A Tale of Transcendent Love: A Report of a Terrible Transformation
#38 of Writing Prompt Group Submissions
This is the product of hard work between myself and Jake James Darkos using one of his characters and my fursona.
This is also my submission for prompt 43 of the Writing Prompt Group. The goal was to write a story where a character had to go through a monstrous transformation.
Anthony's mate is stolen from him, and he goes on a search for the culprit. All the while, he must keep his emotions and mental state under control to prevent himself from giving into his insanity.
A Tale of Transcendent Love:
A Report of a Terrible Transformation
My name is Anthony Evans. I am a tiger and Assistant Supervisor of the Transcendence Research and Development Division. I am recording this report as part of my duties as Medical Aide for my mate, Alexander Xin, a case worker in the Investigations Division. These are the events that unfolded to the present moment that I am writing.
Before I continue, I want to acknowledge my own emotional involvement about Alexander's current status with the Transcendence. I will do my best to keep my objectivity at the forefront of my recording and my emotions at bay.
Our Apartment, South Sector, 19:18 p.m.
Broken glass was all around the room, and everything was in entropy from what I could see. My left paw twitched slightly as I looked around the part of the apartment I was in. Fear within my mind, I walked through the rather disturbing scene. My heart was slightly pounding, as I continued looking through the scene I had come home to. The opaque, holographic window was broken clean through, and I saw the cement wall that was on the other side of it. The sound of many electrical wires "frizzing" could be heard.
"What the hell happened?" I thought to myself, trying to piece together a simple thing to explain what had occurred while I was gone. A folded paper on the bed caught my attention. Hesitantly, I walked over to where the paper was. It was a very light grey color and neatly folded. I picked it up, unfolded it, and read it.
My dear Project,
If you wish to see your beloved, chubby mutt ever again, come to the slums of the Northwest sector. I'll be waiting...
-Peter
P.S.: Don't call for help. If you do, your mutt won't be alive for long.
"You've got to be fucking kidding me," I said to myself as I felt my anger begin to rise.
To help myself think and keep my rage under control, I tapped my paw on my leg a bit, trying to figure out what I'm going to do. After a short moment, a strange feeling came over me. It felt like something was watching me. I looked up, and noticed the security cameras "Oh, It's just them." I said to myself, before noticing something unusual about the cameras...They're zooming in and out a bit too much. I decide to go up to one of them, and still it continued to focus and refocus. It was then that I realized that he was watching me.
There was no choice now. I had to go to the slums. I sigh before warping out of the apartment, and onto the sidewalk. Many Transcendents were having conversations with each other, going through the day without a single thing to worry about. On the outside, I was trying my best to look calm. Even though on the inside, I was panicking. Some of the people who were walking by looked at me with a bit of concern. I tried to smile at them, so that I would not look worried and draw attention to myself.
After a couple of minutes, I finally come up to the Transcendence Central Station. The building was large, and very busy. One of the guards looked at me. "Mr. Evans, where might you be going to?" he questioned me with a deep and serious sounding voice.
I took a deep breath before replying to him, "Oh, just to the Northwest Sector"
He cocked his eyebrow a bit. "Ah, well...Have a good trip. If you'd like, you can use the Warp Station."
Being an Assistant Supervisor has its perks. I grinned a little. "Thank you," I said to the guard as I started to walk to where the W.S. would be. It took a couple of minutes to get to my desired location, since I had to navigate through the huge amount of Transcendents within the center. Luckily, the W.S. wasn't busy. I walked up to the circular, light blue pad, placed my paws onto the holographic keyboard, and typed in the coordinates for the Northwest Sector.
Northwest Sector a.k.a Sector 4, 19:57 p.m.
I appeared in the center of the NW Sector. As I walked, the street lights became a bit dimmer. "I'm getting close to the Slums..." I came up to an alley way, and went through it. The alley was dark, but it was quite wide. There was some steam coming from a couple of pipes that were attached to some buildings.
I heard a faint snicker. A horse wearing a poncho and sombrero smirked when I looked to him. He tipped his hat slightly as a small signal. I looked around to make sure that it was somewhat a secure conversation. I walked over to him "Can I help you?" He asked me in a slightly raspy voice and with a clear smirk on his face.
"Do you know Peter McCarthy...?" I inquired to him in the most serious tone.
He sighed a bit. "I might...For the right price, of course."
To prevent collateral damage, I tried to barter the information out of him, but he constantly attempted to goad me into giving way to my insanity.
"Love should mean more to you than 20,000 credits...Unless...You want your mutt to be de-rezzed." The horse laughed. "No money...Peter promised me some entertainment...But by the looks of you...I highly doubt you'll satisfy me. Tell you what...If you beat me, I'll tell you what you want...If you lose...Well, good luck for you or your mate staying alive..."
Before I could respond, he took out two daggers; and, within a short moment, the horse stabbed my right arm. I tried to hold in a pained scream, which was somewhat successful.
Immediately, he came at me at an amazing speed. I conjured up an iron short sword for defense.
