Earning Her Trust (Episode 1)
This is the start of a new series that was originally supposed to be one story, but I decided to expand it out to many stories. It features a human female named Danielle who meets a male rottweiler named Duke. A traumatic experience as a teenager left Danielle terrified of rottweilers, so Duke has to convince Danielle that he means her no harm.
NOTE: While there is no sex in this story, I am rating this as "adult" since there is adult dialogue and references to genitalia in the story. Later episodes in this series will feature sex.

About 15 years ago, at the age of 13, Danielle was on her way home from school in the afternoon...walking alone, just as she had always done since starting middle school. Her parents were concerned about Danielle walking home alone, but since school was only about six blocks away and it seemed to be a safe neighborhood, they allowed her to do it anyway. Besides, Danielle had been taught how to deal with strangers several times in the past and figured she could handle anyone who tried to get into her panties without her permission. Of course, this would only work in cases where she was approached by perverted men who wanted to take away Danielle's innocence, there were other things that were a threat that Danielle didn't know about.
About halfway between Danielle's house and the school, there was a house with a chain-link fence surrounding the front yard and a chain-link cage inside the fenced in perimeter. The owners of this house happened to have a large male rottweiler as a pet. Danielle knew nothing about this, since the house was not along the path she walked going to or coming from school. So, as she walked home that day in April, she was unaware that the rottweiler was roaming around in the neighborhood after its owners failed to lock the gate after their college-age son came home for a visit...and to ask his parents for money.
Danielle had just passed by the senior high school that she would be attending in a couple of years, now walking by the football field and its chain-link fence, when all of a sudden the rottweiler darted across the street, growling and barking while doing so. Danielle immediately dropped her books and clinged to the fence, climbing up as far as she could without touching the barbed wire on top. The rottweiler was focused on the human girl, still barking incessantly at her while showing its teeth and making Danielle cling to the fence for dear life. She thought that the dog was going to attack her, and it certainly seemed as if it would...until one of the dog's owners showed up in his pick-up truck and called the dog over.
"Killer...get yer ass over here now!", the owner shouted at the dog, immediately getting the dog's attention. As soon as the dog came to its owner, it was scolded by the elderly hillbilly owner. "You bad dog! Yer not s'possed to be goin' 'round chasin' after people!", he exclaimed while opening the passenger side door. "Now, get on up there!", he told the dog as it obeyed his order. Once the dog was inside, he shut the door to keep the dog in the vehicle, allowing Danielle to climb down from the fence.
"I'm sorry about what happened there, little lady. My idiot son left the damn gate open and Killer must've gotten out", the owner explained to Danielle in a calmer tone, assuring her that this was not intentional on his part. "Now, I better be gettin' ol' Killer back home and I suggest you do the same", he continued before Danielle quietly nodded, gathered her things, and ran faster than she ever did back home. She wanted nothing else to do with that dog.
Once home, Danielle told her mom and dad about how she was almost attacked by the rottweiler and from that point on it was decided that Danielle was not going to be walking to school alone any longer. Instead, she would start walking to and from school with her friends. From that moment on, Danielle was terrified of rottweilers. She would constantly check her surroundings whenever she walked to or from school and would bring along their family pet (a german shepherd named Ginger) for protection. Although the incident left Danielle terrified of rottweilers, she still loved dogs as a whole, and she trusted Ginger to keep her safe. Fortunately, there were no further incidents after that and around the time Danielle finished with high school the people who owned "Killer" had moved to Mississippi, taking their dog along with them.
As for Danielle, after college she also moved on from her hometown in suburban Chicago and moved into her own place in the largest city on all of Kapernia...Mason City. Mason City was considered the economic capitol of the United Island Colonies and had one of the largest population of Earth-born humans living within the city and its surrounding suburbs. She got a job working as a loan officer for the branch of Mason Island Financial located in the suburb of Marino Bay. She made a decent living there, but still lived alone, having a desire to find the right male for her and raise a family. She was more than willing to date Kapernians...in fact, Danielle had been approached by several Kapernians who were interested in her since she arrived. Although, it seemed as if these males were more interested in what was under her panties than her, so none of these relationships made it very far. She was well aware that Kapernians were naturally horny and while she didn't mind having sex for the sake of having sex on occasion, she was more interested in finding a life partner than just periodically having her "itch" scratched. Besides, that's what places like Screwtopia and the sex clubs were for.
Most of the time though, Danielle focused on her work, dealing with several clients that would come into the bank asking for a loan for various reasons. It wasn't the most thrilling job in the world for Danielle, but it paid fairly well and there was always a possibility that she could move up and maybe even get into the corporate offices in downtown Mason City someday. She didn't seem to have any problems dealing with clients, until one afternoon when one customer caused memories from Danielle's past to re-emerge.
