Terry's mind wasn't focused on the road ahead of him, instead he had his head down and his nose buried in his pokedex. Not that he was really reading it, instead his mind was focused on the gym battle he had just completely botched. He had come in overconfident, not even bothering to find out what the leader's specially was. Turned out that of his whole team only his charmeleon wasn't weak against the collection of bug-types in the gym. By the time he had made it to the leader two of his 'mon had been knocked out and the rest were all injured. He hardly even scratched the gym leaders'.

Underpowered and a bad type match, it was everything his older sister had warned him to avoid before he had left home. Of course he hadn't listened to her, just because she had managed to win every badge in the Vanover region and defeated three of the elite four, why would he pay any attention to a thing she said? To make it ever worse the first few gyms had been a cakewalk, he hardly had broken a sweat, just rolling right over the gym leaders.

He needed a pokemon that was strong against bug-types, and just having his charmeleon wasn't going to be enough. He was sure he could find some pokemon in the wild that would help, but he didn't even know what the local species were.

His mind was so focused on the problem that he walked right into someone who was standing on the side of the road. He let out a yelp and tumbled over the person, his pokedex flying through the air as he landed on top of them. The impact knocked the wind out of him and made his head spin for a few moments.

"Are you okay?" the person under him asked.

Terry shook his head to clear it, his eyes focusing on a woman pinned to the ground under him. She was about his mother's age, with short curly red hair that stuck out in all directions. She was wearing a black and dark blue hoodie that was zipped up to her chin. "I'm fine," he said, climbing off of her. "What about yourself?"

She laughed as she sat up. "Oh, I've had worse hits over the year, back when I was on my own pokemon adventure." She picked up the fallen pokedex and handed it to him. "Though back then we started at ten, not fifteen."

"I'm sorry about that," he said helping her to her feet. "I was just a bit distracted."

The woman nodded and brushed off her pants. "Distracted, nose in a pokedex and coming from Chilack. Wild guess, Dylan and his bug-types ran roughshod over you?"

That made him blush a bit as he nodded, his hand reaching back to where he had his pokeballs clipped onto his belt. "Yeah, I don't think I even scratched him. I need something that's strong against bug-types."

Her eyes lit up and she reached into the pocket of her hoodie. "I have a swellow I can trade, she's a flying -type so she'll be exactly what you need," she said, offering out a standard pokeball. "I caught her a few days ago and hadn't gotten a chance to do any training with her."

"Oh, that would be perfect! What would you trade her for?" he asked, his eyes not leaving the pokeball in her hand.

She thought about it for a few seconds. "Well, I have a bit of a pest problem in my garden. Do you have any ground-types?"

Terry finally looked away from the pokeball, smiling as he reached back to his own collection, counting back until he found the right now. "I have a drilbur. He's a good fighter but never really meshed with my team, so he don't get out as much as he should."

The woman bounced her pokeball in her hand, thinking about the trade for a few seconds before nodding her head. "That sounds good," she said and offered him the ball.

He plucked it out of her hand and replaced it with the drilbur. "His name is Hans. He's a good pokemon, so take good care of him, okay?"

"Don't worry, I'll take good care of him. And you treat that swellow well, she's a special one," she said with a wink as she tucked the pokeball away in the pocket of her hoodie, then started walking back down the road, humming a little bit as she went.

Terry looked down at the pokeball in his hand. He imagined that he could feel the weight of the swellow inside of it, almost eager to be allowed out. Pulling out his pokedex he scanned the ball, watching as the status came up on the small screen. She was actually a bit smaller than average but that just meant that she was young, it almost meant it would be easier for her to learn some moves.

"Welcome to the team swellow, I suspect you're going to come in very handy in the future," he said and clipped the pokeball to his belt. He wasn't sure what he was going to name her, it always took some time to come up with a good name for them. The only exception was his charmander, he had gotten her in trade and she had already been named Thea. The name seemed to fit her, and she was a good in a battle... though he still preferred grass-types.

At least she was at full health so he could bring her out the next time he ran into a wild pokemon. Her move-set wasn't too surprising, a couple attack movies and a growl so there was a lot of room for her to grow while they trained.

All things considered it wasn't a bad trade, and combining her with Thea should provide him with a good defense against the gym. He would have to stock up on healing items but that was always true. Carefully he stepped off the road and onto the grass, walking gingerly through it, careful to avoid the occasional hole or patches of mud until he came upon a large patch that was almost waist high to him.

"Okay swellow, let's see what you can do," he said, pulling her pokeball of his belt and holding it at the ready. He had only taken a dozen steps into the grass before something leapt out at him, letting out a sharp cry in the process.

Terry quickly backpedaled and threw his pokeball even as he registered the familiar shape of a rattata. The pokeball bounced onto the ground and opened with a pop and a rush of power, the light escaping from it reforming into the swellow. She was an attractive bird, with dark blue along her back and wings while her feet and chest were bright red.

She turned her head around to look at him, cocking it slightly to one side and gently clicking her beak. Her eyes were small and yellow, looking at him intently for a few moments before squawking "Swellow?"

Before he could respond the rattata attacked, taking a swipe at her wing. She pulled it out of the way, the small claws brushing through the edge of her feathers. Her head snapped around to glare at the smaller pokemon, her crest ruffling a bit. Without being commanded she jumped forward and took a swipe at him with her wing, causing the rattata to jump back. A moment later she leapt forward, hitting him on the chest with the sharp talons of her feet.

That seemed to knock the rattata for a loop, his claws falling through the air as he tried to strike back but hit nothing.

The swellow wasn't going to ignore an opening and jumped on him, hitting him across the side of his face with her wing, sending him fumbling back another foot. He wobbled from side to side for a few moments and then fainting onto the grass.

Terry smiled and did a fist pump. "That was great, I didn't even have to tell you what to do. You're awesome!"

The avian hopped towards the rattata, poking at him with the tip of her beak but the only response was for him to kick his feet at the air and let out a small squeak.

Terry squatted down next to her, looking closely at the wild pokemon. He had one in his storage box but had never done anything with him. He kept it more as trade fodder then for anything else, but then again if anyone wanted one they could find them almost anywhere in the region.

"I'm Terry by the way," he said, reaching out to pick up her pokeball from where it had fallen.

