Ah New York City, a place of history and a place where I don't have that many memories of back on the Earth I am from outside of some school trips... a place I don't like at all. Too noisy and cramped for my taste and lacks a charm compared to the European locations I have been to, as outside of the Liberty Statue, Ellis Island and a few other land marks, the city to me lacks a soul especially since it's claimed by the dirt and grime, add this to the boring architecture and it's a wonder why anyone would want to be in this mountain of bricks.

Looking out of the side of the chinook, I smile at the Statue of Liberty and it's teal appearance due to it's reacted copper exterior, I give a sigh and go over to a small workstation to prepare a drum magazine for my akm.

Carmelita comes over to me "About half the city has been searched so far and nothing has been found, thankfully being Interpol we can press a little." giving a wink at the end.

I pop the clips on the back of the magazine "I'm willing to bet our target is either on Ellis Island or the Statue of Liberty.", I wind the follower all the way back and begin to load the 7.62x39mm rounds "Thankfully the others will be tackling Ellis Island while we take the statue." finishing in loading the rounds, I seal the back and wind the key on the back of the drum.

Ruby comes to my left, wearing a kevlar vest "Never thought I would be on the side of something like this." with a grin "Thank you for giving me this chance."

The vixen comes around me "To be fair, I never thought such a thing would happen either.", she looks to me as I load the drum into the assault rifle and charge the akm "But Adam has a way it seems." with a smirk.

I give her a playful nod "Alright, this is it. We pull this off, we end what ever is taking place. Our objective to to either secure the prototype and anything related to it... or to destroy it all.", I open comms with Bently "Team Shellshock, are you in position?"

I hear back "We read you loud and clear Team Panzerwolf, we are ready on your go."

The teams are simple with Carmelita, Ruby and myself making up Team Panzerwolf while Bently, Murray and Panda King make up Shellshock, as for Penelope I've assigned her to a modified MH-53 for logistical and real time support, if that prototype launches we'll need her to track it.

I give the order for them to begin their mission as we make our final approach to the Statue of Liberty, the twin rotor lands and we disembark, Carmelita and myself carrying our standard loadout while Ruby is carrying a ptrs-41 on her back as she thinks I may need it. We begin to make our way towards the monument as United States security rushes towards us but a quick flash of the badge shuts them up, true I'm not a fan of unexpected arrivals either but with a quick debrief they understand the situation and understand that it's best to keep the alert low as we confirm that the security on Ellis Island is also brought up to speed through heavily encrypted communications.

The outside of the island we are on is clear and so we begin to make our way to the base of the statue, suddenly I see something shine for a brief moment, I glance to the security guards and I hear a faint click... similar to the toggle of a firearm safety switch. My gaze goes to Carmelita and Ruby, using my pointer I send orders to both by lightly tapping on the side of the akm, after I send my silent words I begin a countdown from ten.

'Paradox paid you off... in doing so you just signed your death warrants!'

Finally I reach the end of the countdown, the three of us quickly dive for cover as Carmelita and I open fire on the security guards around us as what is clearly an m2hb opens up on us but no bullets land near us, I look and see Ruby's hands glowing and we're being protected by some kind of energy barrier, I give the order to advance and we move up, the heavy bullets being absorbed or being deflected by the magical shield. We find a way in and after a quick 40mm grenade we finally get inside... and good thing this firearm has a burst fire mode as we start to get fired upon from basically everywhere. Submachine guns, shotguns all kinds of rifles... we hit the hornets nest on this, now it's confirmed the prototype is here and that these guys were more then willing to destroy us.

I pull of the trigger shows my drum has run it's course "Damn it!", I exchange the mag and open my comm "Penelope, we're engaged against enemy resistance!"

"I read ya Adam, there's nothing I can do on my end which means they are on a separate network. It will take time but I think I can find a backdoor."

A gunmen comes around the corner but I bring him down with a quick burst "There's no time for a work around, get the predator drone over our way and commence bombardment, one bomb per section should do the trick."

"You want high explosives to hit just above your head?!"

I fire a quick spray "The base is designed to handle explosive attacks to a degree, a few bombs that a predator carries won't do too much damage.", a load of buckshot just barely misses me by digging to the nearby wall "It's either the predator drone or I give a fallback order and bring this whole place down with an ac-130!"

