Singing for No Reason
Imported from SF2 with no description.
“Wanna let give ya a ride home?" I asked Lacy as I shoved my bag into the locker and pushed the door shut. Class had finally released and we struggled to get through the hundreds of people until we made a stop by my locker so we could hang back while the hall cleared out.
“No thanks, I was going to hitch a ride with my friend" she told me before looking behind me. “There she is now, Miranda…Miranda" she called and I turned my head back to see a female husky in jeans and a gray t-shirt walking towards us.
“Hey Lacy" the husky greeted as she stopped behind me and I think I saw a tinge of red on her cheeks through her snowy white fur.
'Is she…blushing?' I thought while she continued to stare at me.
“Miranda…Miranda…hellooo, anyone home?" Lacy snapped her fingers in front of the dogs face to get her attention.
“Huh…oh, uh, sorry about that." She was definitely blushing now. I heard Lacy giggling as she moved from the lockers and came up beside her.
“I see that somethings…piqued your…interests." The vixen nudged her friend with a playful elbow. “Buck, this is Miranda, she's the lovely little twit I've been telling you about."
“Nice to meet ya Miranda" I turned to face her and stuck my hand out towards her. She reached for the offered hand slowly, as if unsure of what to think about the gesture, and took it into her grasp and I shook her paw softly.
“It's nice to meet you too" she said timidly and cleared her throat before regaining her composure. “Ready to go Lacy?"
“Yep, are we still going into town?"
“Yeah, but I have to wait for my brother, he wanted to get some shopping done himself."
“That's fine with me." She threw her purse over her shoulder and started walking away with her friend. “Hey Buck, do you want to come with us?" Lacy looked over her shoulder back at me.
“Sure, why not, I ain't got nothin' else to do." I shrugged and pushed myself off the lockers and started walking with them. They started conversing between each other and I took the time to study the husky in front of me. She definitely cared about her appearance; her long black and white fur was so clean that it nearly sparkled. She and Lacy were about the same 5'6" height, Miranda standing just a bit taller, and they both had that perfect hourglass figure. I glanced at both their shapely rears as discreetly as possible until I saw Lacy staring back at me from the corner of her eye with a smile. I grinned nervously and placed my hands behind my back, trying my best to look innocent. She giggled inaudibly and went back to talking with Miranda while we continued our walk to the student parking lot.

“So you two are dating?" Miranda asked as we stood by the husky's white Chevy Tahoe. She had started questioning us on how we knew each other and I simply leaned on the car and watched as Lacy explained everything to her.
“Hey sis, hey Lacy" I heard someone yell and I saw another husky that looked like Amanda coming towards us.
“Hey Jay" Amanda yelled back and gave the fur a hug.
“Who's that?" he asked, looking to me.
“He's a friend of Lacy's"
“Howdy friend, names Eli but everyone just calls me Buck" I held out my hand to him. He smiled and grabbed my hand with a firm grip.
“I'm Jay, it's nice to meet you mate" he replied and backed up to stand next to Miranda again. “Are you coming with us?"
“Yeah, and we should probably get outta here before that bell rings and we get boxed in by traffic." I checked the time and saw that we had a good half-hour until school lets out.
“Good idea, just have to find my keys" Miranda said while digging through her purse.
“You find those, I gotta find my truck." I hit the lock button and heard a horn in the distance.
“I'll pull her round and follow y'all" I left them and found my truck a few spaces away from them. I turned her on and pulled up behind the Tahoe.
“Hey Buck; is it alright if I ride with you?" I looked to Jay and motioned with my hand for him to get in. “Thanks" he said after hopping into the passenger seat and buckling up.
“No problem, but why'd ya wanna ride with me in the first place?" I asked him as we pulled out of the lot and I followed the girls down the road.
“I didn't want to listen to non-stop talking and pop music"
“Then you made the right choice bud, I avoid pop as much as possible."
“What kind of music do you listen to?"
“Mostly hard rock and punk."
“Me too, what's your favorite band?" He sounded pretty happy that someone listens to that kind of music. Maybe it's not very popular in this town.
“I don't really have a favorite, kinda just listen to 'em all. What about you?"
“Sum 41" He answered and I grinned.
“Really now…Jay, do me a favor and open the glove compartment."
“Why?" He looked at me in confusion.
“Just do it."
He shrugged and pulled the latch, causing the door to drop open ad reveal dozens of album cases neatly stacked on each other.
“…Whoa" he was rendered speechless as he stared at them in aww. I laughed at his reaction and hit the CD button on the touch screen radio.
“Got everything from Sum 41 to The Offspring, pick one and pop it in." I watched his eyes light up like a child on Christmas day before he scoured through all the different genres and bands.
“How about this one?" Jay held up Sum 41's album Chuck.
“Fine with me." He put the disk into the CD player and selected the second song in the track, No Reason. It was silent for a few seconds before the sounds of the drums and guitar blared from the speakers.
“All of us believe that
_This is not up to you
The fact of the matter is
That it's up to me"_
_“Hey! Hey! Hey
Hey! Hey! Hey
Let's go!"_
_“How can we fake this anymore (anymore)
We turn our backs away and choose to just ignore (Choose to just ignore)
(Some say) Some say it's ignorance
It makes me feel some innocence
It takes away a part of me
That I won't let go"_
_“Tell me why can't you see it's not the way (not the way)
When we all fall down, it will be too late
Why is there no reason we can't change (no reason)
When we all fall down, who will take the blame
Will it take"_
I laughed silently while Jay started losing himself in the music and started singing along, and gotta say that he sounded pretty good.
_“Nothing could ever be this real (be this real)
A life unsatisfied that I could never feel (I could never feel)
(Some say) This future's not so bright
Some can't make the sacrifice
It's much more than just black and white
And I won't follow"_
_“Tell me why can't you see it's not the way (not the way)
When we all fall down, it will be too late
Why is there no reason, we can't change
When we all fall down, who will take the blame
Will it take"_
_“Times like these I've come to see how
Everything but time is running out"_
_“Hey! Hey! Hey
Hey! Hey! Hey
Right!"_
_“All of us believe in what we need
What we have's what we don't see"_
“Ah, what the hell" I said and started singing right with him.
_“Tell me why can't you see it's not the way (not the way)
When we all fall down, it will be too late
Why is there no reason, we can't change
When we all fall down, who will take the blame
Who will it take"_
_“Tell me why can't you see it's not the way (not the way)
When we all fall down it won't be too late
Why is there no reason we can't change
When we all fall down, who will take the blame
Will it take"_
The song ended as I pulled into the mall parking lot.
“Were here already…well how about that" the husky said in surprise. I was just a surprised as he was.
The drive from the school to the mall is short, but damn.
“Let's ignore the little time-slip right there and just be glad we got here so quickly." I shut off the engine and stuck the key on my belt before grabbing my hat and jumping out of the truck.
“Yeah, that's what I was thinking" he agreed and followed my lead as I took a seat at the by the doors and waited for the girls to get their things so we could get this day on a roll. “You go off and do what you gotta do; I'll keep an eye on those two." He nodded and went off into the building.
“Come on Lacy, let's get this show on the road." The fox bent over into the car to get something from the back, giving me quite a view. “On second thought, stay right there for a minute" I laughed and relaxed into the bench.