Through the main lobby doors, a male rottweiler entered the bank, making his way to the line for the tellers. He was a large male, standing at about six and a half feet tall with a muscular build, wearing an all-white muscle shirt along with jean shorts. Around his neck, he had Kapernian Elite Guard "dog tags" around them, showing them off proudly as he had just recently graduated from the Mason City training academy. He had just received his 10,000 UIC Dollar graduation bonus and planned on putting most it away in a savings account. While he looked big and intimidating from the outside, he was generally a gentle and big-hearted individual. Ever since he was a pup, he had dreams of becoming a member of the Elite Guard and helping Kapernians everywhere. Whenever a battalion of the Elite Guard was not on active duty, it's officers were still active in their communities, serving as a combination of police officers and rescue personnel. Every Elite Guard officer was duty-bound to follow all of the Cardinal Rules of the Guard...to serve the public, to protect the innocent, and to uphold the law.
At that moment, his battalion was not on active duty, which meant he was free to serve the public as a freelance police officer, either helping local police departments, or using his authority as an Elite Guard officer to bring justice whenever it needed to be delivered...although even if he did apprehend a criminal, he'd still have to turn them over to the local authorities for proper treatment. He had high hopes for the future. He had visions of becoming a high-ranking officer in the future, getting a chance to serve as a judge...possibly even getting a chance to serve as a future Supreme Commander down the road. However, for the moment, he was simply a "rookie-class officer", it would take him years to move up the ranks.
While he was standing around in line, Danielle was in the loan department, going over some paperwork from a loan that she just closed on when she happened to peek over her cubicle and noticed the male rottweiler standing in line at the tellers. Immediately after seeing him, visions of the rottweiler to chased her started to come back. Remembering the growl of the uncontrolled dog as it chased her to that fence, making her fear for her life until she was rescued by the dog's owner. She soon cowered behind her cubicle, hoping to avoid all eye contact with the large and intimidating male, fearing what may happen to her if she did make eye contact. Luckily for her, he had no intention of taking out any loans today, and she soon put the thought out of her mind, returning to work as soon as a young fox couple came to her desk asking for a loan for their new house.
Weeks passed without any further incidents, Danielle could go about her business as usual without being reminded about that horrible incident when she was younger. However, as Spring came around and a lot of couples on Kapernia were starting new families, Danielle's past would once again rear its ugly head. Shortly after lunchtime in early May, the same male rottweiler had come over to the loan department, stopping by the main desk there to inquire about a loan for his first house...located across the street from Danielle's. The panda receptionist at the desk was well aware of this and was also aware that Danielle was single. She also knew that canids tended to bond well with humans, so she figured that Danielle would not only be able to help him with the loan, but she could also play "matchmaker" for the two of them. She called Danielle over to the desk, explaining that there was a client in need of a loan for a house.
Danielle immediately left her cubicle and made her way over to the desk, thinking that nothing would be out of the ordinary about this loan. It would be as simple as performing a credit check, then filling out paperwork, getting the loan approved, and all would be done. That is until she got close to the main desk and saw the very same rottweiler male who was in the bank several weeks before. Like before, he wore a muscle shirt and jean shorts, along with his "dog tags", standing by the desk waiting for Danielle to help him out. Meanwhile, Danielle started to have flashbacks once again, making her feel shaky all over as she froze in her tracks.
"Oh, there she is", the receptionist announced before turning towards Danielle and calling her over. Danielle knew she couldn't back out of helping a client, if she did she'd likely end up losing her job. So, very slowly and carefully, she approached as the large male rottweiler looked at Danielle and then looked at the receptionist.
"Is she alright, she seems a bit tense", he asked the receptionist calmly. The panda receptionist assured him that Danielle was probably just a bit nervous about being around a Kapernian his size.
"Oh, I see, I'll bet you don't get that many guys like me in here very often", he playfully answered back as Danielle finally reached the reception desk.
"Danielle, this is Mr. Robinson. He's here to apply for a loan so he can purchase his first house", the panda receptionist told Danielle in a cheery tone while the male rottweiler held out his hand to Danielle.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Miss", he told Danielle in a friendly manner as she got up enough courage to reach out and shake his hand, still not saying a word while doing so. He noticed that her palm was sweaty and she was visibly shaking, making him scratch his head a little. "If I didn't know any better, I'd say that she was afraid of me", he thought to himself, thinking that Danielle must've been an Earth-born human, since Kapernia-born humans did not behave like this around native Kapernians, especially canids.