Ruby and Carmelita become instantly surprised by my words, normally I wouldn't even think of destroying a monument just to complete a mission, much less one from my own country. But for all I know we are now really on a time limit and I was tired of being just one step behind them, if Paradox is planning on weaponizing the tech in the prototype then this was our only real chance at putting a stop to it and it was what we were going to do, but now I'm not sure what I was afraid of more... the prototype being in the wrong hands and kick-starting a new arms race... or being okay with destroying Liberty Island. Penelope confirms that the predator is inbound and the three of us get into some solid cover and a few minutes later explosions rock throughout the area as dust emerges from the vents where the enemy is dug in, I give the order for search and destroy and we smash into the enemy ranks, bullet casings fly everywhere as electrical blasts zoom through the dust and magical zaps join in, I quickly run out for the akm and pick up a fallen m4a1 with some ammunition, sweeping room by room one section at a time.

Bently contacts me "Adam, we've combed over Ellis Island and there is no sign that anything is amiss. We are en route to your location now."

The m4 jams, I slap it to clear the jam "Affirmative, be advised enemy forces are entrenched." a few bullets land near me "Penelope says that they seem to be using another network, I need you to locate an access point and try to figure out the extent of this place, we need to figure this island out and fast!"

"Copy that, performing counter-operation."

I fire a few more rounds before the m4 jams again, I ditch the assault rifle "Piece of junk!" as I pick up a nearby ump45 with some magazines for it "We are holding here for now, no heroics!"

Bently and his team disembark on the back of Liberty Island, the sound of gunfire getting their attention instantly as the dust choked structure sends out smoke. It's all really something to take in, while not as chaotic as the battles back in China it is no less intense, but they can't focus on the fighting and have to go with finding a way into the isolated network.

Panda King eyes the ruined platform "We should aid our allies in their struggle!"

Murray pounds his fists together "Yeah, we need to back them up!" with a determined grin.

Bently gives a sigh "I know, but they can handle themselves, the best thing we can do is find that network and see exactly what we are dealing with.", he looks all over the structure and sees that on upper portion of the statues stand looks like a tall antenna "It looks like they have something up there!"

Bently leads his team up the side of the structure as he uses grappling hooks to help his group get up the flat concrete. They get to the top ledge and see a what looks like a post in camouflage that matches the roof, there are no machine guns but there are a few guards standing ready and armed with shotguns. Bently looks to Panda King and nods, the panda leaps up and launches a barrage of explosives all over the post, he flings flames from his hands which strikes the few guards that run out while the rest surrender. Team Shellshock ties up the surrendering guards and Bently gains access to a terminal and links the second system to theirs via a quick sync.

The turtle quickly looks at the system and sees the camera footage inside with Adam's team holding out fairly well but also finds control code for something else.

Bently opens comms with the human "Panzerwolf do you read?"

I reload the submachine gun with it's last mag "Loud and clear, please tell me you have good news!" and begin to fire bullets down the halls.

"I do, the network is tied to various sub-systems that aren't booted up yet and systems that are still idle. Based on what I am seeing there is a base of operations underneath us. I'm going to get a few of these systems online to help us out and learn how this place is set up. Stand by."

A barrage of bullets come our way "Whatever you are going to do Bently do it fast! We can't hold out at this rate.", I go to aim but a bullet strikes the smg and blows it apart, I grip my right wrist as I snap to cover, a pulse of shock going through the nerves as my hand shakes "BLAST IT ALL!!!"

A few minutes pass as I manage to get my hands on a shotgun and fire a few shells, but I can easily see we're flat-lining here, I prepare to give the order to withdraw but I hear this whir coming from somewhere, from the ceiling this drone comes flying down and it's armed with an under-slung m249 with a decent-sized box of ammo, it flies around us as it's joined by several others and begin to open fire on the enemy forces, the sheer volume of sound is just insane as it's rapid and loud at first but quickly die down to almost nothing. I ditch the shotgun and grab a nearby m4a1 as we step out, several of the drones are shot down but most are still hovering around.

The turtles voice comes through my comm "Area is clear!" followed by Penelope "Excellent! It took a little but finding those data-packets really helped out! I'm cracking the firewalls now, I should have full control in twenty seconds."

I look at the drones and I notice that not all of them all complete as some of them have armor around the m249 and others don't, some are finished in an armor shell to no armor at all with a few not even having their means of attack at all. If the drones are in this state along with the security systems then this operation here must still be fairly new... Penelope confirms that the alarm systems haven't been set up yet, so there is a chance that we can still catch them off guard which I completely doubt given we shook the place up, but it's still worth a shot. Bently and Penelope gain full control of the systems and what they tell me is incredible as they managed to build a base of operations under the monument, under their direction we find a freight elevator that according to them will take us to where we need to go.