He was too fast. He slashed at me over and over, and I was losing blood fast. I tried to think of something quick, and it hit me: "A surge." I stopped him with my paw, which I made sure was centered on his chest. "Salo Electrica Industria." I sent a powerful electrical shock through his body, which resulted in him flying back into a wall with a good amount of force. He tried his best to move, but, since the shock most likely messed up his system, his efforts were fruitless.
Suddenly he stood up, as if nothing happened to him. His smile was far more twisted than before. He rushed at me in one, very quick movement. I felt a sharp pain in my chest. When I looked down, I saw blood stains on my shirt. More wounds appeared on my body, as the seconds passed. I tried my best to defend myself, but he was too fast. The pain increased, as more wounds were inflicted upon me. I held my screams. In this fight, I was trying to not show any weakness, no matter how much I got hurt.
Before I could even try to attack him, one of his daggers impaled my right arm. To no avail, I could not hold in my screams. He snickered at me, enjoying every single moment of my pain. When I looked at the blade, I saw the corrupted blood seep out. I was rather confused, because I hadn't transformed yet.
"Time to die." He declared as he prepared to send the surge into me.
I smiled at him. "Not yet...Salo Massa Electrica Industria!"
For a short moment, nothing happened. As expected, he took the chance to hit me, but when his hoof came close to my chest, he jolted violently. A sphere of red electrical energy formed on his hoof. The sphere expanded very quickly, as it consumed the horse and myself. However, I have never been affected by my own attacks. After the surge, he got sent flying into opposite side of the alley wall.
"That was fun...Peter was right about you." He says with a quiet, maniacal laugh as I limped over to him. "As for your fat mutt...You can find him at a whore house called The Pussy Cat...I suggest you hurry...It won't be long before Peter runs out of subjects and use the mutt."
I growled quietly. "I won't let him." I used my electrical powers to jumpstart my body's healing process as I walked away.
I quickly made my way to the brothel and managed to bribe my into the back entrance; however, the black bear was waiting on me. He stood in front of a white curtain that was draped from the ceiling.
As I looked upon him, he let out a sinister laugh and declared, "Well, well, if it isn't my soon to be prized specimen. I must say, you were taking so long that I was about to think you didn't care about your precious hybrid."
"Where is he?!" I growled out loudly in anger as I tried to maintain control over my insanity level.
Unaffected, Peter simply replied, "Don't worry," and snapped his fingers, signaling the tarp behind him to fall. After taking silent enjoyment at my eyes widening at the site of Alexander nude and suspended over a vat of light green liquid, he continued, "Your mutt is safe for the moment and will remain as such, unless you refuse my demands."
I knew full well what he wanted. Peter had been looking for ways to overthrow the upper ranks of the Transcendence and take control of everything for himself, and the serum flowing through my body would've been the final piece to his puzzle. This was not the first time he was after me, my research, and my insanity infused blood. This was just the time when he was the closest.
He gave me a choice: give my body to him and ensure his take over with hundreds of insanity-driven soldiers, or let him drop Alexander into the de-resolution liquid and lose him forever while guarding the future of our world. I knew my duty; I also knew that my Tanuskidoodle would rather die than become a pawn in Peter's play for domination.
"I'll never give myself to you!" I exclaimed.
"Very well," he began in his usual, scientifically arctic tone. "Then, you can say goodbye to your mate as you know him!"
The next thing I knew, Alexander was falling toward the solution. Time slowed to a near halt as my mind tried to gather all of his features in his final moments. I knew that my paws would never again fell the soft, curly, light brown fur--accented by the black of the pads his paws, natural mask around his eyes, and rings around his tail-- and chubby body against my own. His cute, rounded teeth would no longer nip playfully at my neck; and his triangular, round-tip ears would no longer be there to listen to me in my times of emotional need. Those loving brown irises would never lock with my eyes in passionate gazes ever again.
The bear simply stood there, laughing maniacally as my beloved was submerged in the solution. Just as I was about to rip through Peter's body with my own hands, the vat, which was behind a glass wall, was torn asunder from the inside. My soul was almost shattered by what I saw. On the other side of the clear glass was my Alexander. It was not de-resolution serum; in reality, it was a version of my insanity serum that Peter's had reverse engineered for his own experiments.
Temporary changes to the body are a normal side effect of insanity in us Transcendence, but what happened to Alexander was...unreal. His normally plump body was now hulking. The light brown, curly fur that I'd run through my paws through was straight, sharp, and a shade of seal brown. His fangs were sharpened, and two protruded pasted his lips from both his top and bottom jaw. His normally well groomed claws were now butcher knives that extended from his fingers. His soulful eyes were red and glowing like a mothman's.
As I took everything in, Peter's sneered and bellowed, "If you won't be my subject, then Alexander, or Experiment of Mass Insanity-01 as he will be known from today on, will have to feel your shoes!" He snapped his digits, calling Alexander's attention. "EMI-01, attack! Kill your once beloved and prove the extent of my genius!"