"Listen, I don't know what it is about me that's making you feel so scared, but please don't be afraid. I'm just like any other Kapernian you've met since you've been here, I mean you no harm", he assured Danielle in a calm tone of voice as the receptionist also tried to help.
"Danielle, Mr. Robinson is a member of the Kapernian Elite Guard. He took an oath to serve the public and protect the innocent, and that includes you", she added as Danielle looked at the big rottweiler male and stared into his lime green eyes. She looked into his eyes for a few seconds, sensing that maybe he wasn't as scary as he seemed. Gradually, she calmed down some and shook it off.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be so rude to you. It's just that I had a bad experience with a rottweiler as a teenager back when I lived on Earth", Danielle admitted to both as Mr. Robinson sighed and reached out to touch her on the shoulder.
"It's alright...you're not the first one to get the wrong idea about rottweilers. Sure, we can be fiercely protective at times, but we're not soulless killers. In fact, ever since I was little I've always wanted to join the Elite Guard and help protect others", he mentioned calmly to Danielle.
Danielle seemed to relax a bit more, enough to where she felt as if she could do her job. "Please come along with me, Mr. Robinson", she told him in a polite manner while he followed her lead into her cubicle for the loan to be processed. She started to learn a bit more about him as the loan process went on. She learned that his first name was Duke and that he wasn't the first member of his family to serve in the Elite Guard. His father, uncle, grandfather, and two of his cousins also served (or were currently active) in the Elite Guard. Duke's family history was rich in protecting others from harm and giving a helping hand to those who needed it, and he was very proud to carry on that heritage. He also hoped that someday his future pups would honor the family history and serve Kapernia just like he was.
By now, the thoughts about the incident with "Killer" faded from Danielle's mind as she worked with Duke. She no longer saw the barking dog that chased her, she saw a Kapernian, friendly and honorable with hopes and dreams of his own. She could be around him without fearing for her safety. After several more minutes, Duke's credit report revealed that he was in good standing with the credit agencies and his 150,000 UIC Dollar loan was approved. He was grateful to Danielle and shook her hand again, this time with her putting more effort into shaking it back before he left her. Duke would soon have his new home and Danielle felt a little wiser after the experience, knowing that while Killer may have been mean to her, not all rottweilers were like that.
That evening, when Danielle returned home, she noticed that the house across the street from her that was up for sale had just been sold. It was a relatively modest house (for Kapernian standards), a single-level, 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom home. Generally, the kinds of Kapernians who bought houses like this were either just starting out with their independent lives, or had small families. She was a little bit curious to see who had bought the house, but she wouldn't know who it was until they moved in.
A few more days passed as Danielle continued to go to work, with everything seeming to be normal at her job. The only thing that was different was that every day when she got home there would be a moving van outside of the house that had just been sold, with movers putting in furniture or other things. Either that, or there was someone from the local cable company, hooking up cable TV and internet to the house. No one had moved into the house yet, but it appeared that they would be moving in pretty soon, especially considering that the "For Sale" sign that was in the front yard had been taken down.
It wouldn't be until Friday evening when Danielle returned home from work when she noticed a single black car in the driveway of the house, with the lights outside and inside the house on. "I guess the new neighbors are here", Danielle thought to herself as she got out of her car, feeling a bit curious. "Maybe I'll go over there and meet them", she thought curiously before walking across the street to meet her new neighbors. Considering the size of the house, Danielle figured it was probably a small family living there, maybe even just a couple who was either about to start one or who was expecting their first kids sometime soon.
Danielle went up to the front door and rang the doorbell, waiting by the door for several seconds as she got ready to meet her neighbor. The front door soon opened, and she was surprised to see a familiar face answer the door. "Hey, I remember you...you're the one who helped me buy this house!", Duke exclaimed in surprise, recognizing Danielle as she looked at him and felt a bit sheepish. She never expected to see Duke again, but she wasn't afraid of him like she was initially.
"Hello...I just wanted to stop by and see who had bought the house across from mine. I never expected that you'd be the one to buy it", Danielle explained to Duke as he looked at her, remembering what she had told him when they first met.
"I hope that you're not afraid of me still. I don't know what happened to make you so afraid of rottweilers in the first place, but I can assure you that I wouldn't even think about hurting anyone...at least not unless I absolutely had to", Duke explained.
Danielle was quick to respond to his statement. "No, no, no...don't be silly...I'm not afraid of you. It's just that I got the wrong idea about what rottweilers were really like from when I was chased by one several years ago", Danielle admitted. Suddenly, her initial reaction to Duke made sense to him.
