Here's Chapter 20 everybody, Enjoy.

Knowing Stark like I do he's going to everything in his power to end my life. I'll need to train in such a way that'll prepare me for what ever he'll throw my way. Seeing as every clan is present I've got no doubt I'll be ready for that dark Kitsune. First I tracked down High Priestess Esuntei and leader of the Knights of Iakkedin. This way I could begin training under the very lovely snow white and gold Kyubi.

She certainly came prepared with all sorts of training tools and even weaponry. Not really comfortable wielding weapons and I expressed my feelings to her. Esuntei didn't want to alter the training she had planned but, respected my wishes. With no other conditions she didn't waste anytime getting an idea of my abilities. This way she can create a regiment to take them to an even higher level than now.

Despite my recent power boost thanks to Nubai's mother yesterday evening. Granted it was only a thirty percent increase according to her but, didn't feel it. My main goal for this style of training is to try unlocking all of my hidden potential. I'm confident that I'll be able to under Esuntei's tutelage if nothing bad happens. "Orion there's something I'd like to ask, what do you know about energy projection?" She asked.

"Before my mother Ashandria passed she taught me what she knew about it. Now I've never been able to actually use such a technique in practice or in combat. She told me I simply wasn't ready but, when the time comes I'd become stronger." I replied. Agreeing with mother's assessment and she was willing to teach me how it's done. Next we headed to the base of the mountain far away from any innocent bystanders.

"Be aware that this ability is very dangerous if you're not in true harmony. Since you're Ashandria's son than you should be more than ready for the next phase. Now please move aside so that I can demonstrate how this technique is performed." Esuntei stated. Doing as she asked then her power level increased next she raised her hand up. Air began to swirl near the palm then with a flick changing it into an energy ball.

Next she firmly grasped her elbow with her free hand and centered herself. Sizing up a suitable target first then with another flick of the wrist the ball launches. Racing through the air upon coming into contact with a boulder making it explode. Thus kicking up plenty of snow and debris forcing me to shield myself briefly. Once everything had settled down I lowered my arms and couldn't find the boulder.

"Alright now it's your turn and don't get discourage if it doesn't work right away. Try until you find a rhythm that works best for you, just let me move aside first." She said. Something about the way Esuntei spoke reminded me of how Ashandria trained me. "Hmm, do I want to know why you're smiling like that, Orion?" She wondered. I told the vixen that she simply reminded of my mom making her ears twitch.

"I can tell just by how you speak about you the two of you were very close. Honestly I would've loved to have met the legendary hero from the Valurean war." She admitted. It touched my heart to hear her say that but, it also gave me an idea for the future. Though I will have to discuss it with all three of my soon to be wives beforehand. Talking to any of them after today's training probably wouldn't be a smart idea.

When you consider the fact we're not married so this topic isn't appropriate. Seeing as I'd wind up in a boat load of trouble with all three of my loving vixens. Until peace is restored this kind of distraction was keeping me from training. Since I was currently receiving a not so happy look from Esuntei at the moment. Taking both hands, brought them together and focused every scrap of my energy.

Concentrated amounts of air began to swirl in my hands then I tried igniting it. All that ended up happening was the ball exploded sending me flying backwards. Brushing myself off, stood up, tried again but, made sure not repeat my mistake. Each attempt from there the results varied from violent to where nothing happened. To be honest this technique won't be of much use especially at the rate I'm going.

"Hold on, Orion perhaps we're going about this the wrong let's try another way." Esuntei replied. Spinning around to face her with the look like are you bloody serious right now. I've been practicing for the past three hours and now you want to try something else. Quickly taking a deep breath then agreed to hear what she had in mind this time. "You're doing everything correctly but, strangely it's not working." She began.

"Your frustration hasn't been lost on me Orion this technique is difficult. For someone not properly trained but, you shouldn't be having this much trouble. Something is going on here that's preventing you from being able to utilize it. Why don't we try using an emotional trigger and let's see if that's the spark you need." She informed. Figuring it was worth a shot I centered myself and tried this one final time.

