Ch3: Moonlight flights and Lightning nights
Imported from SF2 with no description.
WOO! i managed to get another chapter out in less than a year XD
I tried something a little different, going for a little more character instead of dragon on human this time. By far, character building is not the easiest thing (shocker). don't worry, next chapter will have plenty of fun times~ I'm still going to label this as adult due to the content.
Please comment on what you liked, disliked, or if you just want to say hello~ i like knowing what works and what needs to be changed, so don't hesitate to let me know. still learning how to write cohesive stories, so your input is greatly appreciated since it helps keep me from going off on crazy tangents. Anyway, Enjoy Ch3~
It took Levian the rest of the day to get the bedroom cleaned. Eon did not know how he did it nor did he want to know, but an hour after the sky had darkened Levian came out and pronounced the bedroom clean. Eon had carefully inspected the room, finding only some small scratches on the ground and some new scratches along the walls. Probably from Levian’s playing around. Still, there was extraordinarily little that Eon could find, so he doubted the inspector would find anything either.
Though there was little that could be done about the smell. Eon had the window open to try and air out the room, but the room had a spicy and slightly musty scent to it. Eon did not mind the change in smell as much as he had thought he would. It was a rather calming scent now and made him feel relaxed and a little listless. Still, he tried to air it out as much as he could just in case something bad happened from inhaling too much. Thankfully, Levian’s load did not cover his clothes like he had feared.
After making sure that there were no lasting effects of Levian’s ‘play time’, Eon decided to grab some dinner and think over the day. Currently, Eon sat at the table in the living room eating a bowl of reheated noodles. He leaned back with a sigh. What. A. Day. First he had woken up and scared himself thinking there was school, then he fainted from finding that there were dragons in his apartment…that he had invited while he had been drunk…and then proceeded to have sex with the smallest male while the largest one jacked off in his bedroom. All in one day. Eon ran his hand along his forehead, tracing his hairline. He rubbed along his ear and pulled his hand back when one of the little horns poked him. Oh yeah, and he had a pair of dragon ears now.
The other four were sitting around the apartment. Levian was lounging on the couch, lightly snoring after cleaning up the room. His feathers were catching the light and shining slightly, giving Eon a nice violet pool of purple color to gaze into. Skree was currently investigating the upper part of the cabinets, the smaller fur wyvern using his claws to open the cabinets and investigate the sparse glassware that Eon possessed. So far, nothing had fallen yet, but Eon was still waiting for the sound of something falling. Lyra and Kira were lying about the counter, both taking turns turning on the water faucet and giggling while splashing water. Eon could not hear their thoughts from this distance, but he could hear them chuckling and giggling when the water splashed on to the floor.
Eon sat there, eating a bowl of reheated noodles. What was the next step? Monday was when his classes resumed and he was not going to be at the apartment for most of the day, not to mention the class work he had already blown off this weekend. Ugg…. he still had a small paper to write. On top of that, there was his part time job after most school days. It was a simple one, but Eon was normally booked on time through the week. The Friday drinking night had been to celebrate a friend’s birthday. Now he had work, school, horny dragons, and super hearing to deal with. And somehow he had to keep the dragons close enough that they didn’t fizzle out of existence or whatever happened if they were too far away. Eon sighed, wondering for a moment if it really mattered. They were creatures that shouldn’t exist in this world, so why should Eon worry about it?
There was no way he could take the dragons with him. Lyra, the smaller of the dragon twins and covered in white fur, could possibly be passed off as a large exotic pet if he could hide her wings. Kira could also pass for a big lizard…if her scales were not ruby red and she also did not have wings. Skree could pass for a bird if he did not mind staying outdoors while Eon was in class. The real problem child was Levian.
The big feral stood out too much and was obviously reptilian…errrr, avian...not normal. While Kira and Lyra could possibly be concealed in a big crate or hide along the streets if they had too, Levian would always need at least a truck to hide behind. There was no way to pass him off as a horse because his wings were too large to conceal and the hybrids clashing colors and unique physical shape was hard to ignore. Then there were going to be the questions of where Eon got his ‘pets’ and why. Owning pets or living with anything else was not normal for Eon.
Eon had lived alone in this apartment for the past two years and he was used to it that way. He didn’t need any pets because he was too busy with work and school to take care of them. In the same way, he did not have much time for relationships either. Sure, Eon and his co workers got along at work and there were no troublesome classmates, but Eon generally kept to himself. Relationships? Friends? All those would come after he had a real job or a degree. They were simply distractions that would hold him back. Yet here he was, an apartment full of dragons, trying to figure out how to care for them.
