After three days at the Hopps farm, Xavier was on the road to a full recovery. Jean, the nurse, had come back to give him a check-up and pronounced him as healthy as he could be given the circumstances. She advised continued use of the antibiotics to ensure he remained free of infection and continued hearty eating with lots of fluid intake, but otherwise that he should take things as easily as he could. It was good advice, but he had some trouble taking it.

Aside from the demanding trio that had laid claim to him and a second session with Bonnie, he had found himself to be a source of both fascination and pride for quite a large number of the rabbits. It seemed to have quickly become something of a game for them to see who could coerce him into the most compromising position and get him off the fastest. Little Melanie was the leader by a wide margin in his book, but the diminutive bunny had no interest in the competition. All she seemed to care about was making sure that she could fall asleep with her nose buried against his groin every night, and he obliged her as it meant that he actually got to sleep himself. He had little doubt that he would otherwise have had his time heavily occupied.

His time was not completely taken up with satisfying the sexual appetites of his hosts, however. While he was not up to a full load of heavy activity, his size and strength did make light work of some tasks that the rabbits found to be difficult or troublesome. He did his best to assist them as he could, partially out of a natural gratitude but also because it gave him the opportunity to further explore the community and learn more about its various inhabitants. As ordered, he made sure to check in with his superiors at noon each day, receiving the same instructions as previously.

There was a new addendum on the fourth day. His delegation had reached the outskirts of Zootopia and made contact with the local government. As he had accidentally stumbled upon the family of a relatively famous member of the police force, they would be sending her for an informal visit and interview along with her partner. Upon this revelation, he was swarmed by the younger bunnies who fought to give him every last scrap of information they had between them about this Judy.

She was far more than a minor celebrity to her family, particularly the younger generations. She was accorded hero status, worthy of admiration and worship, with no less consideration given to her partner, Nick. The pair were in a romantic relationship of sorts, though not a few of the siblings claimed to have had their turns with the fox. That did not have any adverse effect that he could determine, particularly not as Judy decided to sample his own wares, as it were. Nicholas Wilde advised that rabbits were notoriously promiscuous unless directly and specifically engaged to another individual via marriage, though there were loopholes even then as the human had found.

“Bunnies will be bunnies," the vulpine opined as they stole a few moments of quiet together. “If I always tried to keep her satisfied by myself, I'd never get out of bed. That's half the reason we're more of a trio than a pair. Finn is a lifesaver sometimes."

“They do seem to have rather ravenous sexual appetites," Xavier agreed. “Some seem to enjoy biting off more than they can chew."

“They do tend to do that, but they keep on chewing until it fits, eh?"

“I would agree with that sentiment. It seems to be something of a competition to see who can take me the deepest and most frequently throughout the day."

The fox gave a low whistle of appreciation. “That's no small feat, from what I've seen."

“It is rather impressive, if I do say so myself. It is not an unpleasant experience, for myself or those who make the attempt."

“I guess I'll see if any more of them can take my knot these days before we head back to the city. Took Carrots half a year before she could manage it." He gave the taller human an appraising look. “You plan on staying here if this whole diplomatic relations thing works out?'

Xavier considered for a moment before answering. “My current orders have been to remain in place while the delegation negotiates with the local government authorities. If I were to be placed on detached duty here, I would not find it displeasing. It has been interesting to see the differences between these and the rabbits from my own home. Ours are much more insular, a very self-isolating community. These seem much more outgoing."

“They can be, at least once the stick is removed from their rectums. The Hopps are a little different in that regard. It's generally only the younger generations that are more accepting of preds, and especially relationships with them, but Bonnie and Stu are good people. Ooooh, boy, though, if you meet their parents, be prepared for a world of grief. Those old coots tried to skin me the first time I came over for the holidays. That's why we stay with my mom and just give the Hopps a visit."

“I suppose you can't expect elders to change their ways too drastically. Their ways are set because of the experiences they have lived through. There is still a large amount of prejudice against the emus in my home, though the war with them was nearly a century ago. The biggest difficulty, as I have seen it, is the intermediate generation, the children who were raised by those who hold the prejudice tightest. If those hearts and minds can be won over, then the fight for peace and equality becomes easier."

The fox gave him another appraising look, then nodded slowly. “You've been on the bad side of that, I think."

“Humans are the majority species where I come from, and we have not historically been particularly kind to any others whom we could easily dominate and oppress. It has been an uphill battle to change opinions, one fairly earned by our ancestors but frustrating for those of us who seek to be more than what has been historically the case, particularly when some in positions of power cling to the old ways. We have, for instance, only very recently elected our first non-human president, which was a large stride in the correct direction, but his fur went white within two years just from fighting entrenched attitudes in an effort to install any kind of progressive policies. The most frustrating thing is fighting against the self sabotaging attitudes of our own kind in an effort to enact change."

“Hm. Sounds familiar. Of course, it took a certain little cottontail to get me to change my attitude about how I was being treated before I was even ready to start trying to change anyone else's. She's a determined little thing, though, and she never gives up on something she's set her heart on. Judy decided to make the world a better place, and she's damn well doing it, too. Love my little fluffbutt."

“She and her siblings do seem to have a rather infectious enthusiasm and a determined spirit. I think I would enjoy staying with them on a more or less permanent basis."

Fortunately, a few days later, he got his wish. The diplomats of the delegation would be staying in Zootopia along with a few of the security team, while the remainder would be returning to their homeland with Zootopian diplomats in trade. Xavier was to remain with the Hopps so long as they would have him to continue building good relations with the community while those of political means and acumen worked on the higher stage. It was a welcome arrangement, particularly so when an unexpected surprise was laid at his feet after a month and a half with the Hopps Or rather, several of them were.

“So, looks like you're officially part of the family," Charlotte observed, her mother and several of her sisters in tow. “And in a big way."

“How so?" the human inquired, glazing at the small plastic items that each held.

“Well, considering that we take precautions with any of our brothers, and you're the only one that any of us have been with lately… Well, except for mom, anyways. We're pretty sure that they're all yours."

And so he was presented with seven positive pregnancy tests. Considering the number of rabbits that he'd been regularly indulging, he was surprised that it wasn't more.

“I… will have to advise my superiors of this…"

And hopefully they wouldn't have him neutered.