Rotating my arms in a circular motion while summoning all my power forth. When my fingertips touched my eyes snapped open and the ball of air morphed. It ignited into a perfect ball of energy, clutching it into my hand then drew back. The energy ball got bigger as I selected my target then launched it at the boulder. Like a missile it rocketed through the air and struck the rock with explosive results.

The shockwave from such a blast forced Esuntei and myself to brace ourselves. I was quick to follow that initial volley with several more that all hit their marks. Esuntei looked pleased next came time for the next step learning how to fly. "Before you ask not everyone uses magic to fly Orion some actually use energy. Now magic is abundant but, energy is its counter part and takes less time to use." She stated.

Granted an experienced kitsune has created short cuts for using various spells. However even with such trick the spell still takes time while energy attacks don't. They're pretty much focus, aim and fire it doesn't give a mage time to defend. Especially if the fight happens regardless of where the fight is currently taking place. Hopefully once I master these abilities I'll have a strong trump card against Stark.

Flying didn't prove to be all that hard to do but, it was physically draining. Fortunately the more she had me fly around the less taxing it became for me. Once she felt I had flying down we moved onto other tricks until the sun went down. When we got back to the house I was spent the only thing I wanted was food and sleep. Though I managed to catch a shower before grabbing a bite to eat with everyone.

After reaching my bedroom my body hit the mattress and that was it for me. I didn't move or speak until early the next morning when Kyuri poked my shoulder. "Sorry to wake you hun but, the Knights have requested your presense outside." She smiled. Climbing off the warm bed, kissed her cheek then got dressed before joining them. It was simply a review of everything I did yesterday but, under combat conditions.

That was a butt kicking and half, by the end of the day I was carried to my bedroom. Where Kyuri's healing touch lulled me to sleep until she woke me the next morning. Granted at first I was against the idea but, I decided to learn how to wield weaponry. More specifically how to disarm somebody that's using them against someone. Each of the knights wielded a particular weapon and mastered it's various qualities.

This includes the weapon's strengths, weaknesses and inventive means of use. When it came to wielding them myself I refused saying that it felt unnatural to me. Even if it was the simplest of weapons it felt like they were infected with a plague. Esuntei seemed to get frustrated with me but, she decided not push me anymore. Though she told that me that I was just as stubborn as my mother Ashandria was.

For some reason or another I found what she told me to be quite hilarious. Despite hitting the nail on the head regarding my adoptive mother's stubborn streak. "What can I say Esuntei, when mom's mind was made up it's impossible to change. Unless you happen to prove her wrong than she was always quick with an apology." I smiled. If crossed Ashandria could be down right vicious and that's never a good thing.

Having seen what happened to the last kitsune that made an enemy of my mother. Before I could reminisce any further I sensed something coming so I got ready. Not liking the presense I grabbed Esuntei by her waist then vaulted into the air. As the ground exploded where we had been standing on though we landed nearby. "Stay here, who or what ever this is, they've come for me and nobody else." I stated.

"I'm sorry Orion you're not ready for this, so leave this monster to me, alright." Esuntei said. With that she vaulted off the ledge to face our unwelcomed guest head on. It sprang up through the cloud of smoke it created and went right around her. Coming straight towards me then from out of nowhere this gold streak struck hard. "ORION, DO AS YOU'RE TOLD GET BACK TO THE HOUSE!" Jaxal ordered.

Frozen in place until the creature tried attacking again this time Jecht intervened. He repeated Jaxal's order and this time I hurried back to the house as ordered. As the village came into view the sounds of a battle filled my ears as I got closer. Fortunately the rest of the guardians and Iakkedin knights were keeping them at bay. I didn't hesitate rushing to Mickale's home where my mother and the innocents were.

Despite all the fighting going on I was able to get a good look at the creatures. They had no eyes or fur and moved around on four legs and possessed razor-like claws. Vrektaurs, demonic underground pack hunters that are very loyal to one another. Even more so to the person that's able to tame the alpha and the rest follow suit. Sadly that's about all the info I knew but, I just wish that I knew their weaknesses.