Even that had questionable reasoning. Levian had pinned him so easily just a few hours ago and if the hybrid had not stopped himself, there would have been nothing Eon could have done. He would have been at the feral dragon’s every whim and desire. While this sounded exciting, Eon found it terrifying in practice. Eon could still feel those hard avian claws pinning his arms, the knowledge that nothing he did would be able to free him…the flashing of the teeth hidden in Levian’s maw…that instinctual fear of becoming just prey. Was Eon doing this for the dragons or just for his own survival? He had to still be in shock from earlier, he did pass out after all. Maybe he had hit his head and he was hallucinating all of this. Maybe this was all a dream…but that twisting coil of fear in his gut was not letting him believe that for a second.
Eon found that he couldn’t look away from Levian, his gaze locking onto the sharp black talons at the end of Levian’s foreclaws and Levian’s wickedly jagged maw. Those teeth could rend his flesh in moments. Those claws could sever his limbs. What was he doing? Why was he helping these monsters? They broke into his apartment and were now demanding sex from him! He was trapped, he was…
“Eon? Are you okay?”
Eon jumped a little at the sound so close to his ear and he whipped his head around to look at the speaker, only to come face to muzzle with Skree. The small wyvern had landed on his shoulder after noticing that Eon was shaking a little. The wyvern was looking at Eon with concern, his brilliant reptilian eyes alien…and comforting. Eon felt Skree’s muzzle bump against his nose with concern, then the wyvern tilted his head to a side a bit, waiting for Eon to talk.
What could he say? That he was terrified of Levian and the other two? That once his sexual afterglow had worn off, his instincts were telling him to flee? There was no good answer but Eon could tell that saying nothing was not an option. So, Eon grinned a little at the wyvern, “just thinking on things. I have a lot on my mind concerning the next few days.”
Skree didn’t look convinced, but the wyvern didn’t press it. Eon felt calmer with Skree near him, his heart slowing to a more acceptable rate. He hated that he suddenly felt this way, but he knew it was an instinctual fear. Creatures as big and predatory as Levian should not be in this world and he couldn’t shake that feeling. He couldn’t deny that Levian terrified him, but he could feel the excitement as well. This was a unique opportunity! Dragons! Real dragons! Thankfully none of them could breath fire. Actually…
Eon turned and looked at Lyra, “do any of you breath fire?”
Lyra shook her head, then paused for a moment, “well, no one breaths fire. Levian has the glowing runes and he could make some, but I don’t think he knows how.”
Eon inwardly sighed. Of course Levian could. Still, Eon didn’t want to let his mind wander down that path too much. The sun had set and Eon had an idea. The dragons were likely tiered of being in the apartment all day after being out and about before they met him. With the sun going down, Eon wanted to see if the dragons would be up to flying around the rooftops. No one went up there, especially at night, because of the birds that roosted there.
“Hey, do you all want to take a flight? No one goes to the roof at night.”
Lyra bolted up and let out a gasp, her feathered wings fluttering, “A flight? Yes! Yes! Can we do that Kira?”
The ruby scaled dragoness let out a chuckle, gesturing a wing toward the door, “of course! You three go ahead. I’ll stay with Levian while he sleeps. The roof is only a few floors up, right? We should be fine.”
Eon stood and took his bowl to the sink, then grabbed his keys off the counter. His phone was around here somewhere, but there wasn’t a reason to carry it right now. Maneuvering to the door was a little trickier, mostly because Lyra was excited by the idea of going out so much that she was sitting at the door. Eon tried his best to avoid stepping on her tail again, but the dragon was so enthusiastic and couldn’t sit still! Eon smiled at her excitement, the dragon’s enthusiasm over a flight almost infectious. Skree simply rode on Eon’s shoulder, the feeling of his sharp claws gripping his shoulder oddly calming. After looking to make sure the hallway was clear, Eon opened the door and was nearly bowled over by an over enthusiastic Lyra.
Skree flapped his wings to stay on Eon’s shoulder, the wyvern chuckling, “Kyra had said that they wouldn’t be able to fly for a while. Last time they did they were almost hit by one of the flying metal monsters. Seems like Kyra really trusts you to let you watch Lyra alone.”
Eon steadied himself as Skree spoke, turning and locking the door to his apartment. He was feeling relaxed again, like he did after his ‘bonding’ with Skree. Did the wyvern have a way of keeping him calm? Eon turned and hurried after a bouncing Lyra, the furred dragon already at the door to the stairs. “I guess Lyra can be a handful. Is she always this energetic?”
Skree chuckled, his tail draping behind Eon’s neck, “Most furred dragons have a lot of energy. Lyra has also hit that age where everything is fun, so she is a rumbling ball of energy most when she has the chance.”
Eon opened the door to the stairs, Lyra darting up the steps like they were made for her. With her four legs and lower profile to the ground, she was able to zoom up the steps with speed that made Eon worry she was going to fly off the ground. Eon continued after her, taking the steps two at a time, “when she has the chance? You make it sound like she has to act a certain way.”
