Phantogram - Chapter II
Marcus is given a choice by the stranger.
MARCUS AND IELOUAH were slightly shocked by the question. Sleavers were the most violent of thaumaturgical creatures. They were parasites whose diet consisted entirely of the memories of whatever unlucky individual who happens to have one. They had no idea what this draco wanted from them.
Marcus cleared his throat. “So..."
“Professor Larking Eliander," the draco responded.
“Professor Larking. What is it that you need from us?"
“Well," Larking said, “my colleagues and I have recently discovered an abnormally large Sleaver hive in the city of Mont. We believe that your device will be of use to us in studying said hive.”
Marcus had to sit down, take in all the information. A Sleaver hive has been discovered in Mont. Mont, his hometown, the place he had lived in most of his life up until his move to Chan-Tudor. And his machine will supposedly help everyone understand it. His machine...
“I’m sorry, Professor Larking, but I’m going to have to decline the offer. You see, the Phantogram, my device, isn’t complete. Insufficient funds and all.”
Larking stood up, took out a pen and paper, jotted down an address, and gave it to Marcus. “If you change your mind,” he said, “or need more funds, message us.” And with that, the blue draco left.
Marcus looked to Ielouah for his reaction, but he had already gone upstairs. Marcus pocketed the note and went downstairs, continuing the work on the Phantogram. Two floors above, Ielouah paced around the cluttered living room, thinking. He already knew that Marcus would contact them. That is just the way he is. He sighed. This machine was going to be the death of him.
Ielouah plopped onto an old chair.
Marcus stopped his work and took out the note, copying it down onto another sheet to send to them.
Outside, the first raindrops began to fall onto the streets of Chan-Tudor
