, and a young male wolf named Rysar had fallen in love and well erm, let me tell you this story and you will get to hear the rest of that story later....now achem where was I?
It was after dark by the time the young wolf bat woke. His eyes flickered open, revealing two bright emerald eyes. The wolf bat let out a loud YAWN and he stretched out his wings. He got himself up and then walked over toward a large looking glass that stood next to the window that looked out westward. He saw himself inside the mirror. He tried to give himself the best smile possible, but that smile soon faded.
The bat heard a loud BANG! Come from down stairs, which meant that his Grandmother was already up putting in wrong ingredients into the pot once again. The young male grabbed his green apprentice robes. He quickly pulled on his boots and grabbed his satchel and quickly ran down the stairs and opened the door and entered the Potions Room.
His Grandmother Madam Mythra was already muttering to herself. Her entire face was covered in soot expect for her pair of half moon glasses that perched at the brim of her nose. She had managed to clean them off so that she could see to clean the rest of herself off.
"Wrong ingredient again Nanna?" Inquired Azurys as he walked over toward the podium that obtained the current Book in which his Grandmother was reading from.
"Apparently, otherwise I'd not be in this predicament," Said the elderly bat as she muttered to herself. Unlike himself his Grandmother was all bat and she was quite old and blind might I add. She could not see an inch from her nose if she didn't have her glasses on which she had enchanted herself to keep her sight.
"I would ask if you were wearing your glasses before putting in the potion, but it appears you were," Said the young hybrid as he padded over toward the potions shield and scanned the shelf until he had at last found the vile he needed.
"Isn't this Miss Thua's arthritis potion?" Asked Azurys as he dropped in a few pinches of the vile he grabbed and waited for her response.
"Yes," Said Mythra as she walked back toward the book mouth agape. "That was the ingredient I put in I swear!" She said grunting and mumbling. "I've been a witch for a hundred years and my Grandson is showing off," She said.
A chuckle erupted from the young wolf bat's muzzle as he then found a few herbs that were also listed in the recipe and then put them into the pot. The young hybrid watched the pot boil and toil as the ingredients blended themselves in.
Despite the fact that the young wolf bat pretty much spent 90% of the time inside, he loved to help Nanna make potions for the ill and weak. It was something that made him feel good inside that he was helping others. His grandmother had told him numerous times that he would one day take upon this job himself one day.
Of course, there was the predicament that he was always in. For you see as I've mentioned earlier he is a hybrid, a wolf and bat combined and that is against the laws of the bat clan to ever mingle with wolves, so every day Azurys would have to drink a Glamour potion specially made to disguise his distinguishing wolf like qualities from the rest of the Clan.
Hours pass and the potion was finally was nestled inside a corked glass vile related. "Arthritis Potion' and it also had a tag tied to it that had a price on it as well. The young wolf bat was preparing himself to deliver the potion to the madam.
He hated going out into the Clan where he would be visible to others, but that is because he is going as someone he is not, a pure bred bat. It was a lie, a sham and he hated it so much! But if they knew that he was a hybrid, they would most definitely kick him out of the tribe to live as an outcast, and there was absolutely no way he would survive, at least no on his own anyway.
Ready to almost head out, the young bat switched robes. He removed the green laced robe and placed it on the coat rack and replaced it with a fine dark blue and gold trimmed robe and as he placed it upon him, spheres of shimmering golden light surrounded him, making his wolf like ears disappear and turn into fine bat ears, his wolf like tail shrunk and his wolf like body turned into all bat.
It was a cloak more or less than a potion really. A cloak in which his mother had woven for him. She had cast the glamour spell upon it to where whenever Azurys wore the robe it would make him this way. But of course Azurys had to be weary, he was forbidden never to take it off when he was in public or around other bats that visited the shop.
When the young bat grabbed a staff made of ash wood and crowned with a beautiful emerald. A staff in which his Grandmother had carved out for him for his sixteenth birthday when she accepted him as her apprentice. He looked back toward his Grandmother and gave her a batish grin. "Try to stay away from the pot while I'm gone, I don't want to come back home to see nothing more then a pile of ash," He said with a half amused chuckle.
"Of course dear, now hurry on home, be back before sunrise!!" She said.
The young bat sighed softly and grabbed hold of his staff, waving his paw in the air he had the large wooden door unlock itself and swing open. The door opening caused the cluster of small silver bells to jingle and when the bat walked out the night was alive. The air was brisk and cool for it was mid Autumn in Elyasia. The trees surrounding the territory were already stripped bar of their leaves and in the distance fires could be seen burning brightly. Warrior members of the tribe were painted up and shirtless dancing about the roaring flames whooping war cries as the Elders pounded on drums.
The young bat sighed softly and hurried himself over toward where the warriors were dancing, hoping of course to go unseen by any of the men that were dancing around the flame. He knew most of them, and they were all jerks. At least to him anyway. He had grown up with most of them when he was in school and they always had picked on him. He hated them, all of them, though it was against his belief to wish anyone ill will no matter how much he hated or loathed them. He slithered and slung his way past the cheering crowd of other bats of the Tribe, when suddenly the bulkiest and strongest male of the warriors finally called out.