Skree ruffled his wings, then flapped a few times. Instead of riding on Eon’s shoulder, the wyvern flew ahead a little to keep Lyra in his sight, “of course! She has been raised to act as a dragoness of her standard should. There is no time for frivolous play in…Human!”
Skree darted back to Eon, darting up the humans shirt. Up ahead, the sound of Lyra scrambling up the steps had stopped as well. Eon felt a pit of cold in his stomach, waiting for the shrill sound of someone screaming. Was it the night guard, doing his job for once? Was it someone who had gone to the roof? Eon hurried up to the next landing…and let out a sigh of relief.
Ms. Draz was standing there in her evening night gown, she stood at the landing and was bending forward and looking intently at Lyra. The older woman was leaning on her cane and letting out a curious noise, her hand reaching out to touch Lyra.
Lyra was shocked and unsure what to do. Her eyes darted toward Eon and then back to Ms. Draz. Eon could see that her tail was shaking. With the speed she had been climbing the stairs, Lyra had almost ran into the older woman. This older human had an odd smell about her, one that reminded her of a sweet flower pollen and she was carrying a stick. This stick was being leaned upon like it was a leg, but Lyra knew humans were crafty, it could also be a weapon. She also had on a pair of big round glass lenses in front of her eyes, which made her eyes look even larger than they should have.
Ms. Draz placed her hand on Lyra’s head and let out a quiet gasp, like she hadn’t been expecting to feel anything there. Eon decided to speak at that moment, having caught his breath, “Ms. Draz! Out for a walk tonight?”
Ms. Draz simply ran her hand along Lyra’s head, stopping for a moment to give the base of Lyra’s ear a gentle scratch. Lyra looked confused, but she was leaning into the sudden petting, “Eon? Is that you? It sure sounds like you. What kind of dog do you have? They are very soft.”
Eon just grinned. Ms. Draz had very poor vision in her age. Even with her glasses, she relied on her cane and the sounds more than her vision. From the way Lyra was sitting and her poor eyesight, it wouldn’t be hard for her mind to picture Lyra as some kind of dog. Still, it was a stroke of good luck that it was Ms. Draz and not the night guard.
Lyra looked at Eon and he felt the tingle of her mind speak, “this human has an odd way of greeting, is this normal?”
Eon shook his head, ignoring Lyra for the moment, “she is a new breed from Europe. College had her brought in from overseas and I got to be the lucky one to take her home for the weekend.”
Ms. Draz let out a chuckle, her hand moving to give Lyra’s neck a few rubs and scratches as well, “oh, she is a beauty. I didn’t know dog fur could get that white and soft. And such a long tail! She is a beautiful girl.”
Skree was sticking his head out from Eon’s collar, the Wyvern relaxing when Eon did. Eon watched as Ms. Draz ran her hand along Lyra’s neck and shoulders. Amazingly enough, Lyra was relaxing as well! She looked a little confused at first but she uncoiled her tail and wings a little, leaning into Ms. Draz’s hand. If Eon listened closely, he could make out a faint purr.
After a moment, Ms. Draz straightened up and shuffled over to Eon, “that is a cute dog you have, though she makes odd noises. Make sure she doesn’t run into anyone else or run off the roof. I would hate for you to have to explain that. Oh! And you can bring her over any time, I’m sure Piddles would love some company too.”
Eon moved to the side so she could start her way down the steps, one cane tap at a time, “of course Ms. Draz, I’ll think about it. You never know how two dogs would interact though, so I’ll have to train her a little.”
Eon glanced back and saw that Lyra had already resumed her run up the stairs. There was one more flight of stairs before the door to the roof, so Eon looked back to see Ms. Draz making her way back to the hallway, muttering to herself. Skree climbed back onto Eon’s shoulder and busied himself with pulling at loose fur along his wing membrane. With the ‘crisis’ averted, Eon climbed the rest of the stairs to find Lyra sitting at the door to the roof.
“Come on! I wanna go flying now!”
Eon grinned at her and reached for the door handle. Pausing for a moment, He reached down and gripped Lyra by the horn to stop her from darting forward. Immediately after touching her horn, Lyra let out a squeak and stood completely still, her tail swaying lightly. Eon didn’t think much of it, opening the door and looking outside to see if anyone else was on the roof. There was a flutter of wings as a few pigeons took off and flew away, but no other life was on the roof tops. Satisfied that there would be no more human interaction for the night, Eon let out a sigh and let go of Lyra’s horn.
Lyra looked a little dazed for some reason, but after she saw the open sky she let out a happy yelp and darted forward, her wings snapping open before there was a loud whump noise and her wings beat the air, then another. With a tight push from her legs, Lyra leapt into the sky in time with a strong downbeat from her wings. Eon got his first good look at her wings as Lyra pushed against gravity to bring her furred body into the sky.
