It's hard to believe that we've been in to The Gift for over a year and a half but, here we are: the final post for the final storyline.

Although Edward did lose one of his four Spirits and his family he is able to maintain his final three companions. He didn't end up with the best score for the three of them, but he was able to keep them happy and, I might add, accomplished something special with The Ancient One.

Thank you all for following along this lengthy storyline, and I hope you can all breathe a sigh of relief that Edward Clark managed to conclude his story on an up-note; he's definitely earned it. I appreciate those of you who've stuck in for the entire story and, as always, I'm thankful for your favs and comments!

The Gift

Edward's Storyline, Chapter 10.6

That night I changed for the first time, but it wasn't the last. Over the course of the next few months I learned more about uniting with Spirits and, I'm glad to say, I survived the lessons. After all the fall-out of my grandparents' passing their attorney saw to the disbursement of the estate, which was all mine, but I wasn't really focused on that-- not with all of the Spirit stuff going on in my life.

I had the attorney sell the house and deposit the funds into an account for me. After that I gave my notice at the junk yard so it would be easier to set Human stuff aside and focus more on understanding the Spirits. Ch'upikaq continued my training when it came to joining with a Spirit but, by that point, I wasn't interested in trying it with The Ancient One. He was relatively understanding, which was good, but Green really didn't take it very well.

We argued a lot during that time, but, believe it or not, that was progress. He was finally able to put out into words what frustrated him so much about me and it was a damn long list. Only toward the end of the third month did he finally come clean. It was after a particularly lengthy rant about how difficult I was and how I should have long-since helped The Ancient One resolve their dilemma of which of the three needed to go. Only as he concluded his plethora of objections did he finish with "...and I can't be with you until you do!"

It was the first time Green had ever bothered even admitting that he had any interest in being associated with me. It was pretty vague for him though, so I pressed him on that. "Of course you can. You're with me right now, Green."

He snorted, crossing his arms over his chest as he came about as close to pouting as he was able. "You are in my presence, Seeker... but that is not enough. Not for me. Not any more. I wish to make you mine."

I had an inkling what he meant, but I couldn't help but force him to be the direct kind of Dragon he usually was. "You always call me your Seeker anyway... it's not like--"

Green growled the words out. "I wish to mate you, stupid Human. I want to feel you quiver beneath me as I penetrate you and make you mine in all the ways that matter."

My smile was almost purely out of victory but, I have to admit, some of it was gratification. Despite his often aloof attitude, his overbearing nature, and his all-too aggressive in-my-face attitude, I liked him. "Why do you have to wait for that?"

Before that moment I had never pictured Green as being capable of being speechless. He was so stunned, in fact, that Red easily took control of his mouth, addressing me. "While it would technically be possible, there are three of us together and I believe he would want you all to himself."

I had been studying enough by that point to have an answer for that. Holding out my hand, I requested his with a single word. "Talon."

Rather than speaking up, telling me off, objecting, or offering some asshole-type statement, Green obediently did as I had asked. What I did wasn't the same as merging with him, but the way his essence and mine flowed wasn't entirely different. There were three different Spirits occupying the same ephemeral body, but I was able to guide it and shift it or, in that case, lock things... for just a little while.

When he pulled his talon away from me he raised it up in front of his face and he murmured "I... am me."

I nodded. "For a little while."

Lowering his digits his reptilian eyes focused on me, pupils expanding as he stared. "How long, Seeker?"

I smiled. "Long enough."

We made good use of the time.

I lived off of my inheritance as I continued learning about the Spirits, building up a familiarity of merging with Tre, who remained my one and only partner in that aspect. When we were separate we were still together-- an amazing team, but when we joined we became something else entirely. We were a werewolf, like out of a Hollywood movie, and we embodied the most powerful parts of both Spirit and Human.

When we were joined we had exceptional strength, lightning speed, and the ability to become physical or spirit-matter at will. The idea of being a 'super hero' was raised more than once and, to be honest, I'm not sure whether it was originally proposed by Tre or myself. The idea didn't sound like a bad one, to be honest, and, as the months went by I even toyed with planning out just how it would work... assuming it would. It did... but not exactly in the way you might think.

Most people never developed any sense of understanding when it came to Spirits, but Spirits had interacted with humanity since the beginning. Just like with Humans there were good Spirits and bad Spirits. After what I'd gone through, I wanted to make sure Spirits like War would never get away with the kinds of things she had subjected me to; I wanted to make sure that there was someone to make sure they couldn't harm people and destroy lives. To any Human I met, I was what I'd always been: Edward Clark. To the Spirits in and around Cherry City, though, I became a Guardian of man... neither Human nor Spirit, but walking in both worlds equally.