One thing stood out the more I watched the fighting there was no sign of the alpha. My gut told me the alpha was close just waiting for the right moment to strike. Keeping my senses sharp and my eyes peeled for the alpha or the being in charge. For some reason I picked up on a strange scent it was smelt worse than rotting fish. Acting quickly I jumped out of the line of fire as strange blade splintered the wood.

Followed by a loud angry hiss coming from directly above me and sure enough. The Vrektaur alpha appeared though this one was different it could actually see. Not bothering to hesitate I created a small ball of energy then fired it at the alpha. Sadly my attack failed to take the creature down though I managed to take it's arm. Yowling in pain so I followed my first volley with another while it was distracted.

Despite losing an arm the alpha avoiding my second attack like it was nothing. It was merely a ploy to draw the creature in close so that I could stab it in the heart. Grabbing a sharp chunk of wood that had broken earlier I drove it right through. Unfortunately not without sustaining injury myself as the alpha roared defiantly. Next it slumped to the ground motionless all of a sudden it's pack stopped fighting.

With the death of their alpha they lost all taste for battle and wisely retreated. As my adrenaline wore off it was slowly replaced with searing pain from my wound. Lucky for me Vadel happened to be nearby and quickly applied a healing spell. "Don't worry Orion I'll have you back in fighting shape in no time, hun. Looks like all that training you've been under going lately is certainly paying off." She replied.

"Let me ask you something Vadel did something about all this seem easy to you?" I wondered. She waited until my wounds were healed before giving me any sort of response. "Now that you mention it, this raid wasn't well planned like it was a test. Vrektaur are normally organized beings and don't fight unless victory is assured." Lilith replied. Vadel agreed with her fellow clan leader's assessment regarding this situation.

"My gut is telling me this was either a test or scouts sent to locate you, Orion. Especially when you stop to consider that Vrektaurs normally avoid cold climates. For them to come up into the mountains to attack us it just doesn't make sense." Vadel stated. What nobody expected after such a strong point for someone to give us an answer. "Oh, how right you are Lady Vadel those Vrektaurs were a ruse." A voice began.

"Now if you don't mind my master has business with the human so move aside. Failure to do so will result in the complete destruction of this pathetic little village." He informed. The energy he was giving off felt dark and twist telling me it was Stark's handiwork. Even though I'm a lot stronger now than I was before but, his power felt different. As he stood there waiting for my answer Nubai was sneaking up behind him.

Like a flash she vanished from sight and by the time he noticed it was too late. She grabbed him under the chin and behind the head then gave a quick twist. All that could be heard was the sounds of the bones in evil kitsune's neck break. His body crumpled to the ground like a sack of flour then slowly turned to ash. My senses pinged so I fired a massive beam of energy towards it and hit my mark.

The same kitsune that Nubai had supposedly killed dropped to the ground. This time it wasn't a copy since a puddle of blood began to pool around him. "Savor your victory human the war will be upon you weak minded fools soon." He coughed. With that said the dark kitsune's life faded away and leaving us feeling uncertain. Just how much time do I actually have left before Stark put his plans into action?

"Ease your mind Orion this kitsune was sent to test you and deliver that message. As a precaution we should double our efforts in case Stark pays us an early visit." Esuntei stated. Vadel told her that I wouldn't be training for forty eight hours due to my injuries. Since a Vrektaur managed to get in a good shot and I needed in-depth treatment. To my surprise the high priestess began to argue with Vadel a clan leader no less.

Before things could escalate any further Devi appeared and made them separate. "It's good to see you Orion I trust your training is progressing nicely since we last met. Lady Ivory say hello and hopes you'll come visit her soon and have tea together." Devi said. Telling the black vixen I'd be happy to share a cup of tea with her when I have time. "Something tell me you didn't come here just for that, so what's up?" I asked.