The elevator begins it's decent and we make ourselves ready, we make it to what looks like some kind of loading area and we slowly begin to look around, the sound of machinery slowly becoming more pronounced. We make it to what looks like an overlook of a hanger and we see the prototype on some kind of launch pad... there it is, what we have been after all this time!

I pull out my binocucom and start to look around "Bently, Penelope... are you guys getting this?" as I see both of them in the corners of the lens.

Penelope does some typing "That's the machine, no question about it."

The turtle chimes in "Based on what we can see and what I can make of the time table, the shuttle is primed for launch as I am picking up traces of hydrogen and evidence of fusion taking place."

I blink "They are getting ready to deploy it!"

Penelope does some typing "The code sequence hasn't been activated for the launcher or doors, but the craft is ready for launch. Though they will do so according to this in ten minutes."

I put my gadget away and the two begin to guide us again, we don't have time to mess around now, we storm from hall to hall, we turn a corner and we see Muggshot standing there with a grin as he gives a puff on a cigar.

The bulldog laughs "You made good time, I wasn't expecting you to make it past the boys upstairs, but hey it just means more fun for me.", he looks to Ruby "So you joined the fuzz eh? I knew you were creepy and I can respect that, but being with these two paints a bad image."

Ruby raises an eyebrow "Let us pass you mutt! These two need to stop what is taking place and have given me a second chance, if you give up maybe they are willing to do the same for you."

The dog gives a chuckle "Please, between that runt and cop-hag alone I don't trust the badge, let alone the rest of them!", he pulls out his machine guns "So, who's first?!"

Ruby gives him a glare, she looks to me as she hands me the anti-tank rifle, I ditch the m4 as I nod, I take the large caliber weapon from her "Kick his tail Ruby." with a smirk.

The gator nods "Go and end this, I'll hold him here."

I get on the comms with Bently as Carmelita and I go running back down the central hall, with the only think being on my mind just how heavy this thing this.

Ruby and Muggshot stare down at each other as the gator raises her clawed digits with energy cascading around them while the mutt aims his machine guns at her. For both of them this is quite an occurrence, these two like the Panda King were part of the Fiendish Five, Ruby never thought she would be on the side she finds herself now, let alone that the Panda King had changed hands as well. Maybe this really was to help her find redemption and more importantly to try to start over, she and Muggshot never really saw eye to eye and like most of the group they were a part of they saw each other more as allies of convenience with the only one she really saw as an ally of real extent being Panda King.

Muggshot opens fire but Ruby puts a magical field up to protect herself, the dog ceases fire which the gator responds by sending her field against him, he crashes into a wall, he fires his weapons again but Ruby teleports to his left, she swings her mighty tail and flings him down the hall as his firearms clatter to the floor, Ruby swings her tail and destroys both of them which angers the mutt.

The gator smirks "No more custom guns for you, you always were a wannabe mobster!"

Muggshot gets up "I'll swat ya instead!" and charges her.

The mutt swings his right fist which Ruby blocks with her tail, the both recoil back from the shared impact, Muggshot swings his other fist which Ruby easily deflects but the dog goes shoulder first into her and smashes her into a wall.

Muggshot gives a grin of his own "Even with all that freaky magic, you still can't match me!"

Ruby gives him a glare and bites into his left arm, he yells out as she really clamps her jaw down, the mutt tries to throw her off but Ruby uses her tail as a counterweight and tosses him into the wall so hard the concrete wall caves in a little as it cracks clean through. Muggshot groans as he rolls on the ground a little, Ruby sends out a magic zap and knocks him out, she stands over him and glares down.

The gator sighs "Always such a small minded fool."

Carmelita and I are in the thick of the launch bay, my glock 18 blazing away alongside her shock pistol, these rats falling squad after squad, the last one drops just as the machine pistol runs out, I quickly reload the sidearm and we begin to make our way to the craft but the door opens up and we freeze as Paradox steps out.

The skunk smirks at us "Ah, finally the last horse crosses the finish line." as he claps his hands.

Carmelita and I aim our weapons at him, the vixen barking "You are under arrest, step away from the craft!"

Paradox glances to her at first but his gaze quickly goes to me "I must commend you, going across the world to recovery the tech of your world, it's actually kind of commendable."

"Why did you take it to begin with?! If you are using it as a weapon it just gives me more cause to stop you!" eager to pull the trigger, doing my best to keep my heart rate in check.

