Thomas explores the Alola region, even having a meeting one of the legendary guardians and getting some unexpected new friends.

I woke up bright and early, opening the curtains to see the sun beginning to shine. Looking into the sky I could see several new Pokemon, the Pokedex identified them as Pikipek a Normal and Flying type as well as, Cutiefly a Fairy and Bug Type Pokemon.

At that I got ready and headed to the living room, where I noticed Professor Kukui and a unknown women, who I didn't see yesterday. She was also carrying a baby in her arms. "Oh you must be Thomas, my name is Professor Burnet, I'm married to Kukui" at that she glanced down at the young boy in her hands, "and this here is our child, Lei, it's very nice to meet you."

I smiled, "it's wonderful to meet new faces and I thank you and your husband for allowing me to stay here temporarily." However, Burnet shook her head, "it was no problem, it was almost like having Ash here a few months ago." At that I was slightly surprised, I hadn't known that Ash had been in the Alola region, 'well, I guess he does get around.' "I know of Ash, he and I both come from Pallet Town." At that Kukui also walked into the room, "well isn't this a small world we live in." He sat down before a large group of Pokemon strolled into the room, before they noticed me and stared at me in confusion. "Oh yes, this here is Ash's Alolan team, meet the team of the Alola champion." He then gestured towards me, "and this here is Thomas, he's a friend of Professor Oak and Ash, he's here exploring Alola."

At that the Pokemon charged towards me, giving me absolutely no time to react, before I was bombarded towards the ground, with several excited Pokemon hugging me, after some struggling, the Pokemon released me and I decided to see what Pokemon they were, as I was unfamiliar with the Pokemon of Alola. The first one was a Incineroar, the final evolved form of Litten and one of the starter Pokemon you can receive in the Alola region. A Fire and Dark type as well, it looked quite strong, giving me a fierce look of confidence. Ash also had a Rowlet, a Grass and Flying Type and another starter Pokemon of Alola. The third was a Lycanroc, a pure Rock type Pokemon, which appeared rather energetic. The final Pokemon was so unique in appearance, that one may of mistaken it for a otherworldly Pokemon. The Pokedex identified it as a Melmetal, considered a mythical Pokemon, due to the rarity of the species and was the evolved form of Meltan. It was a pure Steel type Pokemon as well.

"They all appear rather strong, however, shouldn't they be with Ash?" I asked curiously, however, Kukui shook his head, "Ash is currently, travelling the world, on a new journey, he's even exploring Galar as well." That unfortunately didn't surprise me, however, I didn't have the heart to tell them, nor, more importantly the Alolan Pokemon that it was likely that Ash would never really bring them back for battling, even if he was now considered the Alolan champion.

At that I decided I was going to head on out and thanked Kukui and Burnet for allowing me to stay, but mentioned that I would be heading out to explore the Alolan region and seeing as many Pokemon as I could.

After leaving the laboratory, I noticed a wide variety of Pokemon immediately, from Slowpoke, to Wingull, to even a Charjabug. After heading towards the nearest city, that being Hau'oli City, I noticed how large the city was and boy was the city bustling, not just with people, but Pokemon were everywhere. I spotted a Pokemon which seemed to resemble a Grimer, however the colouration was completely different. The Pokedex helpfully identified it as a Alolan variant Grimer, which was both a Poison and Dark type Pokemon due to the area in which this Grimer resided in.

Heading out of the city, up to route 2, I noticed several berry trees around the route, it seemed as though occasionally the berries were rustling around, as if something were in amongst the berries and was gathering them. I decided to take a closer look and see what might be behind the movement, when suddenly a Pokemon burst out of the berries and began snarling viciously towards me, the Pokedex identified it as a Yungoos that was attempting to eat the berries.

"Look, there's no reason to be so aggressive, I wasn't planning on taking the berries..." however, I was halted in my words when the Yungoos jumped towards me, snarling, before realising I hadn't brought my Pokemon translator with me, as a way of exploring a region without any assistance. "Come out Lucario" Lucario appeared staring down the suddenly silent Yungoos and with a simple growl the Yungoos shrieked and disappeared into the grass and never reappeared again.

Lucario stared in the area in which the Yungoos ran and shook his head still growling to himself, before turning to me, "I may have forgotten my translator" Lucario sighed smiling before nodding his head probably already knowing that.

However, I suddenly felt as though I was being watched, however, I didn't feel threatened nor did I feel scared. Lucario who I was about to return immediately sensed a presence and snarled towards a unknown Pokemon. It levitated and was yellow and distinct in appearance and surprisingly it allowed me to scan it with my Pokedex and I identified it as Tapu Koko a legendary Pokemon off the Alola region.

It approached me, silently, unwaveringly before it shooted forwards almost knocking me off my feet at the sudden speed, before pointing towards Lucario and made a challenging position, assuming a battle stance. "How about it Lucario, want to have a battle with a legendary Pokemon?" At that Lucario smirked and faced Tapu Koko. After a moment Tapu Koko slammed into the ground creating an electric field, "huh it used Electric Terrain, Electric Type moves will be powered up now, so be careful Lucario."