Chuckling as she agreed that she'd come to collect the alpha Vrektaur's corpse. Escorting her over to it where she wrapped it up in a special bag then placed a tag. Merely to preserve and seal any power that resided inside the body after death. Hoisting its body onto her shoulder then told me she'd let us know what she finds. Devi did advise everyone to relocate since this location isn't safe anymore.

Luckily the village elders had another location ready in case of such emergencies. As for new training grounds that's going to be a lot easier said than done I'm afraid. "Orion, don't worry about that we've got someplace very special in mind for you. The clan leaders will help the people of this village relocate for the time being." Esuntei stated. Next she instructed me to gather my things along with my family and loved ones.

Unfortunately Nubai had to remain with the other Guardians to oversee matter. Though she promised me that she and Jaxal would catch up then kissed my lips. Wishing all of us well as the vixen fulfilled her duties as we left the village behind us. Esuntei took the lead while the other knights had created a strong defensive perimeter. I couldn't hide my concern for everyone's well being including the clan leaders.

"Rest easy the villagers and clan leaders are well protected by the Guardians. Your concern for them is also on all of our minds as well so please keep moving." A Todd said. His name was Horei and if memory serves me he specializes in throwing weapons. It's hard to tell that considering the snake sword he wears proudly on his waist. Judging from it's almost brand new so I doubt it's actually seen combat.

As to my knowledge at least than again all of their gear looked untouched. Upon reaching the base of the mountains Esuntei stopped then looked around. She then began reciting what sounded like a spell but, the energy felt different. It was like she was blending magic and energy into some kind of special gateway. Sure enough this large portal appeared before the entire group then we entered.

Instantly transporting us to an unknown location but, Esuntei stayed behind. "I'll be leaving your training in the hands of the others sadly I'm needed elsewhere. Don't worry I'll be fine I want to make sure the innocents aren't being followed." She stated. Quickly closing the portal behind her leaving us to carry on without the vixen. Granted I didn't like it but, I knew she wouldn't do something overly dangerous.

"Orion, calm yourself this isn't the first time she's gone off on her own like that. The high priestess can handle herself so don't worry about she'll come back soon. In the meantime the temple is just up ahead and we should keep moving forward." Horei informed. Looking in the direction he pointed and saw what appeared to be a castle. As we got closer it looked more like a fortress instead of a temple like he mentioned.

The massive staircase was brutal and my poor mother couldn't make it alone. Scooping her up onto my shoulders where I proceeded to carry her up to the top. Roughly an hour later we reached the temple gates and as I set mom back down. I found myself staring in awe of massive castle-like shrine then I bowed respectfully. Kyuri and Renka followed suit before we even thought about stepping inside.

This was a truly ancient and sacred place therefore respect must be shown. My only problem with being here is how long will this sacred place remain safe. Considering I was at the Snowing Bark Cedar village for roughly a month's time. Once all my stuff was placed in my room I decided to scour ever inch of the shrine. Scanning this location taking note of its strengths along with any weaknesses.

After two and a half hours this place is solid as a rock but, I'm far from finished. "How smart of you to go looking around searching for potential weak points. The only way to gain access to this holy place is if your the high priest or priestess." Chiasa stated. Motioning me to follow her I leapt down off the wall I had been standing upon. Next I learned that this green and purple vixen would be my next instructor.

She was tasked by Esuntei to help me harness the kitsune sleeping within me. That was the ultimate goal but, first she had me eat something and get some sleep. Requiring that I be at full power for the training that lies ahead for this human. Considering what was going to happen once I've rested wasn't going to be pleasant. When I awoke a few hours later and the first thing I saw was Kyuri sleeping.

Though her presense wasn't the only one in the room Renka was nearby. More specially she was cuddled against my back with a smile while snoozing away. Not wanting to disturb them I slipped off the bed, got dressed and left the room. Chiasa was already waiting for me out in the main court yard with a training dummy. "I hope you're fully rested Orion, this manikin will be your opponent." She began.