With the wing extended, he could see that she didn’t have a wing membrane like the other three. Instead, her wings were made of stiff feathers much like a giant bird. Her wingspan had to be at least 10 feet from tip to tip, the graceful looking appendages suddenly rippling with muscle and strength that Eon hadn’t considered was possible for the smaller dragon. Her muscles were not bulging with effort, but Eon could see the tightly corded tendons flexing for a moment, then Lyra shot into the sky.
With her gravitational advisory at bay, Lyra let out a happy roar as she paused in the air for just a moment. In that moment, Eon could see the light illuminating the thin edges of her feathered wings, her horned head glimmering in the moon light. Her long tail was awkward on the ground, but Eon could see that the long appendage was trailing behind her like a streamer. With a flick of her tail, Lyra changed direction and her lithe frame was truly free from the gravity that held humanity to the ground. It seemed so effortless, so quick and easy for her. She was made for the sky.
Eon heard a chuckle from Skree just before the wyvern darted off his shoulder. While Lyra seemed to dance gracefully, the smaller wyvern was like an arrow. Each snap of his wings pushed him forward at a speed that made it difficult for Eon to keep track of in the moon light. Skree didn’t ‘fly’ as much as use his wings to change his direction. Eon caught several times where Skree simply used one wing to change direction, the small fan on the end of his tail cracking like a whip when he took turns that made it impossible to keep up with.
Skree then let a out a high pitch shriek, suddenly darting right for Lyra. Eon looked for any sign of danger that would have made Skree shriek like that, but he couldn’t see anything. He almost missed Lyra moving as she not only dodged the quickly moving wyvern, but she snapped a paw forward and tried to bat him out the air. There was another whip crack as Skree changed direction as soon as Lyra’s paw was in motion, the small wyvern rolling in the air like a possessed wind spirit, Lyra’s paw missing by a single hair.
Eon was worried that they two were fighting over something…then he saw Lyra’s jaw in the unmistakable shape of a smile. With a beat of her wings, Lyra took off after Skree, the furred dragon gaining on the small wyvern with frightening accuracy. Skree let out another shriek as Lyra gained, then there was the tell-tale whip crack from skree’s tail as he looped up and over Lyra.
Lyra let out a growl, beating her wide wings once to slow down, then again to reverse her direction. After that, Lyra began to chase Skree around the building and the rooftop. Skree was faster at changing direction and he could avoid her if she came close, but Lyra had a size advantage over him and her larger wings not only propelled her faster in a line, but Skree had to avoid them if he wanted to stay out of her reach. In this game of chase, Skree used everything to his advantage. He darted close to the ground, snapping away at the last second. He darted between A/C units that were just too small for Lyra to wit through. He would goad her every time she got close, either by staying just a few inches away or looping her body completely.
Lyra’s growls took on a more serious and deeper sound, a sound that made Eon’s neck hair stand up. Suddenly, Lyra was gaining on Skree much faster than before. The small wyvern was still darting about the roof, his breakneck speed and small size affording him plenty of room for risky dives and darting between objects. Now, Lyra was also matching this speed, her wings beating the air with frightening intensity. Her larger frame was not made for the quick changes in direction, so Eon saw her change tactics. She had become accustom to the small areas that Skree would dart between, so she would simply fly above and then dive where he would likely come out. Skree, still having more mobility than Lyra, simply whipped into another direction. With her weight and speed, Lyra wouldn’t be able to stop in time, she was going to crash.
Eon had just enough time to think that Lyra was going to crash before the furred dragon let out a vicious snarl and spread her wings wide, she raised them like she would for a down beat. Only, there was no down beat. She kept her wings up and instead extended all four of her legs. With a tremendous thud, Lyra hit the ground with a bone jarring thud. For a moment, Eon could see her standing there, her bright reptilian eyes tracing Skree’s flight, her legs bending slightly. Her feathers gleamed in the moon light and her claws dug into the ground. With a roar of challenge, Lyra burst off the ground with one tremendous wing beat, her speed going from zero to break neck in the time it took Eon to blink. Skree managed to turn just as Lyra reached him, her wings spread wide, claws out, tail trailing behind like a snake, then she grabbed him.
The two tumbled to the ground after that, Lyra landing on her back as she held Skree close. Eon heard Lyra laughing even as Skree was letting out squawks of protest.
“Ha! I finally caught you this time! You swift wing wyverns are tricky bastards.”
Skree was struggling in her fluffy paw, but her grip was on his tail and he couldn’t do more than dangle in her grasp, “you reckless buffoon! That last little trick of yours could have ended badly! And let go of my tail!”
Lyra was breathing heavily, her tail twitching as she lay there and gave Skree a hug, the smaller wyvern protesting through her fur, “aww, I know. But I was having fun and I haven’t had a good chase since we ended up here. Besides, you know I can do that.”