Tre was grateful for the opportunity to continue being a Guardian Spirit in duty, but, truth be told, he had forsaken that title and instead elected to be my partner in all ways. We continued to make love when the urge struck us, most often as two separate bodies joining together in the act of carnal pleasure but, every now and again, there was a special thrill in us using our united form and understanding just what it could do when we were interested in trying new things. One thing I can say for certain: having a knot is mind-blowing, even when you're only using your own paw.

As for Medved... well... every Batman needs an Alfred, and the Bear filled every one of those roles-- he kept me from doing anything too rash; he kept an eye out on me and provided me guidance when I needed it; he stayed close to be of assistance when I asked; of course, probably most importantly: he loved me. I'd grown up without a dad and, within the scope of a summer I'd lost my mom and grandparents, but the Bear was there for me throughout it all and he became my family.

It was a crazy time, but an amazing time. I'd always wanted to be able to make a difference and fight for the powerless, but I'd always had my limits. Seeing those expand way past what I would have thought possible, a new door opened for me and I was finally able to be what Medved had come to call 'my best self'. Although he and Tre didn't always agree or see eye-to-eye, they both wanted what was best for me, and, I gotta say, having that kind of support is pretty damn cool.

Maybe you're wondering what I finally decided when it came to The Ancient One, but, to be honest, my answer'd probably be a disappointment. When I finally realized that I couldn't put off answering their problem forever, I called all of my Spirits together and, merging with Tre, let the Wolf start, using our shared muzzle. "Eddie decided how he's going to handle your demand."

Red, having elected himself as the spokesperson for the discussion bowed his head, body floating in the air as he addressed me. "Of course. Seeker... who will be sacrificed?"

The feel of a muzzle smiling is entirely different from a Human mouth and it felt like my flesh peeled back as I showed our teeth. "None of you. I am not going to play your game."

Green quickly grabbed hold of the body, The Ancient One's green coils filling out into a massive Geren scaled armored body. "What? That is unacceptable, Seeker! You--"

I reached out and grabbed Green's shoulder, gripping it tightly so he could feel just how much stronger Tre and I were together than we were seprately. "You aren't going to try and force me to decide... are you, Green?"

Despite his overbearing nature, he was, at his most pure essence, a creature of nature and that meant he would defer to something stronger than he; Tre and I united were certainly that. Lowering his head, Green let out a discontented hiss. "We cannot survive forever like this... Edward."

He rarely if ever used my name; it sounded as though it were an admission that he surrendered the point and I knew I could expect him to honor my decision. I wasn't done though. "I have a solution to that."

Red was the first to figure it out and his voice came out of Green's pouting snout. "Edward can instill his power into us."

As the rest of Green's body slowly returned to that of the oriental Dragon it was impossible to miss that Red really DID understand my plan; his two serpentine shafts were jutting out of his genital slit. I'd learned during my long talks with Ch'upikaq that a 'well fed' Spirit could share their essence with a weaker Spirit through sexual contact and, during that time, I'd begun to realize that when Tre and I were united I was as much Spirit as Human. "Right. All three of you."

Our paw lost our grip on The Ancient One as his shoulder disappeared; Ch'upikaq had taken control of the body and, before my eyes, the rainbow Serpent drew closer with a single flap of his wings. His coils wound their way around our lupine body, gently encircling us as his reptilian head pressed closer to our face. His soft-but-still-masculine voice emerged a moment before his tongue. "I would ask for nothing more."

The Serpent's scaled snout pressed against the end of our muzzle and I heard Tre in the back of my head whine softly even as I groaned with our muzzle; Ch'upikaq's two hemi-penises had emerged and had worked their way up against our sheath. In mere moments our shaft had emerged, but the Serpent had worked his coils close and, a split second later, we had found our mark. I didn't know if Tre and I joined together could manage to keep up with the three aspects of The Ancient One, but I was willing to try.

Note for future reference: we did just fine. Oh, and if you're wondering, the end result was better than I'd expected. Green, Red, and Ch'upikaq are now with us separately, and that means Tre and I have four Spirits keeping an eye on us. Apparently, according to Red they should be able to survive separately indefinitely... so long as they continue to get semi-regular 'injections' of essence. I'm pretty sure we've got that covered.