The skunk begins to laugh "I am not interested in turning it into a weapon system, I am more interested in the riches it could bring me. Imagine it, a whole other I can go to and steal it's wealth alongside this one! Two of every treasure and twice the payoff, with this machine it'll be child's play."

I raise an eyebrow 'He can't be series!', I sigh "There is no way you can possibly get away with doing that on my world, you would never be able to blend in, the machine will only get you so far!"

"Maybe so." the skunk brushes his hand through his hair "But now we must part ways! Farewell!"

He jumps back in as the door closes, our weapons not even leaving a mark as the doors open... he's not getting away this time! I ditch the glock and run towards the craft, I jump and land on top of the craft as it flies out. We leave Liberty Island as I secure myself onto it, I get to where I see a top hatch, I ready the anti-tank rifle and begin to fire from hip as I brace the massive gun, after three shots I get through, I open the hatch and jump into it with the weapon aiming over me, once I land I aim it at Paradox, he gives me a smirk as he activates the crafts drive.

I look to the drive behind us as it begins to hum while it glows a bright orange, I quickly grab onto a side rail as I look out a viewpoint, the craft envelopes itself in a membrane and enters a portal, after a quick transition we are back in the New York City from my Earth... and it's total chaos! These red and yellow raft are all over the place, firing on civilians as they sweep around, an ac-130 crashing through the back of the New Yorker building as it's shot down. There are these other craft that are white with blue parts zooming around and shooting them down, I guess those guys are on our side but it's such a bad situation as it looks like we are being exterminated. A look at Paradox showing he is just terrified at the sight before him, a shot down red fighter comes and barely misses us as it crashes into a highway while these blue humanoid mechs fire these pink beams at m1 abram tanks and just obliterating them in a single shot.

We fly through the city as I slowly make progress to him, I need to take control of the machine away from him, but then I hear something from the radio, some thing I wasn't expected at all...

"Attention everyone, we need to retreat to orbit now, all evacuation task units are to withdraw! We have large nuclear suicide drones inbound for a planet killer attack... Earth is lost, I repeat, Earth is lost!" the voice is exactly like mine which freezes me in place with pure shock while Paradox looks at me in confusion.

We look out and we see this massive ship as it breeches the atmosphere while the white craft depart, I look to Paradox "Get us back to where we were, now!"

The skunk quickly types a few commands into a terminal, the craft becomes enveloped once more and just as we warp the massive ship crash and unleashes a thermo explosion that begins to consume all before it. We exit and we're back in the New York City of anthros, I quickly aim the anti-tank rifle at the rear and fire the last two rounds, an alarm blares as Paradox screams at me, I brace and we smash into the ground, we roll across a few intersections and stop on the edge of a bridge.

I groan as I do my best to stand up, I look and I see a good chunk of metal going through my right leg, the skunk comes over and begins to strangle me, I quickly deliver a good punch and it sends him away, I look over and see a hydrogen fuel cell for the craft, I quickly yank it out, open the side door of the craft and begin to limp away as it hits me... the Earth I cam from... it's gone... all of it is gone!

I stop as I look back at the prototype, I glance to the fuel cell... I bang it against the road and back up, I can already feel the heat coming off of the ruptured cell as I yell for everyone to get clear and I through it at the prototype, it lands into the open door, I hear the skunk scream in despair as I try to get away as fast as possible. This massive explosion finally comes and sends me rolling into a cars windshield, I give another groan as I look to the sight of where the shuttle once was... the chase is finally over, but now... I have something I need to mourn. Eventually I get picked up by an ambulance and get taken to a barricade on the side of the bridge where everyone else is, their facial expressions changing as soon as they see me, at first to my wound but then to my tears.

Carmelita comes over "What happened hon? What's wrong?" as she puts a hand on my shoulder.

I blink as I look to her and the others "The Earth I am from... it's gone... just gone!", Carmelita let's me lean on her as I go on "The world was under attack by some kind of interstellar force and they used these large suicide craft to take the planet out in nuclear fire, there were these other starcraft that were protecting the world and while they obviously failed I can tell they gave it their best shot."

My friends and the crowd look to me in surprise as Carmelita sits me down while a medical team begins to treat my wound, I gasp from the pain "But that's not the weirdest part, I heard one of the pilots talking and... he sounded like me."

Carmelita blinks and she goes to say something but this purple energy suddenly claims the sky above us and this massive ship emerges, it's black like onyx with red jewels on it's surface in some spots with energy weapons adorning it, the massive vessel looks like something stright out of a sci-fi cartoon...

Seriously... what the hell is going on?!

The End