"Swellow," she responded, turning her head to look at him then back at the passed out rattata. She poked him in the side again and hopped a few inches closer.

"Come on, we should let him recover." He reset the pokeball as he spoke to her, preparing to return her to it.

The swellow cocked her head to the side and snapped her beak. "Swellow swell," she said, almost like she was put out by having fought the rodent. Then without saying another word she opened her beak wide and scoop up the rattata in it, hefting the pokemon in the air.

Terry took a step back, gasping in surprise as she gulped at the rodent, her throat rippling with each motion. The red feathers on her chest were pushing out, showing hints of dark skin as the other pokemon slid down her throat.

She rocked her head back and forth as the rattata's feet slide into her mouth, only the curled tail still visible. With a couple more gulps even that vanished into her beak, the only sign left of the rodent was the bulge in her stomach, pushing out against the white feathers on her belly. She shook her head and hopped around in place to look back at him. "Swellow!" she said with more than a little bit of pride.

"Wow," was about all he could say. He had never seen anything like that before. True some pokemon would eat other pokemon, they were animals after all, but not the ones with trainers and never whole like that. He didn't even know that any of the avian pokemon could eat something so large.

"That was amazing," he finally said, reaching out to run his hand across the feathers of her head. They were soft to the touch, almost like down, a few feathers came on his fingers, fluttering away to land on the grass. "Hum... maybe I should call you Downy?"

She shook her head at that.

Terry rubbed his chin, picking up one of the fallen fathers and spinning it around in his fingers. "Quill?"

That brought a soft cooing from her as she rubbed her head against his hand. A few moment later her eyes started to close as she quickly fell asleep, rolling forward onto her stuffed belly.

"I'll take that as a yes. Come on, let's get you home," he said, and called her back into the pokeball before tucking it onto his belt. If she could eat something like a rattata that was half her size, what else could she eat?

He pondered that as he walked back to the road, his hand resting on the edge of her pokeball. She really was a special pokemon and unlike anything he had ever heard of before. Was this a onetime event for her, or would she eat more pokemon?

Thinking about it more he unclipped her pokeball and scanned her again. There was the same three moves, with the fourth point listed as being empty. 'Eat' wasn't exactly on the list, or at least the list that the pokedex knew about, what would happen if it was a move that the pokedex didn't know about? Was that even possible?

Terry was still thinking about it when he made his camp for the night in a small field off the side of the road. He wasn't too far away from Chilack but he wasn't ready to go back to town just yet. He wanted to get more work in with his whole team, not just the swellow. He had to be ready when he returned to the gym.

One by one he pulled out his pokeballs and let all six of his pokemon free. The group started to nose at the swellow, getting a feel for her and how she smelled. Well everyone but Thea, the charmeleon instead was lighting the fire for them so they didn't get cold at night.

Quill had lost the bulge from her meal and seemed to be taller then he remembered, but that could be a trick from not being in the tall grass. Percy, his Riolu and his oldest team mate outside of his starter, walked over to the swellow and poked her belly with one blue finger. "Riolu?" he asked.

"Swellow," she replied, which seemed to satisfy the rest of the team as they settled down around the fire. Not for the first time Terry wished he could understand his pokemon, he could kind of get the gist of some of what they were saying but mostly it just sounded like their names.

Unrolling his sleeping bag he sat down on it and pulled out his satchel. He dug out a few berries for his team, and went around to give them each two, along with a candy. Quill was first, looking at the candy with a cocked head. Percy was next, smiling and giving him a small nod. Lontra was a quilladin, he had been chespin when they had teamed up, and he was Terry's first pokemon. Next was Orion, a skiddo, with a sharp pair of horns that had knocked out a number of wild pokemon. Thea, only took one of the berries and skipped the candy, she had never been a fan. Lastly was Flyer, a berloom he had gotten in trade early on, and who had a wicked kick if you weren't expecting it. She had demonstrated that on Terry a number of times before they finally figured out how to work together.

After the treats Lontra, Orion and Flyer curled up in a dog pile near the fire. Percy stretched out in the grass a few feet away, looking at the stars while Thea made a small nest across the fire from the others. Being a fire type while much of the rest of the team were grass types meant she was too hot for them.

The swellow sat down between the two groups, fluffing out her feathers and tucking her head under a wing. In a short time the whole team had fallen asleep, leaving Terry awake with his own thoughts. Sprawling out in his sleeping bag he looked up at the stars above him, watching them twinkle as the clouds drifted across the sky. He was going to miss the Han, but it seemed worth the trade and the drilbur probably would be happier working with the woman in her garden.

He always worried about the pokemon he traded away, he know almost every trainer cared deeply about their pokemon (unless they were a part of Team Omega, they were jerks) so they were in good hands, but that didn't completely settle his mind. It was with that worry that he found himself drifting off to sleep.

* * *

The glameow jumped him the moment he stepped into the tall grass, which sent Terry stumbling back away from the pokemon. He was still half asleep and hadn't even eaten so instead of calling for his team he found himself staring at the feline.

With a soft snarl the cat flicked its long tail and took another step forward, lifting a paw and flicking out the sharp claws... which it then made a show of carefully cleaning, but never took its eyes away from him.

Terry let out a low whistle, hoping to attraction the attention of his team. He wasn't sure that they had heard him at first so he started to climb up to his feet which brought another low his from the glameow. He froze in place, not sure what he was going to do but that question was answered as his Percy vaulted over him, using his head as a springboard. With a low growl the riolu flew through the air and simply punched the feline in the side of his head.

A moment later Quill swopped in after him, dive-bombing the wild pokemon. The cat was ready this time, leaping in the air trying to catch the bird in his paws but the swellow pulled quickly away, avoiding the attack.

Orion rushed in after that, plowing into the glameow horns first, sending the cat flying back into the grass and landing with a hard thump. Next up was Flyre. She leapt into the grass, the cap of her mushroom head bobbing up and down until a moment later the feline came flying back out to land at Terry's feet. It let out one last forlorn whimper and fainted.

All in all the battle, such as it was, had taken no more than half a minute, the whole team working together to take care of the wild pokemon. It would have been nice if they could deal with gym battles like that, but they had a pesky one-on-one rule.

"Thanks guys," he said, nodding to the team. They responded with a chorus of cries as they crowded around him for a few moments. All but the swellow who had moved over to the glameow and was clicking her beak.