"Anyway, would you like to come inside? I'd like to have a chance to get to know you better", Duke offered in a calm and polite manner, opening the door so Danielle could come in if she liked.
Danielle thought about it for a moment and agreed, walking into the house for the first time. Danielle expected to find Duke with his mate around, thinking that he couldn't possibly be living in a family house all by himself. Although, as she looked around, it didn't seem as if anyone else was home. "You have all this room, and yet you live by yourself?", Danielle asked Duke as he escorted her through the house before the two of them ended up in the living room.
Duke felt a bit sheepish and told Danielle more about him. "Yeah, I know...I just thought it was best to plan ahead, you know. I want to find a mate and have a family at some point in the future, so I figured that if I had my own place it would be a lot easier than living in the apartment I was in", Duke explained as Danielle sat down on a chair in the living room while Duke sat on his couch. The living room looked out across the street over at Danielle's single-story house (which also had three bedrooms and two bathrooms). In one corner of the living room was Duke's home theater set-up, complete with a 60-inch HDTV, a game console, stereo system, and all that stuff. On another wall, there was a wooden cabinet with glass doors, with all sorts of pictures, and other assorted Kapernian Elite Guard mementos inside of it.
Danielle got a little curious and went over to the cabinet to look at all the stuff. In all, there were six photos in the case, one of each of the members of Duke's family who was currently in, or had previously served in the Kapernian Elite Guard. Amongst the mementos in the case was something that Danielle recognized. It was the five-star shield badge worn by the Supreme Commander of the Elite Guard. She had seen this badge once before on TV when the current Supreme Commander held a press conference in full Elite Guard uniform.
Duke noticed Danielle's curiosity and came over to join her. "Yeah, that belonged to my great-grandfather", Duke explained to Danielle, referring to the Supreme Commander badge. "Ever since his days in the Elite Guard, we've all tried our best to follow in his footsteps, but none of us have ever been able to reach this level", Duke continued. In addition to the pictures and some badges, there were also a handful of newspaper clippings placed inside picture frames, ones that told about the things that Duke's family had done during their time in the Elite Guard. Duke's grandfather helped lead the Elite Guard in a battle to liberate the Rat Islands from insurgency some 75 years ago. Duke's father and uncle helped lead a major rebuilding and recovery effort after Super Hurricane Al devastated portions of Black Island and Flat Island back in the mid 1990's*, back when Duke was still a pup. From looking at these things, Danielle could tell that Duke was a noble individual and that his family had a history of doing good for Kapernia.
She turned to face Duke and took hold of both of his hands while looking at him, feeling a bit sheepish. "Listen, I want to apologize for how I reacted when I first saw you. I shouldn't have been so quick to judge you just because you're a rottweiler", Danielle explained, still feeling guilty over being so fearful of him when they first met.
Duke understood how she felt and was somewhat used to her reaction. She wasn't the first human to have an initial fear over him. He figured it was just because of a reputation that non-anthro rottweilers had of being fierce and dangerous.
Soon, Danielle's general love for dogs started to kick in as she decided to take Duke into her arms and embraced him tightly, catching Duke by complete surprise. He didn't expect Danielle to hold him like this, but he didn't necessarily mind it. After all, it seemed as if she wanted to be his friend, so he placed his arms around her upper body and snuggled her to it. However, as Duke was holding Danielle in his arms, he noticed his body reacting to the touch of a female. Inside his pants, his canid penis was starting to emerge from its sheath, growing longer and stiffer as it had been aroused by Danielle's warmth. "Oh God...not now!", Duke thought to himself nervously, aware that he was getting a boner for the human female and feeling a bit fearful of how she would react to it if she knew. Kapernians were known to have strong sex drives and the slightest amount of affection could potentially arouse a male like Duke.
He wasn't sure of what to do. On one hand, he seemed to like Danielle and it seemed that now that she knew him a bit better she liked him. Then again, it was obvious that Danielle was an Earth-born human, meaning that she might not be as interested in sex with a Kapernian as a Kapernia-born human might be. He also figured that sex probably wasn't as big of a desire in her life as it was in his. He had places he could go to 'scratch his itch', but if he were going to consider doing it with Danielle, he wanted to make sure it was because she thought of him as more than a friend.