"I want to see just how strong you are without using any special techniques. Once that's been established we'll move onto them and followed by energy pulses. From there we'll uncover a way to fully awaken the power that's inside of you. More than likely erase any false triggers, that's my plan at least so any questions?" Chiasa stated. My only question was what happens if my power awakens and I go on a rampage.

"Hmm, interesting with a power like yours it's next to impossible to stop you. Than again I doubt you'd unwillingly try to hurt anyone especially your loved ones." She countered. Horei appeared and wondered if it's would be alright to share his point of view. Figuring it couldn't hurt we granted male kitsune to say what was on his mind. "In my years power doesn't come in response to a desire but, a need." He revealed.

Before we could test his theory I soon sensed something ominous coming. Though the shrine's magical defense made it hard for me to pinpoint it's location. What I can tell that this darkness is in fact coming for me at a high rate of speed. Training was going to have to wait while I sounded the alert and a call to arms. All the Knights formed a perimeter luckily the barriers seemed to easily repelled them.

"Oh, don't worry about useless worms your troubles haven't even begun." A voice said. Turning in the exact direction of voice only to see a clone of the evil Kitsune. "You've gotten stronger human vermin the war will be upon your kind soon. Train all you want it won't do a damn bit of difference to what I have planned." Stark added. Once the dark clone delivered its master's message it vanished with the breeze.

Leaving the Knight's shocked that a mere clone got past the shrine's defenses. The warning it shared sparked something inside of me and the air began to crackle. My power level exploded then this golden aura turned the very day into night. Eyes glowing a rich violet color sadly the power was still beyond my abilities. It faded with the moment but, left me feeling drained thus causing me to faint.

When I regained consciousness the first thing I heard was a big water fountain. "Take it easy, Orion you experienced this strange and massive surge of power. I've seen a lot of strange and curious things but, never a thirteen tailed aura." Chiasa stated. Quickly asking the vixen to describe what she had seen or draw it for me. With a smile she told me that she'd do one better that's when she shape shifted.

Granting me a live look at what several people had claimed to have witnessed. Sadly she couldn't hold it for long but, it gave me something to strive to obtain. Now I had to find a need that would finally awaken all of my sleeping power. Moving away from the fountain then sat back down and fell into a meditative trance. Searching as deep into myself as I could safely go until I found some evidence.

Emotions vary in strength depending on just how much you express each one. Positive ones can always overshadow the negative but, seeking balance isn't easy. I've always kept my emotions in check during training or in the middle of a fight. Thus preventing myself from falling under the influence of mental warfare. However I need to utilize them in order to create a key to unlock my real self.

First I need to locate the lock then a proper to key can be forged to unseal it. There's one thing I need to do before I do anything and that's consulting mom. As the clan mark on my upper left arm began to glow I reached out to my ancestors. "Yes, my child are you're in need of guidance come sit down and ask your questions." Masako said. To my shock I found myself sitting before the matriarch of the Leaf Clan itself.

Instantly I lowered my head in respect to her position until she touched me. "Thank you for bowing my child but, you called me so I'm at your service, dear." She smiled. Wondering her if she's ever seen or heard of a kitsune possessing thirteen tails. She looked off to the right while the vixen searched through her memories. While her nine silky yet, bushy tails swished and swayed curiously behind her.

"Hmm, you pose a very interesting question and sadly I don't have an answer." Masako replied. I knew of someone that could but, whether or not he can be reached is a problem. "Masako my birth mother's father left a journal with an ancient prophecy. It spoke of two worlds uniting and a kitsune in human form bringing peace." I said. She sat there mulling over my words then Masako suddenly vanished from sight.

Next this strange leaf storm kicked up forcing me to shield myself from it. To counteract it I created an air barrier around myself then threw my arms outward. Forcing the leaves to stop in mid-motion while sensing the presense of someone. Spinning to my feet only to come face to face with a very special person in my life. "Hello, Grandson you're looking well how's my daughter, your mother doing?" He asked.

To be continued.