He chuckled a bit and poked the cat with his foot then looked at his bird. "If you're hungry, go on ahead," he said.

Quill fluffed out her wings and looked up at him with a cry of "Swellow!" then opened her beak up and started eating the glameow, starting with the long tail. It slid past her beak without any effort, followed by the hindquarters.

The rest of his team had stopped, watching the whole thing almost silently as she gulped down the feline, the long lithe body sliding easily through her stretched beak and down into her throat, the feathers ruffling out in to show the shape of the devoured pokemon.

The swellow threw her head back and gulped one last time, the feline's head vanishing down her throat. With a contented sigh she dropped to the ground and rolled onto her back, falling into a light sleep a few moments later.

Thea leaned down and nosed Terry on the side of his neck. "Char?" she asked.

He shrugged, then reached up and ran a hand over the top of her snout. "I guess that's her special move," he said.

The charmelon rolled her eyes and snorted. The rest of his team were standing just looking at the swellow as she snored, her belly slowly decreasing in size with each passing moment. It seemed like she was growing larger at the same time.

He pulled out her pokeball and collected her, then looked at the rest of his team. "We should probably get moving, you all need some more work before we can take the gym again," he told them.

The other pokemon looked between each other then back at him before nodding. One by one he returned them all to their pokeballs and clipped them to his belt, until only Lontra was left. The grass pokemon was the one he had started with so many months ago, back when he was a chespin. He was still the excitable little guy he always was, just now with some extra protection.

He bent down until he was almost on the same level. "What do you think of the swellow?"

"Quill..." he replied with a sigh and a slight look at the ground. "Quilladin," he added.

"Kind of creped out by the whole eating thing, huh?"

"Quill!"

Terry thought about it for a few seconds. "Well, I've never seen a pokemon do that before, and it seems to be her finisher of choice. Honestly if it keeps us winning it might be worth it, and you guys all work well as a team.

"Quilladin," the pokemon cautioned.

"What's the worst that could happen?" he asked, patting his teammate on the top of his head. "Don't worry, I'll keep her on a short leash."

The pokemon rolled his eyes and tapped his stubby tail against the ground.

"Come on, let's get going," he said, pulling out the pokeball and returning the quilladin to it. He attached it to his belt and went back to his camp site, cleaning it up before he moved on. The last thing he wanted to do was leave a mess or start a fire.

As he started down the road he wondered what the next pokemon they would encounter would be. He would like to fight against some bug-types just to get his team up to speed on fighting them. He also wanted to see how the swellow fought against something of about the same strength as her. He was also wondering what the largest pokemon she could eat was.

Some answers came a few hours later when he came upon a vulpix chasing after a linoone. As soon as he saw the fox he threw out Percy's pokeball, letting the blue pokemon ambush the vulpix and send it to the ground. After a couple of hits he tag teamed the swellow in, and just as before once the pokemon was knocked out the bird ate it, this time even faster than before. It seemed like after a trio of quick gulps the little fox's tails were vanishing into her gullet.

The next pokemon to end up inside Quill was a raichu. This one turned out to be the first real hard battle his newest pokemon had to deal with. It seemed like the electrical rodent could counter every single attack she could throw at it and eventually he had to bring out Thea to knock it out. Of course that didn't seem to dissuade the swellow in the least as she ate the raichu as well, small sparks flying out of her beak as she gulped him down.

While they were setting up camp he stumbled upon a flaaffy, it was grazing on the tall grass and he almost tripped over it. That caused it to let out a cry and try to attack him but came up short. He took a few steps back and threw out the swellow. This one was weaker then the raichu, so would be easier for her to deal with.

Calling it easy was an understatement. Quill came out of her pokeball with a flash and looked down at the flaaffy, her head cocked to the side. She had grown quite a bit in the last couple of days, having nearly doubled in size from her first battle.

"Quick attack," he ordered. With a snap of her wings she leapt upon the flaaffy. The first hit sent it sprawling backwards, almost out cold. Apparently in this case almost was good enough for the swellow as she pounced on the flaaffy and stuffed its head into her mouth. After a few moments the smaller pokemon started to struggle but was already halfway down her throat, and as she threw her head back the kicking legs seemed to make the other pokemon go down even faster.

The round tip of the flaaffy's tail vanished past her beak and belched as her belly wiggled. Though the wiggling only lasted a few more moments before finally fading away. Contented she relaxed down next to the camp and cooed happily as she digested.

Terry shook his head and reached out to run his fingers along the stretched out feathers of her belly. "You keep eating like this, you're going to evolve really quickly," he said. She didn't have anything to say in reply to that, instead she just continued to coo.

He picked her up and carried her towards the campfire, setting her down with the rest of his team. They all looked at her then all took a step back.

"Do you think we're ready to try the gym again?" he asked.

The pokemon all looked at each other then as a group shook their heads. Thea making a point to look towards the sleeping swellow and flick her tail out, the fire swaying behind her.

"Well, we'll start heading back to town tomorrow and see how much training we can get in. Hopefully by the time we make it back we'll be ready to take them on." he said as he dropped down onto his sleeping bag. "At the very least we'll be able to get further next time."

"Charmeleon," Thea said, sounding a bit dejected by the prospect.

Terry chuckled and rolled onto his side facing the fire. "Don't worry, we'll beat the gym eventually. With you and Quill leading the charge with the rest of the team backing you up I'm sure we'll make it through." A few moments later he fell into a deep sleep.

* * *

When the morning came it brought with it the threat of rain, the sky was dark and heavy as the black clouds rolled in. He decided not to waste any time and skipped his own breakfast to break camp, finishing it before his team was even awake. Other then Quill, she was up and watching him as he worked.

Once the camp was put away and cleaned up he walked over to her, rubbing the top of her head. She now came up to his waist. If he had to guess he would say she was at least a foot taller than when he had traded for her. In fact she was almost bigger than the rest of the team, only Thea and the Flyer were larger then her, and not by much.

"You're growing fast," he mused. "We should feed you something bigger."

"Swellow!" she agreed, hopping up into the air then fluttering back down.

He chuckled and started collecting the rest of the team, letting them keep sleeping inside their pokeballs, picking up the swellow last. Her pokeball was heavy in his hand, like he could almost feel her extra mass tucked inside of it.

