The sun dipped below the horizon, casting long shadows across the clearing. The sanctuary's inhabitants, oblivious to the unfolding drama, continued their evening routines. Rachel and Liam were spotted in the distance, their silhouettes against the fading light.
Misty's conflicted gaze shifted between Dr. Mercer's eyes and the tranquil surroundings. The sanctuary, with its eucalyptus-scented air and the distant sounds of therian life, seemed both a haven and a witness to the intimate exchange.
In that charged moment, Misty made her decision. Her paws gestured with a mix of determination and vulnerability. "I... trust you, Dr. Mercer. If you're willing to take this step for me, for us, I'll be by your side."
A genuine smile crossed Dr Mercer's face, his eyes expressing gratitude and a touch of relief. He leaned in, gently pressing his forehead against Misty's once more. "Thank you, Misty. Your trust means everything to me."
As they lingered in the clearing, a profound connection forged in the twilight, the sanctuary continued its rhythmic existence. The final rays of the sun illuminated Misty's fur, casting a warm, reddish glow.
Slowly, Misty rose, then gestured slowly, ensuring her words were recognisable and perfectly understood.
“I am... afraid. Dr. Mercer – I've never, with a male... I - “
Misty dropped her paws, then her head. Tenderly, Dr, Mercer lifted her chin up, his eyes staring into hers.
“Misty...” He whispered quietly. “If it's any consolation... I've never made love with one like you, either... or any therian! I will be gentle, I promise, and I'll ensure your safety, I'll – this is just awkward and confusing, come on, let me be with you, if you'll have me – please?”
Misty shivered, then rose and nodded, quietly crawling after Dr Mercer as he made his way across the grass, the cool night slowly settling over their refuge and the valley it inhabited.
Misty's heart raced as she grappled with the weight of her decision. The gentle breeze rustled the eucalyptus leaves, mirroring the whirlwind of emotions within her. Dr. Mercer, sensing her inner turmoil, extended a comforting hand, gently taking one of her paws in his human hand and offering comfort and understanding in the gentle touch.
After a moment, Misty took her paw back and gestured, the words coming slowly.
“I've never been here before,” Misty signed, her gestures fluid yet the tremble in her body unmistakable. “I am afraid, Dr. Mercer – terrified even. Yet I am... with you on this journey. Can you... before we actually mate – can you give me an injection, please? Something to help calm me, and hopefully – hold my darker side at bay? I know it will hurt me – the mating – the lovemaking, I've spoken with Rachel and - “
“If you wish to be given a mild sedative Misty, I will do such for you. Anything I can do, to keep you calm and at peace, consider it yours. I would never hurt you intentionally, I promise.” Dr. Mercer whispered soothingly. I've never been here before – all this time, amongst your kind, the Therians, I've never, ever, loved and trusted one – like I do you!”
Misty blinked twice, then merely stared at him, her eyes wide and mouth open in surprise.
“It's true, I care for them, Misty, I do not care about them – not like I do with you. I would do anything to save their lives, I mean that – but I do not have the same bond of trust and affection, as what I feel for you.”
Slowly, Misty's doubt crept into her mind, and almost angrily, she gestured her thoughts into words.
“You're just saying that admit it, you've wanted to mate with a Therian for years...”
Dr. Mercer blinked, staring into Misty's suddenly heightened aggressive expression.
Are her eyes changing? Getting darker? How close – is – her inner Therian? It's true, I have fantasised about what it'd be like, but that's – all – it ever was pure, fictional fantasy! I'd never dream of trying to take a Therian doe against her will...
Misty suddenly gasped and looked away, a deep, convulsive shiver rippling through her body, as she grunted something in her feral tongue, her paws curling into fists as she fought a battle Dr Mercer knew he couldn't help her with.
“Misty – I'd never harm you, or another Therian, I swear on my life! I am a healer, a protector and a guardian of your kind, of all of you! I am never going to hurt any of you! Listen to me, you know me, you know my heart and my mind – smell my scent – you'd know if I was lying to you!” Dr. Mercer spoke calmly and honestly.
“Rachel told me,” Misty slowly gestured, keeping her head bowed. “You would hurt me when we mated...”