With one punch, Alexander broke through the glass wall before rushing at an unreal speed towards me. I put my hands up to block as I called out to him. I was on the ground with him looming over me. When he growled and raised his paw to the air, readying himself to slash through my chest. I put my hand to his stomach and used my Sola Massa Electrica Industria to send a surge of electricity through the room.
Alexander was sent through two walls as Peter was blown back into the shattered glass. I staggered up and limped as fast as I can to my hybrid's side. I knew that the transformation and endurance from his induced insanity would protect his body from the brunt of the damage. I found him paralyzed on the ground, where he was growling and struggling to move. I kneeled beside him and, placing my striped paw against his cheek, said, "Alex it's me, Anthony." Though his eyes were still glowing, his snarling softened in volume. "Remember, when we met on Assignment Day?" I asked him in a loving voice, which caused his movements to at almost stop.
I felt a few bullets hit my back, causing me to scream in pain. Peter had recovered and shot me with a destabilizer gun. The bullets in question caused my nervous system to be disrupted, thereby baring me from reacting. Just then, Alexander managed to stand and pounce on the bear, knocking him to the ground and the gun to the other side of the room. Before I could even call his name, my insanity driven Tanuskidoodle clamped his jaw onto the bears head and tore it clean off of his neck, in a single instant.
However, he wasn't finished. Alexander proceeded to use his claws to shred the now headless body of Peter McCarthy. I was unable to call him or move due to the destabilizer bullets and was forced to look on as he tore the fur, hide, and organs away from the body.
It is then that the Transcendence SWAT flooded the hideout and fired volley after volley of tranquilizers at Alexander's body. My beloved was on the ground after thirty, horror filled seconds.
Transcendent HQ, Central Sector, 21:32 p.m.
We were ported to HQ immediately and treated. Well, I was treated for my wounds. Alexander was experimented on. I had to watch as he was strapped and braced to the examination table and examined: his blood was drawn, his brain was scanned, and his body put through stress test. All while, he was sedated; however, he was awake to experience it all.
The interest of my superiors in Research and Development was Alexander's prolonged transformation. Typically, an insanity-driven Transcendent returns to normal after his or her emotions calm or being knocked unconscious. However, my beloved was and still is in a monstrous state of transformation. The results, data, observations, and speculations are all in the R&D Department's records; so, I will thankfully and gladly leave those out of this report.
My data and constitution were restored within hours. Soon after, Alexander came out of his sedation, and memories came flooding back to him.
"What have I done?" he asked as tears cascaded down his seal face from his red eyes. I tried to calm him down, but the fact that we were in an underground cell did not help our situation.
I did the only thing I could do, not as his assigned medical aide but as his mate. I held him, and I was glad to do it. I didn't care about the sharp fur, the fangs and claws, the red eyes, or even the blood that was still on his muzzle, claws and body.
After he calmed down and his tears subsided, I called Supervisor Long in an attempt to reason with him about Alexander's emotional state. I have to admit that things got heated when he said that there were still more tests to be done. I don't remember much other than practically screaming at him, "I will be damned--God mother fucking damned--if I am going to let him be treated as anything less than person." After a few words from him about insubordination, he granted my request for a bath and change of venue for Alexander.
A few minutes later we were teleported to the designated room for Alexander's bath. Under orders, I had to cuff his hands and footpaws together with limiter restraints. I drew the water in the tub and helped him in. By the small smile that crossed his face, I could tell that he was better for the moment. Despite the guards and scientists observing through the one-way glass in the windows, I disrobed from my uniform and joined him in the tub.
I began with his face. After soaping my paws, I lathered up his muzzle thoroughly. Then, I wrung out a rag over him to wash away the suds. Then, I did his arms. I noticed that his fur softened and dulled as it was wet; I believe this was due in part to his calming emotions. His claws took some time, for I wanted to make sure not a single drop of Peter's blood was left to remind Alexander of what transpired. His chest, back, legs, and footpaws were quick work.
After I finished washing him, I embraced him and nestled into his chest. I looked up into his eyes and said, "We will get through this." He retuned my embrace and gazed back at me. It was then that I noticed his eyes change from that intense, glowing red to the soft brown that I have come to love.
When the allotted time for the bath was finished, we were ported to another room, where Alexander would be sequestered. At first, the walls were white and blank, but a program was soon put in to have it project the setting of our apartment. My canine was tired so, I lay nude with him on the bed until he fell asleep.
To end my report, Peter's threat to the Order of Transcendence has been terminated. We Transcendents normally reform in RE-solution Pods when we are killed or run out of energy. The only two exceptions are De-resolution Solution or our brains sustaining heavy damage.
Alexander, despite his transformation, could still be reached and acted to protect me against that wicked bear and saved the future of our society in the process. Untold damage to his psyche and body is his sacrifice. He should be held as a hero, and I hope the Council of High Transcendents in the Capital Sector bear this in mind.
That is the end of my account. The time is 03:11 a.m.