A short time later he came upon a trampled down section of the tall grass. Stepping into it he was surprised to find an espeon fainted in the middle of it. The pokemon was sprawled out on its back, four paws in the air and head cocked to the side. The jewel in the center of its head was shining dimly in the overcast sunlight.

He walked over and nudged it with his toe, but all he got was a squeak in return. Shrugging he pulled the swellow out. The moment she popped out of her ball she came to a stop, straddling the espeon and looking down at the prone from. She cocked her head to the side then looked back at Terry.

"Hey, free meal," he said with a shrug.

That seemed to be enough for her, and she started eating the psychic pokemon. He shrugged and turned away, ignoring her as she ate. It might have been worth waiting for the espeon to wake up so he could capture it, it would have been good for a trade, but he didn't know how long that could take. Instead it was better just to use it to feed Quill.

Sooner than he had expected she was back at his side, her gut bulging outwards against the white feathers of her belly. He ran his fingers across the top of her head and chuckled. "Maybe I should give you a different name. How about Hoover?" he mused.

"Low," she said, drawing it out to make it clear that she really didn't care for the idea, or maybe just the name.

He chuckled and recalled her back into her pokeball, tucking it onto his belt. He rather liked how big she was getting, he had never seen a swellow that large before so that would make her even more special, more than just her eating made her. Maybe if she got big enough he could ride on her back. That would be a fun way to get around. Most advanced trainers had some way to fly with their pokemon, but no one at his level.

A few moments later he felt the first drops of rain falling on him. He took out a small umbrella from his backpack and hurried up his pace, hoping he could find some sort of shelter before the rain got too bad. Unfortunately the wind started to pick up, whipping the rain sideways and under his umbrella soaking him in only a few minutes.

Finally he found a grove of trees tucked off the side of the road. The canopy was thick and blocked out most of the rain, creating a dry area. It wouldn't work for starting a fire, but he could always pull Thea out and use her tail fire to keep warm.

He hurried across the grass and ducked under the low hanging canopy only to discover that it was already occupied. A young boy, maybe ten, was sitting under the tree with his legs crossed and watching the rain fall past the leaves. As soon as Terry came in the kid looked up at him then down to the pokeballs on his belt.

"Hey, you're a trainer too," he said, opening his windbreaker to show the three pokeballs hanging on the inside.

"Yep," he said with a bit of pride.

"You want to battle?" the kid said, leaping up to his feet and pulling out a pokeball.

Terry chuckled, there was one thing about trainers, they always wanted to have a battle, himself included. "Sure kid," he said. He was young and didn't have many so he probably didn't have to stronger of pokemon, so he didn't want to start too heavy, it wasn't worth squashing the kid.

He pulled out pokeball for Orion, holding it in his hand as he and the kid moved further back into the trees where the clearing was larger. The back of the grove was open, revealing a gully behind it with about a ten foot drop into a small stream. Luckily the wind wasn't coming from that direction so it was dry back there, a good place for a battle.

"Ready?" he asked.

The kid nodded his head and then flung out his pokeball, Terry doing the same. As his skiddo snapped into existence he saw what the small goat was up against, a braixen; a fire-type and close to the same level as his pokemon, but being a grass type he was at a disadvantage.

The fox seemed to know this, his thin muzzle pulling into a knowing smile before he lunched forward and let loose a fire spin. The ring of flame shot through the air and hit his skiddo square in the face, the leaves along his back singed from the blow as he stumbled backwards. One shot and he was almost two thirds of the way down on health.

"Razor leaf," he snapped, reaching onto his belt to take out another pokeball. Orion did as he was told, sending a rain of sharp edged leaves down onto the braixen but it didn't even seem to faze the fire type, his thick fur taking every blow with ease.

The next attack was almost ridiculous in its simplicity. The vulpine leapt forward, pulling the stick free from the fur of his tail and hit the skiddo with it right on the nose. It hardly seemed like a hard hit at all, but the little goat's eyes rolled back and he fainted.

He called the skiddo back to his pokeball then threw out the new one. He had planned to send out Percy as fighting types weren't weak against the fire, but instead he found Quill appearing between them. The large avian was almost a foot taller than the braixen, and her appearance caused the other pokemon to take a step back, putting the stick back into his tail.

"Wing Attack," he ordered. She leapt into the air, heading towards the fox. He responded with another fire spin which hit her in the chest and simply faded away, hardly doing more than putting a few feathers out of place.

She came down on the braixen, snapping her wing out and striking him across the head, snapping it to the side and sending him stumbling back. Taking the advantage she reeled around and came back to hit him again, causing him to step back further.

The kid let out a yell and snapped out an order, but Terry didn't hear it, instead he watched as the fox twisted and spun in place, a blast of fire ripping off his tail and hitting swellow across the side and forcing her to crash to the ground.

That stunned her for a few moments, allowing the braixen to get in another attack with his stick, though it also didn't do that much to her except bring her back to her senses. She climbed to her feet, digging them into the dirt and then leapt forward, slamming her talons into the fox with a quick attack.

With a groan the braixen dropped to the ground, out cold.

With a tutting sound the kid pulled out a pokeball, getting ready to bring out another pokemon when Quill leapt upon the unconscious vulpine and swallowed his tail in one go, the stick in it not even bother her in the least.

Both he and the kid jumped forward at this. "No, don't eat that one," he ordered while the kid let out a scream and rushed towards his pokemon.

Terry realized a few seconds too late that the kid wasn't rushing towards his pokemon, but him, hitting him with a shoulder in the gut and causing him to stumbling backwards. Without warning he found the ground falling away under him and he fell back into the gully, landing with a heavy splash in the stream below.

The swellow didn't seem to care that her trainer had gone, she was just focused on eating the fire-type in front of her. She wasn't even bothered when the younger trainer started to pound his fists on her side. He wasn't strong enough to do more than annoy her.

Giving up that tactic he instead grab the braixen's front paws, trying to pull him back out of her beak, but that wasn't going to happen. Quill was not going to give up a meal she had earned, no matter what! Instead she gulped down harder, pulling the pokemon's head into her beak, already feeling it bulging inside of her.

"Give him back!" the kid yelled, trying to pull the vulpine free.