Skree battered her muzzle with his wings, pulling himself upright and out of her hug, “you didn’t know if the ground would have been soft enough! I know you are able to rebound like that, but if the ground had been any more solid, you would have shattered your legs!”
Lyra stuck her tongue out at skree, “not likely. You know my knees can flex and let me conserve momentum. That is how I caught you!”
Eon had arrived, looking worried for the two of them, but he let out a sigh as he saw that they were both fine, “ugg…you two are going to give me a heart attack. I thought for sure you were going to eat concrete there, Lyra.”
Lyra tilted her head a little, “concrete? Do you mean the roof?” Lyra chuckled at Eon’s concern, “nonsense! The ground is far to hard to eat and I’m sure it would taste bad anyway.”
Skree managed to slip his tail out of Lyra’s paw and stood on her chest, the wyvern rising and falling with her breathing. Skree moved forward and looked very closely at Lyra’s forepaws, then turned to look at her back paws. He let out a chittering noise that could only be annoyance, looking back at Lyra, “you need to be more careful, you flying hairball! Your bones are flexible enough for that now, but if you had weighed as much as Kira, you would not be able to walk right now.”
Lyra let out a sigh, rolling over so that she was laying on her belly. Skree flapped a few times before she moved, opting to stand on the ground and give her his best stare down. Lyra held his gaze for a moment, then looked away, “okay, I won’t do that again. I promise. Still, you don’t have to be mad that I caught you…”
Skree tossed his wings up and let out a groan, “Mad that you caught me? Far from it! That was impressive and rightfully so, but the degree of reckless abandon for your safety makes my fur bristle! What if you had slipped on your landing, or a gust of wind had thrown off your aim? I know you are lighter than you look and you use that frighteningly well in the air, but even the most experienced dragons would not land with such an impact on purpose.”
Eon looked between the two dragons that were under his care. From the way Skree was talking, he had known Lyra far longer than the few weeks they had been here on earth and that the chase game was something they did frequently. Looking at Lyra’s expression and Skree’s demeanor, he got the impression that Skree was acting like an instructor to Lyra. Eon found it an odd thing to think that Skree was teaching Lyra, but he also had no clue how the dragon society worked. For all he knew, Lyra could be some kind of royal dragon. She certainly had the graceful enough features for what Eon would pass as a royal dragon…
Lyra was kneading her paws on the ground, her eyes darting form the ground to Skree, then Eon, then back to the ground. Her tail flicked in annoyance, her gaze sharpening as she glared at Skree, “But I’m not an experienced dragon! I haven’t had to chase down prey and fight for my territory! You have to fly everywhere you go while I’m normally stuck on my paws all day. We got here and then I was told I couldn’t fly in the skies because it was too dangerous. Can you blame me for getting a little excited at being able to fly for the first time in a week?”
Skree let out a growl, which sounded more high pitched than a real threat, “You know as well as I do that you were showing off for your audience. What would Eon have done if you shattered your leg or smacked your thick skull on the ground? And what would we tell Kira? Even if Levian were to stop her from hurting me, you know she doesn’t forgive and forget very easy.”
Eon looked between the two carnivores, the smaller wyvern standing his ground with the larger furred dragon, but Lyra looked just as stubborn as Skree. So, deciding to take on his role as ‘handler’ a bit more seriously, Eon intervened. He didn’t know the relationship between these two, but he did know that having them fighting would not be good for anyone. Leaning forward, Eon grabbed Skree by the tail and hoisted him up. Skree protested a little at being moved in such an ‘undignified’ way. Lyra started chuckling, then eon grabbed her by the horn and she became very quiet and still.
“Would both of you just stop.” Eon looked from Skree to Lyra, “You two came out to fly and you have had a good time. I loved watching. I’ve never seen anything fly as fast as Skree and you were incredibly graceful Lyra.”
Skree used his claws and poked Eon’s hand. Eon let him go and the Wyvern righted himself in the air and landed on Eon’s shoulder. If Eon didn’t know better, Skree had claimed that spot as his own, “of course Eon. But we need to be careful. Since she isn’t bonded with you yet, any injury would shorten her time here. Oh, and I need to tell…”
Eon waved him off, looking back at Lyra, “yes, I got it Skree. She was reckless and showing off. Two things that can lead to problems. She said she won’t do it again.”
Skree shook his head, “it isn’t that. I’m talking about something else.”
Eon looked at the Wyvern, confused. Skree shook his head, “you have no clue and we will need to teach you. Take a good look at Lyra, I’m sure even your eyes can see it if you look.”