"Brother's and sisters,' And soon the music stopped and the crowd hushed. "Soon my brothers and I shall go out at the crack of dawn and battle the Wolf Clan!" Cheers and whoops and hollers were heard throughout the Tribe. But of course Azurys shrugged it off and kept going through the crowd. He was praying that Madam Thua wasn't among them, but if she was Azurys would of course have to leave the potion somewhere where the old woman would manage to find it and then he would have to go back in the next night to collect the fee
"We have lost to many siblings this past month due to the wolves invasion," Spoke the strongest of the warriors. "But soon, our vengeance shall be satisfied when the river runs with wolf blood!" Shouted the male as then the crowd broke out into a series of cheers. There was a moment when the young bat would gaze upon the mighty warrior from time to time. He was handsome, so beautiful so physically built. He had the most beautiful azure eyes he ever saw. He could not help but blush from occasion. He of course shrugged off the distraction of the male warrior and slunk off into the shadow. He hurried off toward the tent in which Madam Thua resided in. Luckily there was a flame roaring inside which told Azurys that she was in fact home. He had slid inside and smiled when he saw Thua by the fire, chanting to herself as she gazed into the flames.
"Madam Thua, its me Azurys, I've come with your Arthritis Potion," He knelt down toward the old woman and smiled wide handing her the potion vile.
The woman took it and then looked up at him. "I know what you really are child," The old woman spoke callmly. "A disgrace to our tribe," She said.
It took Azurys a moment to realize what she was talking about. He had checked to make sure that his cloak was on nice and snug, and that the enchantment of it hadn't worn off.
"I'm unsure of what you mean, are you okay madam you are acting a bit odd this evening,'
"The warriors," She said. "Their going out in the morning, to kill the wolves that have defiled our people all so long ago," She said.
"I saw that," Said Azurys. "What does that have to do with me?"
"Your destiny, is the only thing that will stop this blood feud between us," She said. "You must not be afraid to show yourself and for who you truly are,'
It took the hybrid a moment to realize that she was talking about him being a hybrid, but how? How did she know what he was?
"I see you with your Grandmother," Said she. "You were the son of Azure, before the poor dear passed away so unexpectedly. "She was so healthy that one," She said.
"But do you want to know how she really died?" There was a dead silence between them.
"I don't know what you mean, your confusing me," Said Azurys.
"Your mother died right, after giving birth to you, but ever wonder why she had died?"
"She died giving birth to me," He said.
"That is what the old crone wanted you to believe," She said. "She in fact killed your mother, she had only seen her as a disgrace to her family, for having given birth to such a monster such as you," She said. "But don't worry child, if I took care of you I would have meant the love I would have given you," She cooed.softly. "Your mother was killed by your Grandmother by a poison she had slipped into the tea she had given to her just after you were born, making her slip into death,"
"There is time for change though my dear," She said. 'Don't seek out revenge against the poor lass, she has been through enough hell," She said. "Let us focus more on the future let alone the past," She said.
"Your mother and your father," She said. "They made you into this world, but you were of course illegal not allowed, not permitted to be born due to our Clan rules," She said. "Your mother Azure, and your father Rysa were lovers yes," She took a breath and continued. "A long time ago, your mother met your father in the woods one day when she was finding food for the winter. Your father was about to go to war, and when he had met her, he had fallen in love with her, and together they eloped. The young warrior wolf was afraid of course to leave your mother alone, but he knew that it was against Clan law for either of them to be together. So he had to leave her and go off to war. But what he didn't know was that during their night of eloping she bore a child, a child made off the sperm cells of the warrior wolf, your father,' She said
There was a moment of silence before the woman took the potion in which she had been given into the flames and BURST the flames rose up high into the air, smoke filling the tent. Many forms took shape into the smoke. The first form took the form of a young wolf bat hybrid, himself.
"One day my son, you shall rise to become the resistance a rebellion," She said. "And then you shall fall in love, and this love shall ignite the flames of a burning fire that shall burn through villages, tribes and destroy many families and lives during its burning, however the sacrifice will finally bring peace in the end," She said.
"But to bring peace, you'll need several magical objects,' She said. "The first," She waved her paw into the air and the smoke soon transformed into a large stone which glowed a bright red, at its center was a single black slit that stared right into Azurys's eye.
"The Eye of Elthyra," She said. "The Dragon God of Creation," She said. "This magical stone is believed to give its owner strength, courage and above all a voice," She said.
She then took another breath and swooshed her paw over the eye which then vanished and revealed a staff. "The next item you shall need to find, is the Fang of Eldortha, the Sea Serpent of old," She said. "This fang is more of a staff, you will be able to fuse the Eye of Elthryra to conceal its powers and to allow you to wield it," She said."The third object," She said the staff disappearing and forming a single flame dancing in the air.
"The Flame of Thyrantas," She said. "This is the flame of our creator," She said. "It was said that long ago the Dragon Dragon god Thyrantas had used this very flame in order to create our world, as the flames spread throughout the empty realm, thus Elyasia was born," She said.
"But don't flame usually destroy things?" Azurys finally managed to ask still lost in the woman's words.
"Yes, fire is meant to destroy, but its also meant to give birth as well," She said to him. "You must fine these items, and fuse them together, with it you shall gain the powers of of the Staff of Thyrantas," She said. "The three gods broke this staff a long time ago, realizing that its full power was to much for any King to wield and hid these items within their temples," She said. "Go find these items dear child, and bring them back here to me," She said.
There was a moment of silence between her and the wolf bat. "I ....I can't" Said Azurys finally. "I'm not going on some ridicules quest because you think I'm some sort of saint," He said.
"My dear child," She said calmly. "Do you realize what might happen, if the staff falls into the wrong hands?" She inquired. "It in the wrong hands will raise the God Thyeldrya, the God of Life and Death," She said. "The staff is meant to be in only good paws, and only good," She said. "If evil is to ensnare it, the Three Gods of Creation will once again conjoin with each other again, and destroy our world,"
"Who on earth would want to do that?" Asked Azyrus.
"That my child is for you to decide," And with a flick of her wrist, purple sparkles were shot forth into Azyrus's eyes and suddenly everything went dark.....