The swellow swallowed again, and suddenly she found himself with the human's hands inside of her beak. He let out a cry at this and finally let go of his pokemon, but the swellow wasn't going to let go of him, and with a gulp pulled the kid's arms down into his mouth.

"No, don't!" he cried out, the words being muffled as the swellow opened her beak wide and swallowed down his head and shoulders. She had to shift her stance to keep him going down easy, but she wasn't going to give up now. Bracing herself she threw her head back, lifting the struggling boy up into the air and let gravity help with her meal.

It only took three more large swallows before the trainer vanished down her beak, leaving a huge bulge in her belly. He kept struggling for a bit longer, but a heavy belch removed the excess air and soon after her belly quieted down.

Cooing in contentment she rocked forward to lay on her bulging belly, allowing the warmth of sleep to take her before her trainer climbed back out of the gully.

Terry's clothing was soaked and covered with mud, the fabric stained dark with it. He struggled back under the grove of trees, pissed at everything that happened and at his pokemon.

He walked up to the swellow's side and glared down at her. Judging by the size of her belly, the braixen hadn't gotten free. It must have scared the kid off as there was no sign of him anywhere in the small grove of trees.

"I'm going to have to have at talk with you about which pokemon you can and can't eat," he said, then with a sigh he put her back into her pokeball and let Thea out, using her to dry off while waiting out the rest of the rain.

* * *

The road was slick with mud, making Terry's feet stick with each step he took. He had hoped to get back to town once the rain had stopped but he had hardly gotten more than a mile by sundown. The road was a soggy mess and he wasn't going to be getting back to town before dark. Another night camping, and with the rain it wasn't going to be all that comfortable.

As the sun was starting to set he found a small roofed enclosure by the side of the road. The floor was made of cement and there was a fire pit just outside. Everything was damp but there was no standing water and the slanted roof had helped keep it out of the rain. On the edge of one poll was a simple white O on a blue background, the logo of team Omega. Unlike other teams he had heard about: Team Rocket, Team Magma or Team Flare, Team Omega seemed less 'evil' and more just helpful. True they would cheat in pokemon battles, but they didn't do anything truly bad, at least not that he had heard of.

Walking up to the enclosure he was surprised to see that it wasn't empty, there was a single lopunny resting inside. She was curled up around herself and sleeping soundly. His hand went to his belt, reaching for one pokeball. He almost grabbed Quill but after a moment moved to grab Thea. As good as the swellow was, she had eaten too much already that day.

He released the charmeleon next to the lopunny and pointed at her. "Wake her up if you can?" he asked.

Thea rolled her eyes and walked over, poking the lopunny with one toe. The moment she made contact the rabbit pokemon jumped up, wide awake and glaring at the smaller charmeleon, then took a swipe at her, causing her to stumble back.

Terry didn't even have to tell Thea what to do, she quickly righter herself and attacking with a flame burst, following it up with leap forward and hitting her with a good old fashioned scratch attack. The lopunny mustn't have been very powerful as she took two steps back and fell to the concrete, fainting out cold.

He was about to complement Thea on the quick battle when the charmeleon's skin started to glow. It radiated out from all around her as she began to evolve. Her form was growing with every passing second, forcing him to take a few quick steps backward until his back hit one of the polls. He stood there and watched as the light became blinding then started to fade away, revealing Thea was now a charizard. What he didn't notice was Quill's pokeball rocking slightly before popping open, putting the large avian down just outside of the enclosure.

Thea stretched out her new wings, the fire on her tail growing brightly in the twilight. "Charizard!!" she bellowed out, sending a small gout of flame out the open wall of the shelter and over the road. She shook her head and then sat down with a thud, starting to investigate her new body.

"Wow, you look great," he said, walking over to his new pokemon, surprised adjust how large the dragon was. She was actually a couple inches taller than he was! Of course with her new size it meant there wasn't much room for anyone but the two of them in the shelter so he couldn't let the rest of the pokemon out.

Quill watched all this, her head cocked to the side but staying just outside the shelter. She looked between her trainer and the charizard before turning her attention to the fainted lopunny laying just inside the enclosure. She moved quickly around to the rabbit, grabbing her legs with her beak and pulling her off the cement platform. Once she had the other pokemon in the grass she started eating her, taking her time to enjoy the softness of her fur. She tasted kind of earthy, like she had been out in the mud, but that was okay. It wasn't a bad flavor at all.

While she slowly ate the bunny, Terry set up his camp for the night, the lopunny already lost from his mind. Without her trainer watching over her she took her time with her meal, allowing herself to luxuriate in the taste and texture of the pokemon even as she slid in past her beak and down her throat. The lopunny was almost as big as she was, so it took a long time to eat her, but she managed it, working it down gulp by gulp until the last of her ears vanished into the swellow's ravenous belly.

Contented with her meal she walked back to where her trainer was sleeping, laying on top of his sleeping bag with the charizard curled up at his side. She moved carefully up to him, her talons tapping against the cement as she searched out her pokeball. It was hard to tell which one was hers and she had to tap all six with her beak until she found the right one. With a quick tap on the front she popped it open and in a flash of light was pulled back inside.

A few moments later the pokeball popped open again and Quill spilled back out, clicking her beak and fluttering her wings in excitement. She knew how to get out whenever she wanted now, she didn't have to wait for her trainer to let her free to eat! With a happy coo she tapped the pokeball and returned back into it again, rather pleased with herself and the outcome of the day's meals while looking forward to what the next day would bring.

It took Terry much of the next day to make it back to town, getting in just after the gym had closed up for the night. Luckily there was a trainer hostel just outside of the pokemon center and they were more than happy to put him and his team up for the night. There was nothing like camping on the road to make a person appreciate a hot meal and a warm shower, even more so after the thick mud that covered the road all the way into town.

He had a lot on his mind, with a charizard and a swellow in his team he had a much better chance of taking on the local gym. The bug-types wouldn't last very long against the pair of them, and if he kept stocked up on healing items neither one of them should go down. Still, there were three trainers before the gym leader, each one with four pokemon each, and the leader himself had a full six. It was going to be a battle of attrition instead of strength, though the strength wasn't going to hurt!

The only downside of staying at the hostel was that there was no room to let his pokemon free at night, well no more than one of his smallest but that didn't seem very fair to him. Instead he found himself laying on his bunk, his hands crossed on his stomach as he looked up at the plain ceiling. His mind went back to Quill and how she had eaten the other trainer's braixen. He needed to teach her to only eat the wild pokemon, not the trained ones. Until then there was no way he could allow her to finish of another trainer's pokemon. It was going to be hard as she was going to be an important part of dealing with the gym.