Now Eon was a little concerned. Something was wrong with Lyra? Eon got onto his knees and pulled Lyra closer. He simply pulled on her horn a little and she came over without a fuss, her tail swaying and her breathing heavy. Did she overexert herself? Or did she hurt her feet like Skree had warned she would? Eon ran his hand along her breast area and along her ribcage, trying to see if he could feel any irregularities. She was incredibly soft and warm to the touch, but Eon could feel the ribcage with a little guessing on dragon anatomy. Lyra let out a quiet growl, shifting her back lags a little. Where her back legs in pain? Eon looked as hard as he could, but her couldn’t see anything. He reach out and touched her hind leg gently. At this, Lyra let out a pleased growl and her tail twitched to lay closer to Eon’s hand. Her leg was trembling in his touch. A moment later, Lyra placed one of her forepaws on Eon’s leg, huffing heavily as she let out another deep growl. There was something in the growl that was obviously not from anger or discomfort. If anything it was…pleased? Eon twitched his ears a little, his brow furrowing. A pleased growl? All he was doing was holder her by the horn and checking her legs…her back legs…
Eon sat up quickly, Skree letting out a surprised shriek as hi perch suddenly shifted quickly. Eon let go of Lyra’s horn and after looking he could see that Lyra did have a very specific look on her face. One of interest, curiosity, tinged with the same kind of lust that Levian had earlier in the day.
Skree decided to chime in then, “A dragon’s horns are not only decorative, but grabbing a dragon’s horns is often an act of dominance. For many it is just an easy hold. For some, like poor Lyra here, having their horns grabbed triggers an intense euphoria.” Skree let out a chipping whistle, nuzzling his head against Eon’s hair, “such a naughty human. First you grab her horn before she shows off for you, and now you grab them again and tease her. If you were a dragon, you would have essentially just invited her to come and lay with you for a few days.”
Eon looked at Skree to see if he was joking, but he could tell simply from the way Lyra was acting that Skree was right. Now that he was looking for it, he could see that she was positioning herself for him. Her hind legs were spread slightly, her eyes lidded and unfocused, and her tail had tried to curl around his leg a little. On top of that, he could hear her breathing quite well and with his new ears picking up on the more subtle noises. There was a low thrumming in her chest and she was letting out a growl with each exhale. Eon looked at Skree for advice, but the Wyvern simply gave a shrug of his wings.
“she will get over it in a few minutes. Since she had been flying so hard, she will probably fall right asleep afterward too. Hmm…I don’t know how humans feel it, but imagine the intense feeling of sexual satisfaction flooding your body without any sexual actions. It is a drug that her mind decides to make whenever someone grabs her horns. Petting and rubbing is fine, but grabbing and squeezing will get her going. Besides…you need to bond with her eventually. On top of a building is as good as any.”
Eon simply glared at the wyvern. Skree grinned back for a moment, then he shrugged, “hey, it is going to happen eventually. I just didn’t think you were so eager.”
Lyra let out a mumbled purr, pulling herself into Eon’s lap and nuzzling at his shirt. Eon could tell she was more than willing if his ears were reading her growls correctly. But still…it just didn’t feel right. Eon let out a sigh and gave Lyra a pat on her fluffy head, then he slid his arm under her and picked her up. Skree had been right, Lyra was much lighter than she looked. She couldn’t have been more than forty pounds. Lyra reacted to this change in position by curling against Eon, one of her wings reaching out to drape over his shoulder as she let out a rumble and nuzzled into his arm. That was one hell of a spot for Eon to discover…
Skree was hovering nearby and trying to contain his laughter. This poor human just had no clue what he had gotten himself into. Still, Skree was glad Eon didn’t take advantage of Lyra. If Eon had known about her horns being so sensitive, he probably wouldn’t have grabbed them. Still, Lyra was going to be very cuddly for the rest of the evening. Even now, she had wrapped her tail around Eon’s waist as he carried her to the door. Lyra was just doing what her instincts were telling her and Skree felt a little bad for her, but from what he did know of Eon, he was going to do things right.
Eon looked back from the door, motioning for Skree to come over, “Hey Skree, her back claws are on my hand with the keys. Do you think you can help me out a little?”
Skree simply shook his head, gliding over, “You are willingly showing me how to open these doors? Of course I’ll help.”
Eon sighed and Lyra leaned up to give him a lick along the chin. Skree didn’t want to tell him just how lucky he was. Instead, Skree took the keys and Eon guided him through on opening the door. Hopefully things at the apartment were going well.
Things in the apartment were not going well at all.
Right after Eon had left, the larger hybrid had woken up in a foul mood. Trouble had started immediately after Levian woke up, a wave of unease sweeping over Kira when Levian looked at her. His eyes were unfocused and glowing, his teeth bared threateningly. Levian had moved off the couch and advanced slowly toward Kira.
Kira didn’t like the look in Levian’s eyes. She hadn’t seen him look like that before, an almost feral glaze in his eyes. Kira felt that familiar twinge of instinct, a sudden drive to flee flooding her system. She ignored it for a moment, confused as to why she was suddenly feeling that way around Levian of all dragons. Unless he had…
With a shove of his reptilian hind legs, Levian bolted at her, a snarl on his maw. Kira jumped to the side, Levian’s bulk passing her in a rush. His hind claws dug into the wooden floor as he turned, a eerie glow around his feathers and scales. Kira felt her fight or flight instinct again and she knew exactly what had happened.