Dr. Mercer sighed softly. “You're a maiden, Misty – but I'm hoping, with the mild sedative, and having you choosing the pace and at any stage, if you're uncomfortable – it'll be easier for you to dismount. I will use a liquid, that'll both help relax you and make the lovemaking easier for you. It won't hurt you, the liquid, it's perfectly safe, I promise.”
Misty quivered, then nervously lifted her head up to look into his eyes, searching for reassurance and understanding of her deepest, innermost fears, before she sniffled and began to gesture again.
“What... happens if you fail?”
Dr. Mercer gently enfolded her in a warm, comforting embrace, feeling her quivering.
“Misty,” Dr. Mercer murmured gently. “With you, my dear sweet doe, with me, I won't fail, I promise...”

As the sun set on another day, casting long shadows across the clearing, the sanctuary's inhabitants, oblivious to the unfolding moments between Misty and Dr. Mercer, continued their evening routines. Rachel and Liam were spotted in the distance, Liam playing with his joey, their silhouettes adding to the shadows that fell.
Misty's gaze, torn between the safety of Dr. Mercer's presence and the unknown depths of her own apprehension, mirrored the conflicting emotions swirling once more within her. The refuge, with its comforting eucalyptus-scented air and the distant voices and scents of the Therians, bore witness to Misty's unfolding decision. A decision based on trust and vulnerability in the young doe.
With a deep shiver, Misty looked up, then began gesturing as she spoke from her heart. “Dr. Mercer, I... I trust you. If you're willing to risk this for me, for us, I will be by your side. I wish to become your doe – your mate.”
Dr. Mercer's heartfelt gratitude radiated through his look and the gentle smile as he leaned in, his forehead touching Misty's in a tender gesture of reassurance. “Thank you, Misty. Your trust means everything to me.”
In the lingering twilight, as the sanctuary hummed with the rhythm of life all around them, Misty's eyes grew wide and she looked up in Dr. Mercer's eyes, once more seeking reassurance and comfort.
“I've never, with a male... I - “ Misty frantically gestured.
With a gentle touch, Dr Mercer lifted her chin, meeting her gaze with understanding and compassion.
“I know, you told me this last night, and I've told you the truth. I've never bedded one of you either – but I promise, I'll ensure your safety. Let me be with you Misty, heart, body and soul. If you'll have me, I'd love to offer myself to you, entirely and openly.”
Misty swallowed the nervous lump in her throat before she began crawling away, pausing to look back at him, before he rose and followed her back to his cabin.
*
In the intimate haven of his private cabin, the soft glow of dimmed lighting enveloped Misty and him. Sensing Misty's nervous twitches and the anxious flickers of her gaze and ears, Dr. Mercer moved with deliberate care.
“It's alright Misty, I promise you.” Dr. Mercer comforted her, gently stroking her fur.
Opening his bag, Dr. Mercer retrieved a small vial, a sterile needle and a syringe. “I know you're scared. I'm scared too!” He admitted, his voice quiet and trying to stay calm for her sake.
With meticulous care, he measured out the dosage, watching as Misty looked away then held out her right forearm and paw.
Dr. Mercer gently slid the needle home and administered the sedative, then held his fingers against her wrist as he counted her heartbeats. He held her gaze, his own an expression of empathy and determination at what he was about to do – realising it could be the start of something new and wonderful – or a quick, hopefully painless, death if he failed. “Alright, how are you feeling? Should be nice and relaxed now...”
Misty quivered and nodded her head, rolling her head and twisting it from side to side, as she felt the powerful anaesthetic trying to drag her into darkness.
“Very... sleepy - “ Misty gestured, then shook herself. “Was too much?”
“Better too much my love, than not enough... Now, as I said, I'll lay on the bed, I will help move you into position. I'll be with you every moment, I promise. If you're too scared or hurting – dismount, I want you to promise me, I'd never want to hurt you, intentionally or otherwise and...”
Misty looked down, her eyes frowning, before she gestured.
“We can not mate if you're wearing clothes, Doctor Mercer...” Misty's weak smile played across her lips as she swayed slightly.
“Oh, very funny - “ Dr. Mercer snorted playfully, as he turned his back and quickly shed his clothes, then paused and glanced over his shoulder. “Why am I being such a prude? It's not like you haven't seen me naked before...”
Misty grunted in what he surmised was laughter, before she placed both paws on the bed, shaking her head and swaying.