As for Danielle, she hadn't noticed Duke's growing erection yet. She was more interested in holding onto Duke in her arms, feeling the warmth of his body against hers while she started to have thoughts of her own. In the past, when Danielle got curious about sex with Kapernians, she would pair up with a canid male at a sex club to see what it was like. She had experiences with foxes and wolves, but never with a male rottweiler. The first couple of times she had sex with a canid male, it was a bit difficult to get used to the difference in the male's reproductive anatomy. However, after several trips, she got used to it and she felt that if she were going to have a serious relationship with a Kapernian, she wanted it to be with a canid male. It was about this time when Danielle finally noticed Duke's bulge as his maleness reached full arousal.
She looked up at him with her blue eyes curiously looking into his green eyes, still embracing Duke in her arms. "Hey...are you attracted to me?", she asked curiously as Duke let go of Danielle immediately and started to sweat a bit.
"Listen, I'm sorry about that. I was trying to behave myself, but sometimes my body has other ideas. I didn't mean to make you feel uncomfortable", Duke sheepishly explained, thinking that he offended Danielle.
From the way he reacted to her question, Danielle figured that Duke's words were sincere. It didn't seem as if he was just trying to get into her panties, he was just happy to be around her. "Well, I didn't say that I felt uncomfortable about it. I've been around plenty of Kapernian males and I know how you can be at times", Danielle explained to him. "Although, I am curious about how you really feel about me. Do you see me as a playmate, or do you want something more than that?", Danielle asked a few moments later.
Duke wasn't sure how to respond to Danielle's question. On one hand, he wanted to find a mate, but on the other hand he didn't know if she would be seriously interested in him, especially considering how she behaved when they first met. He certainly didn't see her as just a playmate, but he wanted to make sure she was comfortable around him.
"Are you sure that you'd be interested in dating me? I mean, you seem nice enough and I have nothing against dating a human. However, I just don't want you to feel uncomfortable around me. I don't want to cause whatever made you afraid of me in the first place to come back", Duke explained as Danielle looked into his eyes and placed on of her hands to the side of his nuzzle.
"Don't be silly...I trust you. Besides, I've always liked dogs...though back when I was a girl I never expected to be in a relationship with one", Danielle told Duke softly. "You seem like you're a gentle enough soul, and I can tell that you like me. So, I'm willing to give you a chance if you want to", she continued as Duke looked down at Danielle, touched a hand lightly to her cheek, and smiled.
"I promise that I'll do my best to make you feel happy", Duke calmly told Danielle before the couple embraced some more and Duke calmed down a bit. His erection kept throbbing from inside his pants, but he was able to keep his sex drive in check for the time-being. He figured it would take some time before Danielle would be ready for that, and he figured he could just wait until later to do something about it when she wasn't around.
Eventually, Duke decided that he should ask Danielle out on a date. "Hey...are you busy tomorrow night?", Duke asked Danielle as they held each other in the living room.
Danielle looked up at Duke again, still embracing his upper body and answered his question. "No, I'm not...did you want to go somewhere with me?", Danielle asked, thinking that he was going to ask her out.
Duke looked down towards Danielle and nodded. "Yes...I was wondering if you'd like to go out to dinner, and maybe take a walk along the Marino Bay boardwalk afterwards", he answered.
Danielle had never been out onto the boardwalk before, but was a bit curious to do so. It would've been better to do it in the morning when the sun came up, but there would be a lot more to do there at night. "Sure...we can do that. How about I come over to your place around 6 PM tomorrow and we'll go from there", Danielle suggested.
"That sounds fine by me", Duke answered back as the couple hugged a little more before Duke let Danielle go. "Anyway, I suppose I should let you get back to what you were doing before you came over to see me. Besides, I've got some things I need to take care of as well. I'll see you tomorrow evening, OK?", Duke explained to Danielle after they let go of each other as she nodded. Danielle thought that one of the things Duke needed to "take care of" was that bulge inside his pants that was created while they were hugging. However, she didn't suggest that out loud. Besides, he seemed like he was being sincere to her, so she didn't mind it if he got a little attracted to her sexually...as long as he behaved himself.
Instead, Danielle left Duke's house and crossed the street, returning home a few moments later. She soon got into the shower, washed up a bit and then got into bed, falling asleep for the night. While she slept, she did have thoughts about Duke and what it might be like to have him sharing the same bed with her at some point. She would've liked to have a warm and cuddly Kapernian male to come home to, to snuggle with and to be held, especially when it got cold. She didn't like sleeping alone and she hoped that she wouldn't have to for much longer.
End of Episode 1
*: Because there are Earth-born humans living on Kapernia and since Kapernia's length of day and length of year are very similar to that of Earth, The Kapernian Global Council (the planet's equivalent of the U.N.) decided to adopt the Earth calendar to keep things consistent with their "sister planet".