“Levian, it is me. Calm down.”
Levian rushed at her again and Kira jumped up and beat her wings to get some height…only the apartment was never made for winged creatures to fly inside it. Her wings hit the ceiling long before she had gained enough height to avoid the rushing Dracogryph. Levian’s larger mass collided with Kira in the air, sending he ruby dragoness sprawling.
Kira landed on the ground in a heap, rolling to get back on her feet before Levian reached her, but she was too slow. A set of strong, taloned claws grasped around her neck and held her down. There was a sudden weight on her tail base as well as Levian’s hind foot stepped on her tail and kept her from moving it much. Slowly, Levian began to squeeze.
Levian stood over her, his eyes locked onto her as she thrashed wildly. Was Levian serious? She had known that he was going to be in a bad mood after he woke up, but this was worse than she was expecting. Did he know what she had done? It had been an accident! Thankfully, she was able to use her mind to speak instead of her vocals because Levian was squeezing too hard for her to use them.
“L-Levian! You are squeezing to hard! I c…can’t breath!”
Levian only growled at her, the lights in the apartment flickering, then shutting off with a click. Levian’s feathers began to shimmer in the late evening, the fringes of his feathery half glowing with the freshly absorbed energy of the apartment building. Even the green scales on his hind end were glowing slightly form the sheer magnitude of energy Levian had just taken in.
In the dim glow of Levian’s nightmarish light, Kira was left looking at two shimmering purple eyes outlined by crackling energy. Levian’s fangs were barred, arcs of blue lightning cresting between his teeth. His wings spread out slowly, casting more of his unearthly light in the dark apartment. There was a sizzling sound as water in a glass eon had left on the table began to bubble, the water shimmering with lighting in the glass. Levian wouldn’t do this knowingly!
Kira stopped struggling and simply held her breath, her eyes wide with fear. She knew the hybrids origin and the rumors surrounding him. Even back home Levian was treated with kind reserve, the Hybrid’s tendency to fall into a dangerous trance well known in several regions. Levian had always been so careful about it, careful to be a gentle giant and avoid anything that could trigger his dormant side.
The Lightning Drake.
Kira gazed at him, taking in the stunning ferocity her companion was displaying. Levian never bared his fangs at anyone, much less struck out. Yet here he was, standing above her with his claws wrapped around her throat and choking her.
The Lightning Drake squeezed tighter, the scales under his grip beginning to buckle and crack. Kira griped onto his arm trying to loosen his grip with force. She would have had better luck melting iron with ice.
“L-levian…It is me…”
The Drake above her simply looked on, his violet eyes locked onto her with feral instinct. The was a surge of energy in the air, a cold feeling as Kira felt her wings go numb and her scales tingle painfully. The current of electricity coursed through her quickly but she heard the wooden floor crackle from the surge of heat from the energy that pulsed though her. Levian was awake, but he wasn’t thinking. This was pure instinct, brought on by a trauma response.
Levian the Lightning Drake. A ferocious beast of lightning and thunder, a monster capable of tearing apart dragons much larger than himself. Kira had never seen Levian like this before and she knew she would never forget it. Skree had told her about it once, something had triggered this response before and The Lightning Drake had turned a forest into a crater with lightning strikes that had torn the very ground apart. Skree hadn’t told her what had happened to make The Lightning Drake appear but Skree had been very clear that if he ever did this again, Levian would have to be forcefully reminded who he was.
Kira closed her eyes, her lung burning as she struggled to breath. With a final surge of desperation, She screamed at Levian with her mind, “LEVIAN, YOU ARE HURTING ME!”
The lightning Drake blinked from the force of her mental yell, the glow in his eyes lessening a bit. Kira could see his pupils widen a little, the lightning in his maw ceasing for a moment. Kira could see that he recognized her, realizing what was going on.
“Kira?”
There was a crack of lightning and all the lights came back on, the glow that had been building in Levian vanishing like it had never been there. Levian relaxed his grip on Kira’s neck with a surprised look on his face, looking at his claws like he hadn’t even know they were his.
Kira let out a cough and inhaled fresh air, then coughed some more. She moved to get up, but Levian was still holding her. Levian glanced at her with confusion, “Kira…you have venom, don’t you?”
Kira looked away, her tail curling away from Levian. He had figured it out, she didn’t need to say anything.
Levian let out a growl, the lights in the apartment flickering a little. He closed his eyes for a moment, breathing deeply and holding his own breath for a bit. The lights returned to normal and Levian looked at Kira again, his usual neutral glare holding her gaze.