Too much sedation, you knew it was too much, yet you injected her with the whole vial almost! Dr. Mercer's conscience mentally screamed at him. It's borderline non-consensual, and we both know it!
Better too much, to save her the worst of the pain – than not enough – you saw last night, how close she was to succumbing to her darker side! How do you think it'll react when I take from her that which can never be replaced – truly make her a doe and make love with her? Think it'd sit idly by as we... shared our bodies and our souls, becoming one? Dr. Mercer's rational mind short back.
Misty shivered and slowly turned her head, her eyes almost glassy and unfocused as she blinked and trembled again.
“Just a moment more Misty - “ Dr. Mercer hurriedly fetched the small bottle of lube and generously applied the slick, stick liquid to his member.
As he then moved to the bed and lay down, with some awkwardness, half pulled, half helped Misty up onto the bed, placing her long feet on either side of his hips, her paws gesticulating slowly.
“I'm... scared...” Misty finally got out, as she sniffled and looked down at him, before placing her paws on his chest.
“I know Misty, I'm scared as well, now, ease forward a little my love...” Dr. Mercer murmured, carefully positioning himself against her cloaca folds.
She's so warm – and I've only just brushed against her cloaca, how hot is a doe therian? I want our lovemaking to be...
With a gasp, Dr Mercer felt himself sheathed inside Misty's body – the incredible warmth and slickness, aided by the lubricant, making him cry out in surprise, pleasure and fear at what she'd just done.
Misty screamed, a loud, primal cry of terror and fright as her virginity was taken in one swift, painful moment and her head snapped backwards, her ears flattened and her spine crackled from the base of her skull to her tail.
“Misty!” Dr Mercer moaned, his eyes wide as he reached up to try and push her away, and then he gasped in terror.
Iron-like paws locked around his wrists and slammed his hands down beside his head, as Misty's head lowered and a cruel, baleful gaze from behind ink-black eyes looked down at him.
“No, no, Misty, this isn't who you are, this isn't what you are - “Dr Mercer screamed in terror, unable to move as fear paralysed him. “Someone, oh for the love of the gods, SOMEONE HELP ME PLEASE...”
Misty's eyes narrowed behind their lids, as she tilted her head to the side and her head slashed downwards...
Dr. Mercer's screams fell silent, as he felt the sharp teeth almost effortlessly slice through skin and muscle – then the sickening feeling of blood sliding down his neck and then there was a loud, terrifying sucking sound and the pressure on the wound grew and grew, until consciousness fled – dragging his agonised body into darkness...
*
In the aftermath of the terrible encounter, Misty suddenly screamed and found herself back in control, horrified by the consequences of her actions. The realisation of what her darker self had done lay visibly beneath her – and in her mouth. Misty gagged and pulled her head away, staring in horror at the pale and unconscious human beneath her. Panic set in as she assessed the damage, her young mind overwhelmed with sickness-inducing terror.
Think, think now! Misty's mind screamed at her in terror. You know what you must do if you want to save your mate!
Without conscious thought, Misty held her wrist to her mouth and bit deep into it. Instantly, the hot iron-rich blood flooded her mouth, making her choke and gag, before she forced her wound against Dr. Mercer's – her infected blood mingling with his. As Misty struggled with her fear and horror, the distant cries and commotion went unheeded as she pressed her bloodied wrist against where she had bitten him.
Unaware that Misty hadn't fully succumbed to the darkness, the trio, gripped by their own fear and misunderstanding, acted swiftly to subdue her. They quickly injected her with enough sedative to put even a fully turned Therian to sleep, causing Misty to convulse and slump into unconsciousness.
Liam, Jackson and Rachel convinced that Misty had fully turned dark, decided to confine her in a secure room. The once tranquil refuge now was a hive of activity, fear and whispered rumours that spread uncontrollably amongst humans and Therians alike.
Unbeknownst to any of them, as Dr Owen tended to the wound on Dr Mercer's throat, none of them realised what had happened between Dr Owen and Misty – apart from the obvious, and quite compromising sight that Rachel, Liam and Jackson had seen...
Unconscious, and probably going to stay that way for hours, Dr Mercer was moved to the operating room where he was securely restrained, before Dr. Owen shuddered and left, turning off the lights and closing the door.
None of them knew the truth, only that one way or another, it'd be revealed in time...