Lucario nodded, before grunting, "use Aura Sphere" I commanded and immediately Lucario charged and Aura Sphere which scored a direct hit against Tapu Koko, however, it shook off the move and made a move of it's own. Suddenly, using Discharge, "use Aura Sphere once again and counter that." The two moves collided creating a plume of smoke, before neither move prevailed.

Seeing that, Tapu Koko upped the game and slammed a fist into the ground, creating a massive spike of energy, quickly commanding Lucario to dodge, the Pokedex identified the move as Natures Madness a devastating attack. Unfortunately the attack had such a large area, it managed to hit Lucario, who fell to the ground slightly winded, however, he immediately stood up.

"You okay?" I asked Lucario, who remained focused on Tapu Koko, but threw his paw up towards me, letting me know he was doing well. At that moment, I decided that Tapu Koko was too powerful but there may be a method off defeating such a powerful Pokemon. I placed my wrist out and tapped the mega ring, which connected with Lucario's mega stone, "mega evolve Lucario" I announced as strings of light connected us, eventually revealing a new powerful Lucario.

Tapu Koko did appear slightly shocked, before seemingly smirking at the new opponent that faced him. Tapu Koko attacked with a Discharge, "Lucario, counter that with Flash Cannon!" Lucario, launched the Flash Cannon right at the incoming Discharge and the moves collided centerfield. "Lucario, can you see where Tapu Koko is with your aura?" Lucario smirked, giving us a slight advantage, "rush in and use Close Combat" at that mega Lucario charged through the smoke and right towards Tapu Koko and began rapidily punching and kicking the legendary guardian.

However, even if the move made contact, I knew that Tapu Koko had a advantage as most of Lucario's moves weren't very effective against a Electric and Fairy type Pokemon. I think Tapu Koko realised that as well and unleashed Dazzling Gleam which smashed straight into Lucario and sent him plummeting in the ground.

At that I called the battle off, it was clear that Tapu Koko was just too powerful for my team to take on. "Return Lucario, you battled really well, it just means we need more training." However, before I could leave the guardian approached and seemed slightly wounded, several bruises and scratches covered the guardian, proving that Lucario had managed to do more damage than previously thought.

"Oh, of course your injured, wait right there please" I asked the legendary who remained motionless, before I found a Hyper Potion which would fully heal the legendary. After spraying the potion on Tapu Koko, he puffed up and suddenly motioned towards my camera and gestured towards the camera and to him repeatedly.

"Wait, are you saying you want me to take your photo?" at that Tapu Koko nodded and so I took a photo of the legendary standing proud. After the photo was taken, I showed Tapu Koko who seemed to approve of the photo and made distance towards the brush.

After that sudden encounter, I decided to continue exploring Melemele Island, I came to a stop at the sea and I must admit that the oceans surrounding the Alola region looked completely magnificent. The waters sparkled with warmth and many Pokemon and people were swimming in the oceans enjoying their tranquillity.

A short boat ride and I soon arrived at the next island on my trip, that was called Akala Island, after exploring I came across a new Pokemon, that the Pokedex identified as a Mudbray, a pure Ground Type Pokemon. However, the Mudbray appeared to be injured, covered in bruises. As I approached Mudbray, immediately darted away, only getting so far before collapsing in sudden pain.

I knew that it was unlikely that Mudbray would allow me to approach, unless I somehow managed to convince the Pokemon that I was a friend and not an enemy. As such, I had the perfect partner for the job. "Come out Venusaur" when Venusaur materialised, I pointed towards the injured Mudbray, "I need you to convince that Mudbray to accept my help, it currently doesn't trust me enough, can you see if you can help?"

At that Venusaur hobbled slowly towards the wary Mudbray, who seemed close to running away, however, upon seeing the friendly and calm expression on the Venusaur's face he immediately stayed still to find out what he wanted. After a brief discussion, with Venusaur pointing his vines towards me, the Mudbray nodded and allowed me to approach.

Thanks to a couple of potions, the Mudbray was fully healed and seemed excited to be well again, to the point where it wouldn't leave me alone. I had attempted to usher the Pokemon back towards the safety of the trees however, Venusaur, ever the helpful Pokemon used his vines to give me a Pokeball.

At that I grabbed the Pokeball before asking the Mudbray, "you want me to capture you?" At that the Mudbray nodded jumping up and down almost knocking me over several times, and so, I threw the Pokeball towards the still Mudbray and managed to successfully catch the Mudbray. That gave me a total of six Pokemon. I almost felt like a proper trainer almost.

To help build a bond between me and Mudbray, I allowed Mudbray to walk alongside me outside of his Pokeball, so that he and I could understand one another. The Pokedex told me that Mudbray knew the moves, Bulldoze, Double Kick, Stomp and Bide, several helpful moves for a beginning Pokemon.

Along the way Mudbray proved to enjoy Pokemon battles and battled several ranch workers Pokemon, specifically their Tauros and Miltank. Mudbray, showed excitement when defeating the Normal type Pokemon without much effort, proving he was a uniquely powerful Pokemon, which was always nice to have when travelling an unknown region.