With that on his mind he found himself drifting off to sleep, starting to snore a few minutes later. A couple of moments after that the swellow's pokeball popped open and she emerged in the center of the room. She looked around, her eyes glittering in the dim light as she took in her soundings. The small room was big enough for two people, and between her and her trainer they nearly filled it. On the back wall was a window, big enough that a person could crawl out of in case of an emergency.

She pried the window open with her beak, pushing it upwards and then knocking the screen free. She climbed out onto the sill and leapt out the window, her wings sapping out as she took to the air. The room was on the second floor, allowing her to drop slightly before rising up to gain altitude. She spun lazily over the building, using what little thermals there were to lift up over the town.

The night was silent around her, the lights of the city were dim under her and fading away quickly past the city limits. She enjoyed the feeling of the wind under her wings and through her feathers. Even she was surprised at how easily the air held her up at her new size, almost like it wanted her to fly.

Rising up she flew around the outskirts of the town, her stomach rumbling with hunger. She scanned the ground below her, looking for other pokemon she could eat, or any trainers small enough that she could swallow. Soon she saw a flicker of movement in the braches of a large tree a short distance outside of town.

Slowly she circled around the tree, coming in lower and lower until the leaves on the topmost branches were brushing against the white feathers of her belly. As she skimmed over it she heard the cries of a number of other swellows and even a group of taillows mixed in. She let out a cry of her own and then came to a land in the tree, the branches sagging under her weight but still holding her.

About a dozen avian pokemon came up to look at her, investigating with curious cheeps and coos. She towered over them, almost three times their size of the normal swellows, and if all four of the taillows stood on each other they wouldn't come up to her crest.

One of the swellows hopped up closer to her. Instead of the usual dark blue and reds, he feathers were green and gold. A shiny, and apparently the leader of the flock. He took another hop forward and cocked his head to the side, before letting out a quick squawk.

She didn't let him finish, instead she simply lunged forward and grabbed the shiny in her beak. While the rest of the flock watched she threw her head back and swallowed him down in a single gulp, his body hardly making a bulge under her feathers.

Before the flock could reach she lept onto the taillows, each one easily sitting in her beak and hardly making for a mouthful. She had eaten two of the four before the other pokemon finally started to panic and began to fly away. The all took to the air, but the remaining taillows weren't fast enough, and she caught them in her talons. With a flash of her wing she pulled down one of the other swellows and pulled him close to her.

The pair of taillows vanished in moments, the last tail feather had barely disappearing into her throat when she turned to the swellow under her wing. He struggled and cried against her, but wasn't able to get free of her tight grip. She cooed softly at him before opening her beak and giving him one last view into the depths of her throat before he slid down it. He went with only a little protest, but it wasn't enough to bother her.

After the half dozen pokemon she was starting to feel full but she knew there was still room enough for the rest of the flock. With a kick of her legs Quill leapt back into the air, the tree branch snapping up the moment her weight was off of it, sending a shower of leaves towards the ground. The rest of the flock was circling above the tree, crying out for the missing members in the group in hopes they would return. If she had her way the only way the flock would be reunited was in her stomach.

She flew out away from the tree, climbing up until she was above the rest of the flock, then without even making a sound she dove downwards, aiming herself carefully at them. She caught three in a single pass, one went right into her beak, her momentum forcing the swellow down her throat without even having to swallow. The other two were held tightly in her talons.

Quickly she climbed back up into the air, one by one eating the pair she had caught before turning back. The last three were finally flying away from the tree, pulled tightly together almost wingtip to wingtip. That wasn't going to be enough to get away from her as she followed after them, gaining quickly on them.

When she was only a few feet away she let out a squawk. All three of them looked back and saw her almost on their tails then tried to scatter. Unfortunately they all went in different directions and instead of flying away they crashed into each other and tumbling towards the ground. She dove after them and snapped at them with her beak, catching the tail of one and the wings of another, the third one being caught under the edge of her wing.

The massive swellow dropped down to the ground, the last of her prey held tightly against her feathers. She lifted one talon and used it to push the pair hanging from her beak inside, staining to take both of them at once. The last one following a few moments later, leaving her feeling incredibly full.

Quill took a moment to preen herself as her meal settled, her belly bulging out wide between her legs, forcing them slightly apart. Once everything stopped shifting and moving, she leapt back into the air and returned to the hostel, working her way back in and returning herself to her pokeball where she slept off the rest of her late night meal.

Terry braced himself as the ariados came down, slamming hard into his Percy and throwing the riolu back into his trainers and knocking him back as well. He looked down at the pokemon, seeing the bruising across his face and nose, his red eyes tinged with purple. The oddly cute looking bug had poisoned him... and he hadn't thought to stock up on more antidote and had already gone through what little he had with him.

"Okay, come on back," he said pulling out the empty pokeball and pointed it towards the pokemon. The riolu gave him a defeated look before he was pulled back in. The fighting type had been so sure he could take the ariados but just couldn't pull it off. Most of his team was in bad shape; Orion had been knocked out on the first trainer, and Flyer and finished that off the trainer and tag teamed with Lontra on the next. The last trainer had knocked out his starter and now had put his riolu out of action. Luckily the ariados was her last pokemon and was looking pretty beat up as well.

He grabbed Thea's pokeball and bounced it in his hand. "Well, I was hoping to keep you as a surprise for the gym leader. Oh well," he mused as he threw her out. She formed out of the energy, sending a gout of flame high into the air before turning her attention to the ariados.

The insect lunged with its stinger, but Thea spun around and hit it right across the face with her tail. It sent the bug flying backwards and falling to the ground, out cold.

With a nod the trainer collected her pokemon and motioned towards the back of the gym. "Dylan is waiting for you," she said.

"Thanks," he said, nodding to her then motioning for Thea as together they walked into main part of the gym. It wasn't as fancy as some of the other gym he had be in, no moving platforms or water features, instead it was just a simple flat gym with a wooden floor marked with a battle arena.

The gym leader was waiting there for them, his scyther standing at his side and sizing up Thea.