“You envenomed me in Eon’s room, didn’t you? Your venom has aphrodisiac properties, that is the only reason I can think it took so long for my…other self…to feel it. Why?”
Kira was trembling under Levian’s gaze. She could feel the questions and hurt behind his gaze. She had known about his past and she had still done it. It was her fault and they both knew it. She gripped his claws again, holding him tight, “I thought it would help you relax. You were so nervous about Eon, about a human that you had to care for. You were trembling in the room. I can read you well enough to know that you are stressed over everything, so I thought I would help.”
Levian held his cold stare, his pupils locked onto hers, “how much is lethal?”
Kira shook her head, “I don’t think it is. I’ve used it to stop prey from fleeing and to distract larger creatures that had wanted to hurt me. There are spines in my tail. I can flick my tail to throw them like a human’s arrow or I can hit with my tail. Nothing has died from my venom alone, I swear.”
Levian let go of her, moving away. Kira rolled back to her feet, her wings still numb and her toes hurt. Kira winced as she felt her toes crackle on the floor, her scales still tingling from Levian’s energy. Levian didn’t look apologetic, “you knew how I react to venom. You are lucky that the aphrodisiac worked first. Eon is already terrified of me, how do you think he would react if he saw…that.”
Kira shuffled her claws, avoiding looking at Levian, “I didn’t think it would trigger that side of you. Like I said it is non-lethal. Skree had mentioned that…”
Levian let out a growl, making Kira stop talking, “Skree doesn’t know everything. Don’t do that again.”
Kira was going to say something, but the door flew open. Eon slipped into he room, holding Lyra and with Skree riding on his shoulder. Eon looked around the apartment, his eyes locking with Levian for a moment. The Hybrid felt a sense of unease, then Eon let out a sigh, “thank goodness. There was that power surge in the hallway, and I thought I smelled something burning. Looks like everything is in order here though.”
Levian looked at the human, then to Skree. Skree gave a simple shake of his head and Levian felt a wave of relief. Skree hadn’t said anything about what that power surge had been. Eon came closer, placing a sleeping Lyra on the couch that Levian had been on earlier. With a quick look for the blanket that Eon had decided was just going to be the dragon blanket, Eon covered the sleeping fur dragoness.
Skree had jumped off Eon shoulder and was hovering near Levian, a concerned look in his eye. He knew very well that Levian had caused that power surge. Levian seemed calm enough now, though Skree had no idea why Levian had suddenly flipped like that. Levian had said it took a toxin or something for that side to come out. Did he eat something that was toxic to dragons?
Eon looked back to Levian. The hybrid could see that tinge of fear in the human’s eyes and Levian felt like he needed tog o elsewhere. Eon was being kind to the others for no reason, but Levian knew that the human feared him. It was only natural. When Levian felt Eon’s hand run along his head, the Hybrid was visibly startled. Eon looked at the dragon and Levian could still see the fear in the human’s eyes, but Eon…Eon didn’t care.
Running his hand through Levian’s feathers, Eon felt himself marveling at how soft they were. Sure, Levian could pounce on him and do whatever he wanted, but Eon had to simply trust that he would not. Whatever dispute had been going on in the apartment before Eon had come in was between Levian and Kira.
“Hey. It is getting late. What do you say the guys take the room while the ladies sleep on the couch?” Eon didn’t wait for a response from the Hybrid, simply leaving and heading to the room.
Eon was glad when he felt the familiar talons of Skree on his shoulder. Eon was no idiot, he had a feeling that power surge had something to do with Levian. Skree’s concern toward the hybrid confirmed his thoughts. Whatever it was, Eon was sure that leaving Levian alone with Kira was a bad idea for the time being.
He needed to get over his fear of Levian quick if he wanted to learn more about the hybrid. The Dracogryph fascinated him and terrified him in equal parts. When Eon had walked in he had seen Kira looking at Levian with fear and Eon had wondered if he could handle being near the big hybrid. Then Eon had seen Levian jump when he had pet the dragon on the head and Eon realized that the hybrid was truly surprised that eon was willing to pet him. Eon couldn’t help but feel that Levian was not used to being around so many others and the hybrid was unsure of how to act. Perhaps with a good night’s sleep they could wake up with cool heads.
Levian watched the human’s confidant stride, a grin teasing at his muzzle. This human was going to be fun when it was his turn. With a glance at Kira, who was equally surprised at Eon’s candid attitude, Levin stood and followed the human. Sleeping on the floor wasn’t that bad of an idea. After today, Levian was beat. Tomorrow they could decide who was going to bond with Eon next, though judging by the way Eon was carrying Lyra, it wasn’t hard to guess. Levian chuckled a little, glad that Kira hadn’t noticed that Eon’s hand had been hidden under Lyra. The human probably didn’t even notice, but Lyra was probably going to have some really good dreams tonight.