I continued exploring Akala Island and noted that the island seemed to have more habitats than what Melemele Island had, for example, there was a lake, called Brooklet Hill, filled with a wide variety of Water type Pokemon, even a totem Pokemon that the locals new off. In the distance there was a volcano, surrounded with a large amount of Fire Type Pokemon, who enjoyed the heat that the volcano provided. Finally there was a jungle inhabited with lots of Grass Type Pokemon, showing great infrastructure towards the islands ecosystem.

Mudbray, wasn't too fond of Brooklet Hill, the Water Type Pokemon after all had a advantage over him, however the occasional Psyduck or Poliwag that attacked him, proved to be to weak against Mudbray's Bulldoze. The Wela Volcano Park as it were called, was much better for Mudbray, the Fire Types dared not attack, though, it was nice to see the occasional Kangaskhan raising their children in the safety of a place not many people explored. the Lush Jungle, however, was something that Mudbray rather disliked, many of the Grass Types caused many difficulties towards him, however, he persevered and defeated his opponents, surprisingly without any assistance from my other Pokemon.

Those were the main areas of interest for Akala Island and so I made my way to the next Island which was, Ula'Ula Island. the main area of interest on Ula'Ula Island was the Hokulani Observatory, many Electric and Steel Type Pokemon lived in the area, likely thanks to the electricity around the area.

Thrifty Megamart had some history, thanks to a destroyed and abandoned megamart which was built without the guardian deities permission and as such, Tapu Bulu destroyed the megamart. Now it remained as a reminder and a place where Ghost Pokemon thrived. I myself, did find Ghost Pokemon slightly spooky, with how unpredictable they were. When exploring, a few Gastly and Haunter appeared out of thin air and attempted to scare both me and Mudbray. I was the one who found the experience more terrifying, while Mudbray considered the Ghost Pokemon mere annoyances ruining the experience.

The final Island was Poni island and what immediately shocked me was the population of Poni Island, not many People lived here either. The main area that interested me was the Vast Poni Canyon, in other regions, I'd never really come across, something so vast and teeming with life. Several caves and mountains yes, but a canyon? Not really. There were several different floors in the canyon, which made it slightly difficult to navigate.

However, Mudbray, had been getting far more powerful through my visit around the islands of Alola, to the point where he was showing signs of evolving, though wasn't quite their yet. Upon reaching the top, I was slightly exhausted however, Mudbray wanted to keep on going, he seemed to have a lot of stamina.

When suddenly, I could hear shouting and the sounds of a battle, it didn't sound like a trainers battle due to there being no human voices, so I decided to go and have a look. Followed closely by Mudbray, I observed, several Pokemon fighting against one smaller Pokemon. A group of Murkrow had been attacking a Jangmo-o which was doing it's best to fight against the group, however, there were too many and the Jangmo-o seemed to be exhausting itself.

Mudbray immediately darted towards the Murkrow and hit three of them with a rapid amount of Double Kicks, before turning towards a couple of more and scoring a direct hit with a Heavy Slam. However, when the Murkrow were defeated a loudred cry appeared above me and upon looking upwards, I noticed a Honchkrow looking annoyed at the Murkrow that were unconscious. The Honchkrow immediately looked towards Mudbray and fired a Dark Pulse which scored a direct hit against Mudbray who had been attempting to protect the Jangmo-o.

As the smoke cleared, Mudbray had begun glowing and had been rapidly increasing in size, when the evolution stopped, the Pokedex identified that my Mudbray had evolved into a Mudsdale, which now knew the moves off, Counter, Earthquake, Iron Defence and Superpower.

The newly evolved Mudsdale glared at the Honchkrow who shrunk back in shock, before charging with what looked like Steel Wing, "use Counter" at that Mudsdale glowed stopping Counter and knocking Honchkrow unconscious with double the power of Steel Wing. Almost immediately the Honchkrow and Murkrow fled the scene in a panic and I knew they likely wouldn't return for some time.

I had almost forgotten about the Jangmo-o however, I saw that the small Dragon Type, was right below me, it gestured for a fight with me, which surprised me, "your injured, your in no shape for a fight." However, the little Dragon Type was having none of it and charged towards Mudsdale with a Headbut, however, Mudsdale, took the hit without even flinching and retaliated with a Earthquake, which forced Jangmo-o to yield.

At that the Jangmo-o waited and waited for a surprisingly long time, before I wondered whether it too wanted to be captured and so, I grabbed the Pokeball and asked, "do you want to tag along with me?" At that the Jangmo-o nodded before headbutting the ball and getting captured. I stared dumbfounded at the ball, before it disappeared, back to Professor Oak's laboratory, since I already had six Pokemon currently on me.

At that I decided I would head back towards Professor Oak's laboratory and continue my duties there, after all, there were likely several more Pokemon there waiting for training or more likely something more intimate.

If there are any more Pokemon you wish to see in the next chapter(s) getting a turn with Thomas, please comment below