Dylan took a step forward and nodded a bit. "I see you've improved your line up. You ready to try me again?"

"I wouldn't be here if I wasn't," he replied with a chuckle.

The older man nodded and smiled. "Well, good luck. I do hope you win, but you're going to have to work for it," he said with a smirk then monitored for his pokemon to move into the arena.

The scyther took a few steps forward into the center of the marked arena. Thea following a few moments after, stopping at the marked position. They two large pokemon looked between each other, sizing each other up as they waited for the command to start the battle.

Dylan smiled. "Fury Cutter," he snapped and the scyther leapt forward, swinging out with one hard wing and hitting Thea in the chest, but it hardly doing any more the annoy her. Of course that was just the warm up and the next attack would be stronger.

He was about to order Thea to start her counter attack when he heard the familiar sound of a pokeball opening. He looked up to the gym leader, trying to see what was happening, but he looked stunned and was quickly taking a step back. Terry spun around and found himself face to feather with Quill. The swellow was bigger than he remembered, towering two feet over him, or more.

"What..." he sputtered, unable to find any more words as he spat out a few red feathers.

She cocked her head and fanned her wings out. "Swellow," she said then leapt high into the air, her back almost reaching the ceiling twenty feet above them. She hovered for a moment, then came back down towards the scyther, her beak opened wide as she let out a cry. The bug-type had no idea what hit him, vanishing down her throat as she crashed into the ground. Throwing her head back she swallowed the other pokemon and then licked her beak.

Dylan reacted in a moment, throwing out the rest of his pokemon to attack her. Three of the pokeballs opened to reveal a pinsir, a heracross and a rather angry looking scizor. The other two were caught by the swellow before they opened, vanishing into her stomach. There was the muffled sound of the pokeballs opening inside of her and she let out a belch.

The trio of pokemon rushed at her and she simply knocked them down with a snap of her wing. She towered over them, taller than even a minute before and seemed to be growing as Terry watched. The heracross was the first back to his feet, attacking again only to hit her chest and bounced off. She pinned him down to the ground with her large talon then snapped at the pinsir.

The pinsir snapped back but was simply too close. She slammed her head into his horns, knocking him onto his back then shoved him into her mouth to swallow him. The scizor took that as an opening to attack, hitting her square in the chest and making her stumble back against the downed heracross, but it did nothing to save the pinsir.

"Stop it!" Terry ordered, but his pokemon simply ignored him. "Thea, do something!"

The charizard nodded and blew a gout of flame at the swellow. It hit right between her twin tails and rolled up along her back, hardly even singing her feathers. She ignored it for the moment, instead grabbed the still stunned heracross and throwing it in the air. The big beetle spun in the air and arched back down, landing right into her open beak and vanishing with a single gulp.

She was still growing, her feathers becoming larger by the moment as her talons sunk into the wooden floor of the gym. Licking her lips she turned her attention to the angry scizor who had simply been frozen in place, watching with could have been a look of horror. He turned to Dylan with a look of panic.

"Run!" the gym leader yelled, then started rushing towards the door to the gym.

Apparently the swellow was not going to be having any of that as she leapt forward and knocked both the gym leader and his last pokemon off their feet with a snap of her wing. The pair crashed together and rolled across the gym floor tangled in each other's limbs.

She didn't care, she just leaned down and snapped up the pair of them, both of them sliding down her throat as one large meal and vanishing a few moments later.

"No, no, stop eating everything!" he yelled, rushing towards the swellow, Thea at his side. She spun around in place, glaring at him with her bright gold eyes. "Swellow," she said, the sound of the word rumbling through the gym as she stood over him, almost double his height.

"You have stop, you can't do this!"

The look she gave him made it perfectly clear that she believed that she could do it and had no intention of stopping anytime soon. He reached for her pokeball, but the moment his hand went for his belt she head butted him, sending him sliding across the floor. Leaping into the air she came crashing down above him, her massive feet on each side of his body the wood buckling under her talons. She snapped her wings out as she landed, hitting Thea and sending her tumbling across the gym.

She let out a squawk and bent her head down, her tongue flicking out and wrapping around her pokeball, pulling it off his belt and into her beak. She did the same thing with the rest of his collection, full and empty, until the remainder of his team had been pulled into her beak.

Opening her mouth up, she showed him the six balls resting on her tongue, then she swallowed them down. He could hear them opening as they landed in her belly, just another meal to her.

Then she bent down to look at him, her beak pressing up against his face as her head cocked to the side. Her tongue flicked out and ran over his face, leaving it wet and cold, then with a smirk she opened her beak wide, but instead turned to look at Thea.

The charizard rushed forward and took to the air for a moment before crashing into the swellow's side with all the force she could muster, but it did nothing to even phase the giant bird. Instead she opened her wing and brought it crashing down on the fire type, sending her hard to the floor right next to Terry.

Carefully she pushed pokemon and trainer together and then licked them both before opening her beak again. Thea wrapped her arms around her trainer, holding him to her as the large beak grew ever closer then suddenly pressed down over the both of them. She held them tightly with her beak and threw her head back, allowing gravity to pull the pair of them down her threat and into her belly to join the rest of his team.

The swellow let out a massive belch as her meal settled down to digest. Stretching her wings out she felt them growing by the moment until they brushed against the walls of the gym. Cooing to herself she turned around, looking at a group of trainers who were staring at her in shock and horror.

With a snort and a cry she leapt into the air, her back crashing into the roof of the gym before breaking through it, the structure collapsing in her wake as she took to the air. She had no idea how big she was anymore, bigger than almost any of the buildings around her or any of the pokemon she saw taking the air to rush towards her.

None of them were very large compared to her and with a twist of her wing she sent a gust of air at them, blowing them all back to the ground.

She dropped down among the group of trainers who were trying to attack her, their pokemon spreading out all around her. She bent down and snapped up a whole small team at once so fast she couldn't even see what sort of pokemon they were. She was able to take the next team along with the trainer without much more effort.

People were starting to panic, the cries of trainers and pokemon filling the air. A pair of dragonites dive-bombed her, they seemed to be a mated pair and well trained as they moved almost as one. Both of them hitting her with strong wing attack that sent her stumbling back a few steps then broke off in different directions keeping just out of reach.

Another pokemon attacked her, this one a seviper; the serpent lunging under her and knocking her off of her feet. That was followed up by a powerful blast of water from a lapras which soaked her and her feathers while at the same time washing away a number of the smaller pokemon.

She shook her head, getting her wits about her as she looked at the four pokemon circling her. A serperior and a dragonair joining in the group. They were all massive pokemon but she towered over all of them and she wasn't going to let them take her down.

The seviper lunged at her again, but this time she was ready, jumping up into the air to take flight but instead of flying she found herself crashing back to the ground, her waterlogged wings keeping her solidly earthbound. She tried to shake the water out of her wings but the dragonites attacked her again, knocking her back a few massive steps only to have the serperior lunge at her, the pokemon's head hitting her in the chest and knocking the wind from her.

Another barrage came from the lapras, which was followed by a hit from the seviper, sending falling onto her back right in front of a trio of trainer. They were wearing color coordinated uniforms in blue and white, which matched the pokeball they threw at her. It popped open and pulled her inside, she tried to fight against it but there was nothing she could do and moment later she found herself trapped inside the ball.

She took a moment to orient herself inside the trap. This one felt different then her normal pokeball; instead of feeling like she both existed and didn't exist at the same time, here she felt confined and pressed down on all side. It was like she was trapped in the physical ball itself.

The swellow tried to move inside the ball, searching for the latch, hoping that it was in the same place as before. It was hard to move, struggling for every little bit she could manage. The ball pulled tighter around her, trying to hold her in position but she wasn't going to let it. There was no way she was going to allow herself to be in a pokeball like this one.

After a great deal of struggle she finally felt the latch against her talon. She grabbed it and twisted in just the right way and was rewarded with the familiar feeling of the pokeball popping open. She found herself almost thrown out of the ball and back into the crowd of six pokemon, hitting the lapras and sending him tumbling away to crash into the dragonair, stunning the draconic pokemon.

The other pokemon were stunned by her return as were their trainers. She took advantage of that, letting out a cry of anger as she pounced upon the seviper, grabbing his blade like tail in her beak, swallowing hard. The pokemon started to struggle but she just kept swallowing, his serpentine body making it extremely easy to slurp him down, and in only a few moments his head vanished down into her gullet.

Spinning around she ducked as the pair of dragonites attacked her again, slapping one of them down with a flick of her wing. It crashed down next to her and rolled onto his back. She towered over the chubby dragon and she wasn't going to let him attack her again, lunging at him and shoving him into her beak.

The other dragonite cried out and dive-bombed the swellow, trying to save her mate, but she was too late. His head and neck was already down her throat by the time the dragonite came around for another attack, coming towards her with a roar. Luckily for the swellow the lapras had regain its footing and sent a blast her way, but hit the other dragonite instead and sent her flying to the side.

She finished eating the first dragonite and turned towards the second one as she righted herself. The dragon looked up at the swellow then down at the ground before dropping her wings to her side and lowering her head, offering herself to be eaten.

Not one to turn down a free meal, the swellow pounced on the pokemon, she went down easily, vanishing in a only a few short gulps to join her mate in the swellow's belly. By now the trainers were screaming and trying to order their pokemon to attack but she wasn't going to let them. She spun around and knocked them down with her tail, leaping towards them only to be blocked by the serperior.

The serpentine grass-type gave the swellow a dismissive look then tried to coil himself around her. His body was long but still could wrap around her one and a half times, not enough to properly crush her though it did keep her away from the trainers.

With a squawk she bit down onto the serperior's tail then flung herself to the side, crashing into the ground and rolling down the slight incline towards the remains of the gym. She struggled with the creature, slamming him to the ground, trying to get him to relax his grip. Finally she forced enough slack to wrench her wing free and break the hold.

With a cry she head-butted the grass-type and then snapped her beak around its center, swallowing with as much force as she could. The serpent folded in on its self, struggling and crying out as he sank deeper into the avian, but no matter how much he struggled her couldn't get free, finally his head and tail both slid down her throat pressed tightly against each other.

She let out a belch of air and leaves, then turned her attention back to the trainers. The lapras was between them and her, clearly trying to defend the small trainers from her. She wasn't going to allow that to happen. Stretching up to her full height she towered over the water type, almost twice as tall as him and still growing even as they fought.

The lapras sent a jet of water at her, hitting her with enough force to make her stumble back half a step, but no more than that. She could feel the water pounding against the feathers of her chest, but they were so big now they were almost like armor. She started walking towards the pokemon, the water attack trickling out before he tried a blast of ice, but she easily leapt over it, crashing down in front of the sea-monster.

She snapped a wing at him and when he ducked away she grabbed the large shell on his back with one talon. With a quick move she flipped him over and slammed him down his back, stunning him and cracking the hard surface of his shell. She sank her talons into the crack and pried the shell apart, ripping it away.

This left the lapras looking more like a finned slug then a sea monster. She grabbed him with her talons and held him in place as she opened her beak as wide as she could manage it, flicking her tongue out as she guided the water type inside the opening and closing it around his soft shoulders. Without the shell he had very little structure and slid down her throat as a nearly boneless mass.

By now the trainers had run away from her as fast as they could, vanishing into the city, leaving her alone with the knocked out dragonair laying a short distance away. She slowly walked over to it, her feet crashing to the ground with each lumbering step, her body growing as it digested her collection of meals.

When she reached the dragonair, the huge wingless dragon was hardly a challenge. She scooped up his head in her mouth and swallowed. This was enough to finally shake him out of his stupor and he started to thrash, but it did nothing to stop the inevitable. His tail snapped from side to side as he slid down deeper, finally the very tip vanishing beyond her beak.

The swellow took a few moments to allow her meals to settle in her belly. Her chest was pushed out with all the pokemon she had eaten, hints of skin showing between her feathers, though they were quickly filling in as she grew.

A short time later she saw another of the blue and white trainers rushing towards her. Before he could pull out a pokeball she jumped on him, eating him whole. He hardly made a morsel for her now, but she was in the center of the city with buildings all around here. There were more than enough human's to satisfy her hunger.

Licking her beak she walked up to the first building, cracking it open to get to the meals inside. The town was a buffet laid out for her, and she was going to clean it out. After that only Arceus knew what would come next... then again there was always Arceus himself along with all the other legendaries just waiting out there to fill her ever growing belly.

She could hardly wait!
